- DIY Rod and Reel Storage Tube for Truck - PWF's Brandon shows you how he built a cheap diy rod and reel tube for his truck bed. Brandon wanted a way to safely store rod and reel combos in his truck bed while traveling. All the DIY rod tube videos he found were just that - they only held rods. Brandon believes he has found a cheap and practical way to transport rods and reels in your truck using PVC and a cheap item you might have laying around your garage. His diy rod storage solution will hold 5-7 fishing rods and reels. Brandon mounts his rod tube under his truck bed cover - you decide how you want to mount yours.

THANKS FOR WATCHING! - Навчання та стиль
WOW!!! Great idea! I have been looking for a solution to just putting my gear in the bed of my truck. Thanks for posting this!!!
You bet! Glad to help! Don’t let your father-in-law break it loading mulch like mine did though 😂 I’m on #2 now
Great idea. Rods, even the very best ones, aren't unbreakable. Best to take good care of them in transport.
Yes for sure! Still use it a lot. Stopped using the lid - gave me few more inches for longer rods. Tailgate acts as my lid now
Well done. I like they way it's not visible outside which seems more secure. Very cool to keep the reels intact also. Thanks for sharing this.
You bet, happy to help.
Brilliant! Love it!
Perfect for my needs!👍🏻
Great stuff It’s always a good day for fishing, and if you can’t fish, working on gear comes in second.
Thanks! I agree! I love to tinker and create new things… almost as fun as catching bass.
Thanks bro, this is exactly what I was looking for. Great idea!
You bet! Thanks for the feedback. Good luck with the build!
Very clever!
Still working great. I’ve been using my tailgate as a lid instead of bucket lid. Gives me like 3 more inches of space
Clever indeed
Hey man just want to say thanks. Good idea man.
Appreciate your comment! Glad to help! I still use it quite a bit. Only thing I do differently now is leave the lid off which gives me 3-4 more inches for longer rods. Tailgate acts as my lid now
@@PrestigeWorldwideFishing its good to get these tips/ideas from UA-cam for free. Fisherman need to spread more of their knowledge around. Thanks again.
I agree!
Nice! That solves a few problems 👍
Great! I use mine a bunch. I actually have been leaving the lid off so I can store longer rods
Didn't solve any problems just a waste of money
You don’t need to get on here and trash everyone else it worked for. That isn’t fair
@@PrestigeWorldwideFishingJust be honest about issues with this. People shouldn't waste time and money on something that won't work for them. Hopefully a little truth won't hurt too much or stop your UA-cam $$$ from coming in.
Do you think their is a way to lock your rods and reels in their, like if your truck bed can't fit the length and you want to put it on like a roof rack any suggestions? Great video very creative!
Thanks! I’ve been looking and looking and can’t think what it is called but I know I have seen it. Basically a metal band that would wrap around bucket. It has a flat piece of metal that is hinged on one side that would lay over top of lid. On the other side it has a hole that latches/locks back into the band on the bucket.
I’m going to figure this out and get back to you because now it is driving me nuts.
@@PrestigeWorldwideFishingyou ever find the name out?
No, I can’t figure it out. I wish I could upload a picture to google and it would tell me what it is called 😂 I have it in my mind but have no clue what it is called. Maybe I should just make it myself and I will mail it to you
@@PrestigeWorldwideFishing I’d be up for that!
I will see what I can do. Happy 4th brother
Wouldn’t it fit straight in?
No. These newer trucks have bigger cabs, making the beds shorter. Had to angle it to get it over 7 ft. Wish I didn’t have to because it just takes up more space and makes it harder to get combos in. Works well for keeping my rods up and out of the way though, so I’m happy with it.
Not the most elegant but I love that it keeps your fishing gear out of the way if your cargo
Yes! Not the most streamline but it does work. I actually have been leaving lid off so I have a little more room for longer rods.
what's the length of your truck bed?
5’9” not much room
I don't know what kind of dinky rod/reels you put in or if you used some kind of camera magic. My wife made this for me as a Christmas gift and only 2 rod/reels fit. Even that took a lot of hassle to get them in. I have mostly spinning rods/reels for inshore saltwater. I'm beyond upset she wasted money and time because of this video. She feels terrible because of wasting time and money on a useless gift. I'm sure you could care less. 😡😡🤬🤬
I’m sorry it didn’t work for you. I use mostly baitcast rods in 7-7’3” range. Apologies for your bad experience, only try to help people discover what I did
@@fishnusa Then make one to fit your rods. Use your imagination. Everything made is made to be modified.
@@fishnusa lmao are you serious???
Let's go Brandon
😂
Misleading waste of money. Doesn't work for inshore saltwater spinning rods and reels.
Sorry this didn’t help. There is never one size fits all. I said “up to” and a lot of that is dependent on truck bed length and what rods you are storing. Has worked perfect for me, but I’m a bass fisherman and primarily use casting rods.
Fishnusa- he never said it was for inshore saltwater combos.
Take a deep breath, thank the man
@PrestigeWorldwideFishing my wife was the one who wasted the time and money building this as a Christmas gift to me. If I knew what she was up to, I could've told her it wasn't going to work for my rods and reels. The length wasn't the issue. I usually take 3-4 rods with me. Only being able to fit 1 in this defeats the purpose.
