I appreciate Lee Pace's acting in this scene considering his character was about to exact his revenge and win a war and then in the middle of his triumph an Earthling starts to convulse his body set to music. He is so confused by Quill's reaction that he's genuinely caught off guard by it, to the point of actually being nervous to ask what's going on as if it's some kind of 200 IQ advanced trick and not a spur-of-the-moment non-sequitor distraction.
It almost feels like Lee Pace breaks character instead of just Ronan's composure breaking. Like he didn't get the full script for the scene. Doubt that's the truth, but it's fun to think about.
@@sephy26946 "Lee Pace breaks character" ... close, but nope. Actually RONAN "breaks character." He's playing his dream role, badass avatar of Kree vengeance, and gets caught so off-guard that he forgets what he's doing and becomes an ordinary Kree. Quill burst his bubble. It was a brilliant move, showing off Quill's natural sense for on-scene tactics
I love how the camera starts to stop shaking and smoothen once they have the power under control Small detail to cinematography but with a big meaning!
I love watching it. The way the music starts and feels nervous but courageous at first as you watch the Guardians unite (literally and metaphorically) then once they're on a "common ground", so to speak, the camera steadies while the power within the stone becomes balanced and the music follows suit, building into the crescendo when Quill says they're the GoTG, letting the music illustrate the badassness of it all. One of my top five MCU moments honestly. I get so excited by the brilliance of that scene every time.
I love how this scene parallels the grenade scene with Steve Rogers, cementing Quill as one of the most selfless heroes of the MCU. Steve didn't know the grenade was fake, just as Peter did not know he wasn't mortal. Both never hesitated for a second even though they both "knew" they'd be giving their own lives.
This scene really is one of the best marvel scenes to come out of the MCU. The pacing, the emotion, the visuals, all complimented by that amazing Guardians score.
I like how Rocket, the smallest of the Guardians and the one that people would see as less intimidating, was the determining factor of whether they’d be able to use the Power Stone or not.
I think the ending to the first Guardians movie where they hold hands to share the power of the infinity stone literally sharing the pain in order to stand as one might be my favorite ending out of any film ever. It gets me every time. It perfectly ties in everything the film is about in a masterful scene that could have felt cringy or awkward if handled incorrectly. The subtext of them holding an infinity stone, literally a representation of the cold uncaring universe that just takes with its sheer power and force finally being controlled by this make shift family that has been made up of morally questionable individuals that come together for something greater than themselves. Even their superhero name of Guardians of the galaxy evokes a feeling parental guidance care, like if no one else in the universe will give a shit about helping innocent life they sure will. All of that undercut by the masterful score of black tears that perfect rises the tension of the moment until climaxing with all of them holding hands in a triumphant moment of standing up to an uncaring ruthless genocides Ronin. People say superhero movies aren't art, but dammit that scene is just beautiful
Black Tear is a master class in dissonant chords resolving on a single promised chord. The song burns because of it chord structure then it snaps into a prefect hero theme climax, like the idea of heroism being constructed out of tonal chaos. The shot composition is perfect too, Peter's face being unmade by the stone, the way his hand rest a moment in the air before touching Gamora's. Perfect.
Its also why Im very excited to see the upcoming DC movies (not counting the next 3 or so). Gunn wrote and directed these films and is doing the same with most of the upcoming dc movies. Just nkt the next few that were well into development before he got involved.
@@Marvelfanatic3658 just watch the movie gamora saw that they where trying to get the super gun ready i a scene right before this one and did this so the distraction was more convincing
To anyone who still doesn't like Peter Quill, just remember: He grabbed the power stone thinking it would kill him. He was THAT determined to save everyone
TBH peter reaction was honest human reaction, but MCU has removed this emotions from their films now which is why people were not able to understand peter reaction
and he kept his promise to gamora, that he would kill her if thanos found them, he was THAT determined to save everyone, even if it meant killing the woman he loved. it just didn't work out cause thanos had the reality stone
@@Helpingbos I think it's just that people don't understand subtlety anymore. This is undoubtedly one of my favorite Marvel death scenes. The score is just fantastic here, and Peter's guilt over his mother's death gives his character so much more depth. And come on. What a line! "You said it yourself, bitch. We're the Guardians of the Galaxy."
What I loved is a small detail, and that’s how the camera stopped shaking when they were all connected. It’s such a small difference that just makes you sense how they are controlling the stone. Masterpiece.

