    I'm now realizing that I have the function of the "strangle" switch all backwards. It is meant as a HIGH PASS FILTER. So really when the toggle is UP then the switch is ON and not OFF like I am claiming in this video. Nevertheless, the way I am using it here is not technically incorrect...just different!

    Thanks for watching and I hope you enjoy this video!

    I’m definitely considering this guitar. I used to have a Peavy T-60, but I sold it and I always regretted it because the extra tone nob and the second switch that guitar has I got such clean crispy tone and then I could get an almost acoustic type of low. It was incredible. This seems up that alley plus that tremolo has my brain going! I can make that sound with digital pedals it’s not as dialed in and so easily heavy or subtle tremolo though I could get way more technical with this. Good video!

    I have the same one and absolutely love it. my Gibson sits in the corner now and this and my classic vibe mustang are my two favourites. the short scale is so nice to play.

  • @jimchristopher4529
    @jimchristopher4529 Рік тому +1

    Fender Jaguars were the "Top of the line" of the Original Leo Fender designs. They are great guitars but they are definitely not everyone's cup of tea. For one thing they are short scale (24" vs. 25.5" on a Tele or Strat) which makes them similar to a Mustang in that regard. However, moreso even than a Mustang the Jaguar does not do well if you are a person who aggressively bends your strings like a heavy duty blues rock lead guitar player. The bridge/saddles won't hold the strings well if you bend more than a half step (ala David Gilmour etc). However, if you love to play weeird or complex chords you'll dig both the Jaguar and Jazzmaster because they are both "short sustain" guitars with very staccatto attack - so you really hear each note ring out of the chord - that's why they are so popular with Surf Guitarists and alt-Indie players like Thruston Moore and Kurt Cobain. Those guys don't bend their lead notes much but they love to emphasize the clash between certain tones and intervals. Elvis COstello also played a Jaguar on his early records and he highlights the "brashness and clang of hitting the strings aggressively with his pick without a lot of bending at the frets.
    BTW - Nice review - you really went through a lot of the variations of tone the guitar is capable of.

    • @Lucas_Arredondo
      @Lucas_Arredondo  4 роки тому

      Harry Flashman I dont know how accurate that claim is, but there really is something about this classic vibe jaguar that I cant stop enjoying! Generally speaking, it was always regarded that classic vibe and MIM fenders were more or less on par as far quality goes. Not sure how that still holds up with the player series and updated classic vibe series

    • @vuLKan0320
      @vuLKan0320 3 роки тому

      You're absolutely right about it being better than the player jaguar. The player series jaguar doesn't have all of the controls that the Squier has. The Player Jaguar only has ceramic pickups, while this one had Alnico. And on top of that, the player series and american standard Jaguars have synthetic nuts while the Squier has an authentic bone nut.

    EXTREMELY bright harsh and plinky sounding even by Jaguar standards; I can’t imagine anyone other than a beginner seeing this as a Jack of All Trades guitar, it’s more of a specialty guitar, it does the Jag thing and not much else.

      It's his settings, and string size, these with 11.s are sensational, some nice demos out there, but your right here, does sound bright. Other demos just melt you away, so smooth and fender like. Great guitar once set up correctly .

    • @primeDecomposition
      @primeDecomposition 2 роки тому

      @@anteburazin69 I’ve just recently acquired a Johnny Marr Jaguar and, yes, it has a myriad of tones that can be gotten; dare I say even more than my strats/teles. Now I did swap out the stock bridge pup for something hotter, the stock one was just so unbelievably piercingly bright, pretty weak, and didn’t take gain very well. Lost a little bit of jangle in the in-between position, but it’s still a bright guitar in a good way and now can do dirt tones much more convincingly.
      Having said that, it is undeniable that these guitars have noticeably less sustain than strats and teles, I would imagine that’s why the traditional type blues and hard rock guys tend to avoid them, it’s just the nature of the bridge design and lower break angle over the saddles, but there is an IMMENSE variety of tones these guitars can do, and they do jangle better than just about anything short of a Rick.

      @Lucas_Arredondo  3 роки тому +1

      At the time of this video I had 9's on them and they sounded pretty good. I just recently put 10's and they sound and feel much much better! I tend to prefer lighter gauge strings for the less tension on my hand. I used to have a duo-sonic which is the closest to a mustang. I'm not sure what it is about the Jaguar but it is definitely more "punchy" sounding than my duo sonic. A stratocaster would be a totally different sound and feel than a jaguar or mustang, so i'd say go for that only if you really want the stratocaster sound.

      Hey! I don't really notice any tuning issues although I will say that it definitely helps to have the guitar intonated properly! When I first bought it, I had some frets sounding flat and it turns out I just needed to intonate the guitar and I was good to go. I would maybe check the nut and see if that looks okay. To be honest, I only ever use the vibrato on my jaguar sparingly with open chords and such, so maybe thats why I haven't noticed. Hope you find a solution to your problem!

Jaguars can also be versatile but I see them more as a "break out of the circle" kind of sound, more for experimenting and just wanting an overall different sound/feel than what most are used to. If that sounds like you then go for the Jaguar! But if you are after a more classic fendery-bluesy sound then go for the Telecaster!

      It's a FSR, Fender Special Run! This means that they are limited editions, often limited to a particular store. This one is limited to Anderton's in the UK

    Hey Lucas, I hope you're still enjoying the Jag! I had a Vintage Modified but didn't keep it because it didn't sound 'Jaggy". I'm really liking that 70s Vibe though! Check out the link for proper set up, it's really important to get it playing it's best and this guy knows his stuff.👍👍

    Looks like a Jaguar, but doesn`t sound so. But the colour is kinda cool.
