What puts Halo over the top of other sci-fi shooters for me isn't the set pieces, isn't the gameplay, not the story, and not the world lure... its the background music. So sexy!
I think from Halo 1 they felt strongly that the sound and music was critical to the series, the original Xbox was the system with the best audio at that point. George Lucas claims that the audio side of a film is about half the fun, for games I wonder if that might be true or not.
Yea I agree. I think game devs often don't put enough time and money into the sound of games. TLOU is an another amazing example of great audio. BFBC2 has amazing audio, because of that game I bought my first headset. If Halo didnt have that amazing music it would be another Resistance, Killzone, Syndicate, or Crysis. Which are just O.K games. But I admit the visuals of Halo 1 were something extra special at the time but now other shooters have great visual set pieces too.
ju5tinpyne ikr, these guys are like 343 you suck, halo 4 is crap yadda yadda yadda. They tried their hardest and gave the xbox an astounding game, and the majority of the halo community gave them so much shit. I love halo even though I don't own a console, I've watched all the cutscenes for all the games, I'm reading the series, I have played Halo: Combat Evolved, Halo 2, and Spartan Assault on the PC, and I've watched Forward Unto Dawn (great movie). IMO (in the point of view of a PC gamer) Bungie is worse than 343. This doesn't really have to do with this video much but I still need to say this. Their reasons for keeping their new game Destiny away from PC are completely and utterly horrible. They literally said "it's too hard" and left it that. 343 gave PC a taste of Halo with Spartan Assault (not much of a taste, but something) and with all the new Halo stuff coming out with the TV series and 5 and everything else, I'm pretty hyped about Halo even without Bungie. Good on you 343
Halo 4 got so much hate because certain people dont like change. Bungie to 343. And certain people dont want halo to do well because they like cod. Or a ps fan. Or they just don't like the genre
Cynical Plum No because there are weapons on the map. SAME EXACT way of having weapons spawn on a timer, but they have them drop in game in a unique way. There aren't any "killstreaks"... you get ordinance packages that are random and not to your choosing so maybe you luck out one game. It is still a level playing field. Perks? You do realize that the books starting from Halo CE til now have had those perks, right? Small things like FINALLY being able to SPRINT away from danger instead of painfully jogging is a HUGE breath of fresh air! You obviously have NO idea of what you are speaking of, so I'll just ignore anything you have left to say about the game, because you are apparently an uneducated fool.
Compared to Halo 4, Halo 5 feels so dead. The amount of emotion I could feel in Halo 4, it was non existent in 5. Halo 4 is my favourite Halo game after Halo 2.
Exactly but I'm starting to get hope back with halo infinite cuz they are going back to the original roots of halo, old soundtrack, old art style, etc, I'm hyped
@@liamarthofer267 ye man halo is the one thing I miss about xbox owning a PS4. I don't regret getting a PS4 though, xbone has been such a disappointment when it comes to singleplayer exclusives.
Really? I thought the exact opposite. Given that Halo Reach was my first Halo and that I didn't really play much online, it should come as a surprise that at how much I liked Halo 4. My brother and I were engrossed a lot more into Halo 4 because of it's story driven campaign and the relationship to Cortana. I wasn't expecting to care so much about an AI, expecially since this was the first time I'd seen both Cortana and Master Chief in action, but that's exactly what 343 was able to do.
Reach was just as bad for multiplayer. Halo 2 and Halo 3 are the definitive multiplayer that everyone remembers and loves for its skilled ranking and high skill gap gameplay
The biggest Problem with the Halo community today that basically half of us are never willing to accept change. Its true that Halo 4 was not the best Halo (in my opinion Halo 3 was the best) but hey there is a lot of time for 343i to polish the rough edges and just stop bashing them into oblivion. At this point i think the Halo Community is Far worst than the CoD Community. There I said it. Jesus for all of you that think Sprinting should be removed, does it make sense that a Super soldier can't run and instead must walk the whole FUCKING time?
Cody Nguyen been a halo fan for about 10 years played halo 1-3 campaigns about a thousand times. When I first got halo 4 I didn't like it because it just wasn't the halo we know and love. I ended up selling the game a couple times and rebuying it because there was something I wanted out of it that I could never quite put my finger on. Up till now I think I know the problem and you are right, change from bungies halo to 343's is definitely the issue. 343 made their own game and that's what people lack to see, halo 4 is in fact the best halo game all around and all you have to do is look on the screen to see if I'm right. Halo isn't bungies halo anymore, the community needs to embrace this and when they do I guarantee they will be happy with what they get because I love halo 4 and I think it's a great game in its own right. Also, people may not know this but halo 4 is the only halo game ever to win GOTY, they did a fantastic job and they earned it being it be their first game ever.
It's amazing how so many people said this game sucks all because it wasn't exactly like Halo 3. People shit on Call Of Duty for not changing but they kick Halo 4 in the balls for experimenting a little bit. There is a reason why Halo 4 got a 9.8/10 because it deserves it. If only more FPS titles were at this level of quality. I'm looking at you, Aliens: Colonial Marines....
I'm sorry but you couldn't be more wrong. Halo 4 failed not because it dared to change, that is something that we all wanted, it failed because it changed to the level that it barely relate able to Halo. What people want from the next installment is the evolution of the game, not a completely new one. So while you may enjoy the game that is good for you, but more people play Halo Reach on average then Halo 4. Even if Halo 4 did have more the numbers sit at 10 - 20 thousand at highs, that's pitiful compared to most successful games.
***** In my opinion, it's still Halo but it's just been modified to make it more accessible. Don't get me wrong, I love the previous games especially Halo: Reach and those games defined the genre. But I just hate the fact that people freaked out because Halo has default sprinting and customizable loadouts. I've been with Halo since 2002, so I'm not just some newcomer.
TRENEX 379 I completely understand that. Personally I have no issue with the inclusion of these new additions, although they need to be inclusions instead of replacements. If Halo 4 had shipped with the ability to chose to play classic/legendary or infinity it would have done fine. So while we can debate what classic should have been just having something where I don't have to worry about every player always having a power weapon at their feet would be great. So while we can debate exactly what Halo 4 should have had I think the main point here is that no one really wants a cut and paste of Halo 3 (apart from MLG) but neither did what 343 did accomplish very much either.
Dolphinsco Why is it that everybody in the Halo fandom loved Halo 2, despite it being completely different from Halo CE? There's a difference between good change and bad change. Increasing the hitbox magnetism and awkwardly squeezing perks and care packages into Halo's MP wasn't really the kind of change that we were looking forward to.
i understand what your saying, but i dont personally see how halo 1 and 2 are that different.other than dual wielding.halo 4 didnt really have extremely positive change.but it still worked.it was a pretty fun game.it felt wierd, but still it played smoothly.in my opinion.
The main problems with Halo 4 have been fixed though updates. 343 added new game types, including a classic slayer that plays exactly like halo 3. The only main problems with it now are the lack of players and the fact that there are still only 130 levels
Halo 2 will always be my favorite because of the memories and it's simplicity. But there is no denying this is the most refined and most balanced Halo yet. And, in my opinion, the best. 343 did it right.
I don't agree, I thought the best story ones were Halo 1-3 (particularly Halo 1 and 2, which in my opinion were the best ones in single player). I played all the way through Halo 4's and I thought it was by far the worst. On top of that I found it way more childish than the other ones, did not care for the new characters, and I did not like the new designs. The multiplayer to me was the worst part of the game, even if they fixed it for the most part. The only way I'll probably buy another Halo game is a Halo 2 Anniversary (with the Halo 2 multiplayer). I do play ODST for Firefight though, to me Reach destroyed it.
you may have just seen my comment about haters and how its all just a huge cycle, but ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME? BUNGIE MADE THE MASTER CHIEF WHAT HE WAS. A SOLDIER. 343 MADE HIM INTO A ROMEO.
More fanboys of cod. Aw is an awful game. The only reason it did well is because of Kevin spacey. I have a friend that bought it just to listen to him.
Honestly, not trying to defend the game, but Halo 4 is a really solid title. It's solid on all accounts. The shooting is just plain addicting. It's fast paced and thrilling, and the story is deep. The multiplayer, too, is really fun and addicting.
What really helped Halo 4 was putting Downes and Taylor in the same recording booth at the same time to give you more of that emotional feel to it. Really does bring a grown ass man to tears!
why the hell does everyone hate halo 4? whats so bad about it? is it because they put prometheans in the game? are you mad because they put new enemy types in? THATS A GOOD THING! did you not even try to enjoy it? whats going on?
PigmanCast you make it sound like call of duty doesn't do the same thing. its the most common thing in the gaming industry, in anything actually. if something works, use it. It's still Halo, you don't run and gun the same way you do in CoD, and its refreshing to see that Halo added more features to the game. Halo 4, imho, was the 2nd best Halo game, the first being 3. 4 added way more depth into the characters while at the same time keeping their integrity in tact. I personally got more attached to chief and cortana in 4 than i did in any of the other games, and it served as a good segue into understanding pre-john 117 events. its highly philosophical, but entertaining and viable none the less.
