As someone who has attended a number of Indy 500's and worked traffic control at Indiana Basketball games, here is the difference: The Indy 500 500k number comes from seats and infield, with a little over 300k for the stands, which go over much of a 2.5 mile track. Food and drinks can be brought in, which assists in feeding them. Also, parking occurs in people's yards for over a mile in any direction from the track. The basketball games occur in a relatively small town, where most roads around Assembly Hall are two lane roads, so that's why traffic is absolutely atrocious for about an hour before and after any given game.
Uncle Chael, have to disagree on this one. Indy motor speedway has over 250K permanent seats and including standing room has in fact held around 400K people.
The speedway is 20+acres Michigan's field is 2 lol. It's really not so complicated people need to just Google the stadium. I appreciate the excellent trolling from Chapel tho

Now I'm wondering if I really had that BLT for lunch while ago or if that was just a glitch in the matrix also. Thanks for Smartening me up uncle Chael!
Chael, we sat at the infield this weekend. It’s so damn real. I’m from Indiana, UA-cam Indy 500 from a vantage point from the sky and most people bring their own food in, we did. Most people bring in grills and all their own beer because beer is 8.25 at the concessions. Also, the 500 is Indycar, we’ve hosted many different types of racing. NASCAR, moto GP. There is a golf course there. It’s not just the 500 and the brickyard
I purposely avoid any title with MacGregor in it and still end up hearing about him on every fucking video no matter the title. Is this the opposite of click bait? Is chael trolling me on a personal level? Is this life a simulation? How does Kevin Lee fit into all of this? Is fake news a very real thing? The only certainty I have left in life, is that Chael has the Largest arms in West Linn Oregon. 😳
Chael I'm from Indy. Have been to the Indy 500 multiple times. It's held at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The speedway has a 257,000 seat capacity. This include luxury sweets, lawn seating and bleachers. Indy 500 and Brickyard 500 which is the actual name of the Nascar race in Indy. When held the city does know what its doing and there is a designated area of the city near and around the track that has traffic closed down and routed specifically to allow everything to flow. Everyone living in the area and from Indy knows during race time what the area will be like. So if you are not going to the track for race festivities or live in the shutdown zone you avoid driving in the area on purpose and plan a different route during race time. The track is on the west side of the city and can be avoided if necessary. It does shutdown an entire area just not the entire city. The track can hold up to 300,000 people just not actual seats for everyone.
Hey neighbor, im from Illinois. About 2 hours away from Terra haute. Never been to indy 500 but been the Kentucky derby a couple times. I watch nascar but neve been to indy 500 because its too busy.
After doing a little research on this Chael, I’m pretty confident your buddy Reese is right on this one. There’s 2 miles worth of stands that were full. Some places on the inside and outside of the track. Plus people in fields. Also, it did shut down many streets. What you say makes sense, but the track has to report ticket sales. I don’t think they’ll report 200k extra ticket sales. Also, this isn’t NASCAR buddy. It’s Indy car.
@@StuffAndMemes oh, ok sorry. I had no idea that you and Chael knew the sure answer for everything. Could you send me your email so I can ask you anything I need to know to make it easier from now on ?
I got myself into some trouble once at a party (it was for a UFC event actually, lol)... I made a comment that Nascar is not a sport, because they are sitting the entire time and "just turning a wheel." I then took it one step further and said "they could be eating a sandwich in there for all we know...". I highly offended some guy I didn't know at all. Luckily over a few beers we got past it and were laughing about it later. But he was NOT pleased with me for a few hours, as a huge Nascar fan. Haha.
I barely call football a sport anymore. They spend hours just standing around with their hands on their hips, and there's maybe 5 minutes of actual action. In person, an NFL game might be the most boring sport in existence. The TV medium saves it because instead of watching players stand around for hours, they replace it with commercials.

