I got a feeling shanks might be faster and have stronger haki as well but weaker physically and lower durability. Luffy was only able to take Kaidos heavy blows thanks to his rubbery properties, I don’t see shanks being able to tank the same type of attacks. I can see a single thunder bagua being super lethal to someone like shanks and I don’t see shanks being able to one shot kaido even if kaido lets him get a free shot in. I give the win to kaido even tho I do believe shanks is stronger but not strong enough to close their resilience

That might compensate the gap. Kaido said haki trumps everything else. But since Kaido is strength incarnated it could be something like Kaido= strength+strong haki+crazy durability and Shanks=super strong haki+speed
@@KaidOda doesn’t change the fact that Kaido might land a lucky hit that shanks won’t be able to easily get back up from. We saw how someone’s durability can change the outcome of the fight with king vs Zoro. Zoro was using armament on his swords and still wasn’t able to deal any sort of damage on king until he figure out his trick. King would of won the fight by simply relying on defense but instead he chose to attack which gave Zoro a chance to deal damage with his literal last attack. Let’s not forget shanks lost an entire arm to a common sea king.

Power creep does not decrease the quality of the series per se, it’s only when power prevents other characters and storylines from being relevant that it becomes a problem,
And while the straw hats have not received as much attention in the post timeskip that has less to do with power, and more to do with the sheer quantity of side characters and stories,
When compared to other mangas it’s nowhere near as bad many of its contemporaries
I disagree with you. The most basic thing in writing an adventure story, a character that has been built for so long shows the improvement of that character, when the protagonist fights his enemies, the obstacles he encounters will be heavier. So for a Shanks who is already in his prime and the story portrayal for Shanks, it's strange that the author made the character not stronger than the previous obstacles for the protagonist of the story.

If feats were the only criteria, of course Kaido's got it. Any scenario of Shanks possibly beating Kaido would be mere speculation. But to be fair, so is the scenario of Kaido possibly beating Shanks. The feats can't tell the answer for sure. If the question is "Who has stronger feats?" Then the answer is undoubtedly Kaido.

@@devereal4229 the reason why the fight was written like that is because Luffy had to upgrade his level multiple times to reach Kaido. Current Luffy is on that upgraded level. Stamina and energy wise Luffy and Kaido were on the same level when Luffy unlocked Gear 5 or Luffy was in even worse condition than Kaido. Gear 5 didn't magically recover Luffy's stamina.

Shanks 9/10 beats Mihawk just in Haki, but Sword to Sword they were relative before shanks lost his arm . So since Shanks lost his arm the only thing really keeping him up is Haki but its so immense that he outclasses most ppl in the verse in Haki.

Kid took nothing from Kaido and Law had to get up because of plot wise. Otherwise that would mean Law is tougher than Bound Man Luffy, which is completly non sense. So Yeah, Kid would be knocked out if he even took a lighting hammered

Eventhough Shanks would be able to negate Kaido's Observation Haki, Kaido is still a tank. He fought 12 people on the rooftop without any breaks. Not to mention 2 of those fighters were able to use Advanced Conquerors Haki. Overall I would say that Kaido has more tricks up his sleeve due to his Devil Fruit, has better Durability Haki wise I would give it to Shanks due to his insane usage of Conquerors Haki and his Advanced Observation and since we don't know much about Shanks's speed and strength I will put them as equal in that regard. This matchup could go either way however if the fight goes on for a while, Kaido should win.

Kid is half strong as big mum, being generous and assuming him and law were doing the same damage to big mum. Half as strong may not seem much, but in is a huge gap, enough to oneshot for sure. And I'm sure shanks is not as durable as kaido.

An ENRAGED Shanks, catching an OFF-GUARD Kidd, with a NAMED attack which is coated in ACOC and one-shotting him is not that impressive. Not to mention Kidd's own Damned Punk blew up on himself.

The point of powerscaling is to compare feats to see who wins. Future relevance in the narritive does not matter in this scenario. It was also acknowledged that shanks may get better feats later on in the manga because of his plot relevance but as it stands right now weve seen way more from kaido than we have from shanks.
The way I rank the Yonkos are like this.

Kaido mainly has endurance and durability going for him. His AP is through the roof, but Luffy has already presented himself as carrying more destructive power than Kaido in G5. Id assume Shanks can deliver similar AP to current Luffy, for much longer than Luffy can. Shanks is dangerous because of his insane AP and stamina. The question really becomes, can Shanks fight Kaido long enough to eventually win, or does Shanks stamina drain before he can finish off Kaido. If Shanks has the Stamina to fight Kaido for an extended period of time at high AP, then I think he takes the fight. However if Shanks does not have the stamina to fight Kaido for days on end, then Kaido will probably win just due to his immense endurance and durability.

The thing about groups in One Piece is they are alwsys viewed by the narrative as comparable to each other.
The haki feats displayed by Shanks are insane, but Kaido's haki is still very powerful plus he has an OP devil fruit and natural physicality that allows him to close the gap. Luffy literally needed his friends and multiple rematches and a godly power up Jesus-style just to finally beat him once.