THUNDERTURTLE because we didn't want one and we wanted master chief to be left alone, we realized that Microsoft may be milking the series though since they have plan for halo 6, a halo show, and 2d minigames
THUNDERTURTLE They need to just end master chiefs story hes being around long enough and the only reason hes still around because Microsoft want to milk the character out even more.
Lee Goodman You must not understand the concept of milking. Every Halo game feels naturally released and not stretched out. There hasn't yet been a meaningless main Halo game, and its all a natural progression. Like a good TV show.
For me 343 did an absolutely amazing job, Halo 4 looks amazing, sound system is refined, the story is brilliant and pretty easy to follow; a much darker stroy-line now which is way better. (the original halo story-line was good but got boring where master chief saved the world without breaking a sweat, but here he is struggling) Well done 343
_to people who use the 343's first game excuse_ retro studio's first game was a phenomenal success with metroid prime which has lower gen technology and had to reinvent a 2d sidescroller into 3d, where as this game is a sequel with many games for 343 to work off of and a 7th gen game, using the "their first game" to defend the flaws is invalid because their first time doesn't mean they suck at making games
Nah it's that multiplayer was so unbalanced and filled with assault rifles jet pack promethean vision sticky grenades shielding and explosives bolshots and active camo
I fell sad because of all the hate 343 gets, Bungie could clearly not come up with much more that didn't feel repeterive! I thank 343 for giving Halo this exciting new twist :) So excited for Halo 5 Guardians, Master Chief collection and so on
I'm thanking them for even wanting to keep the series going, giving John a personality, I'm not dumb for thanking them. Personally, you seem more like a Bungie fan, then Halo :/
***** They killed Halo for a year. Everyone knows that all Halo fans will purchase the Master Chief Collection and Halo 5. If the games are good, then the community will definitely come back.
I'm sick and tired of this whole what is a true Halo game argument. It's turned this once great fanbase into a bunch of bratty kids claiming that they're true Halo fans just because they like one game over the other. I have a thing to say to both groups of people arguing. First to the people who argue than 2/3 are the best, stop bitching about every single god dam change that makes the game slightly different than Halo 2 or 3. Second to the people who argue that Halo 4 and Reach are the best, not every single change that they made is evolution to the frachise, and somethings should stay the same. Evey Halo game is fantastic in its own right, and every game has made its mistakes.
RIGHT! They just see the trend of mashing halo 4 , and their they go. Ive read all the nobles, played all the videogames, read all the comics. I like them all, love their story, and this game, it shows that they really put effort into the gameplay, and the story fits almost perfectly with the story overall. There are far worst games, that dont put the same effort into a game. Most people here don't even know what the story is really about, the games are just the way to live your reading.
The whole whiny brats thing is now on every video game and film. It is sad that we have come to the point where nearly everyone on the internet is a troll.
Thanks, you've opened my eyes. I'm being sincere, trust me. Like you said, all Halo games are fantastic in their own way, and as one commenter has pointed out, there's a trend of bashing Halo 4. I love all of the games, personally.
What i dont like abt halo 4 are all the unnecesary changes. They still havent patched the dmr and boltshot. Only cod players who need a crutch use that gun. Sprint as default is stupid. No theater in campaign? Come on! Forge was so bad i could cry. Custom game options were ruined. The community had to mod to make customs fun. Official race gametype wasnt made until a year after it was released. No playable elites? No unsc flying vehicle? Why do all the spartans look like they're armor went through a meat grinder? Ordinance made way too much unnecessary randomness. Perks were really unnecessary. Vehicles were nerfed so much, especially the scorpion and gauss hog. Why does the boltshot have a longer one hit kill range than the shotgun? Why does master chief look so different when he woke up from cyro sleep. Why is the menu all blue. Pretty lazy if you ask me. And why oh why did you not put the mammoth in multiplayer?
I remember when this first came out that EVERYONE loved it and it brought in many people that haven't played Halo before and they enjoyed it a lot. But now it seems to get a lot of hate after 1 year of its release. I don't understand why people now are hating on it when its still a very great game when it comes to storytelling, visuals, sound, and multiplayer. At first I didn't really like the multiplayer much but now they tweaked many stuff that was wrong with it. COD gets hate for making their games the same but yet when Halo makes things different but with the same Halo feeling they get almost as much hate. Smh. Nothing will make people happy anymore.
Many say 343 ruined mutiplayer because of its COD features. Bloom, AA's, Loadouts (Yeah, I know Reach had them), and more specifically the Boltshot. Which is regarded as a pocket shotgun, with more assuming it breaks game balance. This is a sad day for Halo 4. All the fanatical anticipation building up since 2007. All wasted. Personally, I think it's great but falls in a few categories.
I love the boltshot since its actually a useful secondary weapon that I use a lot of the time and they actually patched it so its not as powerful as it was (still one hit kills if EXTREMELY close). The bloom adds more skill to the gameplay and loadouts are in almost every FPS now. No game is perfect obviously and whenever they add something people seem to hate it, they can't make it the same like what COD is doing. I don't know why this is getting more hate than Reach. Reach has more of a lame multiplayer since the maps are the worst out of all the Halo's and it didn't feel like much of an upgrade as what a lot of people say. Loved the campaign of Reach but why must they have to have the least creative map designs that came out of the campaign and yet the best maps were forge ones? Laziness. This was 343's first game and they did great for the most part. I thought the worst thing about Halo 4 was the first few episodes of Spartan Ops since it was boring and stupid. Until they released the last half which was extremely fun because the levels were gorgeous and the missions had more replay value to it. But yeah 343 added COD features but it does still feel like Halo still and the more you play it the less you really notice or get bugged by it. So why the hate now when they patched everything people had complaints on?! Makes no sense.
Deceived Heretic Well, many still feel alienated from the drastic changes to the series multiplayer. I really would like that they bring it back to the original formula but make changes everyone would like and not go crazy about it.
***** And Halo 4 has a totally different take on the story compared to halo 1,2,3, and reach. I'm not disputing that they added Call of Duty changed but if you look at every single first person shooter they all have Call of Duty shit in their games. Everyone loves Titanfall but that has many features that they took from Call of Duty. This is the first game 343 made and the game won't be perfect but Halo 4 does have one of the 2 best stories in the halo franchise so I don't understand how him landing on a Forerunner planet trying to stop the Didact while Cortana is dying is the same shit over again?!
***** Not really if you think about it we knew about the perks, loadouts, and ordinance long before the game came out, yet all that we said was 'wooo yaaa Halo 4' which basically sent a message to 343 that we didn't mind those things. Yes we're complaining now, but at this point in time the game has been built around those aspects and they can't change it, but chances are back in the summer of 2012 they could, yet we gave them no reason to. I know what you're going to say, but it doesn't change the fact that maybe Halo 4 would of been different if we complained back then. Oh and by the way, you're on my comment now so you can't delete any comments that you don't disagree with like a child anymore LOL.
EPiiCx5587 I agree with everything you said. I've been a hardcore Halo fan ever since Halo CE. It had one of the most loyal fanbases and was praised even when Halo 4 was out but now I'm almost ashamed to love it since people make fun of me for it since its like "COD" apparently but I know its still Halo and they do different things with the games every time and it mostly works. I was happy for what 343 did since they made Master Chief and Cortana more of how they are in the books and the story was phenomenal and its nice to see the Didact finally. Sure some things in the multiplayer needs to go but overall they did good. Every loved the game when it came out but for some reason I hear no one likes the game now. There is actually not much wrong with it. We liked the perks, loadouts, and ordinances when we played it but now we can't stop complaining about it and every gave up for only that reason. Everyone hated how the BR was weak and after they tweaked all the weapons to make them all balanced people complain more! What makes people happy these days?
Lane Alder " We liked the perks, loadouts, and ordinances when we played it" If you really mind that, then I don't see how you can say you're a "hardcore" fan. The loadouts and ordinance ruin the game's balance, and everyone in the competitive community says that since Reach. 343i knew H4 would be a deception for the fans, but their objective was to attract a new community with features taken from CoD, they wanted to renew Halo players. That didn't work, fans went back to old Halos, and new casual players still like CoD or BF better. Halo 4 is a failure, both on the conception and on the updates, that didn't fix the broken gameplay: the BR buff was a good thing, but the flinch, sprint, instant spawn, flag pick-up, ordinances, loadouts etc are still there.
