Agromax makes a 75)25 % UVA - uvb and It sincerely seemed to strengthen the branches and reduced toppling from weight.. I've not had to trellis when I wasn't trying too. I also noticed more trichomes after starting to use it in bursts .. terpene production seemed to raise as well . Using the same white LEDs and the same strains same soil and I say 4× 20 minute bursts per 12 hr cycle helps
I swear it makes more trichs (or at least a more frosty appearance) but I've never seen any science on that. What I do think is established is that it increases terps, through stress.
And then there is the genetics of the seed from what part of the world and temperatures aren’t the same and I would assume light would differ a little as would nutrients in water - wind ect

Ahh I remember the first Apollo led lights from China 15 years ago, I had tested 4 different models that mounted 10 round modules with about 17 leds each, 3 lamps had only 1 UV led and 1 IR led for each module while the third mounted 2 UV and 2 IR for each module, with the one with the 2 UV leds we noticed several burns on the leaves in direct contact with the light, but at the time unfortunately we had not cloned so we were not sure that it was due to the UV, but now I am seriously starting to believe that they were for that reason, taking into account that with the other 3 lamps identical in everything except for the double UV and IR leds the burns did not occur!

@@sloopycat1954 It depends on a lot of stuff. Seeing you're a beginner I'd simply suggest going with a cheap Amazon LED. Don't put much thought into lighting, it's the least of your worries as almost any grow light will produce.
Gh4cv I have already have in possession HID lights, obviously the lights that become very warm and difficult to control the Heat, I'm based in the UK and was wondering if anyone can recommend LED lights that omit less heat or has technology not improved and HID lights that become warm are still the ones to use, I will purchase a cheap light from Amazon etc but can you help me for the future with my questions thankyou.
@@sloopycat1954 I don't know anything about your grow so I can only give basic advice. HIDs are still supreme. The only way I'd switch to LED is if I couldn't control the heat. It is not that hard to control the heat with proper air circulation. With that said there's nothing wrong with LEDs. If you're trying to keep it simple get LEDs. The difference in plant yield is too small to worry about. Don't buy an expensive LED setup unless you want to blow money. Cheap LED grow lights work very well. LED lights are a money making machine, don't fall prey to gimmics like PAR meters, you just need a light and timer.
@@sloopycat1954 I'm in UK, have you considered putting the HID in an air cooled reflector or cheap cool tube? The good thing about them is they fit into the existing ventilation system and the heat is mostly pumped out into the room it's in making it a pretty good heater too. I have a tent in my front room just for heating.
Besides that it is not good for you to smoke weed the best grow lights/panels are made in Holland. You can get 70 watts panels there that works very good. Two of them will handle 4 - 6 plants easy so not only are they very good but the run supercheap too.

I know he is the professional and I do acknowledge that he is probably right lol The hood science has taught me when I build a light with full spectrum with no UV, and then build the exact same set up ballast everything, but add uv you can see the difference Can I prove it scientifically absolutely not, but visually it’s undeniable in my opinion, at least. Even if you switched the lights mid flower, you can see the transformation from one tent to the other. But,like I said, i’m definitely no scientist just a smoker :) Hell I’ll probably just take his class

We have an issue with the discussion around Cannabis as a single genotype. Depending on genome, the plant reacts differently, phenotype expression, light, air, water, pressure, air density, and a few others. The science is still in its infancy as it’s not legal federally. No research grants, etc. Science is a method of observation, recording that we can repeat. There is no mystery. Dr. Bugbee said he can’t work on high THC cultivars. The devil is in the details. That’s science vs. bro talk that is meaningless. It’s a human nature thing about belief 😂
The addition of UV is providing additional light in general. So now switch the UV for white light and you'll get even better results. That's how you prove it scientifically. :)
@@Tara-Mayayeah i was also thinking like "yeah you provide extra light, ofc there's gonna be more growth" To actually prove your effect you'd need to reduce the rest of the LEDs by the ppfd added by the UV or add non-UV in the same strength to the other tent. It's not comparable how you've done it