Indianapolis Motor Speedway’s capacity is 257,327 (permanent seats) - 400,000 grand total depending upon seating configuration. No shit. If you’ve ever been there it’s breathtaking how insanely massive it is. For context, Charlotte Motor Speedway (I was just there two days ago) seats up to 174k and it’s breathtakingly massive. They have removed some 200K seats due to the decline in popularity. NASCAR and other race related stuff once employed like 70 to 80% of Concord, NC, where the Charlotte MS is (13 miles outside Charlotte.) It’s a colossal structure and is dwarfed by the track in Indianapolis. I don’t care of hate cars, racing, or hot dogs, you will feel tiny and amazed just driving around it. We’re talking about stands that wrap around over a mile of race track. It’s truly astounding They use these tracks every weekend btw. NASCAR ain’t the only game in town using the track. NASCAR doesn’t own the tracks. Chael should know that the UFC doesn’t own the venues he performed in. Give me a break. Buy a ticket and go check it out
Chael your truly one of the smartest people I listen to on a regular basis and I'm by no means sticking up for Nascar or your friend BUT there is an infield audience at those races with campers, rvs, etc. They bring in their own hotdogs lol
That's why i was saying Nascar and indy is BYOB. Also YT the snakepit at indy. 50k to 100k people easy. Prob more. Sebring has a huge non Nascar event. It's crazy. Im not a Nascar fan but I like racing and Sebring was awesome. I've been to Daytona aswell. But mainly just Loudon speedway. People love watching cars turn left. Lol. Also just look at the seating chart online it's real easy to see how many seats there are.
Chael over here looking like he's in the original Tapout/Affliction Era with that shirt. All you need is a baseball hat turned 45 degrees and your right back in it bud.
Couldn’t agree more with you Chael on the mayweather McGregor fight. I was only 15 at the time and even I could tell that it was one sided for 30 minutes. Yeh, mayweather beat him right back and won, but the rewrite that it was some sort of joke is truly sad.

I believe it's about 225,000 fans per Daytona 500 and they use that track many many times per year. The 500 is the super bowl of racing so yes its a huge event. I went to it and it's absolutely nuts how many people are there. The president usually goes if that says anything about it
I truly hope this agreement took place and if it did I know without a dealt your friend was pissed off and then by the end of the argument he realized you was correct 😂🤣😂
Half a million people came to Vegas the year that the NBA All Star weekend was there and it never happened again because the city couldn’t take it. Vegas!
I'm from breed and live in Indianapolis. there's every bit 350k going through those Gates at the Indy 500 and it takes thousands of people and weeks to clean up after the biggest spectacle in auto racing
The stadium seating can sit 250k people and the inside grass can fit 250k people in campers. Not to mention a semi truck weighs 20k lbs, plus the weight of the trailer is let's say 5k lbs. They can tow 80k lbs, which comes out to ~ 55k lbs. 2 or 3 semitrucks of hotdogs seems a bit more easy to bring in and than 75 f350s
Chael have you ever drove into a corner at 240 mph? Indy cars drivers do for 500 miles straight. My dad drove late model stock cars for 30 years.. He let me go out and practice in the car sometimes. Its not easy to do. It takes alot of skill. Go try it bud..racing isn't scripted. Maybe attendance is exaggerated but not to the extent you think. Love your videos..you got a gift for speech. Your probably the best commentator I've ever heard.
The biggest difference with nascar and other sports is that you can bring a cooler in with your own food and drinks so the hotdog debate has no merit. Indy can hold I believe up to 400,000 but thats including the infield that doesn't mean that many people acually come. Also my two favorite sports nascar and mma
Six years later, in 2016, the race celebrated its 100th running with about 350,000 in attendance.[41] HI chael, thats from wikipedia, as for seats, its a 2.5 mile track, not a football field of 100 yards.
13200 ft you got about 44 football field. But even during covid they had 150000 ish. And this year they are expecting 375,000. Also chael said its fake. I ask the bad guy to learn about racing. It's not the fastest car that wins these races.so many factors that play into it. Also I'm sure he has enough to actually drive a race car for a day. It takes a hell of alot to control cars going 200 ish on the big tracks. Plus the physical endurance Chael study why it's a sport and give them actual credit. They put their life on the line just as yall do. It's a hell of a workout. Just like mma. Takes time and skill and alot of learning just as mma. Plus you get into wrecks at that speed your getting fucked up. Sometimes a few times a year
Also most tracks are in the middle of no where so they can get parking typically out in a field. I've been to Loudon NH and I think it's a 1.058 miles long and it's huge
@@williamkissinger3164 the Indianapolis motor speedway is within the loop of indy and it's a huge pain in the ass on race day. Probably the worst out of all of them.
