Imagine them walking on stage... Inside an old auditorium, packed but amazing acoustics and intimate AF, and shortly after Ænima dropped. First Adam, shirtless & painted dark green Then Justin, same but painted dark blue Followed by Danny, shorts, T-Shirt, hi-tops and backwards cap (awesome) Finally, The Rev. MJK, half dark blue and half light blue, with a small blue-white centre line dividing. Oh, and I mean completely painted, head to feet, wearing tight shorts (also painted) walks out last. He takes the centre and grabs the mic stand. People start goi5 going bat-shite crazy and my mates & I are on the Floor, we were dumb kids & shoulda thought that through a bit better, but holy shite, we loved Tool. Suddenly, the crowd became a biomass, taking on a new & unique existence, it began to recognise it's new consciousness & grasping the shock one feels when one suddenly finds awareness and realises being, started moving side to side, like it was simultaneously taking first breaths and steps. Quickly attaining balance, the natural instinct kicked-in and relentlessly chasing a desire, it and every one surged forward in one movement. It was incredible and terrifying, if you fell you were fvcked. We squared, planted our feet and locked arms as it hit, holding each other up and (as is proper etiquette) helped anyone we saw start to fall or blocked and grabbed those who fell. Luckily, as it reached the barrier, there's no room or way to fall, but it sucked trying to breathe. The stage was ~3 m behind and 1.5 m "above" said barrier. All this happening in a matter of seconds. Meanwhile, Rev. MJK stands there, statuesque, a slight bend and hunched position, but eyes open & looking out at the biomass, as if he willed it into existence. Stoically, without a word and with such an intense presence, everyone fed off his energy. Then, the Light's completely fade-out. Colours and shapes appear. Danny starts THAT off-beat time signature, Adam & Justin add to the light, but building, soundscapes. Suddenly, a distant, echoing & filtered voice surrounds and you feel it from every direction: It's THE Late Prophet, Bill Hicks (Happy Late-Birthday, Sir! Another Dead Hero) Then it hits you: My First Live Tool Show (1 of 12, plus several Festivals) and with which track are they opening? Fvcking Third Eye!!!??!! A GD Trippy and Beautiful Journey, some would say "ballad" but they played the Entire Tack, adding so much and the change-ups? DAMN! It was incredible. Last song we'd guess to be the Opener. They played 2+ more hours. THAT stare and THAT voice, talk about Powerful. 💚🤙

No matter how far away life took us years later and additional destinations after Uni, we held try to our promise: If 3 or more make plans to see them, no matter where, all of us will attend. Pure and simply fantastic new metal combo on the scene .The Rollins band was playing with them on Tour / very powerfull association . They did " No Quarter " in a festival in belgium in 1993 ! The public was stunned the whole song .... golden age of rock it was for me defenetly .