Conflicting info from Bruce around 25:00 concerning UV usage. It seems he thinks the conversation is about UV LEDs and their ineffectiveness? He is not talking about UVB bulbs, which he does recommend using, and has given specific usage instructions for; use in the last 2 weeks of flower, 30 mins when the lights are on, and increase by 30 mins each light cycle until leaf burn, then pull back 30 mins. Also check his video "How Ultraviolet Radiation Affects Plants with Dr. Bruce Bugbee". Using UVB in this manner will increase terpene production, noticeable in the main terpenes of a given strain.
@@Tara-Maya Wait what? That UVb info is old old, predates the lighter usage of UVb that started around maybe 2012 where 15 minutes twice a day was the max amount of time to run UVb in the last two weeks. Or maybe he ment a grand total of 30 minutes a day? Increasing UVb by 30 minutes is insane! Gurantee to fry the plants. Can you imagine 1 hour under a UVb bulb?!? Personally I feel UVb is unneeded even if your using LEDs. But if someone wants to ufck around I'd suggest 15 minutes 6 hours after the lights come on and that's it! Assuming of course they're using a genuine UVb bulb...now I'm wondering is Bugbee was using a fake or low quality UV light lol, wouldn't that be something.

turn the light to high and that stresses the plant and then you get spider mites, indoor standard to use is HPS lights, 400 watts in a 3x3 tent 2 feet from top of plants , 600 watt 4x4 at 3 feet from top of plant minimum , 1000 watt lights HPS lights in a 5x5 space at minimum 4 feet from the top of plants , the moment you go over 100 percent light is too much, when you go over 100 percent nutrients you kill the plant, too much water kills the plants, over-vegg in the wrong pot size is another problem, these professors are not growers, and over analyze, after listening to these guys speak will not make anyone a better grower, when we switched to LED light how high to hang the light, and how many watts and size space changed, use the HPS standards and find the equivalent when using LED lights , 3 or 4 five gallon pots in a 3x3 , 6 five gallon pots in a 4x4 grow tent , 10 to 12 5 gallon pots in a 5x5 grow tent all around 4 to 5 week veg in a trellis. keep the plants spread out and low under the light like a sea of green..

