Hello, Star Wars fans! I've been working on the VFX here for nearly two years now. It's insane to see this is actually about to hit all these eyeballs after all this time. This massive, all-consuming, often frustrating task was a huge love letter to a franchise that I, like so many of you, grew up with. You can tell down to the last atom this was written by a Star Wars fan, from the hyperspace idea to the SITH AND JEDI CODES being recited??? The scale of this is huge and the sheer amount of work and passion put into this severely outweighs ANY small imperfections this may have. That was awesome.
DUDE, HOW IS THIS EVEN POSSIBLE??? Not only did you make it look basically identical to the original trilogy with the effects, music, etc, but you told an amazing story and made it look awesome!!!! You even got the Darth Vader voice pretty close to the original!!! It feels like an original Star Wars movie. Great Job!!!
The implication that a sith in the place of great light side energy sees the same strange sort of visions Jedi do in places of the dark side is just- chefs kiss! I wish Lucasfilm still did stuff this good.
Kylo literally had a comic where this happened lol, there are stories like these within books ect, HELL vaders first storyline post rots was all about this
They're only concerned with implanting Marxist propaganda in Star Wars now. That is the main objective in their movie making and many other Hollywood studios.
This fan-film is extraordinary. It perfectly highlights the conflict Vader had. His darkness and his light. The voice of Vader is incredible, the suits are incredible. I love how the light side of Vader fought similarly to Anakin, while Vader himself uses his own fighting style. Truly a masterpiece.
Disney Budget: 1 Billion Result :Movies that shall not be mentioned Holden's Budget: .010% of Disney's Result: An imaginary offer letter to sit at the table next to Dave Filoni discussing future projects.
It was an interesting take on Vader. To see the struggle and constant conflict within him (which he actually has) was really nice and well done. For a 'not so big' budget, it still looked pretty well made.
As a starwars fan since 1977, I got to say that the fan films have been fun to watch and have filled the voids between the movies…keep up the good work!!! I saw the fan film with the fight between Obi wan and Vader on the Death Star…I wish that was added into the actual remake… hopefully Lucas will possibly see these short films a make additions! Even though I’m a huge Obi wan fan Vader has been a favorite too! Such a tragic story of loss, deception and redemption!
Im so happy we still have true star wars fans who are taking the content into their own hands. This whole film was f’ing amazing. My eyes got watery from how happy i was watching it
I usually watch about 3 minutes of fan films and I’m in to the next. I watched this twice. The Attention to detail and effects shots are amazing. I can tell you put your whole heart in every shot. Absolutely awesome. I loved the x wing breaking up as it entered the atmosphere. Looked like real models were used!! This made my 4th. My inner child thanks you to Endor and back.
It is baffling and heart warming, that the Star Wars Fanbase still clings to this day to their franchise and release quality content far more precious than the official ones.
At this rate, I predict Disney Star Wars will be so worthless that Disney will have to sell it to save money. That is the only way it could be saved, if a fan buys it.
While I applaud their effort, this short is on par with Disney in terms of writing. The dialogue between the Vader's was uninspired except for one good line, and there were so many oed choices that hurt the film. 2 starfighters, yet they send an Armada of ships. Random Mandalorian post credits. The whole film basically re-iterates something we already know, that Vader still has some light in him. This is more a show of sfx and cinematography, but I don't think those two things are the main issues with the Disney projects.
@@SweetZombiJesus actually they were not trying break canon so they don't need to add new ideas. Breaking canon or rebooting already made work has the risk of losing fans. Their efforts has my support in any other future endeavors. You can't please everyone, obviously you are not pleased, but as long as they have support of the majority of fans, that's what counts.
Wait. WTF did I just watch??? This is the most amazing Fan Film I have ever seen. As someone who fiddled with the idea of a SW Fan Film 20 years ago but never got around to it, I am appreciative of all the work and dedication that went into it. It was basically indistinguishable from the real movies. Congratulations and thanks for making this.
Don't get me wrong I love a flashy lightsaber battle. Yet the best Star Wars fanfilms are always those that you actually can add as your personal headcanon to the story as something that happened we just never got to see it. Without needing to do some mental gymnastic and rewrites. And this clears that bar with ease. Well done.
This is Star Wars!!! exactly what we want from Disney as a whole yet seldom receive. I love the composition of both CGI and IRL footage used to create this film. Exceptional cinematography, world building and talented acting truly makes this fan film one of the best i've seen. And the Vader cosplay as a whole is remarkably akin to the in universe design. Great stuff man and thanks for creating this work of art.
Fantastic work, guys! This is the type of film that Star Wars fans really want to see. Great camera shots, awesome movie sets, great script... all done from the heart! Congrats on a job well done.
I am truly baffled at the execution of the short film. Yes it’s true I still think Star Wars sucks but knowing that a single artist and one editor made this on a shoestring budget is truly unbelievable. Great work to everyone that made this.

Excellent! This and other fan film makers are what " content creation " actually means. Talented people who actually make things, things that they have a real passion for. Unlike 90% of youtube, twitter, tiktok or social media, who don't "create" a single thing. Keep it up.
