Me headcanon for her not using Ryou and ACoC is that her ego doesn't allow her to use them due to Law/Kidd not having them in the first place. There's also this idea that perhaps Ryou/ACoC is much more taxing to her at this point.
Big mom is one of Oda's rare L imo. Putting big mom & kaido on the same arc is literally too strong to lose but kaido being the main villain he dodged the bad story bullet unlike bigmom who does questionable things & often out of her character established in whole cake island such as: 1. Not using soul pocus as much, like literally half of the strawhats would've already died if she uses her DF. 2. Random BS, Like mama mode that we didn't even see before. 3. Not using ACoC, literally kidd & law would look like fodder if she uses ACoC instead of spamming DF abilities I have many more complaints about bigmom's character in wano, such a wasted potential but what do you know we might see a hot linlin after falling in the lava lol

When we look at Wano and Whole Cake, Kaido is better than Big Mom in EVERY SINGLE CATEGORY you could think of. Anything Big Mom does, Kaido does better. The only thing I'd give her is raw physical strength. She is a menace there. It's a shame since her introduction up to the tea party was phenomenal. Her hunger attacks, her backstory of how a little child wrecked the entirety of Elban, only for her to turn into "Big Meme". Kaido is the only person I could see fighting Garp or Red hair. I agree. BM biggest pro is her durability which kaido can overpower with his acoc. He's faster than her, can deal more damage than her and can see the future. He will hit her harder and more times than she hits him.
The top 2 most durable characters in the series and in terms of physical strength these 2 are one of the strongest. Two of them together in one arc and they lost for the sake of the story😂 Thing is these 2 emperors are just overconfident, if only they went all-out from the beginning, whole alliance are 💀 The problem is all they want is entertainment. Anyways, in this arc Bigmom didn't show her full power and capabilities. The whole fight against Kid and Law was just her tanking all of their attacks.
The Big mom that we saw against kid and law isn't her full potential. She wasn't even knocked out by them . A bomb came from nowhere and she fell to lava. Oda just wanted to make her lose. But I can see her fighting in a near Kaido level if she uses advanced conq and sacrificed the rest of her life. The power she could get would be op . Specially because she stole alot of life spans so she has a lot of years to use. We saw the power of only 1 year. 10 years for example would be too strong.
Narrative is king though, so Big Mom gives Kaido at least a high diff fight. Most of her anti-feats can be chalked up to her being stupid and absent-minded and not taking her opponents seriously

Yeah, what azaru says checks out logically speaking. Although I only watch dub, Wano's narrative framing does suggest that Kaido is the more dominant party when they decide to align, but Big Mom is literally in his hood, so that's kind of a given. I think there could be a mistaking of durability and immovability. Big Mom often tanks hits, but gets moved physically, whereas Dragon Kaido is obviously quite a bit larger than Big Mom, and thus is simply harder to move. It's a bit like Lead and Steel. Lead is heavier than Steel, so it's harder to move, but it is not as strong as the Steel, and thus takes less effort to dent or deform. This might just be me, but from what I've seen Dragon Kaido is worse at taking hits than Human Kaido is. It could be that anatomically speaking, Human Kaido has an easier time defending his body and has less blind spots, superficially making Dragon Kaido's durability appear lower. For example, if Oden had tried to hit Paradise Totsuka on Human Form Kaido, he would have had a good chance of parrying the blow with his Kanabo. Swap Kaido with Big Mom here and it seems logically consistent that she would've just used her arm to block it with hardening. When Oden hit the move Dragon Kaido made no attempt to use Armament Hardening on his chest before receiving the blow, unless the Armament colour just doesn't show up on him and it is there? Either way, I'm basically trying to say that Human Kaido and Big Mom likely have close to equal durability, whilst Kaido's Dragon Form just has more blind spots. (He's not using those arms to block many attacks). The thing that makes Big Mom potentially better is the Soul Fruit and the Homies though, it blows the Dragon Fruit out of the water from what I've seen. Particularly, I think the moment when Big Mom creates Homies to pursue Nami and Carrot during Wano is what I'm basing this off. She can turn anything from the carpets your standing on to the doors you're certain you locked just a minute ago into enemies at any moment. She could be caught without her crew, in potentially hostile territory, and even missing Zeus (one of her main weapons) and still end up with an army in a matter of minutes. An Island like Wano is one thing, but imagine if she did this on a ship. She could easily turn the ship itself against the crew, and have it sail itself right over to her and the Sweet Commanders. It's just that Big Mom herself appears to lack the intelligence or desire to pull a trick like that. I still think that Kaido is likely to be slightly faster and probably substantially stronger than Big Mom. He's also more intelligent and logistically orientated than Big Mom as well. I think that if it was Big Mom with Prometheus and Zeus VS Kaido, that Kaido would win by the skin of his teeth. If it were a Big Mom Pirates VS Beast Pirates War, then I would say that the Beast Pirates would win most of the time. King could be argued to be better than or at least equal to Katakuri, and the only other Big Mom Pirates that might be close to Queen and Jack is Smoothie or Perospero, whereas I think King, Queen & Jack >>> the rest of the Big Mom Pirates. I think Beast Pirates also have more low level manpower? I don't know how many chess soldiers Big Mom could create, but the numbers of pirates in the Beast Pirates have always appeared to be higher IMO. I think that the Lead Performers and Tobi Roppo would likely defeat the Sweet Commanders and Officers well before Kaido and Big Mom have done much damage to each other, and then Kaido and Co would mob Big Mom until surrender or defeat.

