I am a hobbyist learning how to set up a solar charging station for me e-bike. At the end of this video you not only described what I am doing but also which room of the house that I was doing it in. Haha spot on. Tinkering in a spare room.

Totally agree, this is BY FAR the best review (and in any case the ONLY serious review out there) of the Hantek 2000 series devices... All other reviews on UA-cam are just presentations or only test the device in low frequencies below 1 MHz or 100 kHz, which of course has no interest and doesn't show thee true capabilities of the device. I myself own the 2C72 model (without the AWG part) and tested it using a small AD933 signal generator and thought at first the scope was faulty because it stopped correctly displaying sine or triangle waves above 8-10 MHz, but in fact after some research I read this was mainly due to the limits of the AD9833 chip that is advertised as a 12.5 MHz generator but can't really generate good waveforms above 5 MHz (it has an internal clock of 25 MHz so this explains that). Thanks to your review and your use of both analog and digital signal generators to test the device, and your gradual frequency increase run to test the bandwith within 3 dB, I can now see this device can actually cope with all its advertised range ypto 70 MHz and more, which is quite a surprise to me. However, as a handheld device I still prefer the ADS1013D with a 7" touchscreen that has much quicker autoset response and better functuonality (with display of Vpp and duty cycle signal properties) but unfortunately less sensitivity in 10x (only 500 mV resolution in 10x mode compared to 100 mV here).

@@laurentd9980 I'm torn between this model and the Fnirsi 1014D. Which one is better in your opinion? I keep flip flopping between them. I like the 7 inch screen but this one seems more accurate

    • @laurentd9980

@@3dsmaxrocks699 well, I was torn myself between the Hantek 2D42 (the 72 only adds a signal generator which I didn't need) and the Fnirsi 1013D (the '7-ich tablet scope, not the 1014D which is a table scope and seems nice too) and ended up buuying both. In the end the Fnirsi is much better and more useful, the Hantek is really a toy and its max frequency is really disappointing, above 10 MHz it loses all accuracy, its sampling is not fast enough. The Fnirsi 1013D is useful up to 2-25 MHz in my experience, so I would advise you to get either the 1013D or the 1014D which I didn't know and that seems quite good as well. Mind you, either Hantek or Fnirsi are note really professional brands and these devices arereally amateur grade in any case, don't expect them to be precise above 20 MHz.

@@3dsmaxrocks699 well I was torn myself between the Hantek 2C72 (te one without the generator) and the Fnirsi 1013D (the tablet-like 7-inch model, not the tabletop 1014D you mention that does look nice too) and ended up buying both. My initial tests seemed to show that the Hantek was useless above 10 MHz, and the Fnirsi ws much more reliable. In the end I'm not sure about the Hantek because in any case I much prefer using the Fnirsi 1013D as the screen is much better and it has many more functions. So I would advise you to get the Fnirsi model, but bear in mind neither of these models is professional stuff erally, so don't expect very accurate measures. Also pay attention to setting correctly 1X or 10X mode in the scope igf you use the probes in 1X or 10X mode.

at 14:18 you can actually change the amount of time the backlight is on for, even make it infinite. Menu 2/5 BL Time to infinite. Bunch of other settings in the various menus as well. Side note, You can actually press and hold the arrow keys to get places quicker as well.

Hantek have a bit of rep for producing low end scopes that are little more than toys, but this one looks quite useful, certainly for the price. Who needs XY mode anyway? I've been an electronics engineer since the early 80s and I've never used it.

It's one of those devices that will be great to get as a beginner but still be useful to have as you become more experienced due to its multifunction and portability. As you buy the more expensive benchtops counter parts it will stil be auseful tool to have when your mobile and don't want to lug all your equipment

The display is quite small about 2.4 inch diagonal, however it is perfectly legible, even for me with a poor eyesight getting worse with age (astigmatism + presbyopia / farsightedness) and quite bright too. You can also connect it to a PC through USB and have the display replicated on the PC screen, although the PC application is quite poor in functionality and the screen update frequency quite slow (about 1 frame/sec)

Can you manually use two cursors in this hand held scope, or have you other means to take manual messurements? For instance when I want to messure the time constant of an inductivity I would tune two cursors on the y-axis to the calculated differential voltage and then move the y-axis cursers into the intersection with the graph to get the differential time. Would such kind of messurement work with this.
