Tommy is a Genius guitar player ! I play drums as a hobby and I'm from England , but I'm a guitar fan and I can't understand why he's not been heard of way earlier in the Northern hemisphere , indeed the world as he now is ! It's a wonderful story of himself and his brother !
*momentarily speechless* Exuberant is a bit of an understatement. I think this is my favorite TE video. There is something raw and brilliant rolled into a bit of joy.
Not only I think he is the best ever, as I also think that back in 1999 he should have been awarded the "best hairstyle" grand-prize. This haircut is masterpiece
Thank you so much for these (rare) videos! After years of watching his stuff on youtube and himself live, on dvds and listening to all his records he still makes me laugh out loud. I really appreciate and enjoy your videos!
I think the version from Sheldon Concert Hall St Louis performance is my fave, but this is great, thanks. Especially the back end where Tommy proves that he *can* play at human pace :D
He got the new auto guitar. You just tap your foot, put your hands on the strings and left your mind go. What a great example of thinking the note and having it rise up from fret board. How could any guitar player not be inspired !
You should watch other stuff by him. He's a legend in Aussie, Nashville (2 records with Chet Atkins) and all over. He HAS total control. He's on a small stage in a t-shirt, having one HELL of a lot of fun. Most gracious performer I've encountered - ever. Check him out.AND - I've seen him on large stages and he will pace back and forth, mugging at friends in the audience while ripping off beautiful solos that other pros have to be sitting carefully in a studio to equal. He IS gifted. Word.
coolguy478 With uncontrolled, i dont necessarily mean bad. Actually not even close. It pretty obvious that he´s improvizing most of this performance, hence it cant be quite as rehearsed as something he has already prepared.
Have you ever just held a guitar and been like, "wow, there's now way I'll ever be at this level?" and then completely just chucked the guitar into the awaiting fire?
someone who felt from his chair by dancing like tommy does that the leg of the chair broke, then he stood up felt over his w-lan cable and the laptop felt over him. after that he was angry got the mouse and shooted it with the laptop through the window and the mouse clicked at the dislike button when they hited the floor. sorry for my english :P
3:35 could this actually be the moment when he had the idea to add this note, one that became so characteristic in later versions of Guitar Boogie? It sure does sound like it, the way he's refining it later on... (see 4:10 for comparison)
He must play the guitar on rockabilly songs.he would be fantastic. I would like hearing him to play rockabilly music.rockabilly is the mix of country western, blues, western bop and also boogie woogie music.
@@nanst- Well Zelda I call OCD a personality trait, but it is in fact a 'disorder' from the 'common mainstream'. All good guitarists know what it is like to go to sleep holding your guitar. You need to practise constantly and play the instrument, even to the detriment of your family relationships. Tommy says ' never practise in front of your family', because practise involves repetition, which is known to kill familial relationships. John Denver's 2nd ex-wife ( Cassandra Delaney) complained that John Denver had a bad case of CHAG disease. CHAG is ' Constantly Holding A Guitar'. Need we say more - learn the piano instead - you cannot hold a piano ! - unless of course, you are a furniture removalist.
Heard other versions? Well, starting at 2:35, this IS the best version. I have heard. He cuts the Segovia bullshit and lets the boogie rule from there on.
But one thing, 5:08-5:5:13 the adrenaline level is as high as anywhere else in the video and anyone can play that. So don't forget to do your own thing, the guitar will sound best when you handle it yourself. I can say that, having the slowest fingers of anyone who have made a comment here. But the thing I like with Tommy, it's not like he shows off high motorical capability, everything he does here is to make the guitar sound good. The music owns all motorical ability.
Anyone who disagrees with Guitar Player Magazine (declared Tommy best acoustic guitarist in the *world*) -- jeez, how can you witness this and not change yer mind?
Perhaps the best ever player of the instrument.
his incredibly high energy is definitely what makes this! once he gets going there's no stopping him. Brilliant..
theres something about tommys performances around this time, late 90s early 2000, that are full of fire
Agreed!...must have been the "energy drinks"....