Man Oda really did a poor job of handling Big mom. Why did he have her pull to Wano he should have just continued with the narrative of having Luffy coming back to defeat her. It seems like her coming to Wano was a last minute choice. Wano really is conflicting it's my favorite arc because Luffy growth was sort of nostalgic seeing him split the sky and all however there many things left unanswered and other things were just not handled well.
Luffy coming all the way back to WCI to fight BM was a bad set up tbh. A lot of backtracking for a fight that after Kaido has no real stakes. The real issue is her crew, as at least BM had a cool ringout.

I think buffed giant Big Mom (after eating one year of her own lifespan) got as strong as hybrid Kaido for that bit period of time atleast, but only strength wise. She still lacked BIQ, speed and haki feats compared to him.

And she was thrown out the island, I know it is a pirate fight, but neither Luffy nor Kaido will try to win like that. Speed isn't inconsistent These are just outliers...we see zoro blitzing flame on king in chapter 1022 but flame on king later was able to equally match zoro's combat speed and flame off mode perxeption blitz him So you can consider these as outliers

While Kaido's showings do seem to surpass Big Mom's when it comes to durability and raw combat, Big Mom hax is something else entirely. The only reason Kidd's Damned Punk managed to knock her off was because she couldn't use her fruit powers to suck the lifespan of the people nearby because Law used a room to silence her. Kidd was using his Damned Punk for a WHILE. This just goes to show how much hax regeneration Big Mom has, and even with Law silencing her, her durability remains top tier. If Kaido and Big mom were to fight with Big mom having access to people's lifespans to fully utilize her fruit, I think she could even outlast Kaido in a full-powered fight.

I would argue against the Durability stuff. She did not lose to Kid and Law, rather the explosives on Onigashima and finally the volcano itself. She even said their final attack did not finish her of. So after fighting all these chapters, she did not get defeated by her opponents own abilities really. And had she used Acoc, Kid and Law would've been crushed in minutes. Law especially just tanked way more in their fight than he ever did before (because plot convenience).
I literally only care about the narrative of the story, Oda doesn’t like Big Mom enough to give her the good feats so he does it through portrayal. Same goes for the fact that she used acoc against Kid and Law. Oda didn’t bother drawing it as it was obvious, also why would anyone use their lifespan before haki?

