This video was exactly what I needed. We recently bought a house with an NXR range and the oven wouldn’t stay at the correct temp. I listened to your video and I realized the problem was the igniter. I replaced the igniter and the oven works great now! Thanks for posting this video!

Does the ignitor need to stay on the entire time that heat is demanded in order for the safety valve to stay open? Wouldn't it be more efficient to use a flame sensor like a water heater?

For some gas ovens, the temperature will always be wrong. This is because the manufacturer has printed the temperature gradients on the fascia in the wrong positions. In this case you can do one of three things: 1) reprint the fascia with the temperature gradients in the correct location, 2) generate a temperature look up table that tallies up with the gradients on the fascia, 3) Monitor temperature with a temperature probe and adjust as required.

@user-kp1po5uf8b No, i'm an engineer. Or at least that's what i tell people. Like most domestic appliance manufacturers, cooker makers don't really know what they are doing, so i've tried to offer an explanation as to how to solve the problem.
