My top two favorite books are Ella Enchanted and The Secret Garden. I can’t think of anything I hate about them. Maybe one flaw for Secret Garden is it being sort of slow. But that is just a minor dislike to me.
I misread this comment at first, I thought it was saying “I love when you say PIZZA in the middle of your videos” and I was like, he does???? I got so confused haha
Percy Jackson is my favourite series and I adore it, but one thing I do find annoying (this is just Camp Half-blood Chronicles in general, so including the sequels, HoO and ToA) is that almost every single character either gets paired up romantically, or they have to swear to not date at all. I really wish we just had some characters who didn't end up dating simply because not every 13-18 year old (or anyone older either) is going to be doing that. I love some of the pairings with all my heart, but it just doesn't sit right with me that there apparently needs to be a reason other than "I'm not interested in anyone right now" or "I'm not interested in dating" for them to not be in a relationship. The idea of needing to swear an oath if you aren't gonna get paired up is just frustrating sometimes. Still obviously love the books though
Lilla Joba don’t hate me but...it kind of feels like Leo got with Calypso just so that he has a love interest. Sorry if I offended you :(. I still absolutely love Percy Jackson too!
@@tezeth_1385 Oh don't worry, I'm not offended at all. Leo and Calypso definitely did come out of nowhere. I don't necessarily dislike the pair, but it is kind of like we needed every main character in a relationship by the end of the series for some reason
I agree: that’s why I think Percabeth is like the OTP of the series, because we saw their journey and how their relationship developed, but then again some relationships are like that, like Scarlet and Wolf from TLC, different relationships like that exist but it did feel like it (Caleo) kinda came out of nowhere (No hate or anything, this is just my personal opinion)
@@randomperson7489 Caleo is kind of universally known as the ship that was unexpected. There is one pairing I adore that was a little out of nowhere, admittedly. I love Solangelo. But I think in that case the fact we didn't see them get together almost helped the pairing, because we saw quite a bit of them being together once they were and it's open to interpretation, since we don't know how long it took them to get together as it was between books. Caleo, while not bad, was just a bit random, we have a more concrete timeline, and their interactions didn't really make me love them any more, which is very different to Will and Nico.

hey I dont really understand the parents death because I'm currently reading a series of unfortunate events, I'm on the 3rd book and I'm watching the series on netflix in the same time (one book= 2 episodes). In the book the author said that the Baudelaire parents are dead I mean when mr Poe went to the beach to tell the children the bad news, he told them that their parents have perished in a terrible fire, but according to the Netflix show, the parents are alive, I'm not sure if it's a spoiler, if it is tell me, in the first 2 books they didnt say that, but we can see the parents alive in the first 2 episodes
A series of unfortunate events warned us about the ending throughout the entire book, and yet people are still mad about it. It warned you from page 1. Also, I actually liked the ending. Rick Riordan is probably my all time favorite author. I love Percy Jackson and I actually liked Grover. I think if I had to critique something it would be the inclusion of fandom references. I know in one of the heroes of Olympus books there’s a reference to doctor who. Though it was funny, I personally prefer a book that is able to exist outside of a set timeline so it can be a fairly modern read regardless of when the reader reads it. I think riordan set that up well with the “no technology” thing. But doctor who is a tv show that will end at some point and no longer be a relevant reference ... and it requires the use of technology so... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I'm reading the Lunar Chronicles right now and I was able to predict the first book's plot twist practically from the start. It made me question if I was too old to be reading these books lol. I am really enjoying it for the most part though. I had to wait on Cress from the library but it's ready to go as soon as I finish my current read.
I dont necessarily think you are to old, i just think you have read a lot of books and thus know the way of authors. I see some plot twist only on as well, but i just think its because i have read so many books and there is a limit to how you can do a plot twist without it coming completely out of left field. 🤣🤣
1) Cress is my favorite in the series, she and I just vibed so hard. 2) I don’t think the twist was set up to be a twist. The readers could see it easily, it was the characters who were surprised. It wasn’t so much a plot twist as it was us watching the characters react to the secret we already knew
I FEEL THE SAME WAY ABOUT THE "A SERIES OF UNFORTUNATE EVENTS" SERIES! I was so upset with the ending, because Daniel Handler (Lemony Snicket) left so many questions unanswered. Criticism about my favourite book (harry potter) the writing and author I like the general world and some points of the plot but otherwise its pretty terrible.
Biggest problem with The Hunger Games was the middle book. Katniss does nothing but react to the big things happening to her. She makes maybe two choices in the entire book that have any consequence. It would have been *SOOOO* much better if we had followed what Haymitch was doing, how he's handling all this behind-the-scenes intrigue that was actually driving the plot.
Okay I also don't vibe with love triangles but I have to disagree with the romance not being important in the hunger games. The world is on fire, yes, but people still fall in love, and it's kinda nice to know that even in the midst of a revolution there is still something as beautiful as love. Hell, our world is currently on fire, but I still love with all my heart and I refuse to let anyone take that away from me. If we didn't have love would we even have the strength to rebel? It wasn't the most important aspect and was emphasised a bit too much, but I think the fact that is was there shows that even when the world is burning we are still human
You have gotten me to read soooo many books! Now I will go to the bookstore like "oh my gosh! I know that book! Jesse is amazing" you have gotten me to read Miss peregrines home for peculiar children. I really liked it! And sooo many other titles that I love!
