I so needed to hear this today. I will soon turn 70, and my children and grandchildren are not interested in my dolls. I have packed them up with the intention of selling them. I am going to take my favorites back out and enjoy them now. Thank you for helping me feel excited about my dolls again!
I'm so glad my message resonated with you. It's wonderful to hear that you're choosing to keep and enjoy your favorite dolls. Remember, each doll in your collection holds special memories and stories that are yours to cherish. It's never too late to reignite your passion and find joy in your dolls. Enjoy every moment with them!
I am older than 70 and my daughter has no interest in dolls. I do enjoy them and will always. They give me comfort and appreciation of beauty. Just keep loving yours!
This touches my heart. I will be 67 in 5 months and I can't tell you how many times I've been down in the dumps and picked up one of my dolls to hug or groom. Sometimes I just sit and look at them. I'm glad you are taking your favorite friends out to enjoy.
I'm only 22 but I already have a plan for my dolls. When I get older I plan on physically giving my dolls to people I believe will cherish them. I will definitely figure something else out for the rest as I get older. My sister's and family know that my dolls are valuable and that I care about them.
That's a beautiful and thoughtful plan for your dolls! It's admirable how you're already thinking about ensuring your cherished collection finds a loving home in the future. Your approach shows a deep appreciation for the sentimental and intrinsic value of each doll. It's great that your family understands how much your dolls mean to you. Keep nurturing your passion for doll collecting, and I'm sure you'll find the perfect caretakers for your dolls when the time comes. Your forward-thinking and caring attitude is truly inspiring! PS, I love your username!
@RachelHoffmanDolls thanks! I have been collecting dolls all my life and at times got bullied for it so I started my UA-cam channel Never Too Old for Dolls to inspire others.
Thank you for a wonderful presentation. I have a dear friend who will be 85 years old in early March of this year. She has many beautiful dolls. She made porcelain dolls from molds, cloth dolls some of which she made from Elinor Peace Bailey patterns, some vintage dolls, and some dolls that are probably considered antiques now that belonged to her mother and her grandmother. She has been concerned about leaving all of her dolls to her children to deal with after she passes away. She has given away a few dolls, of which I have been blessed to receive some of them. I have been discussing her concern with her and asking her if she still enjoys her dolls. She has answered in the affirmative. She has had a discussion with her children, and they support her decision to keep her dolls and they will lovingly take care of them in some way after she passes away. She is beginning to feel more at ease now. It's wonderful to have doll friends.
It's heartening to hear about your friend's beautiful doll collection and her family's support, truly highlighting the special bonds formed through a shared love of dolls.
Rachel, you are so sweet; you warm my heart. I splurged and bought a Smart Doll last week; I've been cutting out pattern pieces for a top for her while I listened to you.
I'm so glad to hear that you're enjoying your new Smart Doll! It sounds like you're already having a great time creating a top for her. Crafting while listening to the videos sounds like a perfect way to spend your time. Can't wait to hear more about your creative projects with your doll!
This video is so wonderful. You are so insightful, knowledgeable and kind. Your deep passion for dolls is on display for everyone to see. You educate us and take us on journeys we may not otherwise have the opportunity to experience. You are truly a gift to the doll world and community. There is no doubt your mom is very proud of her beautiful daughter and what she’s created from her love of dolls.
Thank you so much for your incredibly kind words! Your appreciation means the world to us, and we're dedicated to sharing our passion for dolls and creating meaningful experiences in the doll community. We like to think that our mom is smiling down on us, and her legacy lives on through our love for dolls. 💕😊
Wow thank you Rachel this means a lot to me. I was in a low state after visiting someone and we talked about hobbies and you know stuff and dolls come up and I love my dolls and I talked about it and she said something that make me feel sad. " Why are people playing with dolls they must grow up". And now I don't feel sad anymore. Thank you. Have fun and keep the sparkles on. Lovies Yetta💕
You're very welcome, Yetta! We're so glad to have been able to lift your spirits. Dolls are a wonderful and timeless hobby that bring joy to many. Don't let anyone dim your enthusiasm for what you love. Keep having fun and enjoy every moment with your dolls. Sending you lots of love and sparkles! 💕😊
Totally agree with the splurging!! I used to be really over cautious when I started out, to the point I'd have to justify it to myself and then miss out on sales, despite knowing I could've afforded it. One day I saw a doll for sale at a show that I just went for. I felt DREADFUL at first spending that money but she has since become my favorite, she now has more clothes than me and travels all over! I adore her. Treat yourself sometimes, you only live once!
