C5 Z06 Owner here. I don't have that wild LS7 but the C5 is a little slippier and a little lighter and an even more raw experience. Great car. Truly nothing comes close for the $$$. But if you care about interior you might want to look elsewhere lol. A vette is a drivers car and nothing more.
I have a 2016 challenger rt with dual black stripes and straight pipe love the sound and looks but I want a 2012-14 gt500 or a c8 corvette next or gtr (to expensive) so bad

If the GTR was the fastest car in the world and beat everything else (IRL, that's not unrealistic lol) people would still find numerous reasons to hate it and defend their favorite loser car. It always happens every time a GTR races something. Why is it that hard to just accept that Nissan put a lot of effort into the GTR and made an engineering marvel? I understand, we all have our favorite cars. The mustang and corvette aren't bad cars, and I also like them along with the GTR. However, making lame excuses like "The mustang is still is cooler" isn't helping your argument and just makes you sound ignorant. Oh, and by the way for my fellow Americans, just because a car is domestically made does NOT make you patriotic or a better person because you drive/love it. Imports aren't evil, and I have personally seen astonishingly better quality out of them.
I don't knock the gtrs. they are technologically amazing, mechanically amazing, and doesn't look that bad. but this is a quarter race. yea, it'll win. nissan somehow made that car amazing at launch, but a half or mile race and the muscle is the dominant species.
Well with all due respect, the GTR is engineered to do exactly what it's doing. The problem is that loses all of its gusto at a quarter mile. A half-mile the Corvette smokes it. The other problem is the GTR doesn't handle as well to a trained driver because the four-wheel-drive makes it understeer heavily. The Corvette is just a better car. The only thing the GTR excels in is right here in this exact video. Anything else involving cornering or more than 1/4 Mile trap speed, forget it. My biggest issue with the GTR though is the fact that it's completely unreliable. They built everything off of a V6 that already has reliability issues and they're trying to get even more horsepower out of in the GTR. That's why despite their not being that many of them out there, there's endless videos on UA-cam of people blowing engines in them.

Yah the Shelby is 55 grand.The vette 98 grand.The gtr 90 grand.Basically the gtr and vette is double the price.How about putting my 10 super snake against the the vette and GTR.Why because were basically the same price.But honestly my 900hp super snake would smoke them both.I even raced my neighbors Lamborghini with my 08 850hp GT500 and my 10 900hp super snake and I killed him with both car's.

I could care less if you put a Mustang with 550 hp against a 530 hp GTR and 505 hp Vette because the GTR and Vette are obviously going to have the upper hand. I knew from the beginning that the GTR was going to win and the Vette coming in second because they are drag cars, not saying the Shelby isn't but it's not really at home on a drag strip. Now putting it on a track against these cars would be a whole different story; just saying. I love Chevy but I knew the GTR was going to beat the Vette because the GTR is AWD and the acceleration in that car was made for drag racing.
Gtr is not a drag car. It's power and drivetrain setup is for exiting corners. It just so happens that nissan put the launch control system in it to beat Porsches 09 0-60 time and it turned out to be a great 1/4 mile car at the same time. Good job nissan!

@@MattHookem they are traction limited from the factory. Mm&ff ran 11.5 at 118-119 stock on drag radials in one of these pre trinity cars. They're certainly not slow.
Yes I was modified at the time with full exhaust and No tune. I later found out I was 30hp higher than stock-I'm sure it helped a little bit. The roll race was much closer for sure. From a dig I would've won either way. The ZR1 and z06 undoubtedly fast but very inconsistent at both drag and road course (from what I've seen).
Ford Crown Victoria : because it breakdown every 400 miles and they have to rebuild transmission every 20000 miles. I used to drive at least 12 Crown Victoria as a taxi. Now I drive Toyota Camry Hybrid 2009 and I 355000 miles and only one water pump break down my friend, that's the difference.
Paul Williams The GTR beats the ZR1 in 0-60, 0-100, 0-150 and is faster around most tracks, including the nurburgring. As for the z06, the GTR is still faster in a straight line and beats the z07 on the redbull ring by more than 4 seconds.