Shanks has been shown to have frightening CoC haki making Green Bull run away with tail in-between legs in Wano, literally revered GB to base form canceling out his logia powers. Remaining 2 forms of haki he might not be the best in all of OP but among the best. If Oden can cut Kaido Shanks can as well and he isn't battle crazy like Oden/Kid/Luffy/Kaido, it will be a different battle for Kaido.
Shanks crew haven't shown DF users yet, on the open seas would be formidable v the DF heavy pirate crews such as Kaido/Big Mom/BB. In Wano Kaido would have a slight advantage, not that Kaido V Shanks is too relevant anymore (OP needs a lot of character to die before the final arc).

Luffy's Haki is nowhere near Kaido's. We learned that Haki weakens from overuse. Luffy recovered his Haki several times during the raid, meanwhile Kaido was constantly expending Haki all raid.
That take honestly needs to die out. If they fight again, Luffy will get bodied without help
Also if we're using them for title confirmation, his Vivre Card states he is the Strongest creature, not "it's said he's the strongest".. if we're being fair that is.

Saying Luffys Haki is nowhere near Kaido is insane. Kaido would disagree with you... he gave so much props to a pre Gear 5 Luffy who could finally take his full power, and then Gear 5 made him even stronger.
Luffy splitting the sky and then getting acknowdged by Kaido proves Luffy is relative to him in Haki and other ways but not equal. In G5 he is wat worst equal and most likely a little stronger than Kaido in almost all ways. Kaido thinks Luffy is stronger than Big Mom for example.

A fresh Kaido can last days, yet Gear 5 can't even last for hours. Sure Gear 5 is Yonko-level, but Kaido is Gear 5 level without those weaknesses.

Vivre card databooks and other databooks, along with Oda's sketches already confirmed Kaido's the strongest creature. When asked about Akainu when relating to strength in particular, Oda in an SBS completely ignores Akainu and talks about Kaido being the strongest creature.
In your video, you glossed over the title as being a rumor when it's not, it is literally confirmed true in databooks and by Oda himself. It is not debatable.

I heavily disagree for one simple reason. Shanks ended the marineford war without lifting a finger. Every single admiral as well as the fleet admiral and garp were there. Garp was shown to dislike shanks specifically for putting luffy on the path to being a pirate, so you can't argue he would sit back like he had for the rest of the war up until that point. No one even TRIED to mess with shanks. After he blocked Akainu's blow to Coby, shanks just straight up walked off. Akainu didn't even try him. The best chance the marines had at ever taking down shanks was right then and there, and they not only chose not to, they let him end the entire war after they had just taken out Whitebeard himself. Not to mention, Ben Beckman alone was enough to stop Kizaru in his tracks. This is the same Kizaru that was asking Akainu to straight up go after Big Mom AND kaido.
There is a reason Oda has saved shanks for this far into the story. Over and over again he has been played up as this legendary pirate. He also is clearly gearing up Shanks to fight luffy at some point. It makes absolutely no sense whatsoever to have Luffy beat Kaido and then have all this buildup for shanks just to not even be a contender. I firmly believe Shanks is much stronger than Kaido. Based on the context of what we've been given and how much of the story is left over, I find it imposible for him not to be stronger.
Yes, I agree with you. The most basic thing in writing an adventure story, a character that has been built for so long shows the improvement of that character, when the protagonist fights his enemies, the obstacles he encounters will be heavier. So for a Shanks who is already in his prime and the story portrayal for Shanks, it's strange that the author made the character not stronger than the previous obstacles for the protagonist of the story

4.)Because Whitebeard was the strongest Yonko , Marineford proved no Yonko can ever overthrow the Marines.Shanks was there , Teach was there and Sengoku , Garp , Aokiji and Kizaru were fresh to continue , many Vice Admirals as well , keep in min many of the soldiers in Marineford are proficient in Rokushiki at least.With Shanks and Blackbeard , Sengoku amd Shanks knew that if they were to fight , the building would be destroyed with everyone sinking to the sea , that leaves Kaido and Big Mom free to roam in the New World with no one to challenge them other than Luffy , people have overhyped Shanks so much that forget the role he has in the show.
5.)Taking into account Shanks selfless act to bet in the new Era , is proof that he could never be the pirate king.The pirate king doesn't sacrifice his dream , goal and status for anyone.Let alone a body part of his/her own when the pirate king knows how difficult it is to achieve that status.

Full HP Kaido would beat Gear 5 Luffy 100% of the time. And he is in fact physically stronger than anyone, including Shanks. However, Shanks is the better combatant and more formidable fighter. He has better speed, the best Haki in the verse and the better strategist. Shanks beats Kaido EXTREME HIGH DIF tho 90% of the time. The fights didn't matter much for kaidos health but his haki usage still counts haki can be used up and needs rest to recover which he doesn't have and luffy has plenty. Also he's carrying an entire island with a war going on it and him and luffy clashing along with bigmom rampaging and still held the island in one piece