NoblAesthesia I didn't say I actually liked the perks, loadouts, and ordances but people didn't mind it at first since they knew that was all coming since they told everyone they were doing it but people were still excited. I do think its the worst Halo multiplayer there is but its not actually as bad as you claim it to be. I can accept a few changes and I love the sprint, instant spawn, flag pick-up (other things you mentioned do need to go I must agree and also the boltshot). Those are welcome changes I accept since we CANNOT have the same game over and over again like COD is known for just like how I didn't mind the bloom in Halo: Reach since it was different and added a new strategy and change into the games. The multiplayer is good but is the worst of the franchise but that doesn't mean you should hate what is the best story of the Halo games and best paced (and not the repetitive we must destroy a Halo throughout Halo 1,2, and 3) . Its more like it is in the books. And yes I am a "hardcore" Halo fan. Read almost all the books and I am currently reading the new comics. But no Halo 4 wasn't overall a failure. It made lots of money and it expanded a beautiful universe and story with one of the best graphics and sounds of games that were out at the time and was almost critically acclaimed for many reasons. The horrible thing about the game I thought was the first half of the Spartan Ops season since it was extremely repetitive and boring.
This games makes me think about the game for weeks and months.. i cant get the visuals and cutscenes out of my head, everything looks so beautiful.. its like a dream.. when i was at the 4 runners stage, i thought i was dreaming..
+john tyler A bit? Ratios ind of say your being ironic. Hopefully no offense taken there, because I do know people will get offended for stupid things.
I didn't mind Halo 4. I wasn't bad, but wasn't that great either, and CERTAINLY not "the best Halo ever". I get the Ryan is a serious Halo fanboy, and I do love the series, but he was smoking something seriously strong before this review. I'd be ok with a copy paste of Halo 2 for Halo 5 to be honest. 2 and 3 were just magic.
MYTHICALTWINKIE Bungie fanboy?? Why am I a bungie fanboy? Because Halo 2 was my favorite? Ok... 343 dropped the ball on Halo 4. Everyone knows it. Did I enjoy it? Yes. Was it awesome? No. Does Halo 5 look good? Yes. Way to sound like a child by calling me a fanboy.
neil morton thats like if I said mario kart was irrelevant, lol mario kart started in the 90s and its still awesome, sounds more like destiny fanboy to me, outta style...bro
+Ryan Freeman I would assume at first they hated 343 and Halo 4 because Bungie no longer develops it, but now Halo 4 and 5 is subpar compared to other past Halos. You see here in the comments, a majority of the peoples defense against the game is "it's not that bad" There's really no defense saying that Halo 4 is the "best" halo.
Wave I respectfully disagree. I would take IGN's cancerous comment sections with a pinch of salt. There are many who believe 4 is worth of it's predecessors, or even better and the 'best'.
TheGusBus97 It's not just IGN and it's comments, look at the gamerankings for Halo 4 and 5 vs Halo Reach or any other Halo game made by Bungie (Excluding ODST) Halo 4 and 5 are a step below from what Bungie ever made storywise. Many people do consider Halo 4 to be the best game in the Halo franchise, but an even larger majority thinks that Halo 4 is a step down from what Bungie ever made.
People thought 343 purposely made Halo 4 more of a CoD in its multiplayer. I didn't mind at all actually. Graphics are great, story is good enough for me, and gameplay is solid.
Im just here to show the developers of halo4 love. This is the best halo, its so cool n stylish. So fun to play. The best halo of the series. Thank You!
I like the idea of ranking up, but spending SRs? No! How about do it like Reach: Earn credits and get actual military ranks, and beyond, as once your high enough, you get Forerunner, and reclaimer.
Deez Nutz Reach credits also are for everything in the game, it really shows how hard you worked if you have inclement weather, Mark V or VI helm, EVA [C], Undead variant of Pilot. You can still be elites in reach.
"what if halo 4... is the best halo ever..?" NO NO NO, 343 TOTALLY RUINED IT, IT'S CRAP, THEY MUST BE SHUNNED!! kidding, i have halo 4 myself, it's a fun game, i believe that 343 succeeded with this because all throughout the other games, 343 was there, helping bungie, they know what halo needed, and they delivered. (granted, there were a COUPLE things that were dissapointing, but in the end it was a good game, i just hope we can play as elites again soon)
***** yeah, halo reach is fun too, lots of time on it, though i'm annoyed that my service record prettymuch resets after every update... i was a Lt. Colonel with a metal arm :c
Halo 4 was great, but they just ripped too much content, no more brutes, scarabs, spikers, choppers, falcons, hornets, and the soundtrack was badly used, and the campaingh could have 10 levels instead of 8 (sorry for english, I am from Brazil)
wow man. got this game at a local game shop for $5 bucks but did not know how great the game would actually be. Ive played a little bit of the multiplayer but the campaign is awesome. I only play on hardest so Ive gotten my ass kicked but man it never felt so good.
+David Lueke That is solely your opinion. I've experienced all the Halo's, and 4 is definitely different. But in my eyes equally great as Bungie's titles in it's own, unique way. His opinion might not alter differently, everyone's is different.
+TheGusBus97 Definitely. And at its heart it feels like a Halo game. Amazing maps, great weapons and gameplay, and some kickass multiplayer. Also the campaign is sweet.
Bebe Apple Yeah, Sony who's market value is worth 18 billion and is currently selling off it's main assets and going through a corporate spin-off...just to cover themselves: www.bloomberg.com/news/2013-11-01/sony-loses-2-2-billion-in-market-value-after-hirai-forecast-cut.html Microsoft's market value is 250+ billion dollars, that's no company assets or revenue included. Plain ol' shares being used to build the company...better than credit! LOL!! If anything that's what you call confidence in a company. While Sony paid a meager 200mil just to purchse Gaikai for the "cloud 'streaming' service", lol! Microsoft spent billions in 2009 for R&D alone for Azure and it's Datacenters and recently spent 250 million in finland for more Datacenters: twthereddragon.blogspot.com/2013/06/xbox-one-games-on-dedicated-servers.html www.datacenterknowledge.com/archives/2013/09/03/microsoft-to-build-250-million-data-center-in-finland/ So if anything, that is what you call GROWTH. So just because you heard from some investors or major investors trying to start a "bearish" movement to become near billionaires faster than later, doesn't hold NOTHING to what Microsoft see's in the Xbox One with it's HUGE revenue streams...ALL aside from console sells. WOWZA! seekingalpha.com/article/1892021-read-this-slowly-microsofts-non-profitable-xbox-one-is-a-bullish-sign So get your facts straight before you start calling people stupid...stupid! EDIT: Beside, this is the first time both compnay release at the same time. If anything Microsoft is no slouch when it comes to competition. They've went against nations. What makes you think they aren't already investing heavily into first party studios?! They are innovating gaming and Halo will be great. With technologies like Tiled Rendering and Cloud Computing, you'll see bigger and more detailed worlds and smarter AI. Multiplayer Online gaming is the future and Xbox One is future proof.
Kenny Lay Wow, that was an old post. But seems like everything is falling in line. Last time their market value was 18 billion, it has slumped significantly now at 2 billion. But no one will consider that. It's the long haul, and Sony will try it's best to stay on edge with Microsoft, so far they have indeed won the minds of hardcore gamers, still the 90%(casuals) to go. www.otcmarkets.com/stock/SNE/profile Hell even Nintendo has more shareholder confidence than Sony with 14 billion. The real competition begins next year.
+Daxter Reach was terrible. It completely butchered the canon, story was ahit and made absolutely no sense, unbalanced mutiplayer, loadouts, bloom, and MANY other things. Halo 4 was pretty much a copy and paste from this except with an actual decent story.
best xbox 360 games 1. Mass Effect 2 2. Halo 4 3. Gears of War 3 4. Bioshock 5. The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings 6. Grand Theft Auto IV 7. Fallout 3 8. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare 9. Splinter Cell: Blacklist 10. Fable II
Joe Caggiano While I hate when companies do annual releases, AC4 was released in just one year and it was about 50x better than AC3, so 2 years may be enough time for Halo.
JCagg Assassin's Creed is always released for one year, yet it doesn't stop it from being one of the greatest franchises. Now Look at Duke Forever. Almost 10 years... For what?
Ya know for all of u who r complaining out there, u people seriously can never be pleased. When halo 3 came out u were complaining that it wasn't as good as halo 2 and u said it sucked. Than when Reach came out u said that sucked and said halo 3 was awesome. Now were at halo 4 and ur still complaining. U wanted the story to continue and it has. In a brand new direction. All 343 wanted to do was spice things up and they did.
***** Yeah sure... From what I heard Halo 3 DID have have quite a bit of complaints just because it didn't live up to Halo 2 or some other dogcrap reason. I mean hey a least this stuff is a different experiance everytime... A lot of you Halo fans may not know but unlike "Some other game fanbases" (Cod) you people don't have it near as bad. (And I don't mean all of you, but A LOT of you)
Halo CE was the first game I bought on the original Xbox. I have loved the series since and have beaten every game at legendary. With that said I like what 343 did with Halo 4. I think people measure it too much to Bungie's Halo. 343 wanted to go their own direction with it and they did just that. They went deep into Halo folklore, if you didn't read the books, you would have no idea who The Didact was in the campaign. They introduced the forerunners as a fight able nemesis as supposed to a mysterious race. They got rid of Cortana. Graphically imo I think it is a very gorgeous game. When the didact ripped the composer from the research station, while chief was trying to talk sense to a rampant Cortana (all in live gameplay) gave me chills. With that being said they pushed the X360 to it's limits graphically and had to settle for more linear campaign maps which I didn't like. Overall with the Ones superior hardware and resources, and Halo 5 being in 2-3 years of developement when it's released. I will be very excited to see what they did