Embracing the joy of collecting is truly what it's all about, and I'm so glad you found a doll that has brought you so much happiness! It's wonderful when a doll becomes a favorite travel companion and a cherished part of your life. Here's to many more adventures and treats that make your heart sing-yes, we only live once, so let's make it beautiful with the things we love!
What an inspiring video, Rachel. Your generous heart and your deep warmth always shine through on every video that you create for us. I like to sit down and have a cup of tea when I am watching, and it always feels as though I have had a dear girlfriend come to visit! You have created such a friendly and welcoming community, and I am so grateful to you.
Thank you so much for your kind words! I'm thrilled to hear that my videos bring you joy and a sense of companionship. It's wonderful to have you as part of our friendly and welcoming doll community. Enjoy your tea and our future videos!
Thank you...thank you, thank you Rachel ❤❤❤. This was the virtual hug I needed so much. I found my 50yr old raggedy Ann doll the other day, and I thought of you😊. Having absolutely no person in my world who is a doll person, I feel extremely isolated at times. Watching your channel gives me the feeling that I'm not so alone. I don't comment often but want you to know how much I appreciate you sharing your doll life🤗, it fills my heart with joy.
I'm so touched to hear that my channel brings you a sense of connection and joy. Knowing that it reminds you of your cherished Raggedy Ann and provides a virtual community where you can share your love for dolls is exactly why I do this. You're definitely not alone in your passion, and I'm here to celebrate every aspect of doll collecting with you. Keep cherishing those special memories and know that your comments and presence are always valued in our doll-loving community.
Hi Rachel, this video was packed full of wonderful tips! I love hearing you talk about dolls! You are so inspiring to doll collectors of all ages. I have sold some dolls that I regretted and have also splurged! I am loving my doll collection. You made a great point about changing directions. It is so true. If you love dolls it’s so easy to notice something new and shiny and want to experience it. I always come back to my favourites though. They give me so much comfort and joy. Thanks for enhancing our experience as doll collectors with your values and huge giving heart. ❤
Thank you for your kind words; it's heartening to know that my tips resonate with you, and it's wonderful to hear how your doll collection brings you comfort and joy, reflecting the ever-evolving journey and love we all share in this delightful world of doll collecting.
@lillychevalierfox I feel the same. Whether it's a tough workday, grief over a loved one's passing, a brief illness (including the annoying common cold) or the pandemic that somehow I survived, my dolls collectively have been my therapy.❤
Wow,that's cool how you grew up in a doll shop. I'm in my 50s,and i never stopped collecting dolls. Not sure why its seen as a negative or something that only children do. As long as it doesn't hurt anyone, more power to the collector.
Hi Rachel. I'm in! Always have been and always will be. I'm eclectic in my taste with a very wide range of age, material and style of dolls and have never felt bad about it. Perhaps it is easier for me to be that way because I have never lived anywhere where there are doll clubs so there are no people to tell me I'm doing the wrong thing. I just have a little time each day to spend with any doll who calls for my atention, my doll books or looking at/watching doll things on line. My doll friends, apart from my little grandson, are all online and my friend dolls are here, on their way here or somewhere out there waiting for me to send for them to come here. I'm lucky enough to have been learning about, playing with and enjoying dolls for almost 70 decades.
It's wonderful to hear from a fellow doll enthusiast with such a diverse and passionate interest in dolls! Your journey of nearly 70 years in the world of dolls is truly inspiring. I love that you find special moments each day with your dolls and online doll friends. Keep enjoying every moment with your collection!
