Thank you so much for these wonderful videos. I am so grateful to Linda, Rachel and everyone behind the scenes making these videos possible❤
Loved watching this lady at work
This is so amazing to see how intricate this process is. Linda is such a treasury of knowledge.
I have gained so much admiration for this lovely lady & her skills in making doll wigs. Wow, I’m so glad I watched this. Thank you
You are so welcome!
Shout out to Linda for doing all this demonstration while standing up for so long. It is not easy to sew and curl and all of that while standing up and trying to talk about the process at the same time. That’s multitasking!
Would it make sense to do a curved seam across the wig cap, from ear to ear, to reduce all the wrinkling in the cap? Sort of the way seamed bra cups are constructed.
I think I would also prepare my part hair first, and perhaps sandwich a thin sheet of paper tissue between the wefts. This would keep them nicely separated, and would aid in pressing the seam open. If it’s a double layer of tissue, you could use the paper itself to hold the seam open, and the act of ironing the seam open would weaken the paper enough that it should remove cleanly, I would imagine.
I do a lot of hairstyling on fashion dolls, and I use nylon tulle instead of perm endpapers as my endpaper for forming curls. I encapsulate the hair to be curled in a tulle sleeve, then use a metal hair clip to roll the tulle and hair into a curl. I like the metal clips that are the curved bird-beak type for this process. For really tiny curls, I’ll use a hairpin as a curling wand. I roll the hair all the way to the scalp and use a dressmaker’s pin to secure the curled section in place, either with the metal clip or hairpin still in place, or just the rolled tulle. It depends on how tightly defined I want the curl to be. Sometimes I will leave a longer section of tulle at the end of the curl, so that as it is rolled up, it forms a cushion that keeps the end of the curl from being too tightly curled. It’s basically creating a roller of whatever size is needed.
We’re glad you enjoyed this presentation. Thank you for the tips for alternate methods.
Linda is a very patient and wonderful teacher. ❤

This is amazing! I can’t find the wet ‘n shape, can you tell us where we would find it?
Linda is moving and will be selling it in a couple of months. I don't have a resource for it but I am sure it's out there, I tried googling it just now and didn't easily find it but if I do find a better source, I will comment. Best of luck and thanks for watching!
👏 Linda,I am late for this party but you just stole my mind and heart with this tutorial. Thanks so much.
Merci beaucoup Linda pour votre démonstration.C’est super. Un petit plus ,une traduction en français en surlingnement serait top.

So if you do an upswept or schoolgirl 2 braids style, how do you lay the weft around the cap edge? Do you place it under the cap so it pulls up over the edge?
Wow, that was very good! I have never done a mohair wig. I am encouraged! I have that curling iron and love it. I have used it on my Terri Lee doll’s wig and others.
Wonderful!!
Glad you think so!
I have roving in this exact color as yours. I need to make several wigs. Thank you Linda for all the information.
I love, love your Singer machine!!!
So glad you enjoyed! Thank you for watching!
I've only made one mohair wig for Ellowyne, but it was curly mohair with the hide. It is white with blue purple tips and it turned out beautiful. This was great to learn how to handle loose mohair.
I loved your video , thank you
Beautiful video ! Thank you.
What is the doll's scalp made of?
Can you tell me how I can find wet and shape fabric
You could email Linda and ask her when it will be back, I did a google search and didn't really find other places, sorry! www.uniquelyyoursporcelaindolls.com/fabrics/wet-shape

Thank you for putting this workshop/tutorial on UA-cam. Living in regional Australia it is the only way I could attend something like this. Where do I find the downloads you mentioned at the end?
You are welcome! Glad you enjoyed it. Here is the Doll Artisan Guild resources: dollsbeautiful.com/shop/ols/categories/downloads--how-to

Loved this! So relaxing to watch and found the tip about the rats really useful! Thank You, Linda!
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching!
If I have what's left of an old wig (not much) should I try to add to that cap if possible? I bought matching mohair.
You could try! Never hurts to experiment if yon don’t need it anymore. You can learn a lot that way.
Did you try it as I would like to do that too?
Thank you so very much for this video! You have the patience of a Saint. I kept saying she should sit down (LOL, cause I have a bad back). I have often wanted to try this and now that you kept saying it didn't have to be perfect, I may give it a try. I will check out your website for sure. GOD BLESS
We’re so glad you enjoyed this and hope you’re able to make a wig!
Awesome!

Отличная работа👌👍👏!!!
Loved this, think I could actually make a doll wig now.
I hope you try!
Linda, can you use buckrum instead of the wet and shape? I have lots of buckrum no wet and shape.
I don't know, I will have to ask her next time she comes in. I know Wet and Shape is easy and inexpensive on Linda's website if you want to give it a shot!
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Glad you enjoyed!
Where do you buy the fabric you stitched the hair onto? What is it called?
I think pretty much any dense cloth will work.
Thank you so much.
Glad you enjoyed it!!
thanks for the info.. racheal you look great.. love that outfit and lipstick.. great color..
Thank you!!
The patience! Not sure if I would pulled my own hair out I have been dressing and restoring half dolls . Its really working small scale . I have 2 mohair wigged halfdolls. What could I use for the curlers? There so small. Dolls are about 3 inches to there waist. Maybe wooden dowels or shish kabob sticks?
I want to learn to use a sewing machine. Hopefully in the future 🙂
Hopefully! It’s fun to do.
hi, I’m based in the UK, I was wondering what is the material that she used in the video the cloth material
Pinking shears are also great for non blunt cuts/trims.
Nice tip!
Could you use this plaster fabric to repair a disintegrating old wig? Would it stick to the old hair?
thank you
Excellent video. There auto focus was killing me. I kept taking my glasses off and on until I figured it was autofocus not dirty glasses hahaha
We’re glad you enjoyed it. This is a new fancy camera. It does a great job but sometimes the autofocus is a little killer.
Me Too!
Need to open up my mom's 6 inch dolls head to get her eye balls back in.then make a wig for her. Thank you for the wig part help.
You are so welcome!
Hello ma'am may i know whats the name or brand of your hair iron ma'am? I'm going to restore may 1990 CITITOY doll😅
It’s from a website called Dolls Parts.
I was taught always start from the ends of your hair and little by little work it to the top, so less breakage. Is it not so for mohair .....
easier to comb starting at the hair ends and work your way up. instead of folding up the buckram, keep it unfolded until it dries. while still on the head, sketch in a hairline. cut away the excess then run a straight machine stitch along the edge(1/8" or 1/4" from the edge) to strenghten the edge and keep it from getting out of shape. if there is a lot of excess buckram, you can cut into it and overlap it. this helps eliminate some of the bulk or ridges. once dry, you can also machine stitch along the over lapped areas. if you are getting lots of folds in a certain area, move the buckram so it is on the bias in that area. pull the buckram down to smooth it out. you will get less(if any) folds and ridges. personally, they way it was handled, i don't understand why buckram(wet and shape) was used. muslin or something similar would have worked just as well with a few nips and tucks. there is always more than one way of doing something. just my 2 cents worth.
Your doll held still during the entire show.
Probably use the papers even with the curling iron.