I don't understand #datlogic either. But I did like the story and multiplayer best. I think it;s partly down to the fact that I mainly played custom games with my friends on Halo 3/Reach, and it wasn't good on Halo 4.
Halo 4's first half was fucking amazing. It even rivaled Combat Evolved which has one of my favorite fps campaign ever made, but the second half got way too repetitive and boring. Multiplayer was pretty fun but Reach was way better to me.
Okay, I agree, Halo 4 campaign's was amazing, maybe even my favorite. It had awesome varied battles in many types of scenery, and had the best story in Halo yet. But the multiplayer? Hell no. The reason there were no instant classics is because none of those maps were good enough to be a classic, maybe besides Haven. The additions like the perks could have been good if done differently, but the way they were done betray something i found most important in Halo: Everyone starts even. You shouldn't be able to get better guns and perks because you play more. If they really wanted to do that they should have done loadouts like in Reach, when you have different armor ability and perks, but not different weapons. And they chose what you get, and everyone can get it. And one less complaint that i think isn't really talked about that much: The armor. Halo 4's armor is not appealing and you can barely spot any change while playing. Halo Reach once again had it better with way more cool and distinguishable armor pieces that if you saw in battle you were like: Dam i wanna get that. So yeah, this game doesn't deserve more than a 8.5
In Halo 4 you don't get better guns and abilities as you level up past maybe level 20, and the guns don't really vary in greatness, just the players' preferences and how they play
+PyroMachinima Halo 3 is my fav ever, but Halo 4 was extremely fun. It got an 87 on Metacritic from professional critics. It's multiplayer may not be as balanced, but the shooting is terrific, as well as the maps. Exile is literally one of my favorite Halo maps ever.
You can spawn with a pocket shotgun (Which is actually more effective than the UNSC Shotgun) and literal temporary wallhacks, and just camp the entire game with no consequences. The amount of people that do this is what killed the game's multiplayer for me.
Halo 4 was outstanding for 343i's first Halo game, but it is by no means the best Halo. That title rightfully belongs to Halo: Reach in terms of the best all-around gameplay experience, or Halo 3 if you've eyes only for multiplayer. One thing is undeniable; regardless of whatever mistakes were made in Halo 4, it is still better than the atrocity that is Halo 5: Guardians.
Wouldn't say a CoD clone aha. It's because the multiplayer lacked, custom that is. Story was good, some of the best voice acting and story writing Halo has seen. It may not be the best Halo game, but it was a good one, far better than 5.
Slenderspartan 1.sprinting unnecessary 2.graphics and audio took a crap 3.no firefight ? 4.reach had a better multiplayer set up 5.Better customization and points system 6.story switched environments so it didn't get boring 7.made by a company that cared about the community
Overall I would say Halo 4 is the best Halo on Xbox 360, but it doesn't beat the original. The campaign is very fun and the weapons have been beefed up. Its very much improved on from Halo 3. And the graphics are damn good for Xbox. Also the gun sounds are great. Halo 3's assault rifle sounded terrible. The multiplayer is fun however there are some playlists that are missing and there is no firefight. Also there aren't enough maps. Playing slayer, you got like 4 maps to chose from. It gets very old very fast. The master chief collection will solve that issue.
The Campaign is fine, but it could have been a little bit better and could have had another mission or 2. Multiplayer needed to be alot better than it was, mainly focusing on the casual side and not nearly enough of the competitive side, Halo 3 got it just right. If they fixed those issues, had Forge Islands in the original game instead of free DLC later on, had customizable Elites in Multiplayer, had Duel Wielding and the Plasma Rifle, had the Invasion game mode from Halo: Reach and a better Ranking System, (I know, its alot) this would have been a 'Great' Halo game. Now Halo 4 is a great game, its just not a great Halo game, but Halo: The Master Chief Collection will fix all that. I cant wait to see the Arbiter in full HD after 7 years, and 'that' makes me happier than you know. My Rating: 8.6 • Great Campaign (+) • Great Visual (+) • Best Audio in Halo to date (+) • Not the best multiplayer compared to past Halos (-) • Took out many fan favorite weapons and game modes (-) • Although good, the music doesnt compare to Marty O'Donnels Music for past Halo titles (-)
i loved this game, its just it doesn't support the community as the other games do, and the campaign was the most linear of the series, cant wait to see what 343 can do with halo 5 though :)
+John Moon you must be new here. bc cod is halo (first one) 2.0 cod took that. and when halo tried to take it back people accused halo of stealing cods multiplayer.
This would be the best halo game if 343 didn't try to expand too the mindless shooter audience with create a class and the many other tweaks, it doesn't suit halo AT ALL, thats why the community doesn't play it anymore. Seriously it doesnt feel like halo anymore, 343 needs to fix this for the next halo, because reach mechanics were the farthest the franchise could go before changing, I really want to go back, but i can't until they make it halo again....
After some time reflecting: 1. Halo 2 2. Halo 3 3. Halo reach 4. Halo 4 5. Halo CE 6. Halo ODST * I took as a measure to rate mainly impact and influence cause imo are the only two true important factors to determine the greatness of a game.
There can never be another real Halo game, for one reason and one reason alone: Johnson is dead. Can't have Halo without Johnson. Its like having a blank piece of paper and calling it art.
+Patrick Star the only thing that makes it seem different is the classes in multiplayer. It still feels like Halo. Also, you can still love Halo 4 even if it doesn't feel like the other Halos. The name of the game shouldn't affect it in any way.
"Every Last Cent?" No. 343 did not put every last cent in Halo 4. The Campaign is good, not as good as Halo 2's or 3's. No theatre in Campaign, No Elites in multiplayer and finally, awful forge. Campaign and Spartan Ops are the only decent things playing in Halo 4. The MP has been ruined. But I have hope that 343 will make the next one better, The Arbiter and Brutes have a high chance of returning, which is very good.
LuckySkillz159 halo 4 or halo 2 is good. halo 2 is good but it's not the best. i always wanted to know people didn't like the arbiter levels and it's cause they have the worst design of any halo level. also if i didn't play 3 before 2 that ending would have pissed me off so much.
Amazing Game?? Yup Best Halo ever?? not by a long shot. The Best is 2, reach, 3, 1, ODST, Wars, 4 oh wait.Nvm, all the Halos are freaking awsome, and they're all the best halo game, Bungie did an amazing work, and so did 343, and Halo is quite possibly the best Fps Franchise in the Xbox and maybe in all of the Existance. Hail Halo (Sorry for meh bad english m8's)
I understand why people dislike this game as opposed to the Bungie Halo's, but I will STILL defend it to this day. THEY FIXED THE GAME.......MOSTLY. Okay, so the multiplayer had balancing issues, but through gradual updating the matchmaking is now a multiplayer experience on-par with Halo 3 (Reach's multiplayer was plagued with poor map design and other balancing issues that were never fixed). The maps are INCREDIBLY memorable, the playlists are constantly changing so every time you boot up the game there's something new to play, and the community is making a solid comeback since the release of the GOTY Edition, which I highly recommend for those who've yet to play Halo 4. The ONLY things that remain underwhelming are Spartan Ops (which is a value add regardless of its quality, its essentially an entirely new campaign), and Forge. As a compulsive forger I feel like 343 needs to reinvent the wheel in Halo 5 when it comes to Forge, because in Halo 4 it's just not as worth the effort as it was in Reach, where the Forging experience was what kept me playing that game waaaayyyyy up until Halo 4's release. In the end, Halo 4 isn't perfect, but for what problems it had in the beginning 343 has done its job to improve the game for those who are willing to give the game a second chance. Also shame on you guys for saying Halo 4 was a trashy game, I get that preferences are a subjective thing but if you REALLY think Halo 4 was complete garbage you're either just trolling or seriously jaded.
IL1KE2COMM3NT I completely agree. Of course halo 1-3 were better, but that is due to the fact that the style of game was fresh and new. I like the direction 343 was going with halo 4, but it is their first game and i honestly think they executed it quite nicely. They were having to live up to a HUGE developer's name and did their job. I have been a halo fan since the beginning and own every halo game to date and i REALLY enjoyed halo 4. Especially after they fixed the balance issues, the game is a great one. Every one that says," eww dis es not haelo 3 and haelo rech is betur." are just people that play a title for nostalgic purposes only.
What happened to this game? On paper, it's ten times better then any Halo before it, yet when you're playing it, at least the multiplayer, it doesn't have that same magic that Halo 3 or even Reach had. I still can't figure out why. It's also a shame that hardly any people are online in this game anymore. I can only hope Halo 5 brings back that classic Halo feeling.
Completely agree, there is more people playing on halo reach multiplayer than halo 4's. I personally think it was too easy to kill people and there were no massive vehicle battles as there isnt any open space even on the biggest maps.
well to say it took all the skill and competetiveness out from the game. Every thing that they added into the game just lessened the skillgap and made the game noob friendlier. didn't help that this game had 4 4v4 maps out of the box and a lack in gamemodes.
The thing about Spartan Ops is that you get SO much xp for playing missions, so that's one of the things that draws people back to playing it Normal Wargame Match (e.g. Slayer) - 2000 xp Spartan Ops - 6000 - 7000 xp
>halo reach comes out