You have been knocking these last few videos out of the park. I have learned so much thank you and your team.☺️ These have been fantastic!!! Happy New Year ❤
Thank you so much for your kind words, and I'm thrilled to hear that you've been enjoying the recent videos and finding them informative. Happy New Year to you too! 😊🎉
Thank you for sharing all your knowledge. Thank you for being so open and honest. I love my dolls. They mean the world to me and I’m so glad that I found the virtual doll convention. I’m so happy I found you. I love my dolls they mean the world to me. My children are more to me than anything I could buy or own. Sometimes they make me feel sad because they don’t understand. I lost my oldest son to Covid in 2020. He was my buddy. He would go to swap meets and flea markets, and bring me dolls he thought I would like. Now that he’s gone those dolls are so precious to me. He could bring me weird Barbie, and I was delighted. Thank you for helping me to understand this is OK. I will enjoy every moment of it from now on. I wish you all the best in the new year. 💝
I'm deeply touched by your heartfelt message, and I'm so glad to have been a part of your doll collecting journey. Your love for your dolls and the memories tied to them are truly precious, and it's perfectly okay to cherish them. I'm sending you my warmest wishes for the new year, filled with happiness and beautiful moments with your dolls. 💝
Thanks Rachel.Excellent tips. My kids have already told me, "Mom when you die, I don't want your dolls". They say it "tongue in cheek" but there is some seriousness in that comment. Well done Rachel. Hugs to you. My favorite tip is putting the note on the doll's clothing. SO glad you have that precious gift from your Mom.
You're very welcome! I appreciate your kind words, and I'm glad you found the tips helpful. Remember, dolls can hold sentimental value for us, and your kids' comments may change over time. Mine did! Sending warm hugs your way! 🤗💕
I Collect mostly modern dolls like monster high G1 and live size good guys dolls,I have a chucky rag doll that I love the most, I carry him everywhere and buy him stuff to improve his look and comb his hair, he even has his own spot on the bed😂, I take him to all the conventions I go to , that rag doll is like my comfort doll , he really is my friend till the end 🥰
Thank you for what you do Rachel I look forward to all of your videos and the exciting anticipation building up to the release of a new doll and the monthly doll subscription boxes!
Thank you so much for your support and enthusiasm; it's heartwarming to know that the excitement and anticipation for our new doll releases and monthly subscription boxes bring you joy!
I've always been fortunate that I learned not to care about other people's snap judgements of me pretty early in life. I have always loved dolls, and long ago when my friends and I were getting into our teens, they all started feeling self-conscious about loving dolls, so they stopped playing with dolls and enjoying dolls. But I never did. I transitioned from a kid playing with dolls to an adult collector without missing a beat. I never got rid of my childhood dolls, but a lot of them didn't survive my early 'restoration' and 'customization' attempts. I did sell a lot of my dolls and donated a lot more in the late 90s, but I didn't part with the dolls that were truly special to me. I let go of some great dolls, but I have great dolls again, so it's fine. I think it's terribly sad when someone puts aside something they really love because they're worried that other people will make fun of them. Those people are not worth caring about. Life is too short to waste a minute of it thinking you have to please other people by denying yourself something you love and enjoy. Especially something as harmless as dolls and toys. Take the joy you can from life, and leave the bitter people to stew in their own sour juice. I really don't know what my holy grail doll would be at this point. I don't have a #1 Barbie, or a Hawaiian SuperStar Barbie, or a Free Moving Cara, or a Talking Busy Steffie, but that's fine. Something to look forward to. But I'm just as happy to find yet another Golden Dream Barbie with her original jewelry, even though I have more than ten of her. There's always something cool to collect, and sometimes it's good just to enjoy what we already have.
It's truly wonderful that you've held onto your love for dolls and embraced it throughout your life, and your perspective on not letting others' judgments dictate your passion is inspiring. Keep enjoying the dolls you love, and there's always excitement in discovering new collectibles while cherishing what you already have.
Thank you Rachel. This was a great video. Loved all the tips. I started collecting fashion dolls in 1995 with Gene Marshall because my husband spotted her in my Barbie Bazaar magazine and thought I might like her. I have never taken some of my dolls out of their mailers, even to look at them. I was waiting for my retirement. Now that I’m in retirement well, you know what I’ve been going through. The death of my mom in 2022 and my husband being diagnosed with cancer in early 2023. We have high hopes for 2024 to build my doll room and unpack hundreds of beautiful fashion dolls. I love you and the VDC so much. You got me back into dolls when my doll light was all but extinguished. Beautiful Grace Marie Fitzpatrick!! If you or anyone in the community is selling the first Grace I would love to own and cherish her. Thank you for being you!!❤️
Thank you for sharing your heartfelt story. I'm deeply moved by your journey with fashion dolls and how they've been a source of joy through life's ups and downs. I'm sorry to hear about the challenges you've faced recently, but your hope and strength are truly inspiring. We're here for you in the VDC community, and I'll keep an eye out for the first Grace Marie Fitzpatrick for you. Your love for dolls shines brightly, and I can't wait to hear about your dream doll room coming to life. Sending love and best wishes for a brighter 2024. Warmly, Rachel
Everything you said is so true. When my Aunt downed my collecting My mother said "At least I see where the money is going!" So I am still collecting and I was listening to you and trying to restring a doll.