Ive watched alot of tommy but this show was something special.
He's so incredibly talented, skilled beyond virtuosity, always tremendously inspired and so modest about it all ... it's quite frightening really.
Wow, what a great feel Tommy has on this one, absolutely the king of improvisation..........
*momentarily speechless*
Exuberant is a bit of an understatement. I think this is my favorite TE video. There is something raw and brilliant rolled into a bit of joy.
I'm amazed at Tommy's acting that I stare rooted to the spot. I still can't believe a guitar can sound like that!
Je confirme que c'est effectivement la meilleure version jamais vue et entendue sur you tube, surtout à cause des nombreuses improvisations
I have watched several of his Guitar Boogie performances. I also like this one best. He really gets the crowd into it.
Arguably, the most amazing display of acoustic guitar virtuosity I’ve ever seen…
Wow, energy and enthusiasm off the scale here. He's amazing!
Thanks SRV for dripping into Tommy amazing talent
Just came from seeing him tonight in Grants Pass, Oregon. Hasn't slowed down at all. 67 and KILLING IT. 🤯🎸🎶
long live Tommy! The King of acoustic guitar!
Don't know what to say. Never seen anything like it. Insane. Some of those, all of those rips, just oh wow....
this is what we call ''feeling''
He so good, if it was a novel nobody would believe it, also seems like a good dude.....hope you're still at when your 90 Tommy
Not only I think he is the best ever, as I also think that back in 1999 he should have been awarded the "best hairstyle" grand-prize. This haircut is masterpiece
Гениален! Точка.
15 years ago....wow....guess we all had more energy in our youth.......
Thank you so much for these (rare) videos! After years of watching his stuff on youtube and himself live, on dvds and listening to all his records he still makes me laugh out loud. I really appreciate and enjoy your videos!
I have to stop saying I play guitar. I have not played that many notes yet and I started in 1965! Now slow this video down to actual speed...
........all my guitar skills, just jumped out of window.........so hilarious!
I think the version from Sheldon Concert Hall St Louis performance is my fave, but this is great, thanks. Especially the back end where Tommy proves that he *can* play at human pace :D
He can speak so clearly with that instrument.
Saw his Durham NC performance two weeks ago......he continues to improve, if that’s possible! Legend.
God-like. That's definitelly the best version, Tommy never ceases to amaze me

Have you ever just held a guitar and been like, "wow, there's now way I'll ever be at this level?" and then completely just chucked the guitar into the awaiting fire?

Theres a version of him playing outside in a blue button up i think. Just type in tommy e guitar boogie. He adds to it. Its insane
3:35 could this actually be the moment when he had the idea to add this note, one that became so characteristic in later versions of Guitar Boogie? It sure does sound like it, the way he's refining it later on... (see 4:10 for comparison)
Possibly, he probably saw how much of a hit it was and then kept it in his routine
Yeah, probably. Nice catch.
Yes You're right, I agree it's the best I ever heard
He must play the guitar on rockabilly songs.he would be fantastic. I would like hearing him to play rockabilly music.rockabilly is the mix of country western, blues, western bop and also boogie woogie music.

he looks so handsome :')
I´ve always wanted to learn guitar, but the beginning seems so slow and frustrating
It actually gets harder after
Nicolas Motte True, but koensieben is just joking...
To be a good guitar player you have to have a large dose of OCD. A Personality Trait called Obsessive Compulsive Disorder.

Watch *Steve Ray Vaughan’s “Cold Shot”. Pretty much sums up your comment in a funny way
What in the name of all that is holy did he just do to that piece of wood!?
I don't think the guitar needs a smoke, but I could use one after that!
GOD!
Yeeeaaaaahhh!
This is your UA-cam channel OMG.
No shit!!! This is the most grooviest version of Guitar Boogie!
Stick at it son... you'll be real good someday
That's how you get all the girls! )))
Forget all about that Macho shit and learn how to play guitar - John Cougar
God damn... that's groovy to say the least!
Hmmm, dudes pretty good. If he sticks to it he should be one of the greats in no time
Emperor level... ❤👊
How could someone not get tired after keeping the beat for about 6 minutes at this speed with his leg?
Holy bat shit.
WAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!
The best!!!!
Heard other versions? Well, starting at 2:35, this IS the best version. I have heard. He cuts the Segovia bullshit and lets the boogie rule from there on.
Nowhere near how good he does it now but was probably the best back then. Kicks his OWN arse now. Lol
He forced that guitar into subjection. This might be the best version. It's great.
yes i think also
Impossible not to have some type of emotional response to this level of proficiency. Makes no sense that a human should be able to do this lmaooooo
crazy i!!!!!!
Супер
That HAIR though.....
does one of his strings broke at the bending? XD sounds like it did :P
@3:08

At what age did tommy emmanuel start playing guitar?