Gonna sound like a typical GTR hater but the early models are notorious for blowing their insanely expensive transmissions when using launch control and Nissan WILL NOT cover it even when they were new... That vette (and maybe the mustang) could make those passes over and over again and not break a sweat.
@@gaddyify I know my 900hp SS would spank a ZR1.Back in 09 my 07 super snake beat the ZR1.The ZR1 ran 11.00 at 130mph and my super snake ran 10.87 at 135mph.The time is close but trap speed is 5mph.That is a big speed difference.

Corvettes are very slow in the 1/4 mile. Corvette owners always put drag radials and a bunch of other mods on them and then try to claim that they're stock, LMFAO.
Look at the GTR Nismo vs Corvette ZR1 on the long straight at the Nurburgring. The GTR NISMO easily out accelerated the ZR1 from a roll at the Nurburgring and achieved a much higher speed before braking.

According to Porsche, the GT2RS's 7:18 lap time was a claim by them as a synthesized lap time. The ran around the Nurburgring a few times, taking the fastest times through different sections of the track and then adding them together, instead of just lapping the whole thing at once in one shot. I still think it's B.S., seeing how the Porsche GT2RS has fallen behind the ZR1 and even the Z06 at Laguna Seca.

i've owned a couple nissans back in the day 1986 nissan 300zx and a 92 nissan maxima. all i faced was a bunch of electrical issues. my old folks owned a infinti j30 about a decade back. same thing happen is electrical problems. im through with nissan. i now drive a lexus es and a honda crotchrocket for spring/summer fun.
It's not even my all-time favorite car (As you can see in my display picture) but I have immense of respect towards that car for how far it has come along, performance-wise, in all these past years..
Isaac Morales The ONLY reason the GT-R is 0.2 seconds quicker than the ZO6 in the 0-60 time is due to the all wheel drive of the Nissan. If they run 0-100 the ZO6 would tear the Nissan a new ass!