For some reason I love this movie more than any other marvel movie. It was perfectly timed and paced. It introduced all the characters and had time to flesh them out and make you love them by the end. The “We are Groot” scene and this scene where Peter sees his dying mother in place of Gamora saying “take my hand” are some of the best written scenes in the MCU. They really did Peter Quill dirty during ‘Infinty War’ and ‘End Game’ making him out to be a moron.
Honestly, I like the Quill hitting Thanos part. Was it moronic? Yes, but Tony would've probably done the same if it was Cap or someone else, he literally almost kill Bucky for a similar reason, that's why he begged Quill to not do it.
They didnt make Quill a moron in Infinity War. Let’s not forget he essentially solo’d Spiderman, Dr Strange, and Iron Man, while also being the one who came up with the plan to defeat thanos on titan
This last act of GotG brought the dramatic weight to the film- its genuinely moving when Peter sees his mother and takes Gamora’s hand. One of the best MCU movies.
I was literally thinking the same thing! Need to watch Winter Soldier again too... That one was my favorite and still may be, need to see how all these Marvel movies aged
I love the look on Ronan's face when first he asked "what are you doing?" And even after Quill answered, he has this look... like he entered a situation so outside of his ken that he become a regular person again.
Ronan and his incredibly casual: “what are you doing” as if asking if his mental health is fine, is one of the single greatest reaction I’ve ever seen to weird shit
I just realized. ONE stone nearly killed all the Guardians. The fact Tony was even still conscious after using all of them is a testament to his strength and engineering ability
@kruczek9566 Exactly. Or a suit. Basically, something like that sort of thing. Like the Infinity suit kept Ultron, Killmonger, and Peggy all alive. And they were able to use the stones with them too.
Well I'm assuming the suit had some adapting technology that could harness the infinity stones power, keep in mind Tony died right after and he only held all stones for less than 30 seconds (i think), his suit wasn't designed to handle the stones, but the suits used in what if were.
@@kruczek9566when you look at it that way, Peter is actually the only character to use the full, unleashed power of an infinity stone. Pretty awesome if you ask me

the power stone is the only one that can kill the user while holding it, the reality stone possess people, the soul stone needs sacrifice, only when all the stones are brought together does the energy and power of the stones amplify and can kill anyone who possess them

I love how both moments are similar but have their own self actualizing themes. Guardians went from selfish a-holes to saving a planet. In D&W they’re both desensitized former heroes at rock bottom who commit to sacrifice because “people need them.” It’s why these 2 movies resonate with me, I love the character writing, humor, and music!

It’s authentically hilarious!

Perfect.