@@delbomb3131 I thought Bristol or Daytona would be the worst. All I seen was a big field with cars. I use to be into racing until dale died. Once Jr retired I stopped watching. But they all are pros and racing is an extremely difficult sport. He compared it to WWE. Which even though that is scripted. You still need to be athletic and talented as well as brave to do it. But he said racing rigged. Ain't no way
lol. Actually that truck can tow up to 45klbs so that bites into the hotdog number a little more than 2k lbs. Also, turns out the track has about 257k permanent seats, and up to 400k with additional temporary seating. It doesn’t sell out though
After watching this whole video, when I have absolutely no interest in NASCAR, I'm confident in saying it's our Uncle Chael himself who just took out the garbage! What a guy. Never lost an argument.
This is a poorly thought out conspiracy, just to start out. 1. Attendance numbers are always lies. 2. Your F 250 may only carry 2 tons, maybe check the towing capacity its probably closer to 20,000 pounds.
The coke 600 was one of the best races I’ve seen and I’ve grown up on it since ‘95. Chael, it’s real but your also right in saying it isn’t. Especially this year they have forced “overtime” 2 lap shootouts all but two races, they throw cautions so the field of cars bunch back up, so yes they do things like wwe but overall it’s real
Indianapolis Motor Speedway has over 250,000 seats, and has a capacity for well over 300,000. Yes there has been over 300,000 people in Speedway IN for the 500. And yes it takes all week to clean up. Use to live across from track back in mid 90's BIG 4 day party
Well maybe Reese isn’t quite right, IMS Is the largest sports venue in the world with 257k permanent seats and more non permanent seating on the infield. They claimed 325k spectators this year, if that’s the number of tickets sold there has to be a percentage of people that didn’t show. Being at as many Motorsport events and seeing some of the most insane numbers of people at them. I could easily see 250k-300k. In fact I’d be very surprised if it was less than 250k
Cheal is literally "uncle cheal" i could totally see this argument around the dinner table. Man can this guy not only argue but tell a story Bravo sir 👏
Uncle Chael: Indianapolis Motor Speedway can hold up to 257,325, according to a 2004 study by the Indianapolis Star, though more than 400,000 people have been able to see the race live with temporary seating that is put up for the race. I have attended the race more than 15 times in my life and I can assure you that I have never seen so many people at one event. Additionally, the stands are NOT down one side of the track. The track itself is roughly 2.5 miles in the shape of an oval and it has stands around most of it and in addition there is an infield that hold thousands of people that come in on an "infield pass" to watch the concert and race that will be on that day. And YES the roads are shut down...there are police and blockades everywhere. EDIT: you can bring in coolers, food, beverages. I NEVER buy the overpriced concessions. I take fried chicken and water. The race itself is roughly 3 hours and the fastest it has been completed is 2 hours 37 minutes. EDIT 2: Cash is not accepted for most purchases at the event. The men's bathrooms are are outfitted with horse troughs to piss in for efficiencies. there are food and merchandise vendors every 50 feet. I'm all about the fact that there is fake news, but maybe you should attend the event and then speak on it.
Indianapolis Motor Speedway -- a 2.5 mile long oval that is so large it encloses an 18-hole golf course and has a permanent seating capacity of 257,325 -- the highest-capacity sports venue in the world.
It might not be 500,000 people that can be seated At the track itself, but there is also seating in the infield. I know for a fact most people go for the party surrounding the race , and don’t attend the race itself. It probably brings at least 100,000 tourists to town total, over Memorial Day weekend . But I’m just guessing
I was in the military and I drove home during the 500. I couldn't find a hotel in a 3 - 4 hour window. I had no idea what was going on so I finally adked and I was told I wouldn't find a hotel within 300 miles or something ridiculous like that. I slept in my car in a hotel parking lot. So needless to say ....yeah there were definitely a lot of people more then 20,000 ...but im not sure if there were 300,000
Who ever told you it was 500,000 people was wrong, however I was there and there was over 350, 000 people there. Indy is a 2 and a half mile track w/ grandstands around 3/4th of the track. You can put almost 300,000 in those grandstands over 50, 000 in the infield. Indy is a huge arena. And yes there was 350, 000 people there! With the staff (ie people serving all those hot dogs, safety personnel, track workers crews, transporters etc, you had close to 400,000 people there in total. The 2 straight aways are 5/8th of a mile long! It is a huge event. So you are right there was not 500 000 people there however there was over 350,000 people there. Nascar does not sanction the 500 Indycar sanctions the Indy 500. And yes Chael they are athletes in case you doubted that. If you doubt me take a tide in the 2 seater indycar w/ Mario Andretti sometime, I dare you! Ps love the podcast.