I'm not a hater, but I dont know why people love so much Mustangs and Camaros (well, the '69 Mustang is such a good looking classic)... I mean, they are heavy, fat, "slow" they can't turn, aerodynamics: error 404 - not found, the only good thing about them (my opinion) is the sound... and you can get the same sound on a v8 british car or on a mercedes (any) 6.3l AMG for exemple...
The 2013-2014 supersnakes have a Kenne Bell twin screw supercharger and puts down 750 horsepower at the wheels, which is right around 850 at the flywheel. Power like that is good for 135-145 mph in the quarter mile, capable of low 10's and possibly 9's, but all of these numbers depend on curb weight and traction. And stock 2013-2014 GT500's trap faster than C6 Z06's in the quarter mile, as you just saw here, Z06 traps 123 mph in 11.8 seconds, GT500 goes 11.6's at 126 with major traction issues
you cant put a shelby gt500 against a z06 and a gtr the shelby has 550 hp the z06 has over 600 and the gtr may have less at 480 but operates at way higher rpms making it faster off the line and faster to hit top speed the z06 also operating at higher rpms as the shelby plus you put a camoaro against a shelby the camaro looses almost every time so mustangs not shitty just in an unfair race
Dude the Shelby costs half of what the others do. Plus if they were to do the same thing but with the 2014 it would be a different story, they have 662hp and still only cost 55k. They post mid 11 sec 1/4s, low 11s on DRs. Oh and btw "Camaro495" I dont see any Camaros hanging with the big boys. They couldnt even if the ignition worked *burn*
Well, when you put it up against two very different cars, yes. The Vette is way lighter than Mustang and the GTR is AWD, automatic, and has launch control. This is common sense.
GT-R's are arguably one of the best "drag race" production cars. They're All wheel drive, they have 2 drive trains so there is no pausing for shifting, and they are relatively light weight. the only thing that sucks about the GT-R is it's top end speed acceleration is a lot lower than other cars.
The GT starts at $30,900. So 420 hp V8 with significantly more potential vs 332 hp and similar mpg for 1K more. Well worth the price difference. Everyone else thinks so as well which is why there are so many mustangs on the road.
I agree 100%. The best ET is all about the first 60ft. RWD and a lot of power will never hook well on a street radial compared to a drag radial. Bone stock 2008 Corvette z06 with Drag Radials 11.02 @ 127.49 Anyone that can afford any of these cars can afford drag radials. They needed to offer the 6L90 6 speed auto as an option in the ZO6 & ZR1 and all of the 1/4 mile times would drop. Much softer launch.
I agree with this. I would not buy a GT-R for that reason, but I have to admire its capabilities. If you ever get a chance to ride in one, do it. It's amazing. But again, it's not for me personally.
I think it would be nice to see the drag race instead of 3 or 4 camera angles and about 6 seconds of the race. The slow-mo on the launch was neat though. It was cool to see the tires of the vette and mustang sort of cog when each cylinder fires.. that was very interesting since you’d never see that in real time.
Yeah they were all Z06s. One guy I was able to race both from a light and rolling from about 40mph. The outcome was the same either way but from a dig they ended up in my rearview by the top of my 1st gear. Stock vs. Stock ZR1 faster on a straight line roll race for sure. Once tuned it's all dependent. We do a lot of racing down here in so cal. ZR1s rarely come out on top. Like I said before, at the track GTRs dominate from what I've witnessed. That ZR1 is an untamed beast.
I think research needs to be done on your end. I have been involved in club racing with my GTR for nearly two years now and have met many several owners/drivers throughout my interaction with them. Almost none of us use the run-flats due to their hard sidewalls and hard compounds. The difference between run-flats and the preferred Toyo R888 tire has been close to 3 seconds at Fontana (High Speed Track) Same day, same car, same driver for comparisons sake.
That's exactly my point. But he seemingly wants to put the GT-R on a pedestal, no matter what.. Just because he supposedly owns one, doesn't mean it's the better car, performance-wise.. There is a reason why so many car enthusiasts rather get a Corvette over a GT-R. It's the reason why Corvettes are sold over 8 times more than the GT-R. Even in Canada, where obviously an AWD car would be fitting best for the snowy roads up there, Corvettes were sold over 4 times more than the GT-Rs.
Yes you have a good point. All the manufacturers are looking at getting a head start, but for this video its obvious the awd launch control of the Nissan gtr is an advantage.Just .6 of a second and the corvette will be the same as the gtr. Also a bit longer and the Z06 will outrun the gtr.
Maybe, but a better start from launch control (which Corvette now have in some models) along with paddle shifters would make it a more balanced affair.
you need to read my reply again, i said nothing about drag race 1/4 half or 1 mile... gt-r will not keep up in the curves. the z06 is designed for a track not drag strips. the only advantage the gt-r had was awd out of the hole and the zo6 held on after that. if you want to go in a strait line/ tow a boat and room for the whole family? a twin turbo escalade is faster and cheaper than a gt-r
I somewhat agree I think if all 3 cars came with a manual transmission and launch control was turned off and say all 3 cars had to launch at 4500rpms. I think it would be a very close race and I think the Z06 would win with power/weight distribution but the MustangShelby would probably be a very very close second.
The GTR is awesome. No one should EVER deny that. But what I will say is that every car showed it's value here pretty well. the cheapest was in last, the optioned out ZO6 was second, and the second most expensive came first. Shocker? Not really. The gtr is the KING OF LAUNCHES!! Even the old ones launch themselves right off a track if there's a turn up ahead because the acceleration is disorienting.
Valid point, clearly no car would take "no" experience, but exaggerating is something common in the likes of UA-cam arguments. I've track drove a few cars, for my age it's still rather nice to be able to do something so fun. But if people can drive a stick, they should generally be safe enough to drive say a Corvette minor aids such as basic traction control would keep most individuals out of the sticks with just about any car. I'm not in the mood to argue tonight, I'll just leave it at that.
I drove a 2013 Shelby Gt500 tonight at Midway Rental and I honestly can't imagine many cars being faster than that in a manual transmission. That car was so powerful in the low rpms and in 1st gear I still have a huge smile on face 5 hours later. This is a real american car.
Your correct the people that have ran into 10s on stock Z were using drag ratios but 93 octane. It's really no use to put higher octane if your not on boost or anything else. But there have been a lot that ran into low 11 s on street tires. I was only trying to say that a Z can go faster than that driven better.
You said it yourself, DORK! The cars were faster when Randy Pobst was behind the wheel of BOTH cars. On the 2012 Z06 vs 2013 GT-R, it wasn't Randy Pobts behind the wheel of any of those, hence why he slower times for BOTH cars, although the Z06 STILL managed to get the FASTER lap time, and they said it themselves in the review that the Z06 still had more to be extracted from it, but the GT-R is said to be able to be driven by anyone, and this 2013 GT-R just showed it's nothing special :D
It was actually signed off as stock by a track official.... Hence why it's under Bone stock on the fast list. He did check everything. Not only did the track official confirm it was stock but other people have confirmed so. A track official does count. it's a test. He just took his bone stock Stock tire Z06 there and ran that. If you say the Z06 was on drag radials or slicks there's a bone stock Z06 with street radials running 10.7 @ 131 mph.The old SRT10 viper ran 10.92 @ 130 mph.A tad quicker.