How did I not find this one sooner. Gotta watch this later when I'm in "the zone".
Lets goooo from whittier ca love the show!!! Love watching bruce on any channel
What about putting a few candles in your lung room. I saw micro test one in a tent but what about the lung room?
Migro lol😂
Why?
I'm down in Sonoran desert they take This sun. 💧 ❤
I be Using red light for a Min. To supplement my main bordlight. I have long branches and fat buds. I have a red light bottom up. I don't use UV.
“ayye right on mann” scottys so funny🤣
What is a good way to see in dark to spary plants? I used smal green but went to a little candle now. Does this affect photo periods?
And then there is the genetics of the seed from what part of the world and temperatures aren’t the same and I would assume light would differ a little as would nutrients in water - wind ect
Very informative video for beginners and scientist! Stay a while and listen.
Because its common, it doesnt mean its correct (Source: "quote" Dr. Bruce Bugbee - 25.12.2021)
What's with Scott getting testy about UV-a-b being proven to not do anything. It's weird how emotional people get about facts.
Light is radiation measuring it and understanding how it's absorbed and dispersed is essential for Epic cannabinoids, terpenes, and flavanoids .
Explore the Emerson Effect!
Rocking interview!
They also found out that light can behave like a fluid too, not just wave and particles! Really crazy subject.
Dr Bruce B rocks
Hit the 👍
Don’t question the master about uv Scotty 😆
Dr. Bugbee doesn't shop for grow lights, so he's not influenced by the marketing. Yall do, and yall are.
I’m ready to learn
Is light a partial that travels through ether making a wave?
Im a first time grower I realy need grow lights bad but I'm still trying to make them lady's grow
Whoa super cool thx guys🤙🍻💨
Can someone please tell me what the secrets are of lighting. Can someone tell me if hid lights the ones that get very hot are better than low heat LED lights please, I need to grow a few plants for medicinal reasons, please anyone if your knowledgeable thankyou. Great video thankyou.
No grow light secrets..they just come out with a new one and try to make yall buy another every 3 months like iphones
@@EricCheetoh Hahaha yeah, they've been r&d LEDs since 2005 and have gotten nowhere.
I don't think so.
Can UV kill bugs on plants? 🤔
Heard about this dude through Alex Blazer and Mr. Growit 🏆
Buggy is a Legend😊
Love watching at the time with limited budget thanks to my ex I brought 3 spider farm lights se7000 se4500 sf 2000 what can I do to improve these without buying all new lights they work well but maybe ad up light bars anything to improve triconnes
@GregDunne-zf2ep just get good genetics and grow the plant well and you will produce trichomes. Your lights are more than enough to grow some fire bud
I know he is the professional and I do acknowledge that he is probably right lol The hood science has taught me when I build a light with full spectrum with no UV, and then build the exact same set up ballast everything, but add uv you can see the difference
Can I prove it scientifically absolutely not, but visually it’s undeniable in my opinion, at least. Even if you switched the lights mid flower, you can see the transformation from one tent to the other. But,like I said, i’m definitely no scientist just a smoker :)
Hell I’ll probably just take his class
Uh you and us true OGs are ahead of them. They’re here to “help”
As long as the funding $$ is there. Well when you turn down funding or lose it you go for private $$ tho. These guys and Shane at Migro are both conflicted for the real oil farmer.
@@Tara-Mayayeah i was also thinking like "yeah you provide extra light, ofc there's gonna be more growth"
To actually prove your effect you'd need to reduce the rest of the LEDs by the ppfd added by the UV or add non-UV in the same strength to the other tent. It's not comparable how you've done it
@@Tara-Mayahi! Not easy to find LEDs panels without added UV and IR plus a mix of 3000°k and 5000°k...I had to go on alibaba to have 60w QB's with lm301h EVO diodes 3500°k only for my flowering tent and 4000°k for veg...I have 1 like this over each sq/ft @30w and get 2gpw from it on average in living soil! Way enough for me
At what point in an autoflowers life span does spectrum not matter for morphology?
Scotty does Dr Bugbee's confidence in a rapid light increase post flip via managing other inputs (water/co2) make you want to give it another try?
No it burns my plants every time. Tried it again last week.
@@ScottyReal420 Interesting .. I guess he was describing pulse feeding with instant/precise shot size adjustment .. could the uptake increase rate be too slow in other types of systems to accommodate the instant 1/3 PPFD jump?
It’s possible too that Bruce is stating that the use of UV has no effect on the production of cannabinoids.
Could yous guys tell Mr Bruce if he ever considered or knew about atmospheric grow like Japan’s 85 expo , and the effect on cannabis
Hell yeah Bruce Bugbee!
Bought a new expensive light?
Did you kept the receipt ;)
Can you use green light leds from Christmas lights to enhance with a lower canopy lighting?