When do you think about their base powers? In terms of the devil fruits big Mom should be stronger, but for some reason isn’t and I think it goes back to your point on her battle IQ. Her devil fruit is much more versatile whereas Kayi does mostly provides unrivaled strength and durability. There is some versatility to it, and that he can transform and has a variety of breathing techniques, but in comparison to how big mom can manipulate elements the environment, living creatures, her own body and the life spans of others ultimately, I think if she was Cato‘s age, it would be a lot closer, and if her battle IQ was better, she could run circles around Kaido however, for narrative reasons big Mom had to be nervous because to emperors would be nearly unstoppable and we already had an art with big Mom previous to wano but also all the yonko have been caught slipping from time to time, and this goes into the one piece perception versus reality. White beard strongest man in the world may not have been the strongest man in the world when we knew him in the story and was prone to letting his compassion get the better of him, Blackbeard overestimate himself and get himself hurt due to this frequently. Yeah, what azaru says checks out logically speaking. Although I only watch dub, Wano's narrative framing does suggest that Kaido is the more dominant party when they decide to align, but Big Mom is literally in his hood, so that's kind of a given. I think there could be a mistaking of durability and immovability. Big Mom often tanks hits, but gets moved physically, whereas Dragon Kaido is obviously quite a bit larger than Big Mom, and thus is simply harder to move.
It's a bit like Lead and Steel. Lead is heavier than Steel, so it's harder to move, but it is not as strong as the Steel, and thus takes less effort to dent or deform. This might just be me, but from what I've seen Dragon Kaido is worse at taking hits than Human Kaido is. It could be that anatomically speaking, Human Kaido has an easier time defending his body and has less blind spots, superficially making Dragon Kaido's durability appear lower.
For example, if Oden had tried to hit Paradise Totsuka on Human Form Kaido, he would have had a good chance of parrying the blow with his Kanabo. Swap Kaido with Big Mom here and it seems logically consistent that she would've just used her arm to block it with hardening. When Oden hit the move Dragon Kaido made no attempt to use Armament Hardening on his chest before receiving the blow, unless the Armament colour just doesn't show up on him and it is there?
Either way, I'm basically trying to say that Human Kaido and Big Mom likely have close to equal durability, whilst Kaido's Dragon Form just has more blind spots. (He's not using those arms to block many attacks).
The thing that makes Big Mom potentially better is the Soul Fruit and the Homies though, it blows the Dragon Fruit out of the water from what I've seen. Particularly, I think the moment when Big Mom creates Homies to pursue Nami and Carrot during Wano is what I'm basing this off. She can turn anything from the carpets your standing on to the doors you're certain you locked just a minute ago into enemies at any moment.
She could be caught without her crew, in potentially hostile territory, and even missing Zeus (one of her main weapons) and still end up with an army in a matter of minutes.
An Island like Wano is one thing, but imagine if she did this on a ship. She could easily turn the ship itself against the crew, and have it sail itself right over to her and the Sweet Commanders. It's just that Big Mom herself appears to lack the intelligence or desire to pull a trick like that.
I still think that Kaido is likely to be slightly faster and probably substantially stronger than Big Mom. He's also more intelligent and logistically orientated than Big Mom as well. I think that if it was Big Mom with Prometheus and Zeus VS Kaido, that Kaido would win by the skin of his teeth.
If it were a Big Mom Pirates VS Beast Pirates War, then I would say that the Beast Pirates would win most of the time. King could be argued to be better than or at least equal to Katakuri, and the only other Big Mom Pirates that might be close to Queen and Jack is Smoothie or Perospero, whereas I think King, Queen & Jack >>> the rest of the Big Mom Pirates. I think Beast Pirates also have more low level manpower? I don't know how many chess soldiers Big Mom could create, but the numbers of pirates in the Beast Pirates have always appeared to be higher IMO.
I think that the Lead Performers and Tobi Roppo would likely defeat the Sweet Commanders and Officers well before Kaido and Big Mom have done much damage to each other, and then Kaido and Co would mob Big Mom until surrender or defeat.

Man Oda really did a poor job of handling Big mom. Why did he have her pull to Wano he should have just continued with the narrative of having Luffy coming back to defeat her. It seems like her coming to Wano was a last minute choice. Wano really is conflicting it's my favorite arc because Luffy growth was sort of nostalgic seeing him split the sky and all however there many things left unanswered and other things were just not handled well.
Luffy coming all the way back to WCI to fight BM was a bad set up tbh. A lot of backtracking for a fight that after Kaido has no real stakes.
The real issue is her crew, as at least BM had a cool ringout.

While Kaido's showings do seem to surpass Big Mom's when it comes to durability and raw combat, Big Mom hax is something else entirely. The only reason Kidd's Damned Punk managed to knock her off was because she couldn't use her fruit powers to suck the lifespan of the people nearby because Law used a room to silence her. Kidd was using his Damned Punk for a WHILE. This just goes to show how much hax regeneration Big Mom has, and even with Law silencing her, her durability remains top tier.

I would argue against the Durability stuff. She did not lose to Kid and Law, rather the explosives on Onigashima and finally the volcano itself. She even said their final attack did not finish her of. So after fighting all these chapters, she did not get defeated by her opponents own abilities really.
And had she used Acoc, Kid and Law would've been crushed in minutes. Law especially just tanked way more in their fight than he ever did before (because plot convenience).
She was legit ready for round 2 while they were exhausted

The only time was when Law was on top of her, and idk the exact reason why she didn’t but we do see instances of Kaido and Luffy sometimes not using acoc to punch as well.

When do you think about their base powers? In terms of the devil fruits big Mom should be stronger, but for some reason isn’t and I think it goes back to your point on her battle IQ. Her devil fruit is much more versatile whereas Kayi does mostly provides unrivaled strength and durability. There is some versatility to it, and that he can transform and has a variety of breathing techniques, but in comparison to how big mom can manipulate elements the environment, living creatures, her own body and the life spans of others ultimately, I think if she was Cato‘s age, it would be a lot closer, and if her battle IQ was better, she could run circles around Kaido however, for narrative reasons big Mom had to be nervous because to emperors would be nearly unstoppable and we already had an art with big Mom previous to wano but also all the yonko have been caught slipping from time to time, and this goes into the one piece perception versus reality. White beard strongest man in the world may not have been the strongest man in the world when we knew him in the story and was prone to letting his compassion get the better of him, Blackbeard overestimate himself and get himself hurt due to this frequently. Blackbear caught Shanks slipping before, and even with a Shank’s unrivaled haki the mountain bandits were able to slip him say what you want about him not being a strong as he is currently when Luffy was a kid he should’ve at least have the basics of observation and beginning to enter the yonko class I can’t think any examples for Kaido off the top of my head, other than the samurai plunging their blades onto him.
