I know people were pretty bummed about the turn to the Rebels but I still had a blast playing the campaign when the game first came out in 2017

Red was the most common color, and was made from cheaper gas. Also Rebels often use Empire weapons in battles
The imperial troops are cannon fodder.

I recommend the book about the Inferno Squad too. It brings you into the onset of the first Death Star and goes on from there.

Would have been nice playing as Rex as he journeys from Commander to General as a Rebel then New Republic Lead General and evevtually spending a term with Mon Montana's as the Galatic Defence Chief before retiring on Tatooine, Yavin or Endor as a farmer or Millatary Academy Instructor.
A really fitting end for a slave soldier bread in the cloning chambers of Kanino.

They're not just pilots. Imperial Special Forces with the same armour as the pilots.
