I was able to get a new CV 70s Strat for $249. The feel of the neck was really nice from factory. I added a 57/62 loaded pickguard, upgraded the bridge saddles, added locking tuners and blocked the tremolo. I did all the work myself including a setup to my exact liking. Bottom line, all in at less than $550 this guitar is on level with my American Deluxe!! And I don’t have to stress when leaving it out around the house lol.
The strats and teles are waaaaaaay better value than the jazzmaster and jaguars from the CV line. Those really dont need anything as even the stock hardware is perfectly fine and reliable as is. Those are the two best cvs and it isnt close. Glad you enjoy yours love the big headstock on that model!
No thank you for watching! I had a blast building this, but I should have waited another month or two for it to cool down more man I was sweating soooo bad in the garage doing this haha
I'm happy you enjoy this, I love doing stuff like this and can never gauge if it's something anyone else would ever want to watch and rarely film it.. Looks like i should be doing that more often!
It's always interesting taking on tasks I've never done before, plenty of work on offsets but this was my first rewire from scratch.. good lessons here and will carry them over should I have to do it again, thanks John
Nice upgrades. I'd like to hear a demo. I see the vibrato arm is flopping around. The arm on my '60s Lacquer Jag was doing that and I was concerned about how to fix it until I figured out I just didn't have arm pushed in far enough.
That works until the collet is just worn from years of use which is the case for this one, once that goes it's basically the decision of using a set of pliers to retighten it with the assembly off to force it to clamp tighter again, or do the puddy trick which has held up on my jazzmaster for about 7 years now... a little bit into the arm cavity and boom - problem solved!
Very nice rebuild. I’ve been thinking of getting a CV myself. What do you think of the stock trem and bridge on these guitars? Are they good enough or just garbage?
Great work on this (as always) - the guitar is sooooo much better now, fantastic parts in every department. Can't wait to see/hear more of it!
That pink/mint combination is gorgeous.
honestly it does look so much better, nice work Jim! Hope you and yours are doing well friend.

Very nice- that neck!
I love the vintage sized frets on it, I gotta be one of the last people on earth that does but man they are great.
Always interesting to see you working on guitars 🙂🙂🎸🎸