I have enjoyed this video very much. I have already thought about where my dolls will go. I am under the weather today but am enjoying the video from my recliner and warm throw. I really miss Buffy today. She would always be in my lap. She would also sleep with Chris when he had bad days before he died .Keep up the good work. Stay well and safe
I'm glad to hear that you've enjoyed the video and have been planning for your dolls' future. I'm sorry to hear you're not feeling well today and missing Buffy, but it's lovely to remember the comfort and companionship she provided. Take care, stay well, and stay safe.
Great video. I hope u realize how important your videos are to collectors. Doll content in general is so interesting and i feel connected to you. Much better listening to u than just watching the latest unboxing of dolls and gimmicks, etc. I admire your knowledge and desire to inform us.
Thank you so much for your wonderful feedback! We're delighted to know that you find our doll content valuable and that it connects with collectors like you. Your support and appreciation inspire us to continue sharing our knowledge and passion for dolls with the community. Keep enjoying the doll world with us! 😊
I love your channel. I don't collect, but I do resell them. It breaks my heart when families want to toss collections. I'm on a mission to save and rehome as many as I humanly can. I buy collections on the East coast and enjoy them as I'm re-homing them.
Thank you so much Rachel! I learned so much from your video. These were all valuable and important things and I appreciate that you provide this knowledge as I’m a less experienced doll collector. So fun!!!!
Me too, I really needed to hear this even if I've been collecting for a long time. I print photos of my dolls (stock photos where possible) and write details on the back of the picture. A great idea to pin notes under the dolls clothing. I keep all the boxes so could put the photos in the empty boxes. Also loved the reaction on criticism, I have more of a problem with indifference to my collection. Thank you!
I'm glad to hear that you found the idea of pinning notes under your dolls' clothing and keeping photos in their boxes helpful, and it's important to remember that your passion for doll collecting is what truly matters, regardless of others' indifference. Thank you for sharing your thoughts!
This is a very interesting video and every word is so true, there's good ideas and things i didn't think of all very helpful. Thank you so much for this Rachel.
I really enjoyed this video! You make lots of good points-but fun and love are two important ones! I love my dolls, they make me happy-I love to go in my doll room and just look-I remember where I got something and at this stage of life (72) everything has a story. I sometimes bore people with them, but I like to remember. It is their provenance. Happy New Year to you and your wonderful family!
Thank you for your kind words, and it's delightful to hear how much joy and cherished memories your dolls bring to you; may each story they hold continue to brighten your days and those of others. Happy New Year to you too!
I am 60 years old and the Barbie movie actually motivated me to get out my old Barbies and started me collecting. My mother was diagnosed with breast cancer when I was 10 and died when I was 16. I remember being shamed by my girlfriend for still playing with dolls when I was about 12. I continued to play with my dolls in secret until about 16 and then put them away. I didn’t know it but they were my therapy then and they’re my therapy now. Still, I’m the only doll collector I know and still get rolling eyes and looks. But this time I’m older and don’t give a damn😄! I’m blessed to have a husband on board AND to have people like YOU who get it and bring joy to the doll world! Thank you!!!🥰
It's heartwarming to hear how the Barbie movie reignited your passion for collecting dolls and brought back those cherished memories. Your resilience and love for dolls are truly inspiring, and it's wonderful to have you as part of our doll-loving community! 🥰
What a great video! I didn't know that about using cream of tartar to clean leather bodies...you have some terrific tips. When you stepped aside to show the Raggedy Andy, there is a smiling doll visible at the bottom of the screen...is that a Princess Elizabeth doll? She is beautiful, whoever she is. I had a Raggedy Andy when I was little, and I've been feeling a tug at the heartstrings to get another one.
Rachel, I have found for cloth bodies that no vac carpet/fabric sanitiser foam spray can work wonders on dolls from the 80s and may work on other dolls too
@@RachelHoffmanDolls No problem :) I've used the pet one before but there are others and it is relatively cheap. Not a permanent solution for smoke exposure but makes at least a short term difference with that too.
I have always loved dolls. My family viewed this as my " quirk" but let me be. Thank you for the affirmation that I am actually very normal and loved for loving my dolls.
