@@alexlyster3459 i mean there was nothing stopping 343 from doing the e3 stuff like digsite themselves at any point, they still can, without relying on volunteers.
I was always more excited about Digsite than the potential for Infinite Campaign DLC. It is just such a shame that Halo has a dedicated community, loads of lore, and only one studio working on games. This feels like watching a relative slowly dying of Alzheimer’s. You know who he is and you still love him, but you have no hope of him ever returning to what he was.
The 4chan individual who finally leaked the repo seemed to not only hate HS but they also hated Digsite, for example the manifesto included with the leak (which is a parody of the Original Deus Ex Intro) uses the term: "Digslop" to refer to digsite once. The leak was also posted with the sentence: "Your short term fun has long-term consequences". The repo leak also does not include anything from halo 4, halo 5, and halo wars 2, it only includes a handful of stuff from Infinite and wars 1 which was being tested in halo 3. Digsite was planned to continue after Alpha moon, at a smaller scale, only doing tag and data releases. There were still alot of people working on digsite both from the modding community and the HS side. Aswell as this, there were also talks behind closed doors between halo community members about making getting new blood into digsite or at the very least, continue making projects on the scale of alpha moon in order to show to Microsoft. (The plan was to show community mcc projects such as alpha moon and halo reborn to the "leadership" in order to get more resources on MCC. Theoretically we could've gotten Modded CGB and other things for MCC.
Also the leaked repo is 6 months old. This, along with the fact that some stuff leaked was not accessible or known about by any of the volunteers does lead credence to the theory that nobody who was actually within the volunteer group or HS leaked the repo. A russian hacker group is reported to have hacked microsoft 6 months ago. It could've been acquired from there and been in some very obscure corner of the darkweb till a very particular individual from 4chan obtained it and leaked it.
If this was the case, specifically leaking only the digsite repo and attempting to incriminate other prominent members of the halo community indicates this leaker was doing this out of malice. We were better off not having this fucking leak occur. The amount of rampant conspiracy and hatred thrown towards everyone is a testament to that..
there's also evidence the repo was originally leaked from a 6 month old hack on Microsoft by a russian hacking team. and since the leaker is from 4chan and seemingly has a disdain for digsite and HS. it makes some sense.
Higher ups continually screwing over the people that are actually creating with true talent and are passionate about what they do... It makes me sick... It's just like spotify...

Can you not be a culture warrior for two seconds? 343i has been a shit show since before "DEI" became the flavor of the week to distract idiots from real problems. It has nothing to do with DEI and everything to do with incompetent leadership and corporate greed.
It's wild to think that a group of dedicated fans who wanted to preserve and celebrate Halo’s legacy ended up feeling so undervalued by Microsoft/ Halo Studios that they resorted to breaking an NDA.
And we're gonna see some people probably get sued into the fucking ground over it, I'd bet. Microsoft is petty as hell, and no way they're gonna take this lightly.
This is a good thing, the non disclosure agreement for fans doing a personal project was terrible. The content is all over 20 years old, essentially 343 was abusing the passion of talented fans to put out small amounts of 20 year old content to drip feed to a dying community to tide them over till whatever next garbage product they launch. They hate classic fans anyway and were never going to do anything with MCC. It's just more evidence of 343 / Halo studios / Microsoft being horrible people and leaders.
who would've leaked this? What's the motive? The whole digsite team seems like it was doomed from the start. All of this for mods. What a shame from top to bottom.
The halo modding community was abandoned for a decade. This leak had to happen. Halo 3 was reverse engineered to run on pc before it was given a real release.
this is a direct result of Microsoft and HS leadership not supporting thier community, while simultaneously relying on them for most of the goodwill built in the last 12 months, make it make sense
Digsite should have been given studio resources, support, and monetary compensation for all the work they’ve done. They should have been given MCC since 343/Microsoft was done with it. Who knows what will happen now.
Well looking at the very end of the video all fingers point towards Halo Studios being the issue then Microsoft. I mean I wanna blame Microsoft but the signs are not looking good and we might have a worse 343i.
No, they shouldn’t. They’re literally volunteering to do this. If they don’t want to do this, they don’t have to do this. If I were really hard on developing something or creating a map and then halo Studios or 343 wanted to use it I’d be ecstatic. They can say no and not let people use their work without pay. If they volunteer their work, you don’t get to now hold a studio hostage and force them to pay for something or there was an agreement between both parties that they did not have to pay. They don’t have to consent allowing halo Studios to use this stuff for free. If they do, it’s on them. If halo Studios doesn’t deem it worth it to hire people to do this then they don’t have to. You don’t get to tell people what to do with their money that’s called stealing. It would be nice if Halo studio says we appreciate what you do and want to give you something as a reward and they gave them some money. That would be great. That would make me happy. I’d be happy for the people making something and then getting a reward for it because they did such a good job.