Halo 4 was a great game. Just not a good Halo game. :(
Halo 4 is my favorite halo game
I agree, but did you hear the bad news? Marty left Bungie. I'm scared to hear Destiny, even though it already sounds pretty great, but.....god dammit.

Excellent game, unsupportive community, pushing the limit for Xbox 360 Graphical Hardware.
Unsupportive community fucking spot on right there. All these Halo cunts think they know more about making games then the actual developers.
ju5tinpyne ikr, these guys are like 343 you suck, halo 4 is crap yadda yadda yadda.

This it's what I like to hear. I don't understand why halo 4 got so much hate. Plus it had ear-gasmic music.
Well the mature Halo community has been replaced with 12-16year old kids.
Anakin Linex The multiplayer. Need I elaborate?
Halo 4 got so much hate because certain people dont like change. Bungie to 343. And certain people dont want halo to do well because they like cod. Or a ps fan. Or they just don't like the genre
allrounder247 Change is good. Perks, care packages and weapon unlocks are bad. See what I'm getting at?
MrSirjohny I’m so hyped but I switched to ps4 so I can’t play it :(
@@liamarthofer267 ye man halo is the one thing I miss about xbox owning a PS4. I don't regret getting a PS4 though, xbone has been such a disappointment when it comes to singleplayer exclusives.