Girl you were so precious hugged up with the Raggedy Ann doll! I agree! There are certain dolls that are part of a small lot, and the company's defunct, and the condition is great-I dont play games if its a grail, I get it. Like you said, i dont sacrifice my well being to do it, so I never regret these buys.
Thank you! And I want to clarify, the people who came to the door RAN AWAY when they saw me! 😂 We always invite people in if they’re curious or collect dolls.
I’d like to thank you for this video. I’m going through a time of personal healing in my 40’s. I’ve learned that healing my inner child involves dolls, lol. I started with “haunted dollls” on Etsy, because they fascinate me. Dolls are powerful, and I didn’t realize that before I developed this interest. Then, I realized I love dolls far more than I admitted before. I was a neglected child, and I didn’t participate in pop culture during my childhood. I didn’t even see Barbie commercials growing up. Now, I realize my inner child was looking for excuses to buy dolls. So, I’ve decided that I don’t want an apartment full of dolls as much as I’d like a moderate collection of dolls that make me happy. It can be as eclectic as I’d like. I can do what I want with them. It’s very freeing, and honestly more healing that I thought. Last night, I won my first auction on a vintage Barbie for $53. When she arrives, I can see her true condition, and start my journey with her. Thank you for sharing your story, and all of your advice!! I’ll be a loyal follower in the future! ❤
I totally know what you mean about splurging, I did that last year on a Simon and Halbig 1079 and her carrying case was also her wardrobe, full of beautiful dresses, shoes, some fake money, her own handbag and her own baby doll, she is my main profile picture 🙂 At the moment I am saving up and hoping to find a Kammer and Reinhardt 117n Mein Liebling with flirty eyes 😃
That Simon and Halbig 1079 sounds absolutely enchanting, complete with all her little treasures-what a find! Best of luck in your quest for the Kammer and Reinhardt 117n Mein Liebling; those flirty eyes are sure to be captivating. May your collection continue to grow with such delightful pieces!
I’ve learned so much from you in the 2 weeks I e been on here! I think dolls brought me so much joy as a child that as an adult I was seeking the same joy. They really do bring pure joy and learning all this new stuff keeps the mind sharp! Thanks for all that you are sharing!
Please, yes, do a longer video on the 'after im gone', issue. When I pass, I have no one after me, no kids, no family, no siblings. I stress a lot about what to do. A video in more depth would be great!!
Rachel, I so enjoyed all your essential tips for Doll Collecting😃😃💖💖💖💖💖!! And it would be nice in the future if you could do a video on Doll Doctor's Association that repairs rag dolls and vintage plastic as well as vintage vinyl dolls. I have a Eegee Doll that is around 18 inches and she was made in 1967, before I was born and she is a very pretty doll. However, after I gave her a gentle bath with soap and a shampooing with only Tresemme Conditioner that I use on my own hair, there was a hole in her head and I noticed she could use a restringing in one of her arms. So far, I just put a silk scarf around her head to hide the hole and I just can not give her away because I just really love her. And my Raggedy Andy from Childhood is way too loved with a head injury and I think he could use a cleaning, but like you said you could ruin rag dolls if you clean them and I am a terrible sewer so I wish there was someone who could sew him up too. And I am so happy that you found a Schoenhut Restoration group that helped you fix those molded dolls!!!! That Schoenhut Restoration Group looks so talented that they looked as if they got divine intervention or a miracle was created to go from badly black mold to beautiful collectable dolls that looked brand new is really awesome😃😃💖💖💖💖💖!!!! And I know what you mean about sunlight. When my Late Grandfather bought for me an Eefanbee Doll for Christmas at age 14, even though I did not want to collect dolls at that age any more, I did display her in my room, but I stupidly put her on my shelves, not realizing how much sunlight she received. Well, this Eefanbee's reproduction of a late Victorian dress and hat went from being green with white polka dots to a permanent purple with white polka dots. And I so agree with you that the best way to buy and sell Dolls is zero pressure and straight from the heart with common sense. And it would be nice if you did a video on local and national auctions or other groups that would take dolls and teddy bears. My Boyfriend's Dad does not collect Teddy Bears, but he had a Rudi Bear which was a John Wawanmaker Christmas exclusive in the 1980s that my Boyfriend's Late Mom bought, but my Boyfriend's Dad will be 92 on Jan. 17th and he wanted me to keep Rudi because he knows I love Teddy Bears and he was afraid that someday it could wind up in the trash, if he did nothing. So, I am holding Rudi and if my Boyfriend's Dad wants him back during Christmas, Rudi can return, but my Boyfriend's Dad just wants me to keep it in the worst way. Thank you so much Rachel for this video😃😃💖💖💖💖💖!! You make Doll Collecting more fun and you make me feel as if it is cool to collect Dolls even if I am not a kid any more, just like I think my Late Grandfather wanted too😃😃💯💯👍👍💖💖💖💖💖!!!
