I've been saying this since 2016, and since I enlisted and got to spend some real time outside of my bubble. As a democratic socialist I often think I have more in common with libertarians than I do with moderate liberals. We may call injustice by different names, but at least we can both plainly see that our current system doesn't work.

You think they are good, because they are policy oriented, which every Q&A should be, because you get specific answers to specific questions. But CNN for Dems and FOX for Republicans have realised, that some of their politicians dom't like to be grilled with difficult and specific questions, where the politician may fumble the answer or even not know what they would do. You can easily see that in how FOX treats Trump. Questions about policy are vague and there is never any follow-up. The hard questions are always reserved for the opposition. CNN does the same if a Republican lawmaker is on their show.

Equal opportunity starts with having a roof over your head and food on the table while you're growing up. Bernie does NOT seek equality of outcome, but in the world's richest country, all people should have the basics of survival, including healthcare. Taxing billionaires is needed if we want to repair the nation's crumbling infrastructure and have clean drinking water in all major cities, and all the other things that the developed nations of the world provide for all their citizens. The problem is, the whole solution of increasing tax on the rich may sound good in theory but it does not work in practice. If the super wealthy have even more tax then they'll just leave the country (the ones who haven't already left) and you'll get nothing at all from them. Increasing taxes and giving people "free" stuff" sounds good but in the end its the middle and working class american who may suffer even more. In my opinion, the big issue is that people rely on government too much. Kids are growing up without food and shelter and why? Because the government made it that way? Even though he did get fair questions and was liked by the crowd I noticed that he didn't answer some of the more important questions that really mattered. I'm a registered Democrats. I have to be to vote for Bernie in the primary. I'm not a party line voter. I just think that's bizarre. If I prefer the Republican presidential candidate, but love the Democratic governor I'm going to vote for both of them. I should hope that everyone would do that, but I know that's not the reality.

Our taxes (middle class) would only go up a little to help pay for healthcare but our skyrocketing private insurance costs would disappear and we would also have way more choices of doctors because all of them would be "in network." But hey let's just pay a middle man 100's of dollars a month to set crazy drug prices and tell me what dr I can and cant see. As an asthmatic that didn't have healthcare For 6 years I feared for my life as a 26-32 year old. My inhaler was 325$ plus the 90$ it took to get the prescription from a doctor. My emergency inhaler was 70$ and again it took a 90$ dr visit for this. I cant live without these and all Americans would actually put their tax dollars to work for them. Not some fake war. We are all people and we deserve better..

Hey Canadian here, our system has problems and the only reason they don't get fixed is because the rest of Canadians are like: "Well at least we are not the US." Even with our problems, we rank better than you in nearly all metrics except some cancers survival rates (not all of them contrary to the popular conservative talking point) and wait times for elective procedures (i.e. not life threatening).

As a democratic socialist I often think I have more in common with libertarians than I do with moderate liberals. Restricting the Bailout to Protect U.S. Workers (Feburary 2009): A Sanders amendment required the banking bailout to utilize stricter H-1B hiring standards to ensure bailout funds weren't used to displace American workers.
Helping Veterans' Kids (July 2009): A Sanders amendment required the Comptroller General to put together comprehensive reporting on financial assistance for child care available to parents in the Armed Forces.
Exposing Corruption in the Military-Industrial Complex (November 2012): A Sanders amendment required “public availability of the database of senior Department officials seeking employment with defense contractors” - an important step toward transparency that revealed the corruption of the revolving door in action.
Support for Treating Autism in Military Health Care: Sanders worked with Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) to pass an amendment by a vote of 66-29 ensuring that the military's TRICARE system would be able to treat autism.
His biggest successes came when Sanders was able to get the first-ever audit of funds given out by the Federal Reserve, which made transparent over $2 trillion of funds handed out by the secretive organization. You think they are good, because they are policy oriented, which every Q&A should be, because you get specific answers to specific questions. But CNN for Dems and FOX for Republicans have realised, that some of their politicians dom't like to be grilled with difficult and specific questions, where the politician may fumble the answer or even not know what they would do. You can easily see that in how FOX treats Trump. Questions about policy are vague and there is never any follow-up. The hard questions are always reserved for the opposition. CNN does the same if a Republican lawmaker is on their show.

The problem is, the whole solution of increasing tax on the rich may sound good in theory but it does not work in practice. If the super wealthy have even more tax then they'll just leave the country (the ones who haven't already left) and you'll get nothing at all from them. Increasing taxes and giving people "free" stuff" sounds good but in the end its the middle and working class american who may suffer even more. In my opinion, the big issue is that people rely on government too much. Kids are growing up without food and shelter and why? Because the government made it that way? Even though he did get fair questions and was liked by the crowd I noticed that he didn't answer some of the more important questions that really mattered. I wished the hosts had pressured him to stop changing the subject but I can see why they didn't because they would've gotten booed down by the audience. Our taxes (middle class) would only go up a little to help pay for healthcare but our skyrocketing private insurance costs would disappear and we would also have way more choices of doctors because all of them would be "in network." Healthcare for all Is actually "conservative" we would save money in the long run. But hey let's just pay a middle man 100's of dollars a month to set crazy drug prices and tell me what dr I can and cant see. As an asthmatic that didn't have healthcare For 6 years I feared for my life as a 26-32 year old. My inhaler was 325$ plus the 90$ it took to get the prescription from a doctor. My emergency inhaler was 70$ and again it took a 90$ dr visit for this. I cant live without these and all Americans would actually put their tax dollars to work for them. Not some fake war. We are all people and we deserve better..

For me, the biggest/most "radical" is the shake up of the health insurance industry but either way that industry needs serious reform. And the changes under Medicare for all are likely to save most Americans thousands of dollars.
We spending over 1 trillion already on healthcare for Medicaid and medicare. People get 3 times more than what they put in. Do the research. Also, if we get rid of every federal program, it still won't pay for 330 million people. Even if you tax the rich at 100%, it won't pay for 10% of the bill. Just Google "us federal spending budget". We're over spending now without it. Even if we cut military to zero. It won't pay for the bill.

"Insurance" is the biggest scam going, any way. The first time you put in a legitimate claim - more often than not - they want to raise your rates, or drop you, even if it wasn't your fault.