@@jessejive1174 You are not getting the full story here. Digsite members repeatedly clarified their positions. They are not playing victim. But 343 placed expectations on a fan group, expecting them to basically do a full time job (which is similar what they did for past few months) without providing any help or resources. They just asked if they can get compensated which 343 refuted. They left. The way 343 interacts with the community IS the problem.
The fact that Halo studios has now just thrown away talented and passionate people who know what us Halo fans want should be a crime. Community made stuff is what has helped keep Halo as beloved and relevant for all of these years. The studio has no clue what we as Halo fans actually want, nor do they care.
I love how confident dig site team is on saying what they said. Because they know the fans are what really has been keeping halo alive all these years. Not 343.
Uh yeah, that "charged sentence" is definitely not just frustration. 343 and Microsoft DO NOT CARE about Halo or the community, which has been proven time and time again.
Thats probably what they meant by disagreeing with the way they look at the community. They don't care. They want to replace us with the same people that eat up cod slop every year. Thats the new corpo way. replace the old audiences with yes men. Like the elites being replaced by brutes!
Why does this feel like the nail in the coffin? At this point it's like "to hell with these companies" the community needs to rally together and take charge of halo. It's just so confusing, like "oh you want my money?" Then do right by me and give me the things I want. Both Microsoft and 343 seem totally disinterested in doing that but want our money nonetheless.
Halo studios, that’s a very 343 move. Just hand Halo over to a team that cares, not for money. The halo community deserves better, it’s full of great and loyal players. I don’t know how it’s possible to treat a community as such.
@chrismoule7242 All it takes is a few shills to keep the ship afloat. Thats why Halo Infinite is still getting shop updates. Classic Halo players arent engaging with that shop and yet that game still has a heartbeat.
So what I'm gathering is that 343 still hasn't grown the brain to compensate dedicated artists and people for their sudio level work The forgers for carrying halo multi-player maps and custom content and now the dig site team being milked for every last drop I hope who ever leaked this golden treasure doesn't get reprimanded And I hope 343 takes it as a message to actually float money where it matters
Halo studios comparing the strict limits of Forge to the limitless possibilities and freedom of modding and digsite work is just ridiculous. it's not even close. Clearly, they just don't get it.
Honestly i find it a disgrace that 343/halo studios pays "partners" millions but the digsite team nothing! Microsoft needs to step in and offer the digsite team a fully payed position aswel as the right and power to lead development on the halo remakes. Because the digsite actually háve halo in mind, something halo studio's clearly do not!
This has to be some conspiracy against halo, theres just no way that there are continuing disasters surrounding anything positive for the halo games. This was done with intent like many of halos continuing attacks by people who just dont like it for various personal reasons
These games are nearing or are 20+ years old. Microsoft really should just let it go. It's history preserved and brought to life, nothing more, nothing less. Leave them alone.
Using Halo script it's possible to make Spartans emote with the d-pad in at least the campaign for Reach. I'd like to add this in the campaign mode but honestly, there's already better campaign mods in the workshop.
To the company execs Why do you not care for long life spans of your games? Your community? Really. I need to know. You have seen what has happened to all these live service games and their track records for being shut down. Audiences matter. You are failing. You had to rebrand. Take people from the community. ASK them how you can improve. Tke people from your company ASK them how you can improve. You cannot heal if you keep running on broken legs.
Told everyone; halo studios aren't any different. 343 industries is Skum. Any halo content Creators who talk about this and don't say "Halo studios get your crap together" and keeps supporting their garbage; are a bunch of cowards. Do not buy a single micro transaction. Delete halo infinite off your stuff. Force halo studios and Microsoft to give to the fans. Now is our time. Don't let this opportunity slip.
The rebrand was the thing Halo needed to turn a new leaf. And while HS and 343i are still NOT the same studio, this is a terrible look for them and I have no idea why or how they fumbled this hard when the right thing to do was so blatantly obvious.
@ In the video Rebs Gaming says Digsite members were referring to HS employees. Where was it said that this is entirely on Microsoft? I’d like to believe that, but I didn’t see it.