I started out collecting just porcelain dolls. Over the years my collection has expanded to include vintage dolls, modern dolls, antique dolls, . and other types of dolls. I'm would you would call an electic doll collecter I guess. Rachel I definitely needed to hear these tips. Great video overall. 🙏🌹🌹
It's fantastic to hear about your diverse collection, and I'm delighted that you found the tips helpful in your journey as an eclectic doll collector. 🙏🌹🌹
#2 hit home. I started making historical costumes for 12” dolls and bought at least 50 in boxes from Goodwill online. Then I saw Grace and realized how much easier it would be to sew for 16” dolls. During the pandemic I spent thousands on Tonner dolls and accessories. Then the Barbie movie came out and I started yearning for them again. Frankly my ADHD brain got all frazzled with guilt for “betraying” one or the other. So at the moment all of them are in storage
Your journey with doll collecting and creating historical costumes sounds wonderfully rich and diverse. Remember, your passion for dolls, whether they're 12" or 16", Tonner or Barbie, is all part of your creative journey. There's no betrayal in exploring different interests or shifting your focus - it's all about what inspires you at the moment. Don't let guilt overshadow your joy in this amazing hobby. Each doll and each costume you've created is a testament to your talent and enthusiasm. When you're ready, those dolls in storage will be there, waiting for new adventures and creations.
Thank you! So much for the advice ♥️♥️♥️I’m planning on going to the doll and teddy bear show in may 4th it’s in Florida I’m super excited it will be my second time going to a doll show ♥️♥️♥️
You're very welcome! I'm thrilled to hear you're attending the doll and teddy bear show in Florida - May 4th is sure to be a fantastic day for you to enjoy all the wonders a second doll show has to offer! Have a fabulous time!
For sure you are so correct I thought I would just collect the big composition baby dolls . Today looking back I see how I have flipped and flopped to Barbie dolls to reborn monkeys and clothe dolls and vintage stuffed animals and so on . I collect where my heart goes .
It's fantastic to hear about the diversity in your collection! Following your heart and collecting a variety of dolls, from composition baby dolls to Barbies, reborn monkeys, cloth dolls, and vintage stuffed animals, shows a true love for the art and history of doll-making. Each piece in your collection reflects a part of your journey and passion. Keep embracing your diverse interests and enjoy where your heart leads you in the world of collecting!
Thank you Rachel for this very informative video hun.....A very Blessed New Year to you and your family! I am hoping to attend the National Doll Festival in Kansas City, MO this summer.
I’m so glad for this video! I love all kinds of dolls, I just buy what speaks to me and not what I’m told is “good”. Dolls are works of art and you can really change a look or feeling of doll by restyling. ❤❤
Thank you for talking about depression .. my life is going badly, poorly, sad and hurting right now .. I'm broken .. so somehow I ended up back at dolls . cute, smiling dolls are taking my mind off things a bit and giving me something a lil happier to focus on. I wish my friends were into dolls ( they are more like "dolls look haunted or may be haunted" type or just bored, but they humor me atleast ) my therapist is happy to listen and actually asked for pictures and was interested in the backstory of Raggedy Ann and everything
I'm so sorry you're going through such a difficult time, but I'm really glad that dolls are providing a bit of comfort and distraction. Sometimes, it's those small joys-like their sweet, smiling faces-that can help lighten the load, even just for a moment. It’s wonderful that your therapist is open and interested in the dolls too-that kind of support can make all the difference when you're feeling low. And hey, even if your friends don’t fully "get it," it’s great that they humor you and let you share what you love. Never underestimate the healing power of a little joy, no matter where it comes from. You’re not alone in finding solace in your dolls-they can be such a calming presence during rough patches. 💖
Same here my children do not want them but my little granddaughter does like dolls so that's where mine are going but I will sell a few along the way maybe buy a few more 😮
Hi, I am a completely blind doll collector and I’m wondering if your actual store is somewhere that would be accessible to me? I’d love to come see your Dolls in person at some point in my life but if they’re all in boxes/behind glass, I probably won’t be able to also, what do you think the best way to keep my Dolls in good shape/clean is when I can’t see them on my shelves? 15:54 .
