Today there’s supposed to be a major homeless encampment, clean up in Culver City underneath the 405 on Venice Boulevard do a tragic circumstance they were not able to clean. I had the possibility to interview a couple homeless people about their situation Both men were really friendly and talk to me about homelessness.
The young man racking the garbage is a real hero in my book. He is trying so hard to make a difference. God bless is efforts. If I li ed there I would hire him in a minute.
These are your BEST type of videos GIV. Keep publishing from the “dark side” of LA. The world needs to see this. HOT TIP: include that first guy in your coming videos, people are definitely inspired by him. God bless from Norway.
Dark side of LA? This happens in every big city of the US and its one of the reasons i only stay in airbnbs and never at hotels while im there. I mean, you dont even see this in mexico or cuba! This is a national emergency and nothing is being done because reps and dems are too busy fighting each other (and their dumb followers too)
Yeah. Need to show to people in countries where immigrants originate! Do you want to come here?
@@mikehayne538 yes welcome me, especially if you’ve got a penthouse central LA🫶🏼😉
The guy raking the trash really seemed like a good guy that is battling alot mentally I pray he gets some good help you can tell he has a good heart just by the questions he was asking you.
so you're going to wish upon your magical wishing star that things improve. got it.
@@importonso while he does that what are you going to do since you’re doing so much more than he is ?? Explain your plan to end homelessness since you know everything??? Idk how him having empathy for them could have possibly triggered you ! Go to therapy weirdo
it's called drug addiction.
Giv! Thank you for posting this video. My great aunt lives in Culver City and is in her 80's. We live in AZ and I have been concerned because she has been telling us about the homeless encampments nearby. This video helped me to understand the severity in her area. You are just a few blocks away from her place. This is such problem, from people being homeless and in emotional and physical pain, to the impact to the city. I very much appreciate your videos.
Mike. I love when you interview people on the street. Especially that guy. He seems cool and normal. I pray for them. Some people don’t want help. They just want to be left alone
He seems like a liar, I guarantee he has been offered housing, they just don't want any responsibility.
"Normal" is a setting on a washing machine.
And how many American lives did you ruin before you realized we just want to be left alone?
NO, he is a junky that denies services. Those are sores on his face that he has scratched and created but cannot feel from the meth/fentanyl.
I would like to tell you how much I enjoy your videos! I live in Tennessee and I came to CA in January to visit the Hollywood area! I was so dissappointed. It breaks my heart to know people live this way! But whats more heartbreaking is that some of these ppl have really fallen on hardtTHe tiimes and this is how they have to live! Then all the millionaries living the way they do there and then some ppl live this way! The homeless ppl seem to be very humble! God Bless them!!! You are a kind person to give them kindness and encouragement!!!
It's so nice to see the updates and to see you treating these people with respect, I wouldn't except anything less from the GIV. Best of luck to them.
I am at a loss for words in this extremely sad situation. I am thankful to you GiV…for bringing light on this reality.
We really need to reinstitute the State mental asylums. They need to be institutionalized, housed, fed and rehabilitated. It’s awful to live that way, dangerous and sad.
And we need to change the laws & force it on some.
If they are forced to go to a hospital many will get jobs and housing. They are taking the easy way out. They don't want to work
I probably wouldn’t go that route… you would be amazed at how quickly ppl recover when they have the ability to get clean, have good food and housing and are treated with compassion. A number of privately run, well-organized tiny house developments have done this and are very successful. It can be done well. There are so many commercial and office spa es now empty that could be converted into apt. style housing.
Of course, i would also like to see commercial real estate improve too… some of both would be good.
Instead, the governments there take taxpayer money meant to help these people and squander it on bureaucracy and hotel rooms.
I hope that the young man who was trying to clean up his area near the motorhome is able to find a better situation for himself soon. He seems to have a well balanced mindset.
A very cheap apartment in LA is $1100. Move in is first, last and deposit so like $2700. It's tough to get off the streets.
One of the saddest things an American can ever see. Just speechless
California - Governor's office - claims the state has spent billions on the homeless. Clearly not a dollar for public housing. No apartments, just needles and boxes to collect needles, curbside sandwich delivery, alleged medical services, alleged legal services. All money for Democrat party comrades. Nothing for those left in tents.
YET, WE SEND $2 BILLION TO UKRAINE AND TRILLIONS TO EU ( EU HAS MEDICARE FOR ALL). THANKS TO THE USA TAXPAYERS
@@seymorefact4333 The vast majority of the aid that the US is giving to Ukraine is in materials, not cash.
@Risible1 LOL! You've been watching too much CNN, Fox, MSNBC, etc. The daughter of the Ukraine defense minister just bought a $7 million mansion in Paris! She's only 22! Zellensky wife went to Paris on a $800,000 shopping spree during the war. The Pentagon can't account can't account for billions of cash given to Ukraine. Ukraine voted the most corrupted country in the world since .... FOREVER! BUT, that's nothing compared to the billions congressmen is getting from American taxpayers via Ukraine money laundering.