Awesome film! As a lifelong Star Wars fan since the 90's, this ticked every one of my boxes for an enjoyable Star Wars fan film. Love the TIE pilots just hanging out sitting on their craft in the docking cradles and I love the implication that Vader has the battalion of troopers go into a full parade formation purely to witness how awesome the Advanced x1 is and see him take off in it. Interesting idea of having Vader and Anakin facing off against each other in an internal struggle like this, with Anakin reciting the Jedi Code while Vader quoted the Sith Code. I like to imagine that Death Trooper just watched Vader have a mental breakdown and start fighting nothing, deciding not to question things. Congratulations to you and the entire team that worked on this, I can tell a lot of work and passion went into it.
My word this is amazing...its, gosh. THIS is Star Wars. Your video is, wonderful. I want to mention everything but...I''ll summarize. It's Perfect. The acting, the sound, Lord Vaders voice is, the CG and scenery? Incredible. And I am only at 8:20 as I write this because I just had to write it.
Holden. This was quite extraordinary as Annikin/Vader is the very literary essence of a tortured yet the greatest hero and villain in one. Luke is more powerful due to Vaders suit. This was genius. If Disney had an ounce of intelligence not stupidity you could have written for them. This would unite all fans. There is no Star Wars w/o the skywalkers. Bravo

You can tell down to the last atom this was written by a Star Wars fan, from the hyperspace idea to the SITH AND JEDI CODES being recited??? The scale of this is huge and the sheer amount of work and passion put into this severely outweighs ANY small imperfections this may have.
That was awesome.
Both Vaders reciting the Jedi and Sith Creed is everything!!!
Meh. No originality
Star Wars is never dead as long as there are fans like you who keep it alive. Disney can't take this from us.
Agreed
DUDE, HOW IS THIS EVEN POSSIBLE??? Not only did you make it look basically identical to the original trilogy with the effects, music, etc, but you told an amazing story and made it look awesome!!!! You even got the Darth Vader voice pretty close to the original!!! It feels like an original Star Wars movie. Great Job!!!
Yes, it did!
Very good.
Love it ❤
Master class.
Hopefully you will consider to continue the story with the Master
So close to original that I felt like I was watching a Lucas Film.
The force is strong with u. You're wise and strong, and I'm very proud of you. U cooked up a masterpiece
10/10! Very well made. Love the conflict within Vader turn into something we saw physically with his two selves.
Star Wars belongs to the fans forever! I’m blown away by this, disney is absolutely clueless in how to make anything good
The galaxy shall expand whether Disney likes it or not.
My son and I were there while you guys filmed the Vader vs Vader scene in Pensacola. He was so excited when you guys released this.
Amazing job
Very cool, I'm glad you guys liked the final product!
Whoever voiced siddeous is on point. He is not easy to do.
Somebody give this guy access to a full production team!
Thank you, I fully agree
Definitely Vader comics level
Disney Budget: 1 Billion
Result :Movies that shall not be mentioned
Holden's Budget: .010% of Disney's
Result: An imaginary offer letter to sit at the table next to Dave Filoni discussing future projects.
or maybe we just fire filoni and have holden. filoni is long since compromised and is just another corpo to the mouse
Corporations only care about profits and their radical agendas; indie filmmakers only care about making good products.
It was an interesting take on Vader. To see the struggle and constant conflict within him (which he actually has) was really nice and well done.
For a 'not so big' budget, it still looked pretty well made.
WOW!! Congrats for this nice short film! Better as Disney in Episode 7,8,9 together!
The space shots are so freaking awesome and the score feels so true to Star Wars! That’s a lot of star destroyers😯
Everyone who worked on this should be very proud.
Sometimes the fans can show Disney a thing or two. Why doesn’t Disney tell these kinds of short stories?? Beautiful work.
Thank you Holden for the opportunity to share my inner Palpatine! Well done my friend!
I wasn't expecting Lord Helmet from Spaceballs to turn up to fight Vader.
The name is Dark Helmet not Lord Helmet!
I know! I enjoyed the short film, but that second Vader helmet looked HUGE!
Lmao i bet she gives great helmet 😂😂😂
hahaha, i was thinking the same thing :D
Yeah that killed it for me, fat Vader.
It is baffling and heart warming, that the Star Wars Fanbase still clings to this day to their franchise and release quality content far more precious than the official ones.
Whatever this cost to make, every single penny is up on the screen! Incredible job 👏🏻
THIS IS FANTASTIC!!! I am STUNNED by how awesome this is. Just WOW!
Screw Disney these guys really need to start writing Star wars films
At this rate, I predict Disney Star Wars will be so worthless that Disney will have to sell it to save money. That is the only way it could be saved, if a fan buys it.
was thinking the same thing
@@SweetZombiJesuswhat makes this short story so compelling is it’s told through vaders pov showing what vaders conflict with the light looked like.