Thank you so much for reaching out and for your interest in our store. We absolutely welcome you to visit, and rest assured, we have many dolls that you can touch and experience firsthand. Our store is designed to be accessible, and we'd be more than happy to assist you in exploring our collection. Regarding keeping your dolls clean and in good shape, here are a few tips that might help: Dusting Regularly: Using a soft, dry cloth or a small, soft-bristled brush, gently dust your dolls regularly. This will help keep them clean without the need for visual inspection. Safe Handling: When handling your dolls, make sure your hands are clean and dry to avoid transferring any dirt or oils. Proper Storage: Store your dolls in a cool, dry place. If you're using cases or shelves, lining them with acid-free tissue paper can provide an extra layer of protection. Avoid Direct Sunlight: Even if you can't see them, try to ensure your dolls are not exposed to direct sunlight, as this can cause fading over time. Regular Check-ups: Perhaps a friend or family member could help with occasional detailed check-ups to ensure everything is in order. We'd be thrilled to have you visit our store. Please let us know if there's anything specific you'd like to experience or learn more about during your visit. We are here to ensure you have a wonderful and inclusive experience. Looking forward to welcoming you soon!
@@RachelHoffmanDolls thank you so much for your quick response. I’ll be sure to use all of those tips :-) you’re located in Colorado right? What is the name of your store?
My husband knows my dolls have some value. I'll be 67 this year and life can be so uncertain. I already know that all of my Kewpies and my Raggedy kids will go to my 18-year-old granddaughter who loves them. The rest can give a new dolly mama or daddy some enjoyment and my family can use the money.
What an amazing and true vidéo! You know I use to collect rather expensive dolls like Schmitt and Bru , Kathe kruse etc.... but recently I ve " discovered " Wendy Lawton wood / porcelain dolls ...and I DO really liked them, but I feel exactly how you said: like I betrade myself ,and I ask myself if these dolls worth to be collected, do they have any value, are there any peope who loves wendy lawton dolls ad well snd so on ...very confused feeling . Gros bisous from Frace😘
I'm so glad you enjoyed the video! It's wonderful to hear about your journey in doll collecting. Remember, the true value of a doll lies in the joy it brings you, not just its price tag or rarity. Wendy Lawton's wood/porcelain dolls are beautiful and certainly have a place in the hearts of many collectors. Embrace your newfound interest with confidence. There's a community for every type of doll, and your passion is what truly matters. Gros bisous back to you from Colorado!
So Rachel I just put some barbies in a plastic tub and wrapped then in bubble wrap and put in closet I am worried I packed it away incorrectly. I do plan on creating a doll room and putting them back on display but that could take a year or two. Do you think this is safe?
Dear fellow doll collectors...should an accident happen with one of your Antique Dolls, like severe breakage, remember to save the dolls eyes, wig, and all clothing, you will be able to use these items again on another Antique doll, you will be glad you saved these items from the broken doll.
Rachel, please tell your video editor to stop using stock footage of random people in your videos. We want to see you occupying the entire screen when you're talking to us. Clips from past VDC footage and personal photos are wonderful! ❤
HI! I would have preferred not to use the stock footage, but the camera was blurry on my face and focused on something in the background, and I had no time to film more footage when I realized it. I asked him to use the footage where it was out of focus as a last-minute fix.
So wonderful!!❤❤
There is so much great information in this video. Thank you, Rachel, for sharing your vast knowledge of dolls with us.
Thanks for watching! We appreciate you being here!
This presentation resonated with me. Just loved it. Thanks so much, Rachel.❤
You're so welcome! Thank you for listening!
Dear Rachel thanks, this video is fantastic!
😂😂 you are an enabler 😂 but that’s why we love hanging out with you because you tell us it’s OK to buy the dolls to go for it!!
Thank you so much. My dolls are indeed saving my sanity.
We totally get that!! Glad you are here!
Aw, wishing you much joy and comfort from your dolls, lillychevalierfox.
Love this Rachel 🤗... thanks for being my doll bestie 🤗🙏🏼❤🍄🥂
You're the best!