You are correct. Marathon was supposed to be way more intertwined into Halo’s story. Hence the “Marathon Man” achievement in Halo 3 for finding the secret terminal. That itself is a reference to marathon because each level in marathon had terminals to interact with to give story and lore
@Player3. That's awesome, I always thought that Halo and Marathon had a much closer connection to eachother other than just the symbol dotted around on things like 343 Guilty Sparks eye and on structures, etc.
it makes me sick to my stomach and close to tears how something as pivotal and influential to its community like halo could ever have gotten to this point. it is disgusting and frankly insulting how microsoft treats this communitys passion and dedication. a community of people putting in a level of effort where once fruitful careers in the industry wouldve been rewarded instead being treated as inconsequential. its sickening. some of the only positive things anyones saying about halo right now are said about community made content. particularly the work done on the halo 2 e3 demo by the members of the digsite team. and to hear that these people. these pillars of this community are unable to afford rent or food after putting out some of the biggest things released under halos name this year fucking breaks my heart. this community is what makes halo what it is. a new name change and fancy unreal graphics are ever gonna change the fact that 343/halo studios and microsoft dont care about this community. im willing to bet this rumored ce remake was put forward because of if not directly influenced by the work on and the community reaction to the work done by the digsite team. i continue to be disappointed by the utter failure on behalf of microsofts leadership. this level of corporate greed and stubbornness will be the death of everything weve ever loved.
Halo studios gonna get real flop coincidentally with people talking about how Stuttering Engine 5 is notorious for being very unoptimized and (lazy) devs force people to buy upcoming nvidia gpus just to play unoptimized AAA flops. Well im done with halo remake
something about not considering the digsite team or forger made features "real work" when they profit off it and actively push for so much cosmetic purchasing at microsoft across all their studios is definitely scummy
This is one of the reasons I stopped playing Halo Infinite. Halo changed my life and I'm not about to support a company that doesn't respect the IP and community.
The blame for the Digsite team not getting paid is squarely on Microsoft, they themselves have said so. Immediately pinning the blame on Halo Studios just lets Microsoft get away with it and do it again.
Yeah, but most of these so-called halo fans just want Halo Studios to fail and they don’t support or rejoice when they do something great and when anything bad happens, they just blame Halo Studios. It’s pretty clear from what I read in most common sections that that is the case, people don’t want halo Studios and they didn’t want 343 to succeeded after a certain point. They’re just dumb.
The problem is they knew it was volunteered work. They didn’t have to be payed. However, they shouldn’t have been given deadlines. The volunteers shouldn’t have had to crunch to get stuff out. That’s insane.
Why would anyone chose to work on something for free while not having a dayjob? As much as I can sympathise with MS/HS being dogshit, the people working on free mod projects while starving are equally fucked in the head.
Community is pretty much the only source of content output 343/Halo Studios has at the moment, so it's ominous that they're already at odds since the rebrand. Most of their Infinite maps have been Forge made for the last few years. MCC has no updates (critical fixes or even just rotating the Exchange more often) and relies on solely community mods. It's a no brainer to take care of the creative community but I guess we're in a no-brain situation
Some of these, inc the animals you could mount was in fact on the Halo 2 bonus DVD in their "cut content" videos about H1. Tho they only covered a fraction of what we know now
I can't believe the Dig site team wanted paid positions! Wasn't working for free rewarding enough for them? Besides, Microsoft is a small startup company without much money...
How companies continuously drop the ball on things like this is beyond me...everytime I think Halo is taking a step forward it is really taking 10 steps back, and shooting itself in the feet as it does it. SMH. This team is a bunch of legends and we are grateful for all they did and sacrificed, even if the powers that be spit in their face.
the disrespect to the halo community that 343 has is honestly insane. and it seems they will wear that for the rest of their existence. I might just be moving on from halo .

@@JohnDoe-id5ih I guess they are on emergency money saving mode.
I’m more excited about pre-343 Halo leaks than I am about anything 343 has done in 10 years. That’s damning
I literally dreamed of this content being available and it became a reality. This is unreal.
It's sad it's under such terrible conditions.
Yeah this screams “higher up who wanted digsite gone due to being too much of a thorn in their side”
@@anusername8350 No it screams "343 employee who wants modding gone because it makes their games look worse."
there's also evidence the repo was originally leaked from a 6 month old hack on Microsoft by a russian hacking team. and since the leaker is from 4chan and seemingly has a disdain for digsite and HS. it makes some sense.
Higher ups continually screwing over the people that are actually creating with true talent and are passionate about what they do... It makes me sick... It's just like spotify...