The GTR with all wheel drive is the ringer in this bunch. It has that advantage and more HP than the Vette...granted more weight. A rolling start would surely show different results. Wonder why they pit the highest HP cars in the Nissan and Ford lines and leave out the ZR1?
ya but the price advantage gets tossed out the window and unfortunately those cars DO NOT handle like a vette. Look up the spec sheets on both and you'll see a bunch of "N/A" which doesn't make any sense and "N/T" for not tested because they can't justify the price with the lack of performance that any trim mustang has. That's why the newest one is pushing 800hp.
i know this was shot quite a long time ago but id really like to see the zr1 vs the 2013 gt 500 vs the gtr, the corvette and the mustang still suffer from the same rear wheel problems but the increased power and technology on the new cars would probably change things quite a bit
Gtr is a serious track car, vette is a fun track car, and the gt500 is just a fun every day road car. All three are great cars and achieve what they set out to do.
Her's has 118k miles on it, we got it with 101k and I can't wait to get rid of the thing. I guess they didn't build it to go over 100k miles. Oh, you get to remove the intake to get at the spark plugs btw. Not the cover, not some plastic shell, the upper half of the intake. My silverado still gets better power, fuel economy, reliabilty, and pretty much everything else over that pile 'o'crap.
GTRs don't destroy anything. I just posted a video of a 2008 ZO6 pulling hard on a 2014 GTR. There aren't enough GTRs on the road to be concerned about. I would swear I saw a floor mat package for $1,000 as an option. The premium Interior package is around $4k.

Oh the GT-R can win races against Corvettes when they are not owned by someone experienced with the car, performance-wise. A GTR is is actually heavier, they're about the same size, 20 less horsepower, about 60 lb/ft of tq, and has a back seat and yes, it does have all wheel drive. If you didn't know, it's pretty hard to shave just over a second off. A second in a quater mile IS winning by a mile.

That comparison and track time was done with the Boss 302 not the mustang GT. Also if you didnt know a faster time does not mean better in the turns because it can just pull on the straights. The 370z out handles the GT FACT.

I could care less if you put a Mustang with 550 hp against a 530 hp GTR and 505 hp Vette because the GTR and Vette are obviously going to have the upper hand. I knew from the beginning that the GTR was going to win and the Vette coming in second because they are drag cars, not saying the Shelby isn't but it's not really at home on a drag strip. Now putting it on a track against these cars would be a whole different story; just saying. I love Chevy but I knew the GTR was going to beat the Vette because the GTR is AWD and the acceleration in that car was made for drag racing.
Gtr is not a drag car. It's power and drivetrain setup is for exiting corners. It just so happens that nissan put the launch control system in it to beat Porsches 09 0-60 time and it turned out to be a great 1/4 mile car at the same time. Good job nissan!

Yes I was modified at the time with full exhaust and No tune. I later found out I was 30hp higher than stock-I'm sure it helped a little bit. The roll race was much closer for sure. From a dig I would've won either way. The ZR1 and z06 undoubtedly fast but very inconsistent at both drag and road course (from what I've seen).

