Watching UA-cam at work I don’t log in there, literally moved to my phone to like the video and comment here. One of the best reviews I’ve seen online. Goes to prove content quality is more important than Fancy filming and this is why I love UA-cam.
Great bug out gun. It has a ton of uses. I have one its goes on every road trip, camping trip, and it stays next to the bed. Best 100 I have ever spent ..
Thank you I'm currently in the works for doing a few other videos and reviews before returning back to my general tools I try to give everything a good run around why would you use it how would you use it if there is anything I can ever improve on though please be sure to let me know and thanks for watching
single shot are excellent backup guns as they are simple but for home defence and if the option was available i would go a semi always. This is based on the rapid engagement of multiple threats as you want volume fire when dealing with more than 2 bad-guys. Your mantra should always
I hate to say too much on UA-cam and lose my rights to these things but my gun safes are easily accessed and every gun in there has a different set of bullets for a different particular situation it's really just a question of how I identify the threat and then how I decide to neutralize I like that motto though I wonder if you mind if I could use it
@@honesttoolreviews6444 No probs chief use that motto as you like as it was the words of our Instructor in back in the 80s. Another consideration you may want to follow up on is keep only the guns that use ammo that is common as dirt cheap to feed avoid those exotics as another thing we were taught was commonality is king.
There’s a really good technique you can employ with shotguns which allows you to shorten the amount of barrel poking out in front of you. If you turn the gun side ways and place the flat of the stock on top of your shoulder while pressing down upon it with your cheek you’ll shorten your silhouette and make it easier to maneuver inside. Couple this with shorty shells as you’ve pointed out and you don’t have much recoil and are now much more maneuverable in your house.
May look into one I have a Ria meriva pump and love it I currently have a midland arms backpacker I shoot my mini shells out of it kick like a mule with 2 3/4 shells but fun gun so far
I bought the 20ga version of this shotgun for my 2 oldest grandsons. Apparently, the 20ga only comes in what RIA describes as 'slug choke' (CYL choke).
Hello I was just wondering what is the legal limit that you can cut the barrel down to 🤔,let me know something okay,I would Appreciate it very much if you can okay thanks
Great review top notch!! I just bought this one so I can shoot sabot slugs and rifled slugs out this? and not ruin my barrel? And what choke do I use I got lost on the chokes! Lol"... one choke says full other says modified other one says cylinder...lol I'm lost. This Editing was done on December 3rd I contacted the company you can use the cylinder choke with the five stars on it with steel and lead slugs....
@@williamiverson903 Thanks for replying! My daughter got me this for Christmas you can't beat the price 104 bucks!! And three chokes comes with it makes it even a better deal I'm very happy with it plus I'm getting back aches carrying my 870 out in the field this Rock Island makes it a easy walk for any game you want love it!
I know I am responding terribly late I have gone through a bit of a divorce situation with children involved that being said it's a good standard to generally check your Barrel if the barrel does not have threads or rifling marks inside of it then it has no thread pitch with no thread pitch and no rifling you can shoot most anything out of it although there are slugs designed for rifled barrels do not shoot those through a Smooth Bore I'm being told that you shoot regular slugs through Smooth Bore and that the rifled ones are specifically for rifled shotgun barrels you wouldn't shoot anything made of steel out of a rifled bore shotgun mine is a Smooth Bore so I don't really have too much to worry about Just A good rule of thumb for the future for all shotguns although I'm sure I'm way too late on this particular one thanks for watching them
@@honesttoolreviews6444 Sorry to hear about the troubles your going through....Thanks for giving me the information on this subject and your not late at all... I haven't shot anything out this shotgun yet but I have been buying every darn shell I see!! 😂 I did email Rock Island and the rep told me to just use my improved choke for lead slugs & they even said I can use sabot slugs with that choke but they did not tell me not to use the sabot slugs that are for rifled barrels so I'm glad you told me the information.. I bought some sabot slugs that say for rifled barrels..Thanks for the reply and hope you found better times there ain't nothing easy about your situation. ☮️
HTR you have that backwards regarding slugs. Rifled slugs are designed to give themselves a little spin from a smooth bore. Whereas sabots need barrel rifling to spin them. A smooth projectile from a smooth bore won't have any stability causing it to tumble through the air and veer off course.
I deff want one of these. I want to maki it a "survival" shot gun. As far as home defense definitely a no. Todays criminals are bot running and they are using teams with long guns. I mean if you have no choice yea sure. But this is a death sentence if a team kicks your door open.
I currently have Acquired and our field testing the Mossberg 500 I keep hearing so famous words about I will try to get my hands on a 870 when everyone stops Panic buying anything that I managed to get my hands on now is a miracle
2 3/4 inch #1 Buck is the best overall 12 gauge defensive load. If you can't find #1 buck, use 8 or 9 pellet 00 buck. (Preferably one of the reduced recoil loadings.) If you live in an apartment, have family living with you, or are just generally concerned with overpenetration or blasting through walls if you miss, #4 buck is the answer. Turkey loads work well at close range if you have a hard time finding buckshot in general. (They kick hard though)
7.5 or 8 skeet loads. Yes I'm serious! Absolutely devastating on intruders within home defense distances but will dump it's energy on the first thing it hits. Buckshot will go through multiple walls risking collateral damage!
brother saying there is no safety is just wrong when you load and close the breech it will not fire until you pull the hammer back that is the safety but even at that all guns are only as safe as the user. we are the safety
When I first got that gun the very first shot I got a squirrel. It was a pretty good range that Aisha armadillo shot cans. It’s a good shotgun. I do have some misfires with it, but it could just be the cheap Emma that I bought because it was only 12 dollars

