look, people will probably never realize (unfortunately) how far ahead these guys were compared to their contemporaries and all popular musicians at the time in terms of musicianship. we were witness to genius
Agreed. Wish I could have been at one of these shows and thoroughly baked Can’t smoke anymore bc it gives me panic attacks but weed and tool together was just an amazing thing
After exhaustingly rewatching all live Bottom videos online, how I have just stumbled across this one 11 years after it was posted?!?! This is definitely the best one.
Yes, it is. But if you are talking about performing a set of demanding songs, one after another, then you have to pick your spots. You can compromise on a few to peak and hit the most memorable screams. Being a rock vocalist myself, I can attest that it is all about managing your present conditioning, vocal health, and how the setlist is that you are yet to perform.
@@DuncanWLievi maynard knew how to properly sing (learned it as a choir boy) so he was able to scream with the best technique. While yeah it did its toll. its remarkable he was able to scream for 2 hours a night for 10 plus years.
@@slipknotmfkr3Nah, he can still do it. So can Corey. Hell, I’d argue Corey sounds better now than he did during All Hope Is Gone. I saw TOOL in October and Maynard sounds the best he has since ‘06. He hit all the high notes during The Grudge, even the scream at the end. What gets more difficult is holding out those high notes when you get older. Your vocal cords lose their elasticity, which is also part of the reason your voice becomes lower pitched as you age. Your lung capacity decreases as does the strength of your diaphragm, which is where the guttural screams come from. It’s age. Maynard, Corey, Chris Cornell, and all the good ones find ways to make do with what they have. Maynard will never sound as good as he did during AEnima. Because he’s also 30 years older than he was when he recorded those songs.

This tour was exceptional
How does this not have more views? It's Maynard at his very best.
They really need to play this again. What a fucking killer performance.

Holy s**t, this really is the best version of Bottom ever. 🙌
I really love Maynard’s alternate ending line, “it’s time to climb our way out from the bottom.”
Really? Being a TOOL fan since 1994 Id say this is the worst version.
Always nice when Jimmy gives us some alternate lyrics. See you down in Pennsylvania Bay.
Absolutely incredible performance
omg that was insane one of the bands best performances ive ever seen
Such a great performance. All the guys are so into it.
Underrated video
6:08 scream, is that possible to do without fucking up your vocal chords?
He did, that's why he can't do it anymore, kind of like Corey Taylor

Deeeeeeeeeeeeead Inside!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hey TheEonBlue...if you have the full concert plz upload it...!!
why did he change up the damn slow part in the middle. I loved those lyrics
the changed middle part is now even better!
the og slow part is actually sung by the vocalist from rage against the machine , thats why
@nameless no Henry Rollins sings the original part
@@itsyaboialex_2494 yes i meant to say "this slow part is sung by RATM" and then mention this other guy but i was turning into a fire engine (haha)

ypu live in the between
Last time it was ever performed live, right?
Seriously?!
no it was not the last time but this was the best ever perfomance of Bottom the did.
@@TheEonBlue so funny when people say subjective things in a non-subjective way
@@Justin-uf9lc this probably is the best performance of this particular song though

The last performance of Bottom by Tool
so far..
Sadly I don't think that Maynard has enough voice left for Bottom. We need to just relish older Tool videos and the album.
