Billy Connolly once said, that the funnest people he met- at that time- were the hard-working men in the shipyards, where he once worked. Their stories had him in fits of laughter. I used to work 12 shifts in a factory, and although it was repetitive; pull the remaining hair outta your head work, the craic was brilliant! When you're stuck in a shitty job like that, all you have is you and your colleagues humor to help get you through the day.

Billy Connolly worked in the shipyards for a few weeks and spent the rest of his life talking about it.

Ha haaaa, this was brilliant. It was like a walk down memory lane. I whither away in some mindless, morgue of an office now but this reminded me of my early years working in a steel factory. If anybody messed up or got injured everybody would start doing this naval siren sort of whooping noise as they suffered whatever it was. Guys being rushed to first aid after getting white hot weld in their eyes being rushed down the factory, off to hospital yet the best the rest of the work force could offer was "Whoooop! Whooop!" It was hilarious. I even laughed when it happened to me. I set my back on fire standing too close to a propane heater one freezing cold morning. One of the other guys casually said as he walked past "Your back's on fire mate." As I realised he wasn't joking & started rolling around like a lunatic all I could hear was "Whooop! Whooop!" Classic stuff. Man, I miss those days. What happened to me?

I wished Bill was in the Office, the same time Patrice was. Then they get their spinoff as the Warehouse workers

I used to work manual labor and I can tell you those were some of the funniest people I ever met. All day and every day we would give each other a hard time but knew it was only a joke. It would really help you get through the day.
Now I rot in an office all day and I am often the only person that will say a joke or will laugh.

Wahhh! I feel that way when people complain in general, unless you just have to get it off your chest in a cathartic way, but it's just life.

tree climber 30 + years, some of the things I have seen and heard man, damn, hard work freeze in the winter boil in the summer but the guys on the crews are usually freaking hilarious. Between drunks, stoners, wack jobs, bull shitting newbies and bitter lifers jesus the jokes and ball busting by guys who don't have much and get hurt hard is priceless.

I have the same preference over blue collar jobs coz the manual work like moving things around simply brings satisfaction.

So true about those blue collar jobs, I almost got an office job but I'm kinda thankful I didn't because I would have had to wake up early as fuck everyday and it would have been BORING. Some of the people at work are fucking FUNNY which makes work pretty fun sometimes.

Can anyone help me find this - I've been searching for this clip on youtube from a podcast with Bill Burr where he tells hilarious stories about guys who got killed on the job and how their colleagues reactions were hilariously insensitive. Example he mentioned a guy who literally got crushed to death and a guy who worked with him reacted to the incident by saying "he was kind of a dick to be honest".
