This is brilliant. I've been looking for this sort of walk-through of RS nodes since I installed RS. Thank you Maxon/Elly for finally putting this together.
That was such a lovely session! Many thanks to Elly and the team at Maxon for putting this together. I've learnt so much in the last couple days. Keep them coming, thank you!
Elly nice Tutorials 🎉🎉🎉 and happy birthday 🎉🎉🎉 I have a question about tags materials. In redshift. In my viewport can’t visualize opacity tag material adding to base material. Even if I have opacity texture applied. There are wrong in may setting? Thxs in advance 😊
Amazing introduction! Im really ok to star with redshift now and, I want know how to blend together (and ramdomly) 2 albedo map , like for grass shader to make them more natural.
Thanks for that perfect tutorial. I have two little questions. Could you, please, clarify: 1) If there any opportunities for separate dimensions by axis when we plugged up "constant" node to scale/rotation/position? 2) As i understood, when we use normal and bump or a few bumps/normals textures in one material we should use "bump blender" node. But if it's correct, it turns out like we blend them and decrease their weight value at the end at a half, cause, for example, now we see 50% normal texture and 50% bump texture. So, is it mean that in that case we need multiply default values of weight in both textures (before we plugged in "bump blender" node) at least by twice?
For whatever reason, I've followed the Tri-Planar Node portion how you illustrated in the video, in the latest version of C4D and it doesn't fix the bad wrap. Any suggestions?
I really appreciate your tutorials, I am new to c4d and try to learn redshift simultaneously. I feel a little overwhelmed, this feels like a really really advanced tutorial. Do you recommend learning redshift at the very start? Thank you so much!
Hi I am following this webinar with the node editor interface instead of the one from standard redshift and for some weird reason there's not the C4D shared in there. But when I switch to the standard redshift interface that node is actually there....does anyone know the reason?
I was really ecstatic about redshift coming in cinema 4d and I can access it in cinema 4d but when I want to render, it does not work and shows following messages: license error, no device available. why does it do that?
I am finding YOUR tutorials to be very informative. You are a great trainer. Maybe you can communicate this, I'd really like to have a deep dive into the ramp node. You teased that you could spend 30 minutes on it. I'm guessing I only know a small percentage of what it can do, and I'd love to learn as much as possible.
Hey, yes we are, we've got a new HOWMaxon Level-Up Workshop starting in June www.maxon.net/en/event/hands-on-with-maxon-cinema-4d-level-up-part-1 we will be diving into some Redshift too, including the C4D Node Editor workflow
I’m stuck at 1:32…I’m building this and following along using the Node Editor in R26 instead of the Shader Graph and it’s not possible to add the C4D Shader as a node. What am I missing?
A member of my team found the answer to my question in a forum post. "It (C4D Shader) doesn't exist (in the R26 node editor) because that node is just a "texture baker" that bakes out the nodes for other engines if your not using the Standard Surface…but you can just reference it in from Xpresso into the new nodes system.”
Hi there, My question is at 23.28 sec Author said, ' Color space For base texture is sRGB ' why not ACEG CG ? ACES CG is designed for 3d rendering specifically. what's the reason please Can you tell me ?
Can some of the next lessons be more about BakeSet options and AOVs (texture baking). e.g. How to render one texture map for multiple objects using a custom (combined) UV source.
Hey, as this is an intro to Redshift course we probably won't get round to creating custom AOVs and BakeSets, but this is a great topic suggestion and we'll share it with the team for future webinars!
Hey Iryna, you can switch this back by going to Edit > Preferences then find Redshift under the Renderer drop down, and turn off 'Node Materials for Presets'. Now when you double click it'll create a Shader Graph material for you. Hope this helps, Elly
Has there been a big change in the graph editor since this video? The old one doesn't seem to work at all and the new one looks completely different. And now there is a RS Material and a RS Standard Material. Or is it just me?
Hey, you're right, this workshop was run prior to Redshift 3.5 which came with a new Standard Material and it also uses the Redshift Shader Graph. Here's a useful video on the C4D Node Editor and the new Standard Material in Redshift; beta.cineversity.com/en/series/getting-started-with-redshift?tutorial=getting-started-with-redshift-part-3-redshift-materials - Hope this helps
I can remember a while ago Redshift teased the integration of the RS materials into the C4D material nodes (not Xpresso interface) What happened to that?
Hey, yes you can work in either the RS Shader Graph or in C4Ds Node Editor, here's a short webinar snippet on some of the differences ua-cam.com/video/E1rQBaFquL0/v-deo.html - For this intro course we're learning in the RS shader graph
@@MaxonTrainingTeam ahh ok so not all the nodes are in there. That’s a bit strange because it was over a year since they teased it..So seems like half a job imo. I only just moved over from Octane and I really miss the node editor. What really annoys me about RS is that your INPUTs are not there to begin with, you have to create the ports for everything. But then, I’m sort of trying to see past the less user-friendly nodes as there’s so many more benefits you gain with RS over Octane! That’s coming from a long time Octane user.
I asked a question in the webinar, but I guess I will try again here. I have a bunch of redshift materials in my library. If I need to uninstall and reinstall C4D, how do I back up libraries of materials now? It use to be all in a Lib file. Can anyone help with this?
Hey Brian, sorry we didn't get to answer your question live. I'm putting together a Q&A doc for all questions throughout this workshop which can be found on the project file link. You can save assets to a custom database and here's a quick tip on how to do that ua-cam.com/video/-PWZ9AJ625Q/v-deo.html - It's recorded in 24 but the functionality is the same. Hope this helps!
Yes this doesn't work with your new RS Standard nodes. Material blender says its an illegal combination trying this layout ua-cam.com/video/rPR3Jku6jqo/v-deo.html
Just for the record, I got knocked out of a spelling bee because I spelled "aluminum" as aluminium and now I see they are both equally correct. Not fair.
Thank you Elly for being a great tutor! Always precise and clear! Learning a lot from your sessions.
So much has changed in r26, shame this was not done a few months later to reflect the changes
Yeah! R26 is brilliant - but I'm still using S24 for some things because most of my plugins don't work with R26
I have been using Redshift for a year now but I learned a lot from your series! Thank you so much.
This is brilliant. I've been looking for this sort of walk-through of RS nodes since I installed RS. Thank you Maxon/Elly for finally putting this together.
Absolutely great. Many thanks for explaining so much things in a one video!
Thanks so much for this series. I'm just starting out with RS on a M1 MacBook Pro. I love it so far!

The constant node is not in the new version of Cinema 2023. I found only Color Constant.
Could you please help me?

Hello. What can be the reason I can not turn on ENABLED in the displacement of object tag (geometry-displacement-enabled)?
Cool! Thanks a lot!🔥
constant" node editor to scale or rotation? i didn't find can u help me please

Why aren't you using the new node editor? :)

When I vary the Hue in the Color Correct Node of the Scratches shader there is no change in final render of your fantastic example file. Why is that?
Hey , Are you going to do a tutorial on New Node workflow (S26) ?

@@MaxonTrainingTeam great 😍
0:42: Wouldn't you have to activate tessellation as well, since the geometry has not enough polygons?
I usually use an blend weight of 1 and tick additive mode. i think thats the same as blending half and half. kind of
