Something me and the wife argue about all the damn time!! My first car was an 85 Monte Carlo SS, I’ve loved them ever since, and wanting to get another one to build. She thinks they’re ugly…… almost caused a divorce 😂
Cool G-body, reminds me of my 1985 monte ss, burgundy and maroon, I purchased new 8-15-1985, man I loved that ride it was perfect for a young family, I let my then wife drive it fla-Ga weekend and some punk rearended the car, light damage, had it fixed at the dealer, then it was stolen in Daytona beach on a weekend trip, found 2 days later, brought it back to dealer and had it fixed again, divorced the cheating wife and car was stolen again from my new apartment, got it back that morning and had the dealer fix it again ,the final straw was some stupid chick ran a stop sign and clipped the front end bending the frame and frame horns, so after 13 years and 114k miles it was totalled, man I still miss the car and its been 25 years since I had it, you have an awesome ride and great content on the show.
Awesome story regarding what's meant to be. Beautiful G-body in all aspects. My first car was a '84 MC SS. I went through the stock 305 and two 350's, and a laundry list of other mechanical and miscellaneous issues before parting ways. Still some of my best auto memories.
Love the car, enjoy it well. I am happy that you got it back, after it was stolen. But there is one thing I have to say. I am 76 years young, and I think that burning rubber is a foolish waste.
I was born in 82, so I remember the Monte’s very well back when they were still new cars. They’ve lost their luster because they weren’t particularly fast, and the GN stole the show when you bring up G-body. However back in the days the Monte SS was a cool car, and IMO it’s the best and meanest looking G body. Absolutely love this ride. Glad it got a proper feature on this channel.
@americanmusclehd wowza! Followed this car since before the theft and recovery. Amazing build, leave the dent! Great episode. Humble man. Badass Monte!
this Chevy is a masterpiece...... Danm good....... That era cannot happen again. salute buddy..... Keep it up shawn...... Greetings from india 🇮🇳🤘🏻🤘🏻🤠🤠🤩
Finally..It's been a long wait, but it was worth it. I was one of the subscribers who requested a Monte Carlo years ago! Perfect engine in there, I must say.
Great story on this car. My first car was an 84 monte SS in blue. (The only year they made it in Blue). It was a nice big cruiser. Traded it for a 90 IROC back in the day. Looking forward to seeing more of this Monte Carlo.
That's my affordable dream car. That exact year of Monte Carlo. It has the perfect blend of muscle car with a little bit or low rider style to it. That car can scratch a few itches and not look gimmicky while doing it.
Man that Monte Carlo is gorgeous, I remember when those came out in the 80’s and that to me is what a chevelle SS would’ve looked like had they continued manufacturing them
G body shout out. They were always the clean style. My parents had a Regal. Nice to see a Monte Carlo. With a history. Cool story bro. God is good. Nice whip. Perfect build. ❤❤🙏🙏👍👍🤑😎
Always had a fetish for these Monte Carlos. This build nailed it - the stance, the powertrain, everything and the owner seems like a stand up dude. Would've loved to see some driving action. Very nice feature thank you for sharing.
One of my favorite cars I'm a former owner of the 84ss ( it is missed ) beautiful build my hats off to you stolen and recovered happened to me twice however not as fortunate as you in the engine department
Shawn, I know you are not a g-body guy unless it’s a grand National BUT, without even watching the video yet, I have requested you a few years back to a mid 80’s Monte SS (I have one too) and you didn’t disappoint me!!!!! 👍🚗🥋
Wow. This is a beauty. I FINALLY after 20+ years have a Monte Carlo SS again and am eating up any G-body vids I can watch. I had a 87 SS with the T-tops in high school (it was kind of a beater) and it had an engine fire. The 85 SS I just got is beautiful, with only 65k+ miles... But it needs more HP, thats for sure. Super cool story Garrett on getting the car back LOVE the classic Brewers hat too #414 #MKE.
Great combination of the driver, build, and story. His vision was spot on! Something I think we can all learn from this is that this build can do it all.
SHAWN I LOVE THE GBODY VIDEO'S!!! This is awesome, as I said in another comment with the insane T-Type that I absolutely love. Thank you for what you do, Shawn. I hope someday I'll be of this caliber
What a damn cool car! The story of the car getting stolen and returned is just unbelievable!!!!! Great work as always dude. Keep up the awesome content! You are truly one of my favorite hosts!
That would be nice, but they're not going to. If you know GM's mentality these days, and like the previous commenter said, they probably wouldn't want this competing with the Camaro. And if you're thinking of a 4 door, they don't want it competing with the Cadillac lineup. The only one that has any chance of coming back as a V8 4 door sedan is the Impala SS, to compete with the Charger and 300. But even thats doubtful.
I don't get here much but, I love this channel. That Car is Dope AF.. 10:25 there's dudes out there that can take that "stress" outta those highpoints in that dent..
The G-Body will never go out of style

Never ever!!!

@@barryfoster6265 oh shit....lol well it's either the wife or the G-body. Better keep the wife😵
The story of people helping and coming together then he gets his car back is the best part of this video!!!!!!
Such a crazy story. Good karma for Garrett!!
He's a blessed man. God's angles went to war and got his victory. What God has for you, no man can take...