Halo 3 is miles better than halo 4
good game? yes, best halo ever? no
they took out firefight tho :(
in my opinion this is the best halo game.
Yeah I agree. It's a good game but there has been better.
halo 4 is a great game but reach was 10 times better
The story was great, it's just that the multiplayer was nothing like Halo 3 or Halo reach
Yep. Honestly there was few flaws with the campaign except some explainable design changes in the Dawn.
Reach was just as bad for multiplayer. Halo 2 and Halo 3 are the definitive multiplayer that everyone remembers and loves for its skilled ranking and high skill gap gameplay
Dragongod41 Reach was fine after they released no-bloom gametypes but, god, I hated the game before that.
Yea it didn't have lasting appeal.

I agree wholeheartedly
Reach and Halo 2 are the best
they were running in the old halo games, sprint just doesn't allow the soldiers to run and shoot at the same time. Doesn't that make sense?
Well Halo fanbase is in a Civil war when talking about art styles or Games of Bungie vs 343i
It's amazing how so many people said this game sucks all because it wasn't exactly like Halo 3.
*****
In my opinion, it's still Halo but it's just been modified to make it more accessible.
*****
You sir, bring an excellent point.
Thank you, I do try.
Call Of Duty changes:9 and 10s across the board
Halo changes: KILL IT KILL IT KILLIT
That's cuz cod fish sucks.
***** I like cod fish.
SUGAR NIPZ the majority of the fanbase likes it though.
Campaign was fucking awesome. Multiplayer is just a big fucking social playlist with no competitive gameplay.
Great game for campaign, nuff said.
Halo 4 has no ranked playlists, which means people never try anymore.
Exactly.
I thought halo 4 was great until I realize how crippled the campaign was and that you couldn't do shit without Gold Live.
Otherwise, this game only deserves a 5.5 out of 10.
The campaign I didn't enjoy. Multiplayer I hated. A waste of money.
The main problems with Halo 4 have been fixed though updates. 343 added new game types, including a classic slayer that plays exactly like halo 3. The only main problems with it now are the lack of players and the fact that there are still only 130 levels
exactly how many players do play it?
M0rshu64 few thousand
The average number of players on halo 4 is maybe 4000 at any time
King NintenBro Check the charts its 15-20k average.
It wasn't before Christmas
A lot of you people don't seem to understand the difference between a good game and nostalgia. 343 did a million times better with the story telling.
The story is good but aside from that...... well nothing really.
I do play ODST for Firefight though, to me Reach destroyed it.
perfectly said man. nostalgia always makes games seem better
you may have just seen my comment about haters and how its all just a huge cycle, but ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME? BUNGIE MADE THE MASTER CHIEF WHAT HE WAS. A SOLDIER. 343 MADE HIM INTO A ROMEO.
Cod is dying, BF is now boring, and halo is coming back at number one

Honestly, not trying to defend the game, but Halo 4 is a really solid title. It's solid on all accounts. The shooting is just plain addicting. It's fast paced and thrilling, and the story is deep. The multiplayer, too, is really fun and addicting.
The shooting is fun until you quickly run out of ammo.
It's because they lowered the skill gap and the multiplayer is copying
Call of Duty.
PigmanCast
you make it sound like call of duty doesn't do the same thing. its the most common thing in the gaming industry, in anything actually. if something works, use it.

Halo Combat Evolved or Halo 2 are by far the best.
For me 343 did an absolutely amazing job, Halo 4 looks amazing, sound system is refined, the story is brilliant and pretty easy to follow; a much darker stroy-line now which is way better. (the original halo story-line was good but got boring where master chief saved the world without breaking a sweat, but here he is struggling)
Well done 343
Halo 4 is garbage

@@Prehistoeifand yes 343 is a pile of garbage that should’ve been thrown out after a year of Infinite.
_to people who use the 343's first game excuse_
retro studio's first game was a phenomenal success with metroid prime which has lower gen technology and had to reinvent a 2d sidescroller into 3d, where as this game is a sequel with many games for 343 to work off of and a 7th gen game, using the "their first game" to defend the flaws is invalid because their first time doesn't mean they suck at making games
The hype for this game coming out felt both nostalgic and amazing. I love this game
I think what people hated about this game was that they introduced a new enemy, which made people angry that they changed to much.
Nah it's that multiplayer was so unbalanced and filled with assault rifles jet pack promethean vision sticky grenades shielding and explosives bolshots and active camo
That was definitely not the problem at all.
then what was the problem? it certainly wasn't that there was a new enemy in the campaign

I'm thanking them for even wanting to keep the series going, giving John a personality, I'm not dumb for thanking them. Personally, you seem more like a Bungie fan, then Halo :/

Finally someone who thinks bungie didn't make halo as good as it is now, odst and reach were fails in my opinion

Deceived Heretic
Well, many still feel alienated from the drastic changes to the series multiplayer. I really would like that they bring it back to the original formula but make changes everyone would like and not go crazy about it.
***** Not to mention 343 took out one of the best new game types: Dominion.
Yup, that blank check definitely shows up in this review

I swear to god the Halo fanbase is worse than the COD fanbase these days.
*****
Not really if you think about it we knew about the perks, loadouts, and ordinance long before the game came out, yet all that we said was 'wooo yaaa Halo 4' which basically sent a message to 343 that we didn't mind those things.
EPiiCx5587 Lol. The community just exploded Bungie's devs when Reach introduced perks... And it's the first thing 343i put into Halo 4.
EPiiCx5587
I agree with everything you said.
Lane Alder " We liked the perks, loadouts, and ordinances when we played it"
If you really mind that, then I don't see how you can say you're a "hardcore" fan.
NoblAesthesia
I didn't say I actually liked the perks, loadouts, and ordances but people didn't mind it at first since they knew that was all coming since they told everyone they were doing it but people were still excited.
MASTER CHIEF IS BACK, BABY!
This games makes me think about the game for weeks and months.. i cant get the visuals and cutscenes out of my head, everything looks so beautiful.. its like a dream.. when i was at the 4 runners stage, i thought i was dreaming..
A 9.8? Really guys? I think this deserves no more than say a 7.8, it's not bad but I find it to be the most unsatisfying Halo yet.
+john tyler How 'bout 5.8?
David Lueke I do think I was being a bit generous.
+john tyler A bit? Ratios ind of say your being ironic. Hopefully no offense taken there, because I do know people will get offended for stupid things.
Opinions.
hey at least it had sprint the past halos before reach pissed me off like classic cod
Bungie fanboy. You have know idea what halo 5 I's like to you. A copy an paste of halo2 would kill the series
MYTHICALTWINKIE Bro, Halo is irrelevant now. The series has been on life support for years.
MYTHICALTWINKIE Bungie fanboy?? Why am I a bungie fanboy? Because Halo 2 was my favorite? Ok...
343 dropped the ball on Halo 4. Everyone knows it. Did I enjoy it? Yes. Was it awesome? No. Does Halo 5 look good? Yes.
Way to sound like a child by calling me a fanboy.
Harrison DuRant well sorry about that i misread your comment, i apologize and i will enjoy halo5 like you and so many others.
neil morton thats like if I said mario kart was irrelevant, lol mario kart started in the 90s and its still awesome, sounds more like destiny fanboy to me, outta style...bro