Honestly, it almost feels like the 'dance-off' was improvised, the actor looks that shocked. Of course, it wasn't, because there was a blooper/gag reel moment where they actually have the dance-off.
What the fuck 7 years already?
@@christian5146 I see you’ve also suffered from Current Affairs ™️ time dissociation
Thor should dance too, before thanos snap lol.
Imagine thanos says "What are u doing"
no thanos will say Am I JokE tO yoU?
Thanos isn't an idiot like Ronan, he'd snap and then say something smug like "I'd dance too, since 50% of the universe just got saved. You're welcome. I'm glad someone's grateful"
@@greatthemeedits1252 wooosh
Dance off bro!!
@@greatthemeedits1252 best possible thanos response ever lol
Imagine how awkward a scene this would have been to shoot............
That's the power of acting for you.
Its chris pratt. He would have made it great.
There’s no way anything can be awkward with pratt
"don't worry guys it will look great in post"
I like to imagine this started off as a blooper with Chris Pratt just forgetting what he was supposed to do and they just decided to go with it.
All the Guardians together holding the Power Stone is one of the most badass moments in the MCU
This is actually a brilliant scene. They needed it to break up the incredibly emotional moment before with Groots death, from the absolutely tear jerking scene after where he recalls his mother. Using his wits to buy time for rocket by doing something completely unexpected totally fits his character and was such a poetic and great choice. It's one of the smartest scenes in any comicbook film.
It isn't one of the coolest scenes. Compared to the other movies. But it is heart warming, because they are sharing each others pain. BY THE FRIENDSHIP!
@@moltenlights - Oh I definitely think it's one of the coolest scenes. He had to provide a distraction so rocket could rebuilt his weapon, he did, and the scene that follows is just epic
The Lost Reality They’re not friends, they’re family
@@123videos456 so, one last ride?
Imagine Rocket holding Groot's branch in his left hand when he's holding Drax's finger. And a image of Groot appearing behind the 4 of them.
And when Ronan asks "HOW" they all repiled: WE.ARE.GROOT
I absolutely love that the camera stops shaking as soon as the power stone is stablized. Such an awesome detail
Agreed, there was so much meaning in that nuance.
Underrated opinion!
OMG so much truth!
And the sound! Jesus! I always have goosebumps this moment😍
Agreed! Total control for a moment
Peter Quill literally saved the galaxy with the power of dancing and friendship
If you hate this guy, you hate happiness
WHO CAN HATE HIM THOUGH!?!??!?
Purple hair retards
And Karate so that makes him Dayman...
Me
Nobody hated him until he punched Thanos during titan fight
I never liked him
THE BEST Marvel scene ever, out of nowhere they came with this movie, and made THE BEST MARVEL scene ever, FOR ME. GOOSEBUMPS all over me every single time
this is probably one of the most emotional scenes of the franchise. holy shit when gamora says to take her hand and he sees his mother, you can't help but tear up. then the theme kicks in with them all standing there and somehow it gets even better
He sees his father too
I cried, I always do whenever she says take my hand Peter. Super emotional
Ahem...
“And I... am... Iron Man.”
Yes
@@Tobhar_winafi we're is his father?

Gives me chills every single time. :')
@@JonCombo Well it enhanced the scene.
@@daniyellsebastiyan1726 I'm sorry, did you just say language?
After all these years and films, the Guardians holding the Power Stone is still my personal favorite MCU scene.
I didn't love the way the sequel diminished it a bit making peter half god. But yeah, its a fucking dope scene either way.
@@McWerp Peter still wasn't able to hold the power stone by himself
@@McWerp he was alwas half god even in this movie in the movie prison sean his dna shows up as half human half something else
@@McWerp bruh literally right after this scene they explain why he was able to hold the infinity stone
To be fair, it's either him or a tree.
Deadpool and Wolverine did same thing 😂
Exactly bro that's what I was thinking at the last part movie... Still Amazing though
I love both equally
Very much so
I love how both moments are similar but have their own self actualizing themes. Guardians went from selfish a-holes to saving a planet. In D&W they’re both desensitized former heroes at rock bottom who commit to sacrifice because “people need them.” It’s why these 2 movies resonate with me, I love the character writing, humor, and music!
What part specifically did they do it
“Tell him about the dance off to save the universe”
“Like Footloose?”
“Exactly like Footloose! Is it still the greatest movie ever?”
“It never was” oof
I was laughing so hard at that😂😂
One of the few things that makes me watch Infinity War
That’s when they decided to make them brothers
Wow I’ve never gotten this many likes! Thanks
I hope this exchange comes back at some point, like if Spider-Man needs to get Star-Lord's attention or prove his identity, he'll just make a reference to Footloose or Flash Gordon and they'll both know what's up.
Thor: "You're going to die for that!"
People forget that Peter is 50% a celestial being. That's why he survived holding the stone before the others joined him
@Khooki Aiire he probably can, but since that isn't really his goal
@Khooki Aiire His goal was to not be alone, he wants to be everywhere