I agree @sunsensational, I hope this guy gets the help he needs as he cares about cleaning up around where he is staying. Hats off to you GIV for always giving us the news, keep it up!!!!
This guy that you interviewed deserves at least an appointment to see a mental specialist 😔 he keeps busy by sweeping everywhere. I give him credit for trying to keep the area clean 💯👍🏽 thanks Mike for the report. It’s a sad situation for all these people 😔
The people you see sweeping are on meth.
They aren't doing it to clean up.
He keeps busy sweeping 😔 this guy is like when you go to your lazy aunt or sister's house and pretends to act like they actually live cleaner then this...😢😢
And other help like a job, place to stay etc.
This was eye opening, I hope that maybe you gave those folks a little help that provided you with such great content. Keep doing what you are doing and showing the world what they need to see about the folks they drive past on a regular basis...
GIV needs to do a road trip across America. He notices all kinds of things that Americans don’t. Maybe he could open people’s eyes to the amazing country we live in and all the problems we face both individually and collectively.
So sad to see this happening no one deserves this been homeless, that great guy sweeping up just telling the way it is👍 thanks GIV ❤
California should be ashamed for not taking care of this
I live in LA. We cant "take care of it" because judges constantly vote to uphold the rights of the homeless to live the way they want.
Not to mention these people come from all over, but it’s a California problem? Screw you hypocrite
@@bombaybeach208well I think if these homeless started setting up shop in these judges neighborhoods maybe they would change their tune

I live on Washington and Sawtelle and it’s even over here too. I feel so bad for them but I try not to cross under the 405 here because I’ve had bottles thrown at me. The other day, on Washington and National, a business woman or office worker was just minding her own business waiting to cross at the light when a homeless woman brutally attacked her from behind, clubbing her in the skull and pushing her into the street before continuing to assault her on the ground. I weaved around the traffic and threw my car into park w the hazards in the street the corner got out to help within a few seconds of the first punch. I honked loudly and shouted LEAVE HER THE F ALONE and jumped out to help. I got the homeless broads attention/distracted her enough to give the victim time to run into a fellow passerby woman/good samaritans car who helped her escape this madness. I was sure the lady was going to kick and damage my car but she then turned her violence and threats to me. Threatening my life, I called CCPD. I’m sure she will be released in 2 hours 😢
The GIV is pretty gracious with people !! Especially the guy at 9:00. He is good people !! I just prayed for him.
Well done Mike……showing us the real California 👍✌️🇺🇸
Politicians who receive our taxes for salary be evaluated twice a year. We give them a grade based on how well they have done their job. If the average is 90 percent they get 90 percent of their salary. If we give them a D they get 60 percent of their salary. It is insane that we pay they taxes to be the servants of the people and make us live with this crap. They have their mansions. They have their private drivers, planes and security. They are not held accountable at all for doing their job.
Great video. You’ve got chutzpah to visit this area, and muster the courage to speak with people (despite the danger). Hoping this video will help those individuals. The ones that spoke to you, most would be happy to offer them a respectable job and help them.
Love your content my man keep doing what you do 🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌
My heart is broken over what has happened to my old hood. I am now grateful I was choked in my home in 2019 and SMPD did nothing. I am happy I immigrated to the UK and for feeling so safe in my neighbourhood. Amen. 🇬🇧
Appreciate you bringing us reality Mike, as sad as it is.
👏As always, another stellar GIV media presentation. Thank you Mike, stay safe always!🙏👍
Yeah!! So happy to see another video FROM THE GIV!
To be honest, THE most heartbreaking scenes are the pets who are subjected to share in the BS decisions made by their humans. 💔💯
Every street pet should be housed with those who can care for them. (I would fight to the death to protect my Dog and two Cats. (2A and trained!)
I was going to say the same things about making your pet homeless. I am a devoted animal lover and just hate to see this. Did you notice the German Shepherd? He didn’t even raise his head. He has given up. My heart hurts for the animals and children 😢😢😢
@@Cheekylory YES, that doggie was my first thought simply because, like children, they have no way out, of their own volition.
Same! I would have my Border Collie and two Male cats stay with friends until I figured it out and carry that cross on my own until I rose again. 🙏
It’s horrible. It bothers me to the core
This is so devastating to watch and witness. I can’t imagine being stuck here and trying to live. This is what we call a developed country ? Time for some new leadership !
Leadership? No one is owed a home. The only thing g Leadership should be doing is make it illegal. I have no problem housing them in prison. Atleast they'd have a roof over their head, a toilet to piss in and 3 meals a day.