I dunno why people hate on 343 , and halo 4 that much .
+Ryan Freeman Because they are morons.
They really messed up not allowing this game to be mlg, that pushed a huge part of the fanbase to call of duty
Call of duty? LMAO
Bebe Apple Um...no, Halo 4 lol?
2MACH LORDZ um....no, call of duty lol?
?
nicholas mugambi TF2 is by far the winner here :P
Im just here to show the developers of halo4 love. This is the best halo, its so cool n stylish. So fun to play. The best halo of the series. Thank You!
thaiden03 it's the second best i think, 2 is better
Arthur Morgan agreed
Multiplayer is garbage. I hate how there is now the create a class loadout shit.
I played the masterchief collection from start to finish. This game does not touch Halo 2 and 3. It's a 7.5.
Halo 4 was pretty good in my opinion, though it is not the best Halo game it is still pretty fun.
"what if halo 4... is the best halo ever..?"
NO NO NO, 343 TOTALLY RUINED IT, IT'S CRAP, THEY MUST BE SHUNNED!!
kidding, i have halo 4 myself, it's a fun game, i believe
that 343 succeeded with this because all throughout the other games, 343 was there, helping bungie, they know what halo needed, and they delivered.
(granted, there were a COUPLE things that were dissapointing, but in the end
it was a good game, i just hope we can play as elites again soon)
***** yeah, halo reach is fun too, lots of time on it, though i'm annoyed that my service record prettymuch resets after every update... i was a Lt. Colonel with a metal arm :c
***** does that mean you hate halo 4? >_>
They only held back because almost all the other Halo's were masterpieces. Plus everyone holds on to that nostalgia from other Halo's.
We all know combat evolved is and will be the best halo.
Wataaa! for a first game of a series it's awesome. but i think Reach is the best, as it's pre-CE. and there's lot's of stuff that you can do.
+iHaveMyEyeOnYou Sad the gameplay feels too outdated
+David Lueke i think reach is the best to
Wataaa! halo 2 then halo combat evolved
1. Halo 3

3. Halo 2/Halo 4
4. Halo 3: ODST
5. Halo: Combat Evolved
Halo 4 was great, but they just ripped too much content, no more brutes, scarabs, spikers, choppers, falcons, hornets, and the soundtrack was badly used, and the campaingh could have 10 levels instead of 8

+Eddie Vasquez trust me, your opinion will alter quickly.
+Eddie Vasquez I got it for $5 as well 2 months ago. It is not a bad game but I can see how things have changed a lot though.
+BFKAnthony817 dude, I used to love H4, but over the months it became boring and not only lost my interest, but also my respect.
Halo 4 is way better than the overrated destiny
Destiny was over rated but I the hype died down. Halo is what a still prefer
Alex Ilyayev yeah
Halo will always be better than Destiny
Both game have solid gameplay so we shouldnt compare them, (atleast theyre better than cod bullshit)

I JUST CAN'T WAIT FOR HALO XBOX ONE! SOME GOD PLEASE HIT THE FAST FORWARD BUTTON, NOW!!!
Bebe Apple Yeah, Sony who's market value is worth 18 billion and is currently selling off it's main assets and going through a corporate spin-off...just to cover themselves:
www.bloomberg.com/news/2013-11-01/sony-loses-2-2-billion-in-market-value-after-hirai-forecast-cut.html
Microsoft's market value is 250+ billion dollars, that's no company assets or revenue included. Plain ol' shares being used to build the company...better than credit! LOL!! If anything that's what you call confidence in a company.
While Sony paid a meager 200mil just to purchse Gaikai for the "cloud 'streaming' service", lol! Microsoft spent billions in 2009 for R&D alone for Azure and it's Datacenters and recently spent 250 million in finland for more Datacenters:
twthereddragon.blogspot.com/2013/06/xbox-one-games-on-dedicated-servers.html
www.datacenterknowledge.com/archives/2013/09/03/microsoft-to-build-250-million-data-center-in-finland/
So if anything, that is what you call GROWTH. So just because you heard from some investors or major investors trying to start a "bearish" movement to become near billionaires faster than later, doesn't hold NOTHING to what Microsoft see's in the Xbox One with it's HUGE revenue streams...ALL aside from console sells. WOWZA!
seekingalpha.com/article/1892021-read-this-slowly-microsofts-non-profitable-xbox-one-is-a-bullish-sign
So get your facts straight before you start calling people stupid...stupid!
EDIT:
Beside, this is the first time both compnay release at the same time.
Bebe Apple"Halo was over since Microsoft bought it." So according to that "logic" the first Halo was bad seeing as Microsoft owns the IP.
Hey-hey-hey the master chief collection is coming so it should soothe you for a little more time
4EverDubin You do good researches :)
Kenny Lay Wow, that was an old post. But seems like everything is falling in line.
Last time their market value was 18 billion, it has slumped significantly now at 2 billion. But no one will consider that. It's the long haul, and Sony will try it's best to stay on edge with Microsoft, so far they have indeed won the minds of hardcore gamers, still the 90%(casuals) to go.
www.otcmarkets.com/stock/SNE/profile
Hell even Nintendo has more shareholder confidence than Sony with 14 billion. The real competition begins next year.
Wait since when was halo 4 better than reach? Wtf is this bs......
Just try not to listen to people that say which are the best. Ppl are so effin split XD
+Daxter Reach was terrible. It completely butchered the canon, story was ahit and made absolutely no sense, unbalanced mutiplayer, loadouts, bloom, and MANY other things. Halo 4 was pretty much a copy and paste from this except with an actual decent story.

343 is more worried about making a beautiful looking game rather then a beautiful story which bungie did amazingly
No they didn't. After Halo 1 the Bungie Halos kind of lost its touch. Halo 4 revived it but too bad 5 killed it.

I can't f***ing wait until halo 5 especially they are working hard on it for almost 2 years!
2 years isn't enough time at all.
Joe Caggiano Almost 3 years, EARLY development began in late 2011
Joe Caggiano While I hate when companies do annual releases, AC4 was released in just one year and it was about 50x better than AC3, so 2 years may be enough time for Halo.
***** But seeing as how it's 343 I doubt it...

