Thank you. I was able to "finally" get my scope working with my computer using the download in your link.

I bought this scope as my first scope 2 weeks ago, I am on a steep learning curve as you can imagine. I had heard bad reports about the software being slow to update and so had not downloaded it. After your review I will be down loading it and giving it a try. Please do as many of these videos as you like ...... I will watch them all. David

It is slow to update, but does (IMHO) add some useful features to the instrument.
I have a couple more videos on my channel showing it in use if that helps.

I'm very happy with mine and have had no problems with the latest firmware on it (no problem updating it to this either). A tip I can give other users: When recharging it leave the unit turned ON. It will actually recharge faster (seriously). Confirmed on an Engineer's forum.

just bought mine on sale for 70CDN (50USD) so I'm not going to complain about any shortcomings at that price. - doing some research/learning on it - thanks for this video. Apparently there are several homebrew mods for this scope as well.

This data logging feature is great for finding intermittent problems and parasitic drains.

In scan mode the paging is brutal. Roll mode is far better when dealing with very slow changing voltages. The measure function also offers far more options than the stand alone hand held Bill...Good Vid. Cheers...Ian

Two thumbs up for the video and for being in North Yorkshire!

It (2D72) does indeed load and work on two of my Win-10 PC's but my Win-XP and Vista PC's won't load the drivers. I suspect, based on various comments I've read, the issue involves 32 vs. 64 bit systems. My plan was to use one of three Win-XP notebook (9") PC's as a larger screen display, plus the notebooks would not take up much work-bench real estate, oh well...the scope easily triggered and displayed 50MHz sine and square waves from my AWG (Wavetek 166). BTW, Bill does a nice job with his presentations.

They really need to make the software better. Looks like a freshman in college coded it.

Great review, thanks. I'm planning to get an oscilloscope myself too, my main use would be measuring frequency responses. Do you think it would be possible with this one somehow easily? I see that there is no option to sweep with the signal generator, but if somehow the software could automatically store the Vpp and frequency values of both channels, then I could easily build a little function in Excel...

How fast of a scope do you need to measure spi data and apa102 addressable led data?

On the 2D72 the software update time is inexcusable! Even after upgrading to the latest firmware using Hantek's DfuSe tool. The software will crash under some Time/Div settings. Absolutely horrible. Too bad I bought it years ago, so its impossible to return, lol

Bit of a late comment but I think you'd be better off with a Logic Analyzer for automotive Can Bus... Something like the DSLogic Plus.

Interesting tool. As for the data logging can you for example hook the device to the AC circuit and log voltages overnight? Also, I have heard you should not use the device while it is connected to power as in Charging is this correct?

    • @LockdownElectronics

Not tried a long data grab, theoretically it should be capable of that kind of application.

Am I missing something? Is there really no way to transfer PRE-RECORDED scope data to a computer???? If not, I am extremely surprised, and annoyed.

No - I'm not missing anything. It can't be done. I would not have dreamt in a million years. I regret the purchase.
