One comment on the top lid release: it does indeed put up a major fight, when you're trying to force the top forwards (towards you) far enough to release the two hidden front clips.
I finally hit on a method that worked like a charm: a furniture clamp. I braced the end foot against the back of the top lid (just below the control panel housing) and the sliding front foot against the front corner, just below the top lid, then applied clamping pressure. That forced the lid forwards, and as soon as I could lift that corner up, I stuffed some rags in to prevent it from latching itself closed again. I then moved the clamp to the other side (I only had one clamp 😁) to release the other corner, and that was that.
As for unplugging the wiring connector to the door light switch, that requires a tiny screwdriver to release a captive locking tooth in the middle of the plug body that holds the connector together. There is actually a tooth on both sides, so some patience and prying is needed. Get one tooth released, pull/twist the connector to get any gap at all to open up, then release the tooth on the other side and it should let go.

Thank you Sir, I was about to give up when I saw your video. Same loud noise. I had four deck screws that were embedded in the felt liner which would explain the noise. I hope you were able to eliminate your problem as well. There was also a LOT of coins down at the bottom

Thanks a whole bunch ! I could not get the front panel off or figure it out, but thanks to you and your video that you was kind enough to do, I was able to get it off and do some cleaning. I had the set between 10 to 15 years, and believe it or not, it required very little cleaning, just the bottom had a buildup that looked like some serious "Dust Bunny's" that was easy to wipe clean. Thanks again you are a life saver. G.B.Y.

Thank you. Before watching this...me not removing the two lint screen screws @1:05 was a bit of a problem, lol. By the sound of things, I thought the drum belt might have broken but, it appears excellent. I hoped to have success in simply cleaning everything out and not having to replace ANYTHING for it to work again buuuuuuuuuut... Anyway, this video gave me the info and confidence I needed to spend half a day opening up and cleaning out the interior; not only the front but also the back and my duct work!

This dryer is super easy to disassemble, if you know how to get the top off.
You saved me alot of time and I truly appreciate the work you put in to making this video. So you cod help others.
      Outstanding sir.

Lifting the lid, no worries. But taking off the front panel, and the drum coming "loose" is what makes me 😬. I just want to get to the lint bunnies that I'm sure have accumulated inside the cabinet.
I'll start with the lid, and go from there. Thanks for the tutorial, it's gonna really help. 😊

I got the front panel off to extract a very dead smelly mouse. Now I can't get the damn thing back on it. It doesn't line up either the stupid clips on the front bottom sides. My wife is passed at me even though she wanted the dead mouse out. This is the first dryer I've ever had trouble with. I've got over 10 hours on this thing. I swear to God I'll duck tape it together before I buy another one. I can't afford to get another one.

"If I slide it forward"? Slide WHAT forward? The top panel? Mine does not budge - putting on enough force to begin to bend the metal. Maytag model SDE4606AYH electric dryer. Please show EXACTLY what you are doing to get this to pop apart / release.