@@RachelHoffmanDolls 🥰🍄... back at ya! ❤
Another great video Rachel with lots of useful information on doll restoration if needed.
Thank you for being you!!❤️
I wish you and your husband the very best for 2024 🍀🍀🍀
@@nenenee5579 thank you so much. He’s in remission since September.
Warmly,
Rachel
Thanks you from Calgary, Canada. Very cold Alberta
Everything you said is so true. When my Aunt downed my collecting My mother said "At least I see where the money is going!" So I am still collecting and I was listening to you and trying to restring a doll.
Thank you so much for listening!!
I would love a video on planning what you can do with your dolls after you die. That would be so interesting to hear and would be really helpful. :)
Love this conversation.
Loved this advice! Thank you again, Rachel, for making my day!!!💞🥰
Absolutely wonderful video ❤ Thank you ❤
Thanks for your tips
You're welcome 😊
I wish we had more doll shows in Tennessee!
Love you Rachel, I'm in!!!
YAY, Pamela!!
Documenting the dolls is a great tip and one I hope to do more of.
So fun!!!!
Glad it was helpful!
Great video. Thank you Rachel ❤
Love your channel ❤
Thank you so much!!
This is a very interesting video and every word is so true, there's good ideas and things i didn't think of all very helpful. Thank you so much for this Rachel.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you so much! The one you are referring to is likely the antique Bru fashion, she is lovely! Thank you again, glad you enjoyed this!
As usual another great video! Thanks❤
Glad you enjoyed it!
Rachel, I have found for cloth bodies that no vac carpet/fabric sanitiser foam spray can work wonders on dolls from the 80s and may work on other dolls too
What a great tip, thank you so much!
I'm so glad to provide affirmation and celebrate your love for dolls, a passion that is indeed wonderfully normal and a beautiful part of who you are.
I totally know what you mean about splurging, I did that last year on a Simon and Halbig 1079 and her carrying case was also her wardrobe, full of beautiful dresses, shoes, some fake money, her own handbag and her own baby doll, she is my main profile picture 🙂
At the moment I am saving up and hoping to find a Kammer and Reinhardt 117n Mein Liebling with flirty eyes 😃
What a Wonderful way to grow up!
I’ve learned so much from you in the 2 weeks I e been on here! I think dolls brought me so much joy as a child that as an adult I was seeking the same joy. They really do bring pure joy and learning all this new stuff keeps the mind sharp! Thanks for all that you are sharing!
Thank you for your kind words, and for being a part of our Doll loving community ❤️
You are such an awesome lady! I sure needed to hear this today! Thank you for being so sweet and understanding! 🤗💖
Great video, thank you for making it. ❤
My pleasure!

Same to you!
I’m so glad for this video! I love all kinds of dolls, I just buy what speaks to me and not what I’m told is “good”. Dolls are works of art and you can really change a look or feeling of doll by restyling. ❤❤
Absolutely!! Thank you for sharing your thoughts!
Thank you Rachel🥰

Regarding keeping your dolls clean and in good shape, here are a few tips that might help:
Dusting Regularly: Using a soft, dry cloth or a small, soft-bristled brush, gently dust your dolls regularly.

I love your videos. So true.
LOVE you so much my BEAUTIFUL ANGEL Joe
LOVE your Channel gal! You are a Sweetheart!
Thank you so much!!

Try rewrapping in acid-free white tissue paper. Once your Barbies are wrapped, place them in an acid-free document box. Hope this helps❤
Dear fellow doll collectors...should an accident happen with one of your Antique Dolls, like severe breakage, remember to save the dolls eyes, wig, and all clothing, you will be able to use these items again on another Antique doll, you will be glad you saved these items from the broken doll.
👍🏼
Rachel, please tell your video editor to stop using stock footage of random people in your videos. We want to see you occupying the entire screen when you're talking to us. Clips from past VDC footage and personal photos are wonderful! ❤
HI! I would have preferred not to use the stock footage, but the camera was blurry on my face and focused on something in the background, and I had no time to film more footage when I realized it. I asked him to use the footage where it was out of focus as a last-minute fix.
Rachel is your shop haunted? Most doll shops are….
LOL Nope, not at all. I keep hoping but never see or hear a thing.
Wow i feel way less guulty about having a 1000$ collection, tysm
Thank you Rachel! ❤