Because the nanny state is so effective.
@@jakleo337 The corporate welfare state is more the problem - the government gives handouts to rich people and corporations all the time.
Thank you greatly GIV for your videos sharing what life is currently like for our homeless humans who deserve so much more than just being tossed like trash to the side! Is is important to keep showing what is happening in the homeless community as NONE of the major media news channels even discuss this issue anymore. Keep the focus on this issue as you are definitely helping to hopefully generate action from those in power who could actually take action to help these folks!!
HI GIV your the best youtuber!!!, keep up the awesome work. I enjoy all of your content.

@@thatscool1550 Surveys of lots of homeless people (now "unhoused") in cities from Seattle to LA, from Portland to SF, show a lot of them don't want to conform to mainstream rules or basic social standards. IOW, a surprising high % of the homeless prefer a lifestyle that most people would judge as mean & miserable. Nothing kind, caring or compassionate about that either. Tolerating a Mad-Max environment is heartless. BTW, the city of SF for yrs has poured hundreds of millions of $ into dealing with their unhoused. I lived in that neighborhood from 2003 to 2014. My daughter when to Charnock elementary. Truly sad to see what happened to that neighborhood.
I was impressed that young guy was actually concerned about the lady he mentioned that has maggots from her wounds and helped by trying to clean up the area. Thank you for keeping us posted about these situations Mike🙏🏽
Mike looked stressed out by the end of this video. That is hard stuff to document. 😢
I stayed in Culver City when I first moved to LA. It was so different then. The homeless were only in Santa Monica. So sad to see this mess.
I don’t have an issue with homeless people or RV people.. I have an issue with trash, drugs, violence, theft, noise, fire, panhandling, and general lack of awareness.
The biggest issue is mental illness and addiction. But that’s not gonna be fixed on the street. They need to be in most cases forced into a mental institution…
I know it’s opening Pandora’s box of abuse. How many people will be called insane but are perfectly fine, they just made the wrong enemies. How hard will it be to get in and even harder out. How many will be permitted residents.
These are all questions no one wants to answer as we all have freedom of movement. Then the question of illegal immigrants.
Overall it’s past my pay scale to think about how this would work. All I know is they need to do something more then spend billions to none profits owned by family and friends that Benefit from it getting worse.
You don't have an issue with homeless or RV people ... who do you think is creating trash, drugs, violence, theft, noise, fire, panhandling, and general lack of awareness.
They need to build a huge MEGA PLEX like a, Tuff Shed Community in Nevada. Huge shaded areas covered by circus tent size pavilions. The State of residence of the applicants will pay 75% of the person upkeep. Then individual donations are to be sent to the Organization. All illegals found out, are to be housed for a maximum of 30 days, then flown to countries of origin, ONE WAY.
It's comes from being homeless. They not any different than you or me.. Just homeless.
Why not try giving them a dignified home first, then see if they are crazy or not?
Anyone who is forced to live on the streets will appear crazy, since the way they are treated is diabolical.
The Guy in the Mettalica shirt seems a good guy. Hopefully he can turn his life around for the better.
I really feel for them it hurts to see people living in those conditions thank you Mike for showing everyone around the world how horrible things are not just California but all over.
Most of these people are not "unfortunate" there's frequent fires, drugs, stolen property, shootings. One time somebody parked the car and walked up to shoot.
My town in Florida has homeless but its mostly in the woods. As I drive around I don't see this.

Hi, I like when you interview people on the street. I wish you would have asked a few more in-depth questions like what he majored in college in, what field does he want to go into and does he have family that he can live with. I'm genuinely curious about some of the back stories of these people and some of the obstacles facing the ones who seem to be normal and intelligent. Also, the lady behind him was quite willing to talk and you didn't really ask her any questions. I would have liked to have heard from her too! In future I'd love to see do some more in-depth interviews with the street people.
Sadly, these streets look just like streets in San José and Sacramento....same reasons....drugs, alcohol, mental illness, no work, no money, beggars from out of state, etc.
California is a magnet for this stuff. No brutal winters make it easier to survive. Billions and billions on the defense budget, but nothing for the citizens to get help. Just sad.
Tired of the no work excuse. There are more jobs than people right now.
I'm so sick of people saying it's mental illness. It's drug addiction and cost of living. Democrats are responsible for both of those.
@@adamclark9004The ones who say mental illness fail to mention the words drug induced before mental illness.

I watch homeless videos every week .I guess bc I don't ever want to forget.Ive been homeless a half dozen times .It took everything I have ,You have to move to an area that you can prosper, survive .& not on a street, camping in parks is way to go .That led to me finding others to get pd to clean parks that was 2003 , I now own my own trailer, 1 acre .That's what they need .
