    One thing I forgot to mention during the Hypercrypt Legion: The reason I am including the Canoptek Wraiths in the Hypercrypt list building and leaving them out for the Canoptek (despite being better in Canoptek Court) is because the Canoptek court has more units in it already that can help buy space for the shooting platforms. Between having 9 skorpekh, access to 3 sets of scarabs, and an okay amount of battleline the Canoptek court doesn't NEED more bodies (even if the Wraiths are better bodies). The hypercrypt legion on the other hand has a lot more of its points tied up in Doomsday arcs than the Court has in Canoptek Destroyers so I included the Wraiths.

    I so needed this exact video, thinking of starting necrons as my 2nd army and had no clue where to start

    Love the Necron's. They are the first army I ever got all the way up to 2000 points and with Hypercrypt, it gives me two incredibly different styles of play to be able to go with. One side is heavy on scoring primaries and holding objectives, while the other is incredibly mobile and designed for scoring secondaries. I love having that flexibility in the army.

      It's certainly great! Sometimes it goes too far and necrons score a 100 by turn 3 like in 9th edition without doing anything, but it makes for a great learning army.

    I'd also say that, if you love the fantasy of taking a lot of damage and then recovering most of it and laughing in your opponent's face, but Necrons just aren't capturing your attention for other reasons, Genestealer Cults also have a lot of that flavour. Most of the units aren't anywhere near as tanky (although aberrants with an abominant can take a stupid amount of damage and dish out a ton too) and can be pretty easily killed by stuff that goes well against hordes, they do have some recovery with units that are still alive.
    However, their strength in this aspect is that infantry units that are destroyed can be redeployed (without any characters that were with them) via deep strike at the end of your opponent's next movement phase. There is some chance involved (base roll of 5+, +1 if it's a battleline unit, +1 if it's on the first or second turn), and the opponent can nullify the redeploy by moving within 9 inches of the redeploy marker you place (or any rules that counter deep strike), but it's incredibly satisfying to have an annoying unit totally destroyed, getting a successful cult ambush roll, and then either the unit is back next turn or your opponent has to take extra effort to make sure the redeploy is nullified, which could mean giving up on an objective or priority target for a turn.
    Genestealer cults also have a lot of other fun flavour to them. You could have a bunch of stuff throwing bombs, you could have a bunch of vehicles zipping about, and they've also got a pretty big variety (at least compared to the handful of different units they can field) of characters they can run that can change a lot about how the army plays.
    Also if you're interested in lore and like tragedies, there's plenty with the Genestealer Cults too. They spend decades/centuries slowly preparing their planet for the arrival of their gods (the Tyranids), and then when Ascension Day arrives and the Tyranids are finished with the planet, the surviving cult members usually get eaten too. Sometimes they get to continue travelling with the hive fleet, but usually they get eaten.

      How are they for people new to the actual game though? I really like look of GSC (especially being a Nid fan) but everything I've heard is there difficult to play, while Necrons on otherhand, while being boring to look at, play really well for newcomers

    Just getting into 40K and finding your videos really interesting. Is there anything you’d change on the Canoptek Court list since the update, specifically within the 1000 and 2000 point lists? Currently have a single combat patrol and looking for a progression path. Thanks for the time and effort you put in to these videos to help newer hobbyists like myself.

    • @Speeds_Gaming_Corner
      @Speeds_Gaming_Corner  2 місяці тому

      I'll try to look into it. I think picking up another combat patrol is solid but i also think wraiths are still a good direction for at least 1 6 man unit. It's not as unfair as before but it's still a rough profile.
      All of that said I don't have enough Pariah Nexus data to give the best direction. If there's a unit you like it's always a safe bet. Otherwise try out tabletop simulator and see what feels good!

    So can I get a TLDR for the main differences/playstyle between the 2 lists?

    • @Speeds_Gaming_Corner

      Canoptek court is going to want to dominate the middle of the board and buy space for the Destroyers to hit long firing angles.
      Hypercrypt wants to pull the opponent around the board and use its ability to redeploy anything it wants during the match. Your doomsday arks are at their best if you can set them up on a kill lane and just plant them but you can also just pick up all 3 of them in one turn if needed, redeploy them on a brand new angle, and make it impossible for your opponent to stop you from getting maximum value out of their shooting.

    • @j.scottwigginsjr.3946
      @j.scottwigginsjr.3946 6 місяців тому

      @@Speeds_Gaming_Corner So in other words, Canoptek court is about using most of your forces in closer range combat to give your long range guys the best shots, while Hypercrypt relies on mobility to engage the enemy wherever it's most advantageous?

    • @Speeds_Gaming_Corner
      @Speeds_Gaming_Corner  6 місяців тому +2

      @@j.scottwigginsjr.3946 exactly. Now if you have lots of wraiths in canoptek court you do have some pretty solid melee as well, but with the style I have here the warrior spam creates move blocking lines to buy space.