Since you bravely put forward your opinion about Grover 😂 I wish to confess with a dash of nervousness that I found Annabeth pretty freaking annoying in the first book . Of course I ended up loving her later on❤️ but man it was hard earlier.
I thought I had heard that when Collins presented it to her publisher or editor or some third party. They were the ones who were like it's a YA, it needs a romance aspect. That it was also clear who she had paired Katniss with, but they wanted a love triangle so that they could push that for sales.
It's been a while since I've seen a Jessethereader video and I just want to say I'm glad you're still here making such wholesome, enjoyable content, it's so refreshing
I love Jesse’s videos when I found his channel when I was at a low point in my life. His videos open me up to a new side of UA-cam and quite frankly a happier life because I have loved book since I was a child since I learned how to read. But I was always made fun of by everyone even my own family and especially my parents. Jesse was actually the first Booktuber That I watched and I realized that I didn’t have to be ashamed of loving Books that I could be my true Book loving self . So I just wanted to say thank you Jesse for all your channel has done for me.
Definitely don't completely disagree with the things that were said about the book thief. But the only thing I truly dislike from this masterpiece is the chapter the thought of Rudy naked. The only chapter I skipped during my reread.
My only need with series of unfortunate events is that violet, klaus, and sunny were literally perfect. They didnt have any flaws! I love them as characters, but I wish they had more realistic characteristics.
I like the characters a lot, i think they are funny and flawed and not really good people. I also am a sucker for a heist story 🤣🤣 for me, i neew to like the characters, the plot can be lacking as long as I like the characters and i think Six of Crows is very Character driven compared to plot, especially considering its a basic heist story. But i also like Ally Carters Heist Society, because the characters are funny and its a heist story 🤣🤣🤣 The second book wasnt as good, it had some moments where it just fell flat? And some plot points i didnt feel like got resolved and dont get me started on the pointless death scene that literlly did nothing for the story or the plot considering how late it was. 🤦♀️🤦♀️
For Long way down I listened to the audiobook version and it was SOO GOOD!! it's read by the author and you can really feel the emotions and everything ahhh I LOVED IT SO MUCHHHHH!!

And sooo many other titles that I love!
have 2 projects that needs to be done in like 2 hours... but it can wait this is more important.
ahhh, a new bookish video totally makes my day Jesse 🥺 :))
the most egregious thing about six of crows is wanting us to believe that those characters are around 17 yo
@jessethereader have you watched any/all of the show “Glee”? it’s my favorite show at the moment and i want to know who your favorite character is :)
Whooo!! Jesse is back🥳🥳
I love Jesse’s videos when I found his channel when I was at a low point in my life.
I’m ok with Scarlet’s pairing and it being insta love didn’t bother me much. But it seemed a little like a toxic relationship sometimes... idk
oof i can see that for sure
Hi i love your videos they always brighten up a foggy day 😊
Definitely don't completely disagree with the things that were said about the book thief. But the only thing I truly dislike from this masterpiece is the chapter the thought of Rudy naked. The only chapter I skipped during my reread.
SO glad I wasn't the only one who had a strong dislike for Grover! XD
PJO is by far one of my favorite book series ever though.
First! Hi Jesse love your videos!
I would so love to see the Lunar Chronicles made into movies! I think that they are perfect for adaptation!
Me clicking faster then the flash!
My friend is new to the reading world and she says that she’s into horror and romance. The first book I thought of to recommend was Miss Peregrine’s.
YES it’s so good I’m on the fourth book right now
*me patiently waiting for the Jesse to talk about Ms Peregrine*
My only need with series of unfortunate events is that violet, klaus, and sunny were literally perfect. They didnt have any flaws! I love them as characters, but I wish they had more realistic characteristics.
Thank goodness, I can use this video as an excuse to take a break from homework!
Can someone please tell me why is Six of Crows so loved by everybody? I read the duology and it got me into a months long reading slump.....💀
Mare Malvīne Īstenā Sometimes I feel like I’m the only person who didn’t like it. I could barely even get through the second book.
But i also like Ally Carters Heist Society, because the characters are funny and its a heist story 🤣🤣🤣
The second book wasnt as good, it had some moments where it just fell flat? And some plot points i didnt feel like got resolved and dont get me started on the pointless death scene that literlly did nothing for the story or the plot considering how late it was. 🤦♀️🤦♀️
For Long way down I listened to the audiobook version and it was SOO GOOD!! it's read by the author and you can really feel the emotions and everything ahhh I LOVED IT SO MUCHHHHH!!
ooh! maybe when i re-read it i’ll check out the audiobook.
I must disagree, I love Emma and Jacob. It is weird that she dated his grandfather but I can't help it, I love them. And I find Jacobs new love interest boring. Sorry not sorry🤷♀️
Jesse is the BESSTTTT❤️
my favorite book is “The Catastrophic History of You and Me” I LOVE THAT BOOK, but one thing is i wish the Bree knew sooner about the past past iykyk
Not yeeting Grover, Jesse😂I've owned Miss Peregrine's for 6 years because of you and I still haven't read it *hides in shame*
Hi Jesse, have you read the series called Cirque Du Freak? I think you’d really like it and it would be great for Halloween! It’s one of my favorite series and it would be hard for me to critique it except for a certain plot point.