You were fortunate to possess both the desire and drive to work your way out of homelessness and change your life for the better. Sadly, many others are are unable to escape the vicious effects of substance abuse and/or mental disorders (or both). These people need meaningful assistance to get off drugs and better access to mental and/or physical health services. Then maybe they'll regain their hope for a better tomorrow and take concrete steps to change their life.
Very sad. I don’t even know if my brother is still alive. He used to be homeless on Venice Beach. He would walk around all day picking up aluminum and plastic recyclable bottles and cans and exchange them for money. He was a hard worker but a hard core alcoholic. The things that lead to homelessness will make anyone appear insane - most people can last a week or two living the homeless lifestyle before they crack, if that.
Just give 'em enough money to feed and house themselves, and then see if they still seem crazy. Some really are crazy, but many are just having normal human reactions to being traumatized and treated like garbage.

The lack of mental health care is staggering in America! 😢 So sad.
The real issue's are alcohol, drugs, plain laziness, and complete lack of personal responsibility, not mental illness. Although "mental illness" are the buzz words their "leadership" wants you to believe. Living off taxpayer's money, getting money for food, etc., and being allowed to commit crimes, is just enabling them. They create filth, expect someone else to clean it up, then create more. They've also learned how to act, becoming talking head's, just like the media, and that it's "showtime" any time someone point's a camera at them. If BS was a horse, the guy GIV was talking to, would be Secretariet.
Drugs
Like every 10 minutes pop out another homeless and are welcome. California agenda for more homeless and mental ill making sure California unaffordable to ton of Californians.
Yes, California ton of homeless became sinners as even being needy create Karma.
In California where the non-profit organizations LAHSA pocket ton of money and making more money and became a drug society housing druggies not family or vets.
In additional to, California Homeless Healthcare organization giving away free drugs including meth pipe for the homeless to become drug dealers selling those drug to citizens while traveling to other States and back since the mental ill and homeless get free government bus pass and metrolink access.
All of this drugs and non-profit organizations pay for by California tax payers and there voting right to help the homeless and mental ill in California.
It pure evil and demon as these drugs make people addicted abusive insane unable to help and save themselves but rejected by society and more and more druggies are spreading like rapid fire.
The worst yet to come more and more Migrants coming over to California to spread the drugs furture back to there States and all.
I lived in that area in the 90s. The homeless situation was nowhere near this bad in those days. What a shame.
I agree - SM Venice CC always had sketchy areas day or night but not submerged
everywhere ....way worse than 20+ yrs ago
The Valley's not any better while local state liar politicians vote for me to end homelessness so full of shit
When I was a kid in school. We had to collect money for the kids in Ethiopië.
Now I am 46 years old. And my own kid was doing a dancemarathon at his school also to collect money for the children in Ethiopië.
Its almost 35 years later.
My point is it will not help and only get worse. ALSO with all those homeless people.
No one can change this.
There are millions and millions and millions of people who live like this.
It is sad.😢
i have done that before as long as there is a crisis someone is making money off of it if theywerent they would require them to work if they are health and put in jail to get them off teh drugs and nutrtion then put to work, you better believe it. someone is making money off of this homelessness problem not sure who but they are and this is why it never gets better.
I used to live really close by around Venice Blvd and Motor Ave further up from that 7/11 store in 2008 … it’s really sad to see the homeless situation to be so messed up now 😢 it’s a shame to know the vibe is all gone !
It seems the people that talked with you kind of warmed up a notch. Seems there could be a solution to help these folks. Like the lottery or go fund me things, if a management structure could exist, maybe on a 501c basis, not much money could at least keep it clean. And like the one guy said, maybe a couple trained "primers" can open hearts. Nothing saying a group therapy/mental health session/miracle can't happen right there. Thanks for covering GiV. Unfortunately this is just one drop in the ocean. 😭
It's so sad. Especially seeing so many young people living like this. Matt seemed like a nice guy. And also the other couple you spoke to.
Red biohazard bin is for used needles, they’re popping up all over CA.
I genuinely believe that every adult should spend a night on the streets. I'm not talking alcohol or drugs and I'm definitely not suggesting you go to the nastiest part of town, but it definitely makes you appreciate a warm, safe roof over your head. One of the toughest homekess stories I read was a guy in London who had little beyond the clothes on his back and he said that the key to survival was to keep moving at night and try to sleep during the day. Sleep deprivation amplifies every negative experience - little wonder so many homeless people end their lives.
Almost like in my country, Philippines😢😢😢
It's worse. they're really angry here. Philippines the tambays are much more friendly
You can love it or you can hate it but this is the content that made you famous........
These videos are important. This is one of the few sources of genuine information. This isn’t available anywhere else. I just wish there was someone that would do this for Kensington, Philadelphia.
There’s a few, ‘Morals over Money’ is the only one that comes to mind..