Couple issues with Chaels logic here. Firstly he completely misrepresents the size/length of the Indy 500 (not nascar) and says it’s “one row” This video proves otherwise ua-cam.com/video/RbeF0jWWylI/v-deo.html Secondly, with his whole hotdog spiel he tries to make the numbers/situation appear mote absurd then they really are assuming that everyone in a 350K arena would buy a hotdog which is far from true. Third, 75 of Chaels truck supplying hotdogs isn’t that much of a stretch at all for a major sporting event, this doesn’t take into account that the suppliers would use semi trucks with towing capacities that far exceed that of Chaels truck. Lastly, weeks of preparation go into a sporting event of this size, on top of that, days/weeks are spent cleaning and returning the venue to normal. I forgot to mention that the NFL, MLB and NBA all have hotdog sales comparable to that of what Chael asserted were fake/ridiculous numbers.
I’m learning a lot today. I didn’t know these companies use F250’s to transport hot dogs. And I didn’t realize not that many people have cell phones with square on them. By the way, after all the posts I’ve made ripping Quale, I don’t believe the 300,000 number either lol

Half way through the video I still have no idea what the hell he's talking about but I can't stop listening. Damnit Chael
Same but towards the end I was a little annoyed.. like wtf is he talking about. Half the things he says is nonsense
@@mikeschafer4440 happened to me too! LOL
Moral of the story: don’t argue with Uncle Chael.
Undisputed. Undefeated.
I watch nascar but neve been to indy 500 because its too busy.
one day we will live in a world were Chael could have used his phone to check his friends claims using the world wide web
This was so good. I would love to hear your opinions on a variety of topics. You have a keen intelligence and a tremendous ability to deliver it.
He used to make cooking videos lol
After doing a little research on this Chael, I’m pretty confident your buddy Reese is right on this one. There’s 2 miles worth of stands that were full. Some places on the inside and outside of the track. Plus people in fields. Also, it did shut down many streets. What you say makes sense, but the track has to report ticket sales. I don’t think they’ll report 200k extra ticket sales. Also, this isn’t NASCAR buddy. It’s Indy car.
you literally googled it dont call it "research" Chaels right about this one for sure
@@ReadIcculus93 football is still better than soccer my friend is a fan and it's like 90% mid play like the ball doesn't get by the goal very much.........I guess that's why everyone gets so excited when something actually happens............and womans sports
Chael: "Area 52"
Me: "I don't disagree with you"
I suspect that he does these things on purpose to catch your attention.
This dude is a marketing machine.
It's just one of these things
Commen section on Chaels channel is truly undisputed
I just had a similar discussion with someone I love very much..... I ended up saying okay because they've already decided and asking a few reasonable questions upsets them and I don't care that much ☺️
Most people just want to be pandered too and told what they already think is correct
That right there was one of the best comedy bits I have seen in a while, well done!
Indianapolis Motor Speedway’s capacity is
257,327 (permanent seats) - 400,000 grand total depending upon seating configuration.
It’s truly astounding
They use these tracks every weekend btw. NASCAR ain’t the only game in town using the track. NASCAR doesn’t own the tracks. Chael should know that the UFC doesn’t own the venues he performed in. Give me a break.
Buy a ticket and go check it out
We will really listen to Chael talk about fucking anything won’t we
"I haven't gotten into the relish, boys."
CHAEL IS WEARING A GRAPHIC T SHIRT. NOW I MUST HAVE IT.
That’s more people than San Diego Comic Con and not even San Diego has enough hotels
So happy chael is on UA-cam truly a blessing 💯great content man expect nothing less from the baddest to grace the octagon!
I want a documentary of the behind the scenes research for this one video
"Area 52" LOL. You crack me up Chael; always messing with us.
Yeh, mayweather beat him right back and won, but the rewrite that it was some sort of joke is truly sad.
chael did you steal that shirt from cejudo
Chael, I truly can't at all decide or tell if it's masterful trolling or if you really do think that Area 52 is correct. Either way I'm dying right now. And if you are trolling then your a beast at it. Subtle yet hilarious
These are the best kind of Chael P videos.