Had a 86 t-top SS for a few years. Engine was a mild 355 SBC. Can’t go wrong with a Monte SS.👍👊

What a cool, honest car.Not a trailer queen, a real driver!
So stoked on this video. Garretts a rad guy, and so is shawn. Love this Gbody!
Nothing is better than a drive able hot rod. Love it
That’s a beautiful SS. I wish I had bought one when they were cheap.
A 100% percent honest car guy, keep up the great work with the vehicle
That's my "G-nephew" so proud of you "G"...keep up the great work... The car 🚗 Monte C. is.. Hot 🔥
Read my mind, I was just thinking I would love to see more 80s/90s cars. Can't wait to watch the video.
Now THAT is a “ real” build, Shawn! Garrett is such a cool dude. I followed the whole theft incident-great to see it back to rockin’. 👍
Classic from day 1....those bodylines cant be beat.
I agree. Sexy car

This one made me miss not having a video last Friday but made up for it! What a genuine beast. Raw power and a daily driver's dream.

OMG, I had the same car, same year and color. Made front cover of Monte carlo owners magazine doing a burnout...Classic!!!!!!!!
That is one sharp Monte Carlo. And awesome how the car lovers community came to help him. Awesome story.

I will always love this car and the same year camaro
Been following this build since he got the car back in the day this is cool
Love me some Monte. One of the most stylin' bodies GM ever made, Any year. This one is tight in blue by-you!
Have always loved the body lines on this car. In my opinion it’s genuinely beautiful & equally sinister
Love the stories, and love this channel.
Thank you and this one is a crazy story! Stoked he got it back
Long live the G-Body .. excellent episode once again thanks.
What a great story and a super cool car. I agree with you Sean that those SS's are so cool and great lines.
About time you got a G Body Monte Carlo SS on the channel!
Love those '80s G-body rides ...
that ss is my dream car nice job man
Ok, we’ve had a GN, Monte, now time for a Cutlass…gotta round it out! 84 Monte was my first car, wasn’t lucky enough to have an SS though.
True but we need a Pontiac grand prix as well!!
I love the Monte Carlo SS's! This is a very nice example
Bout time you did a Monte, keep ‘em coming brother!!!
This was a great episode
Love that you guys did this one!!!!!!!❤
This monte and Frankie Tru's Regal are my favorite G Bodies of all time.
I'm honored to be apart of such great company! Frankie's car is INSANE
Bad ass car! Garrett’s a cool guy…got lots of same friends. My buddy had a cool Monte Carlo in high school…always loved those things. 🔥🔥
Definitely a cool car and Garrett is awesome!
My favorite episode by far now… lovely interview and car and host. Wonderful

Love these cars. Like to see 1/4 mile times.

Such a cool car. Love the rims. Can't say that too often.
Badass ride!!! 🔥
This one is so clean a true work of art, I miss my 86 Monte Carlo shoutout to the G-Bodys 💪
I remember the day this was stolen and the day it was found in a field, great video as always AutotopiaLA didn’t expect this one with American Muscle
I can relate to having my car stolen and returned. It's the worst rollercoaster of emotions. So glad that he got it back.
That's an incredible story and badass car!! 💯💯💯
Clap your hands 👏 if you want the Montecarlo to be brought back again! 😀
👏
I’d love to see that happen but tbh I’d worry they’d screw it up and design it like they did the Malibu.
@@ryandubyah2345 Yeah they could have done better with the Malibu's
According to Chevrolet, they refused to reintroduce the Monte Carlo, which is believed to have internally competed with the Camaro 🤔🤑
That would be nice, but they're not going to. If you know GM's mentality these days, and like the previous commenter said, they probably wouldn't want this competing with the Camaro. And if you're thinking of a 4 door, they don't want it competing with the Cadillac lineup.

Best g body car around
"more less completed fashion" luv it
sensible ....nice ride Garrett
He’s such a cool guy and I love his Monte
I like how subtle the car is, how lay back the owner is. Is that the original paint? Great video as always.
Don’t know about the paint but cool car and owner for sure
She has been repainted once since I've owned it. The blue is a little lighter than factory and has some more metallic in it! 🙏🏽🤟🏽
Ohhh yeahhh baby g body Carlo. Very beautiful car.
Very cool one

I think the stance and the hood visually makes that car for me that motor set up tho looks super clean and bet it’s a blast to hammer on lol
Thats a hard balance between loving your ride, and loving to flog the piss out of it daily.
Sure is
Great interview!!! Gained a new fan of the channel!!! More G Bodies please!!! Getting ideas for my Gbody!!!
This guy is genuine. Love his vibe and the car too.
My dream car is a like 400-450 wheel big block G body Monty Carlo with a ZL1 irs rear end and coil overs

Now you need to shoot a cutlass!! Plenty of wild ones.
Sounds badass.. I'm beginning to get hooked on the black widows.. think I'll try them on my ride!!
Black Widow sounds great. Loud but cool
1984 CHEVROLET MONTE CARLO SS...PURE GM POWER 🔋
I don't know much about cars, but I can definitely appreciate the build and the tunes.
