@@rite2beararms What a 500 dollar junk yard motor? Not really. You can build a big block that performs the same that can last years even with twin turbos and it would be cheaper in the long run. I also think about things like labor. It's not really much more to invest in a forged rotating assembly. Keep in mind an LS is still just a small block Chevy.
I just wanted to thank you for completing my high school hotrod…. I owned a 1980 Monte Carlo that originally had the v6 and I worked after high school on a Home Depot budget trying to make it hot rod worthy. I ran into so many problems but I still was able to swap the v6 to a 5.7 but my tranny was too small so I got a used th350 from a c10… fly wheel and torque converter were also from the v6 c10. Some how it still worked. It was running mid 14s when I took it to the track. Later on I changed out the rear gears from stock to 3.73 min posi. I only pulled one track run before I deployed to Iraq in 04 and had to park the car. During deployment I divorced my ex wife and she scrapped my car:( anyways I always wondered what it would look like if some one went all the way. So I thank you as I dont think I will ever get the Chance to repeat the process any time this life.
I’m a diesel tech building a Malibu. I’ve used a lot of heavy duty application for small details and organization. Some of my hot rod buddies are like wow they make that? Lol I’m like yep pulled it off a Mach or what ever lol.
BAD ASS!!!! I've owned both a 77 & a 79. The 77 was just to Big to Go Crazy with, but the 79 I always wanted to Go Balls to the Wall with. Very Cool seeing this One👍💥👍
@@marcojordan1368 hell yeah it is, and a Year/Body Style you don't see much turned in to a BEAST. It's usally the SS or even LS from the mid 80's that gets turned in to track weapons. I likes it very much!!!
1980 Monte! My first car. Mine was slow af and had t-tops. Always loved the body style of these and this year especially due to the twin headlights. I liked the squares in the tailights better then the other couple years that had similar design. All them little details that make difference. Sweet ride👍🍻
man that gen Monte Carlo is so fuckin nice.. You literally can't go wrong whether its a drag car, a low rider, cruiser.. don't even matter still always looks like a beautiful beast.
I have a 79 best Monte body style of them all 3rd gen I'm playing with 500 ponys I drive mine in the snow any more and it would be parked 5 months a year love driving my car everyday your 1980 is a killer great drag car
It's a very nice job. I had a 78 Monte Carlo. And I also have a 78 Delta 88 I would love to have this motor in my Delta a lot more room to do what I wanted to do with it but Everything has to go one day or another
Super cool pretty simple and clean work! I would love to have something like this! Someone buy my sleeved turbo Honda so I can build a ls powered g body!
I must say well done sir. I have a black 87 SS all original that I need to start working on. I have always been a huge fan of the Monte Carlo's and it appears to me that you've created a home made SS! Thank you for sharing your info. Now I have more insight as to what I want out of mine. God bless
Wow you have a beast in your hands love the late 70s A body monte Carlos i had the same 1980 with the same color and it had a 3.8 v6 I got it from my dad in 1987 when I gust had my license
Gen 4/gen 4 internals make up 99% of the BIG power SBE LS stuff. The pistons are forged and i believe the rods are stronger, but cant remember how exactly.
Any way to contact him about those fiberglass front and rear bumper/covers? I know its been a couple years since this was posted, but I have an '80 also, and dont really want to go back with the chrome trim they had. His front has an integral spoiler, which is way nicer to the body linel.
I know this is an old video, but I just found it. Is there any chance this car is actually a '79? I know the grill and headlights are different from 79 to 80 but it's possible someone swapped the front clip. I'm asking because this looks exactly like my old car except for the headlights and grill (mine was a '79). I had built mine up pretty strong (for a college guy on a budget in the '90's). Obviously the current owner has taken this car WAY farther than what I had done to mine.
I like the owner interview... Clear concise and informative 👍🏻