I liked the Halo 4 story best and the multiplayer was probably the best, in my opinion too....but I still enjoyed Halo 3 and Halo: Reach more.
Can one of u guys verfy for me that halo 4 is not couch co op in the campaign mode??
Dude I loved halo 4. I still do. 343 tried something new and they were able to continue halo.
"Do you remember the very firtst time...." - shows Halo Anniversary Remaster footage XD
Am I the only person on earth who agrees with everything in this review
Decker Lord of all Dark Hunters yep. And I have all the halo games except 5
Yes
No I do aswell
So yeah, this game doesn't deserve more than a 8.5
Thank You! I liked the campaign also, not as much as Reach's, but it was good. Multiplayer just made me sad. And screw Spartan Ops.
In Halo 4 you don't get better guns and abilities as you level up past maybe level 20, and the guns don't really vary in greatness, just the players' preferences and how they play
Better graphics than ANY PS3 game! Xbox 360 was a powerhouse during its generation! Halo 4 still looks great!
The Last Of US😎
Best game of the last generation, it's fabulous.
Worst IGN review ever.
how?
Nah. People give to much hate on a great game.
+Tyler Herndon He's right
+PyroMachinima Halo 3 is my fav ever, but Halo 4 was extremely fun.
Gotta admit it, the game looks great...
Graphics wise? From a technology perspective I'd say Halo 4 shows the Xbox 360 used to perfection, peaked, and mastered.
Really think so? How exactly? Halo 4 wins on image quality and where does Halo Reach win?
*****
Well, whether we are talking about campaign, multiplayer, graphics or music we'd have to establish.
but the game is a joke compared to halo reach and halo 3

Halo 4 was more personal than the other Halo games. Done.
Agreed!
I still don't understand why so many people say Halo 4 is bad
Ben C some people will do whatever they need to to go against the flow
Ben C because it's a call of duty clone.
You mean, Call of Duty copied HALO :/
Wouldn't say a CoD clone aha. It's because the multiplayer lacked, custom that is. Story was good, some of the best voice acting and story writing Halo has seen. It may not be the best Halo game, but it was a good one, far better than 5.
Slenderspartan 1.sprinting unnecessary 2.graphics and audio took a crap 3.no firefight ? 4.reach had a better multiplayer set up 5.Better customization and points system 6.story switched environments so it didn't get boring 7.made by a company that cared about the community
Everyone that's hating is basically saying "MAKE THE SAME GAME OVER AND OVER AGAIN"
everyone that hates this game is a call of shit fan
My Rating: 8.6

• Took out many fan favorite weapons and game modes (-)
• Although good, the music doesnt compare to Marty O'Donnels Music for past Halo titles (-)
RZI Productions I like your review of this game I think ign overated this game but your review is spot on
Am I the only one who still gets goosebumps in the intro part of the video after 5 years
One of the most memorable intro of the game reviews.
i loved this game, its just it doesn't support the community as the other games do, and the campaign was the most linear of the series, cant wait to see what 343 can do with halo 5 though :)
The fact that they changed the ENTIRE formula makes me hate this game.
Like, how exactly was the entire formula changed?
+John Moon you must be new here. bc cod is halo (first one) 2.0 cod took that. and when halo tried to take it back people accused halo of stealing cods multiplayer.
halo 4 is kinda a mixed opinion some people hate it and some people love it. who agrees?
Definantly the most emotional and visually impressive halo. halo 5 is no doubt a system seller
This is Halo 4
Halo 4 should had got a 10.
That's insane for IGN
lets play GTA 4
Tyler Herndon The Last of Us got a 10??? That doesn't seem.fair right? I played the game and it seemed more like a movie than a game.
+Nightcaster460 it's actually considered one of the best games of all time and has the most game of the year awards ever.
Tyler Herndon The awards i'm guessing are for the story rather than the.gameplay. The gameplay is fun, but the game feels like a movie...
The campaign is jaw dropping and the multiplayer is real fun. A great game as a whole
Multiplayer not really
After some time reflecting:
1. Halo 2
2. Halo 3
3. Halo reach
4. Halo 4
5. Halo CE
6. Halo ODST
* I took as a measure to rate mainly impact and influence cause imo are the only two true important factors to determine the greatness of a game.
Halo CE below Halo 4? you must be one of those lizard people then.

There can never be another real Halo game, for one reason and one reason alone:
Johnson is dead. Can't have Halo without Johnson.
Its like having a blank piece of paper and calling it art.
Shut up
True, true
@@bossman9098 calm down, bur
reach was 10 times better than this how'd it get 9.8 😶
reach and 2 were the best
+ThatNoGoodYoutubCommenting SonOfABitch Agreed
***** Nah halo 4s campaign was boring as hell tbh
Gameplay yes but not the story. Best story in the franchise yet. Too bad Halo 5 dumped all over it.
Rekasha halo 3 rules best story bud
Unfortunately 343 will never be better than Bungie. Halo 4 was ok, but nothing compared to Halo 3 and Reach.
My thoughts exactly, everyone says how amazing halo 4 was but I dont think it was anything special. Halo reach and 3 were EPIC. 4 is overated
I personally found reach a disappointing boring game, but obviously 3 is better than 4
Jhon Bucket
How is 4 overated considering how much hate it gets.
WHAT!?
This is my fav halo game
Whoever made this review was either high or had never played any previous halo game.
He's a huge Halo fan.
+Tyler Herndon i really loved this game when it came out but then i started realizing that it was way too different from the rest of the halos
+Patrick Star the only thing that makes it seem different is the classes in multiplayer. It still feels like Halo. Also, you can still love Halo 4 even if it doesn't feel like the other Halos. The name of the game shouldn't affect it in any way.
Everything described here is spot on! You helped me out explaining everything for me as accurate as you could. Props to you man
Halo has the best story line any game can ever have.
Gears of War 3, Bulletstorm and Half-Life 2 are also great when it comes to story, I think.
Keep lying to yourself bra
oxXBLADEZXxo No. they all have incredible stories including Halo.
BackStageCrafter Incredible story? Of Course, not going to deny that. Best story? Hell NO!
Agreed.
But I have hope that 343 will make the next one better, The Arbiter and Brutes have a high chance of returning, which is very good.
go replay halo 2's campaign it's not the best.
halo 2 had a really good story, and so did halo 4... its one of my favorite and I collect all halo media, so take it from a real fan... its good...
Killzone 8 cod ghosts 8 battlefield 8 halo 9.8 don't underestimate halo especially don't underestimate master cheif
Hail Halo
(Sorry for meh bad english m8's)
To me, ur English is good, and u are correct.
LastLoneWolf FTW u are so correct dude
Yeah, it was fun, but its dead now.
Rambo2951 lol That's just not true.
IL1KE2COMM3NT
I completely agree.
1.Halo 3
2.Halo Combat Evolved
3.Halo 2
4.Halo Reach
5.Halo 3 ODST
6.Halo 4
7.Halo 5 Guardians
What happened to this game? On paper, it's ten times better then any Halo before it, yet when you're playing it, at least the multiplayer, it doesn't have that same magic that Halo 3 or even Reach had. I still can't figure out why. It's also a shame that hardly any people are online in this game anymore. I can only hope Halo 5 brings back that classic Halo feeling.
Completely agree, there is more people playing on halo reach multiplayer than halo 4's. I personally think it was too easy to kill people and there were no massive vehicle battles as there isnt any open space even on the biggest maps.
I think you're on to something. I have a suspicion that 343 was leaning a little bit towards the 'Call Of Duty' side of things.
well to say it took all the skill and competetiveness out from the game. Every thing that they added into the game just lessened the skillgap and made the game noob friendlier. didn't help that this game had 4 4v4 maps out of the box and a lack in gamemodes.
*****
and what happened to the series after these "innovations".. it is DEAD
Really, I liked the campaign the most.
Halo 4 was good, I hope Halo 5 is great.
Well I can assure you that the mp is great, I just hope the campaign is halo 4 quality.
Who didn't love halo 4
no one likes it its gay
The thing about Spartan Ops is that you get SO much xp for playing missions, so that's one of the things that draws people back to playing it
Normal Wargame Match (e.g. Slayer) - 2000 xp
Spartan Ops - 6000 - 7000 xp
