Excellent. Thank you! It's hard to imagine that lint build up can have such a catastrophic outcome as a fire. Still, it seemed like a daunting task until I watched your video. My dryer's now all squeaky clean and safe. Another thing I learned recently is to never turn a dryer on and go to bed, or go out. It's an element...like a stove!!! Thank you again for this LIFE SAVING video.

Just recently my mothers dryer stopped pushing hot air and with your videos I discovered the previous owner bypassed the thermal fuse, so now the high limit and the heat element thermostat were toasted instead of just a cheap little fuse, ended up replacing everything just to be safe and cleaning the ventilation tubes.

Sadly, I, too, am only here because I must have missed some maintenance tasks that I was supposed to be doing with my dryer.

Informative video, My Maytag bravo XL dryer is not catching lint in the lint catcher. Only one inch of the very bottom of the catcher traps lint on it. If I take it apart like in your video I will I most likely find it clog up and will just need cleaning or more likely it has a bigger issues. When I removed the vent pipe from the dry to the wall it had a cup of water in the line. Thanks

    • @LeanOnYourRep
      @LeanOnYourRep  3 роки тому +1

If you have water in your line, most likely your dryer vents through the roof and the screen on the roof vent is blocked causing the moisture to trickle back down. If this is a case you're going to have to go into the attic and disassemble the pipe you'll just need aluminum tape for when you put it back together. No need to climb on the roof

That's the part he removed from the back. The entire duct comes out in one piece. Two screws at the top where the lint screen slides in and 3-4 at the bottom. there will also be globs of lint behind the blower fan, which needs to be scrubbed with a small brush (toothbrush) and the outlet duct can be cleaned out by hand. What he didn't bother to show was all the lint inside the dryer body than builds up. Takes about 15 minutes to pop the top up and remove the front for a thorough cleaning.

@@mikel.laughridge9480 a dog is a four-legged creature, also known as a canine. I took my canine to the exterior yard of my home to use the restroom, which also happens to be where my dryer is vented to, as it turns out that venting it inside your home can kill you.... and your canine. Anywho, while outside with my canine (my dryer was still inside with no canine in or near it), I removed the dryer vent cap and found it was full of lint; removing said lint caused the dryer to begin drying properly again. No canines were harmed in the making of this statement and I always make sure to keep my canine out of my basement and especially my dryer. Question: what would cause water to condense in the vent hose? I just took apart my
whirlpool dryer (front and back) to clean out all the lint. I cleaned out the vent hose and the vent to the outside. some of the lint trapped in the vent hose was wet (not just damp, but you could wring water from it). I rinsed it out, cleaned it thoroughly and hung it up to dry. Then I reattached it to the dryer and the outside vent and ran the empty dryer on high for an hour and an no heat tumble for 30 minutes, alternating that 3 times. It then sat overnight. I thought it would be bone dry the next day, but when I uncoupled it from the dryer, there was about 1/2-1 cup of water in the hose and dripping out of the dryer vent in the back. This was an empty dryer!! What on earth caused this??? Is it just latent humidity from the air it's sucking in? Is there a way to prevent this? If it's happening regularly, no wonder my dryer gets stopped up so frequently.

When I go to pull my lent trap out it will roll off and fall inside the dryer. Whether it be a small amount or large. I need to know how to get inside my dryer to get all this lint out. I'm scared to use it because I am afraid it will catch on fire!
I purchased the long brushes and the attachments for a vacuum. But both are too short to go to the base of the dryer.

I have a Whirlpool dryer. A sock fell down the lint trap. My vacuum attachment won’t fit down there so how do I get it out?! Would the sock have gone all the way through to where it comes out on the outside of the house? I’m gonna check.

I have a basic whirlpool dryer that looks like the dryer in this video. We purchased new and it’s run like a charm for three years and still no problems But recently I’m noticing the lint filter doesn’t seem to be filling and it seems damp? I’ve checked down inside and there’s nothing visible obstructing and also checked both ends of hose from back of machine to wall and looks great. Do you have any suggestions? Should I worry before it starts to not dry

Clean the exhaust hose that goes from the back of the dryer to the exterior of the house or up to the roof. If that exhaust hose is blocked by lint or somehow got kinked, the hot moist air cannot escape, and there’s not enough airflow to trap the lint against the lint screen.
This can be very dangerous and start a dryer fire. For your family’s safety, take immediate action!!!

I've been told you should also clean errant lint under and around the actual drum. How can I get to that?

My mom has a old Maytag dryer and she doesn’t want to replace it. She has never had a deep clean done on it that I’m aware of. With the burning smell prob coming from the element in it or build up… is it worth it for me to open it up you think? Or just retire it out. She’s stubborn and doesn’t want to let it go if either I can fix it or have it fixed 😂

My dryer is 1 year old and some moist started coming out from where the duct are connected. Past few weeks I have noticed that the filter is coming cleared after few loads of drying 🤔. I know something wrong is happening but I couldn't figure it out. Any help please! Thank you for your video.

I dropped the filter screw in the filter hole by accident. Will this effect anything?

I pulled the lint trap out and the lint didn’t come along with it. I put it back in there to try to get it out with it but instead I pushed it back farther. Should I even dry my clothes tonight?

For some reason my dryer won’t catch any lint. Why could that be? Screen is in tact and it just blew a huge dust bunny out the back. I took it apart and cleaned it in the summer

The inlet grill on my five year old Maytag is very corroded and jagged and discolored. I have never smelled smoke. Everything I have looked up says nothing about how I should handle this... Can you give me any advice. Thank you.

Are these the main spots to clean up any lint or debris?
