As you already had the airbrush around, you could have sprayed a bit of the green and/or yellow at the Necrons from below, giving the bases a kind of eerie, toxic glow.
Have you tried Gauss Green from AP's neon Air range? Mind you on the cracklebases I usually tap a hole with a small drill and run a bit of wire like a bit of paperclip and use superglue. I do want to try that jungle green though that's BRIGHT
I have that one, in the bottle it looks really dark though? I need to give it a try. I thought about pinning these minis on the base too, but just wanted to test scratching and gluing and they have held up very strong. But pinning is definitely the better option
@WatchItPaintIt it does look dark, but especially on a white undercoat it's super bright. Using a brush I had to do 3 coats to get a good depth of color like your video shows
I am going to have a play at doing this with modle already glued on. It might/should tie the feet of the modle to the base. I will make sure no crackle on the feet though.
these look great! im going to try this technique myself but only crackle paint i have is 'AK's Dark and Dry Crackle Effects Diorama', which I have practically 0 experience with. Fingers crossed! Thanks for this video though man!
I love the look. How durable is crackle paint? It seems like it would flake off after a while. Anyone know if there are any ways of sealing the crackles to prevent flaking?
looks great. but at the end i would suggest to seal the base with a varnish (shiny or matt) , else the crackle paint might chip off over time. if i ever get a 28mm illidan stormrage model this base colour woud be perfect.
You know, if you took a few neon or pastel colors and blended them from one tobthe nextnunder the black crackle paint you would have a neat chaos-y look.
And I did the multi layer lava under my Salamanders in this manner. NEVER skip the glue/sealer layer!! Make sure you seal it after finishing the crackle as well. So it doesn’t flake off over time.

That’s a great idea!!
Huzzah for fluos!
The new Fanatic Effects Disgusting Slime is basically the colour you painted the base. :)
I love neon green.
Is it!? I have it but it didn’t look as bright! I will try it out
Good idea, looks fast and easy. Thanks!
I love the Green Stuff Worlds neon paints! Your word pun game was on top in this vid!!! :) :)
I’ll check them out! Thank you 🙏
May the algorithm serve and protect!
I never thought I'd see the day when Ben used an airbrush :D Very creative base!
I like to be very medium at as many things I can in life :D
Would you please do one for ice/snow/frost looking? I'm not sure how to begin. Absolutely love this crackle paint idea!
I'd probably use a light blue undercoat - then use a white crackle paint. Just don't know who makes one 🤔
Mom joke - Absolutely priceless!!
This was my first video of his.. I couldn't believe it, came from wayyyy left field 🤣🤣
Man, those look absolutely vicious. I love them! Uh, I mean... heresy! For the Emperor!
Made it with moot green from GW. Worked fine
Me too 💪

Now i can make OSHA Compliant Hi-Viz Marines
:-D
priceless 😂 🤣

If I wanted to achieve a light blue glow similar to this, could it work?
Yes! Just use blues!
I am happy I watched it before sending it to a friend wvia work chat XD
Keep that on the DL :D

Let us know how you get on! Good luck
I’m going to use this for Szarekh the silent king
Going to do this for blackstone fortress… any idea what air colors would do neon blue??
I want to try that myself. Any idea what you’d call the base? I’d give it a college try if I was making a video about it :D
AWESOME!❤
Glad you like it!
Greenstuff world has a nice fluorescent range that work great through an airbrush.
Thanks for the tip!

Sorry, I glossed over the step where I varnished them! I don’t know what, but I always add a quick layer of varnish once the crackle has dried
@@WatchItPaintIt No problem at all mate, I probably wasn’t paying attention enough in the video to see that bit. Great to hear varnish works!
Extra effect tipp: Use martian ironearth instead and go over it black with an airbrush while it is still wet.
Looks cool
That's some fel looking lava you've got there.
I bought mordant earth for these style bases and unfortunately it doesn't crackle dry like its supposed to
It definitely should do! Did you shake it/mix it, did you put it on thick? Did you let it dry naturally?

Oh yes great tip! I completely forgot to mention, I did varnish mine after it dried.
I do the exact same bases, I enjoy tesseract glow from citadel. I'm still hunting for a good alternative for mordant earth in large quantity.
Niceeee! Oh me too, this stuff is expensive to paint large batches. Let me know if you ever find anything good
I do the same thing with Moot Green. I use it for my Thousand Sons like the ground is being cracked open by Chaos magic.
4:10 just to remind me that i should play this section to my workmate
🤣 🤣 🤣 I love comments like that, I’m always like “I wonder what I did” and have to watch it myself and I’m like “oh Jesus :-D”

It's reminisicent of a post-Hand of Gul'Dan Shadowmoon Valley. (from World of Warcraft)
Nice
For how little work this was, definitely going to be my go too speed base for necrons now!
@@WatchItPaintIta nice quicky for a combat patrol
Hey Ben nice bases. Ak interactive and Greenstuff world have crackle texture paints. I've used them both there worth a look
Oh nice! I need to check them out, but I worry there’s a huge import tax?
Most uk stores stock them now Bud.@@WatchItPaintIt
My son did similar for Tyranids

Take a UV light to those bases and watch them really light up
Why does nobody ever consider the poor skaven and their toxic warpstone bases....
Damnnnn. Now I feel bad! Excellent suggestion!
Can I Please have the paints?
❤ The Algorithm protects...!
Don't bring my mother into this!!!!
Title of my sex tape!
Why do you Brits walk your dogs at night?
