The Defense should be sanctioned and made to pay this man's legal fees. Make an example out of them. Every verdict now we have the Defense claiming Jury misconduct of some kind, when they lose.

Having to pay for my own attorney after being paid peanuts to sit for weeks on a jury is a good reason to avoid jury duty. Another reason is the jurors seem to be the only members of the court who are held to higher standard than the lying lawyers and lying witnesses. If I heard it once, I've heard it a million times.... perjury is rarely prosecuted!!!

29:40 I would love to be on the same page, but I’m an anxious person to the point where any time my boss asks me to come to their office I think I’m getting fired. Did I forget to save a file? I must be getting fired. Was I supposed to ignore the department mail? I picked it up, so I must be getting fired. I once convinced myself I was getting fired because I didn’t come business formal to a meeting with corporate, only business casual. Was anyone from corporate in business formal, no, and our dress code that day was like actual casual, but that doesn’t matter when you have an anxious mind.

I agree. That is what I immediately thought of. Speaking for myself, to hire an attorney would really be a financial insult to my household budget. So my choice would be to fly blind with no counsel or put the attorney fee on a credit card. It just seems really unfair when he did nothing wrong.

in high profile cases it is pretty easy to figure out what case your spouse is on. My dad was on a jury regarding a police embezzlement ring. It was covered on the news and my dad would get up and leave the room or change the channel if something came on the TV regarding it and he couldn't watch the news for weeks. (It was a long time ago when there were only 3 stations and not a lot of news coverage). My mom was able to figure out what trial he was on. I would think that the moment he told her that the trial was expected to take 2 months (which would not be a prohibited notification to a spouse and the impact on their life) that she would have known it was the Maya trial.

Good luck. In 55 years I’ve served on 9 juries, & a grand jury coming out of covid 19 lock down. I’ve since had jury duty 2 more times, the last on December 8, 2023 & thankfully they didn’t need a jury and went in front of the judge. For some reason I get called about every 2 years. My husband has been called 1/2 the times in the 34 years we’ve been married & has never had to sit on 1 jury or grand jury. Most of the time it settles before you actually have the jury together. I’ve just been lucky & have been chosen more than 1/2 the times as a juror, including the foreman 3x. I know people my age that have never even been called 1x or received 1 letter to serve.

I like the attire porcupine hairdoo with the quills on the side and in the back. Per Megan Fox Investigates (from Dr. Joe and Greg Anderson) Juror 1 had the choice to appear behind a screen. He declined that because he felt he had been wronged and wanted to appear in person. LOL! He decided to stay at the end. The defense table looked whooped and for once were somewhat quiet. He is standing up for himself and possibly clowning the defense. Note- the guys that signed the motion are not in court- they are zooming in. One still of Hunter is priceless.

Most of us don’t even tell our spouses the case we’re even on during that time. We don’t discuss it at all & my husband doesn’t & hasn’t ever asked, nor I him. So, she had to know that he was on the Maya case, or she spoke to him about going to watch the trial & he could have absolutely told her that he can’t discuss anything with him. His wife should have had a bit of better sense and stayed out of the court room or sat in the back & not let it be known that she was in the court room & that her husband was a juror. I do believe this man & know for a fact that it’s very easy to not discuss any case that I’m seated on for the jury.

    • @Julia-543
      @Julia-543 5 місяців тому

I mean, Judge Carroll today said if a juror’s spouse asked about the case, the jurors were specifically instructed by Judge Carroll to say “Judge Carroll is a meanie and says I can’t talk about it”. Spouse googles Judge Carroll and knows what case it is. Easy peasy while obeying instructions.
According to Jules in, I think Rob’s chat on Friday night, Jules didn’t know her husband was a juror when the wife was in court. I think the time for better sense was right after the verdict. It would have helped if he waited to speak up, especially with appeals lawyers already on the case (which his wife knew).
I think that should be the takeaway for potential jurors. Don’t stay off a jury. Follow the judge’s instructions and the oath you’ve taken. Go to the Judge if you’ve broken any instructions. Finally, don’t speak publicly immediately after the verdict. We need rational people willing to critically review the evidence and apply the required standard, like in criminal cases that’s innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt (that means the accused does not need to testify and does not even need to provide any defense). If you’re a juror on a high profile case, people will still want to speak to you even when its not the immediate aftermath of the verdict. Reach out to the lawyers for the winning party, ask if they have questions for you and ask if they will let you know once the judgement has been entered. Watch a little of the case coverage. After the judgement’s entered, if you still want to speak publicly, at that point reach out to people whose coverage you thought was fair or good. Jurors that spoke to the media right after the verdict accidentally caused a hassle for themselves in Vallow-Daybell, Maxwell, and other cases.

Peter, I really love your way of presenting things. You don't do a lot of opinion. You just state/explain legal facts. I also very much appreciate your knowledge of FL courts and laws on this one. I know you have to walk a bit of a tight rope since this is in your backyard. These are people you may have to work with/appear before, as well as being licensed in FL. Sometimes, stating legal facts can sound like you are biased simply because the law or decisions favor one or the other. It is easy to see biases when one is looking for it.

I had a coworker that was selected to be a juror in a pretty serious trial. It was about 2 months-ish. There was a few days he came into work, in the middle of it. They were excuse to work a few days.. I forgot why. He was very serious why he told EVERYONE, don't mention the trial, don't leave newspapers out (cuz newspapers were always in coffee break room), don't ask me, don't mention what you read in papers. I can't talk about it. Even with my wife. He kept the paper away from home. They had told him and he was very serious about it.
He never wanted to be selected but he was and he took it as a privilege to be on a jury. As we all should.
We didn't have social media, just newspapers and tv news. He wouldn't even watch tv news.
With everything they tell a jury ahead of time, it seems no one should make mistakes.

in April I went into the ER **6** times for horrific neck pain . According to clinical documentation every visit was treated as a “psych issue.” No treatment no radiology of any kind. 6th visit my kids drove up to where I was in the Prescott hospital Yavapai Regional Medical center and took me down to Honor Scottsdale Hospital where they immediately gave me an MRI and admitted me to their ICU with a fractured neck at c1 c2.
Haven’t been able to get a lawyer yet.
YRMC then went into my medical file and falsified my records. I have proof of this.

I keep seeing on the internet that 'Voir Dire' means 'to speak the truth' in French but it doesn't mean that. As a Belgian I was raised bi-lingual French/Dutch and 'Voir Dire' is French for 'to see, to say' To speak the truth in French is 'Dire la vérité'