HAPPY STAR WARS DAY, MATT!! #MayThe4thBeWithYou
Watch Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Star Wars Rebels, Star Wars: The Bad Batch, Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi and Star Wars: Tales of the Empire and get ready to have your mind TRULY be blown. For better OR for worse!! 😂👌💫✨
@@Vandicoup eyyy thank ya!
gg matt lane fitness we love u
Damn Holden! Great job on you and your crew!
This was absolutely amazing. Truely respectful to the OG and Prequel trilogies. Loved how you got to actually show us the struggle that vader faced after his encounter with Luke. Absolutely brilliant.
This is one of the best looking fan films I've seen.
Thank you for this, this is amazing.. I felt the Star Wars vibes, at last ! Thanks !!
Impressive, MOST impressive!
Holden Hardman.
You are a Legend Mate !!!
The Force is Truly Strong with you and your film shows your love and passion for the universe that is Star Wars.
Congratulations on this film. It’s brilliant!
May you continue to bring the world your vision as a director.
Your fan from Australia 🇦🇺
how he destroyed the xwing right before it jumped was crazy
X-Wing: Holdo maneuver!
Vader: NNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!
Good call back to the last jedi
This is phenomenal! Great work on this project and kudos to everyone involved! 🎬😎👍🏻
Much better than Disney.... Sticking to the real lore with great writing and story telling!!
OMG! When they were saying the oaths to each other, I got goosebumps all over! This was so good. Hollywood loves nothing. That is way they fail.
Bravo
THE BLOCKING. The way the camera and actors were plotted out (especially during the space action) was absolutely TOP TIER.
This is a fantastic addition to Star Wars lore. Thanks for letting me be a small part of such a fun experience!
i am so happu this has showed up randomly in my youtube list. This is the best star wars i have seen since revenge of the sith, the mandalorian and asokha. disney should hire you. nice scene and atmosphere building. top job.
This should be at a theater I assume it was at film festival but world wide be great oh well its literally that good of fan film so cinematic and great vfx best fan film ever
A fine edition to add to my fan film collection
Never ceases to amaze me how sw fans can make better and passionate fan films with a much smaller budget yet can still tell a compelling story.
Good job guys! MTFBWY!
This is such an incredible fan film. Amazing music, INCREDIBLE plot and idea, and great VFX and SFX. Thank you for contributing to keeping real Star Wars alive. May the force be with you!!!
I love this. I saw the Star Wars movie as a kid fresh. Thank you for this.
I expected way more comments about the space battle! Some much work has gone into that. I've always imagined it like this but have never seen it. Bravo and thank you!
The best fan film made yet. So detailed and looks like out of "Rogue One."
This was an AMAZING fan film. I love the interesting story, the visual effects, everything. You guys did a great job on this, and the fact that Darth Vader was dueling himself was really crazy to me.
And here I was not feeling very Star Warsy on May the 4th! This definitely brought out that fanboy feeling from 2015. Feels good! Nice work Holden, from one director to another! This is what cinema used to be: Pure Passion!
Director? Where's your film?
@@ImJustRob. Exactly.
Man this is brilliant! This is what I want to see, not another lightsaber duel short film but actual xwings and tie fighters... Just need the Falcon now!
Those 20 minutes held my attention for longer than any of the Disney stuff 😂
This is one of the most empathetic and relatable Darth Vader stories ever told. I want to thank you. This fan film was my therapy for the day🙂💪
Thank you for giving me hope in myself and reminding me that there is always a light in us we forget about. Thank you for this materpiece❤️
Empire:How much Star destroyer you want.
Me: ok
MOR!
@@HoldenHardman Nice fan film. Watching your stuff for a few years now. Wish your family all the best. And may the force be with you.
@@HoldenHardmanThe more the better but in this scenario I would only need The Devastator
THIS IS AMAZING AND SHOULD BE A MOVIE!!! GIVE THIS MAN A BIG BUDGET FOR A FILM
Loved the writing and production. Haven’t seen space dogfights this good since Battlestar Gallactica. Thank you from my heart and mind.
Lucas, eat your heart out! Ya'll noted it! All of you! Fantastic job! Sincerely-Star Wars Forever
At this point, I'm not sure if saying something is "better than Disney" is actually a compliment, but this is better than Disney.
Beat me to it. LOL
C-SPAN is better than Disney
This was by far the best fan film I've ever seen. Well done
The fact that it's filmed to resemble the original trilogy won me over. Fantastic job.
Ok. I haven’t watched this channel in a very long time and it recently came to mind. Before I went searching for Holden’s most recent video, this video popped up in my feed and though I’m terrified by this “algorithm” reading my mind, I’m still grateful because this was a wonderful story. I could really see it was written through the lens of a Christ follower and was so moved by the climactic light vs dark scene. Thank you! 🙏🏻
Excellent! Well done! Keep up the great work.
Thanks a lot!
Nicely done. A worthy addition to SW fanfic lore. Thank you for your hard work in getting this made.
Excellent work, the force is strong with Holden. Happy Star Wars day!