Look at the GTR Nismo vs Corvette ZR1 on the long straight at the Nurburgring. The GTR NISMO easily out accelerated the ZR1 from a roll at the Nurburgring and achieved a much higher speed before braking.

According to Porsche, the GT2RS's 7:18 lap time was a claim by them as a synthesized lap time. The ran around the Nurburgring a few times, taking the fastest times through different sections of the track and then adding them together, instead of just lapping the whole thing at once in one shot. I still think it's B.S., seeing how the Porsche GT2RS has fallen behind the ZR1 and even the Z06 at Laguna Seca.

i've owned a couple nissans back in the day 1986 nissan 300zx and a 92 nissan maxima. all i faced was a bunch of electrical issues. my old folks owned a infinti j30 about a decade back. same thing happen is electrical problems. im through with nissan. i now drive a lexus es and a honda crotchrocket for spring/summer fun.

The 2013-2014 supersnakes have a Kenne Bell twin screw supercharger and puts down 750 horsepower at the wheels, which is right around 850 at the flywheel.
Power like that is good for 135-145 mph in the quarter mile, capable of low 10's and possibly 9's, but all of these numbers depend on curb weight and traction.
And stock 2013-2014 GT500's trap faster than C6 Z06's in the quarter mile, as you just saw here, Z06 traps 123 mph in 11.8 seconds, GT500 goes 11.6's at 126 with major traction issues

Well, when you put it up against two very different cars, yes. The Vette is way lighter than Mustang and the GTR is AWD, automatic, and has launch control. This is common sense.
GT-R's are arguably one of the best "drag race" production cars. They're All wheel drive, they have 2 drive trains so there is no pausing for shifting, and they are relatively light weight. the only thing that sucks about the GT-R is it's top end speed acceleration is a lot lower than other cars.
The GT starts at $30,900. So 420 hp V8 with significantly more potential vs 332 hp and similar mpg for 1K more. Well worth the price difference. Everyone else thinks so as well which is why there are so many mustangs on the road.
I agree 100%. The best ET is all about the first 60ft. RWD and a lot of power will never hook well on a street radial compared to a drag radial.

I agree with this. I would not buy a GT-R for that reason, but I have to admire its capabilities. If you ever get a chance to ride in one, do it. It's amazing. But again, it's not for me personally.

I think it would be nice to see the drag race instead of 3 or 4 camera angles and about 6 seconds of the race. The slow-mo on the launch was neat though. It was cool to see the tires of the vette and mustang sort of cog when each cylinder fires.. that was very interesting since you’d never see that in real time.
Sadly this is no longer true though, the corvette and the mustang are still under 6 figures but the Nissan GTR is now 6 figures
BHP is the power measured at the crank (these are the numbers you see given by the manufacturer). WHP is obviously the power measured at the wheels.
Yeah they were all Z06s. One guy I was able to race both from a light and rolling from about 40mph. The outcome was the same either way but from a dig they ended up in my rearview by the top of my 1st gear. Stock vs. Stock ZR1 faster on a straight line roll race for sure. Once tuned it's all dependent. We do a lot of racing down here in so cal. ZR1s rarely come out on top. Like I said before, at the track GTRs dominate from what I've witnessed. That ZR1 is an untamed beast.
I think research needs to be done on your end. I have been involved in club racing with my GTR for nearly two years now and have met many several owners/drivers throughout my interaction with them. Almost none of us use the run-flats due to their hard sidewalls and hard compounds. The difference between run-flats and the preferred Toyo R888 tire has been close to 3 seconds at Fontana (High Speed Track) Same day, same car, same driver for comparisons sake.

That's exactly my point. But he seemingly wants to put the GT-R on a pedestal, no matter what.. Just because he supposedly owns one, doesn't mean it's the better car, performance-wise.. There is a reason why so many car enthusiasts rather get a Corvette over a GT-R. It's the reason why Corvettes are sold over 8 times more than the GT-R. Even in Canada, where obviously an AWD car would be fitting best for the snowy roads up there, Corvettes were sold over 4 times more than the GT-Rs.
Yes you have a good point. All the manufacturers are looking at getting a head start, but for this video its obvious the awd launch control of the Nissan gtr is an advantage.Just .6 of a second and the corvette will be the same as the gtr. Also a bit longer and the Z06 will outrun the gtr.