I believe it's about 225,000 fans per Daytona 500 and they use that track many many times per year. The 500 is the super bowl of racing so yes its a huge event. I went to it and it's absolutely nuts how many people are there. The president usually goes if that says anything about it
Also, it's over 2 miles around and they have a massive crew to work it on top of the crew they have year round.
I truly hope this agreement took place and if it did I know without a dealt your friend was pissed off and then by the end of the argument he realized you was correct 😂🤣😂
My favorite scientist happens to also be undefeated.
Went to the Indy 500 Sunday. Easily fits 500,000, is what I believed until Chael told me otherwise.
yah, but how many hot dogs? no way they could have 600k? /jk
Well if wikipedia says so
@@williamkissinger3164 the Indianapolis motor speedway is within the loop of indy and it's a huge pain in the ass on race day.
Ain't no way
Uncle Chael, undisputed, undefeated, never lost a round, biggest arms in West Linn to drive the biggest Ford truck in all the land.
the funniest part of this video when he said Sheppard Smith was his favorite "journalist" lol
My favorite scientist is Bill Nye.
I don't want anyone to take this personally, but Nascar outside the US is just as relevant and well-known as Curling.
I think f1 racing is bigger outside the US
I don't think that's a shock to anyone
You can't even realize how large the Indy 500 venue is until you go there in person! The seats go a lot further around than the main straight away.
I think this might be my favorite video piece Chael has done. This is gold.
and Indy track is used for several huge racing events
This is a poorly thought out conspiracy, just to start out.
1. Attendance numbers are always lies.
2. Your F 250 may only carry 2 tons, maybe check the towing capacity its probably closer to 20,000 pounds.
All this time we thought it was Area 51 when its actually been Area 52 all along.
The last race of the year for the past 5 years. The 4 remaining playoff drivers magically finished 1st 2nd 3rd & 4th hmmm
Every sport is like that at that point
Indianapolis Motor Speedway has over 250,000 seats, and has a capacity for well over 300,000. Yes there has been over 300,000 people in Speedway IN for the 500. And yes it takes all week to clean up. Use to live across from track back in mid 90's BIG 4 day party
1 Michigan Stadium 107,601
2 Beaver Stadium 106,572
3 Ohio Stadium 102,780
4 Kyle Field 102,733
Bedazzled tshirt Chael hits different
Have you seen the size of the Indy track? It has a golf course in the infield
I love that the whole basis of the video is the indy 500... yet the whole lead in story and title us about Nascar.
Uncle Chael is my favorite scientist.
This is a great argument and as someone who grew up with nascar on tv after most family events. I'm kinda mad. Brillant
Chael is also a great math treacher
Isn’t there anything this guy can’t do lol
Cheal is literally "uncle cheal" i could totally see this argument around the dinner table. Man can this guy not only argue but tell a story
Bravo sir 👏
Uncle Chael:
Indianapolis Motor Speedway can hold up to 257,325, according to a 2004 study by the Indianapolis Star, though more than 400,000 people have been able to see the race live with temporary seating that is put up for the race.
Man chael this is the fastest way to make me uninterested put nascar on the thumbnail. Yet here i am. Man your undefeated.
Indianapolis Motor Speedway -- a 2.5 mile long oval that is so large it encloses an 18-hole golf course and has a permanent seating capacity of 257,325 -- the highest-capacity sports venue in the world.
Chael had me on the edge of my seat on this one lol
It might not be 500,000 people that can be seated At the track itself, but there is also seating in the infield. I know for a fact most people go for the party surrounding the race , and don’t attend the race itself. It probably brings at least 100,000 tourists to town total, over Memorial Day weekend . But I’m just guessing
I was in the military and I drove home during the 500. I couldn't find a hotel in a
3 - 4 hour window.
Firstly he completely misrepresents the size/length of the Indy 500 (not nascar) and says it’s “one row”
This video proves otherwise
ua-cam.com/video/RbeF0jWWylI/v-deo.html
Secondly, with his whole hotdog spiel he tries to make the numbers/situation appear mote absurd then they really are assuming that everyone in a 350K arena would buy a hotdog which is far from true.
Chael Earnhardt Jr
Raise Hell Praise Chael
I’m learning a lot today. I didn’t know these companies use F250’s to transport hot dogs. And I didn’t realize not that many people have cell phones with square on them. By the way, after all the posts I’ve made ripping Quale, I don’t believe the 300,000 number either lol