Mini shells and shotgun adapters are why I prefer single shot shotguns
That was probably the best review of a gun I have ever seen on UA-cam.......I have this gun also and you really did a great review.....thanks

Got one in layaway, decided to go ahead and get it, been trying to decide
Your video helped me decide
Thnx so much for your insight
happy to help, sorry responding has been tough while i been setting up my new rooms i had moved. please do let us all know how you like it

I bought one yesterday goin to use it for turkey hunting this year and take it every time I go camping
Mini shells can be fired through a pump action with a simple adaptor from OPsol, the mossberg 590s cycles them without mods

Great video explaining everything that I needed to know about single shot gun ! 👍
Not Reeyuh!! RIA stands for Rock Island Arms!!
I would love double barrel version
Did you build your own gun rack. I’d like more info to build one myself.
RIA means Rock Island Armory.

Cylinder bore choke for rifled slugs. Sabots wont hurt anything but wont spin without barrel rifling so will be horribly inaccurate.

It’s great for clays honestly not competitive or anything just with buddies they couldn’t believe it was only $119
They make shoulder recoil pads to wear for shooting harsh recoiling guns !!
Does it have a sb1 or sb2 receiver I'm wanting a shotgun that i can use a 45-70 adaptor
Dang man thag short thing must kick a friggin punch
Would say go with something differant for a first time shooter. Kicks like crazy. 20g.

Is rattling in the Fore end normal?
I think that ria is rock island armory in PahrumpNv pronounced pa-rump.i currently live here
Git a Remington 870 , will cycle different lengths of ammo

Ria is short for rock Island arms !
I am sure you can hunt with the barrel though if need be.
It does have a cross bolt safety .
Mine does not!!
Mine came with the buttstock extensions installed no kit.
It would be more perfect if it was a single trigger side by side..... But that's none of my business
brother saying there is no safety is just wrong when you load and close the breech it will not fire until you pull the hammer back that is the safety but even at that all guns are only as safe as the user. we are the safety
Where to purchase?
Which choke are you using to shoot slugs?
Use the improved cylinder choke
I think you forgot to say this gun can be break and carry in a backpack , ,,,,,,,,
Oh yeah, how much is that shotgun
Rock island armory
Good for home defense but not hunting you say ?
Stange, I'd say just the opposite considering...
It's my toilet gun😂
single shot is a bad choice for defense
I got a single shot Stevens for 150 bucks
you always call the hammer trigger on all your videos.lol
This is a back pack gun
Its rock island armory imports.
No they are not imports they are made in Turkey
@@garysh3580 if it isnt made in the USA it's an import. And rock island armory is the importer.
Extentions between the buttstalk and buttplate
You might want to study up before you make a video.
