I've never played Payday 3 with a controller so I'm not sure. The build relies on killing enemies to maintain your armor, so I'm not sure if it would function as well. I think it'll probably still be good, it'll just take some getting used to. The smoke grenades should help prevent a lot of damage from coming in and give controller players more time to strategize.