I somewhat agree I think if all 3 cars came with a manual transmission and launch control was turned off and say all 3 cars had to launch at 4500rpms. I think it would be a very close race and I think the Z06 would win with power/weight distribution but the MustangShelby would probably be a very very close second.
The GTR is awesome. No one should EVER deny that. But what I will say is that every car showed it's value here pretty well. the cheapest was in last, the optioned out ZO6 was second, and the second most expensive came first. Shocker? Not really. The gtr is the KING OF LAUNCHES!! Even the old ones launch themselves right off a track if there's a turn up ahead because the acceleration is disorienting.
Valid point, clearly no car would take "no" experience, but exaggerating is something common in the likes of UA-cam arguments. I've track drove a few cars, for my age it's still rather nice to be able to do something so fun. But if people can drive a stick, they should generally be safe enough to drive say a Corvette minor aids such as basic traction control would keep most individuals out of the sticks with just about any car. I'm not in the mood to argue tonight, I'll just leave it at that.
I drove a 2013 Shelby Gt500 tonight at Midway Rental and I honestly can't imagine many cars being faster than that in a manual transmission. That car was so powerful in the low rpms and in 1st gear I still have a huge smile on face 5 hours later. This is a real american car.

Your correct the people that have ran into 10s on stock Z were using drag ratios but 93 octane. It's really no use to put higher octane if your not on boost or anything else. But there have been a lot that ran into low 11 s on street tires. I was only trying to say that a Z can go faster than that driven better.

On the 2012 Z06 vs 2013 GT-R, it wasn't Randy Pobts behind the wheel of any of those, hence why he slower times for BOTH cars, although the Z06 STILL managed to get the FASTER lap time, and they said it themselves in the review that the Z06 still had more to be extracted from it, but the GT-R is said to be able to be driven by anyone, and this 2013 GT-R just showed it's nothing special :D

It was actually signed off as stock by a track official.... Hence why it's under Bone stock on the fast list. He did check everything. Not only did the track official confirm it was stock but other people have confirmed so. A track official does count. it's a test. He just took his bone stock Stock tire Z06 there and ran that. If you say the Z06 was on drag radials or slicks there's a bone stock Z06 with street radials running 10.7 @ 131 mph.The old SRT10 viper ran 10.92 @ 130 mph.A tad quicker.

ya but the price advantage gets tossed out the window and unfortunately those cars DO NOT handle like a vette. Look up the spec sheets on both and you'll see a bunch of "N/A" which doesn't make any sense and "N/T" for not tested because they can't justify the price with the lack of performance that any trim mustang has. That's why the newest one is pushing 800hp.
i know this was shot quite a long time ago but id really like to see the zr1 vs the 2013 gt 500 vs the gtr, the corvette and the mustang still suffer from the same rear wheel problems but the increased power and technology on the new cars would probably change things quite a bit

All three are great cars and achieve what they set out to do.
Her's has 118k miles on it, we got it with 101k and I can't wait to get rid of the thing. I guess they didn't build it to go over 100k miles. Oh, you get to remove the intake to get at the spark plugs btw. Not the cover, not some plastic shell, the upper half of the intake. My silverado still gets better power, fuel economy, reliabilty, and pretty much everything else over that pile

A GTR is is actually heavier, they're about the same size, 20 less horsepower, about 60 lb/ft of tq, and has a back seat and yes, it does have all wheel drive. If you didn't know, it's pretty hard to shave just over a second off. A second in a quater mile IS winning by a mile.
I honestly don't even know which guy you are referring to. There are so many GT-R fan girls out there lol i lose track of them. No, I've no clue why people would hit the like on that comment, unless they misinterpreted your comment like I did or something. Corvettes are not what they used to be decades ago. Who would ever think that they could one day beat Lamborghinis and many other monsters of cars at the tracks? Corvettes are the real deal and best bargain for performance, too.

That comparison and track time was done with the Boss 302 not the mustang GT. Also if you didnt know a faster time does not mean better in the turns because it can just pull on the straights. The 370z out handles the GT FACT.
