As a public defender, I’m quite proud of the work we do and our ability to take on difficult cases.
But man this would be a difficult one .
I will say this, I’ve been reassigned to represent defendants after the defendants asked for a new attorney due to a break down in communication with their assigned attorney .
90 percent of the time, the defendant actually had a legitimate reason to ask for a new attorney.
Biggest issue is communication . A lot or court appointed attorneys simply don’t communicate with their clients and don’t return their calls. Another issue is the court appointed attorney simply not doing any work on the case and just kicking the can down the road.
In the last few years I’ve only had to ask to withdraw from one case due to a break down in communication. The client was insistent on a non-sensical defense, wanted to introduce not relevant and inadmissible evidence at trial .

It’s like saying every single person with depression will commit suicide, it’s a gross generalization and completely untrue. People with personality disorders, even “narcissism”, are not people born with “inherently evil disorder” like media would have you believe. I disagree. I don't think 'he' was an abuser. I believe 'they' were abusers. It doesn't appear that she was the only victim. I think they victimized each other. I would be absolutely shocked if Jorge had been involved in domestic violence situations before his relationship with Sarah, and I'd be equally as shocked if the abuse in his relationship with Sara was instigated by him. Does it make it ok if she started the abuse and instead of leaving, he joined in and abused her, in return? Absolutely not. It makes him as bad as her, and as much of an abuser as she is. I don't think that him being the male partner in the relationship necessarily makes him the abuser, when it's clear that they both participated in abusing each other. So if he was an abuser, so was she. That makes him a victim, as well. If you look at it that way, she is also the abuser and he is also the victim. So she's just another killer, accused of abusing and victimizing her partner, until finally ending his life.

Sounds like the lawyer isn’t taking any BS. She’s telling it like it is. Sarah doesn’t like it and storms out. Her big concern 4 months from trial after years in jail is to apply for a bail hearing?
I think she is afraid. She isn’t hearing what she wants to hear.

She’s entitled to a lawyer. Add to that that she’s definitely a narcissist so she thinks she’s entitled to the nicest lawyer ever who talks to her in a baby voice to boot 😂

I think she doesn’t want to go over the evidence bc she KNOWS she’s guilty but she does not want to be punished for her actions! I have a feeling that she thinks the role of a lawyer is to present a defense that’s basically all lies- despite the facts & despite the evidence!
She clearly doesn’t want to be punished for her own actions! I think she should be forced to represent herself…if that’s even legal, bc she’s NEVER going to consent to a lawyer that’s not going to lie on her behalf!

No it’s not legal. At least not the way you worded it. She must be given the choice “take this lawyer or rep yourself”

@@kateashby3066 I mean, obviously she would have to be given the choice 1st…work w/your lawyers or go pro se w/ counsel assisting. I just don’t see that happening, but @ some point, the judge needs to ask how many lawyers can 1 person go through before we give her that choice-8,9,10? She’s gettin’ close! 🤦🏻‍♀️I think she’s been around “jailhouse lawyers” so long & they’ve given her these stall tactics, I’m sure she came up w/ most in her own. She’s so manipulative. She’s probably hoping to drag it out long enough to drive the prosecutors & defense attys crazy enough to get a plea deal for a much lower sentence, so all her stalling will add up to time served on a lower charge. Crazy. ✌️💜

Doesn't surprise me whatsoever. This is what I figured has been the issue the whole time. I think she is looking for someone to either lie for her or something similar. She will have to defend herself at this point. She thinks she is just so much smarter than everyone else and she refuses to be compliant.“A man who represents himself has a fool for a lawyer."