NASA funded Grow Data ! would love to look at that info !
@@CannabisVibe My guy! You would be PISSED! NASA isn't a grow business so they wouldn't push unneeded products. You'd get the bare bones of growing, the way it should be.
I bet this dude grows some fire 🔥
Blue may be more energetic but red paces itself and runs farther
Got a question pro, can a person mix a indica or possibly a ruderalis 4 da height & time it takes 2 harvest in a strain in da making with out any of its characteristics like 4 instance like old school Dro witch means a Sensi Star mix dat means or just but with a sinsemilla Bubba Kush where u only taste and da harshness of with a Hindu Kush 2 keep resistance or plant not bud n make it a better plant over all. But in my Land Raise where mines is Michoacan there should b n where I want 2 mix with Gorilla Glue #4 for what it does but could b a good blend but not indoor although da hight where it could b a good thing tho idk maybe not since I like da green house concept full ur bucket with branches of good superior bud structure. N where it would b a good move would b in a GMO bcz of da Chemdog signature toke on a Wedding Cake flash smell n gas exhale with a King Tut dats where fuck it all in u here u there in hight then smells plus
Dr. Bruce Bugbee, thank you a lot for sharing your knowledge, i cant get enough of it. Highest value knowledge. 👍
@DudeGrows34 Oh, what does that mean?^^
Woo let's get it. Finally someone on this show that really knows something
What?!?! They're both still learning how to grow lol.
He has back tracked on his own findings to many times over the years. I know what I do works and what he says tends to not be as beneficial
Very smart guy
They say people & their dogs look alike, it’s definitely true lol
I want some green lights to beef up some larf. I've been looking for a min.
No one can say Scotty interrupted on this one. He let Dr. Bugbee speak throughout the show. Great job Scotty. Lots of information on this one, and I need to look into more.
he constantly interrupted with nonsense, and his own variant of Beavis and Butthead style grunts and growls
Yeah I'm getting beat up on this one... People seem to forget I'm a person sometimes. It's all good.
I think U.V. improves the quality of the high
Think all you like.
U.V. a could increase production of
different kinds, or components of T.H.C.
Or a new substance that there are no test
for yet. The high could be more potent, or
have a more creativity enhancing effect
Which is subjective to the judgemental and
Perceptions of the one smoking the herb
and compering the effects of non U.V.
grown and U . V. grown clones same
everything except one pla t grown with
the addition of U.V.
You just made a claim that is impossible to ever detect.
another day at the park . lighting the Unkown frontier !!
Looking forward to seeing how you're going to out-research to doctor without the facilities!!
Photons go on forever as far as we know unless they interact with something.photons are not particles they are bundles of energy
turn the light to high and that stresses the plant and then you get spider mites, indoor standard to use is HPS lights, 400 watts in a 3x3 tent 2 feet from top of plants , 600 watt 4x4 at 3 feet from top of plant minimum , 1000 watt lights HPS lights in a 5x5 space at minimum 4 feet from the top of plants , the moment you go over 100 percent light is too much, when you go over 100 percent nutrients you kill the plant, too much water kills the plants, over-vegg in the wrong pot size is another problem, these professors are not growers, and over analyze, after listening to these guys speak will not make anyone a better grower, when we switched to LED light how high to hang the light, and how many watts and size space changed, use the HPS standards and find the equivalent when using LED lights , 3 or 4 five gallon pots in a 3x3 , 6 five gallon pots in a 4x4 grow tent , 10 to 12 5 gallon pots in a 5x5 grow tent all around 4 to 5 week veg in a trellis. keep the plants spread out and low under the light like a sea of green..
Is the dog a shorty bull?
whats the difference between genus and stupid genus has it limitations
Genus (/ˈdʒiːnəs/ pl.: genera /ˈdʒɛnərə/) is a taxonomic rank above species and below family as used in the biological classification of living and fossil organisms as well as viruses.[1] In binomial nomenclature, the genus name forms the first part of the binomial species name for each species within the genus.
Way to go genius...
And yeah there’s a huge diff in the CBD plants and the THC. I can see that from seed germination to pops through seedling and flower the CBDs been way less vigorous. Germ rates much lower. This is across 7 diff breeders. Got some that I run their traditional THC strains and not the same issues. It’s something about the newer CBD breeding that’s not all the way there. It’s across the board mostly.
Great interview with the Dr. asked him good solid questions. Would have like to hear him get into some nutrients, I seen him talking about cutting nitrogen in flower or lowering it? It’s some interesting things he was working on right now.
