I’m closer than ever to an identifiable personal style… not perfect, but getting there… “60s inspired quirky” 😂 It’s been about accepting what I love and not getting bogged down in what others may or may not think. These are GREAT tips
@@jarodorla6949 Great question! Your skin tone is what you see on the surface of the skin. It changes when you tan/burn etc. We can say a person has light/fair skin or dark skin. Skin undertone is what sits beneath the skin. This does not change throughout your life. It can be a little harder to identify if you don't know what you are looking for. We can say that a person has a cool, warm or neutral undertone. :)
I really appreciated this video. Such a refreshing approach to finding your style! Last year I added a couple of crisp white cotton button down shirts to my wardrobe because everyone says that that's a basic, especially if you're a classic which I have figured out that I am. But I never wore them. Why is that? Because I'm a natural classic and a shirt that feels crisp on my body is not as comfortable as a blouse that drapes over me softly. So simple now that I understand it! No more shirts for me. But I sure love my blouses!
That's great to hear Kathy. It's funny how this is not immediately obvious until it is pointed out and then it's like the penny drops! Glad to hear you have a good understanding of your preferences!
What I had to learn is that only because something looks amazing on me it doesn’t mean I’m also comfortable wearing it. I’m a very tall soft dramatic women with curves and I look very good in tightfitting clothes. It’s easy for me to look very womanly but I don’t like the effect ! I love to look casual and I actually prefer baggy pants and crop tops + oversized pullovers even though they objectively are not the best for my body type. Style is also about personality and what side of you you want to convey to others, I want to communicate fun and approachability rather than beauty sensuality or grace even though I could do that quite easily with my body shape. The style journey has made me more aware of that. My beauty is a gift that I can enjoy for myself but it’s more important to me to tell others about my character first, they can find out about my body later :D
I don't have many clothes, as never find things I actually like. But I have a casual summer jacket that I love, its pistachio green, with hood by Michael Kors, bought in the sale. The colour is one of my best, the style is casual, but edgey still, and the shape suits my tall, hourglass figure, with drawstring waist and longer length to mid thigh. The slightly silky material is flattering and feminine for such a casual garment, but works in sudden showers. I also have two pairs of brightish navy linen palazzo pants that I wear in hot weather that I love. They are a flattering cut, the linen is cool and they work with different colour top and my wider hips, small waist, as well as being high waisted, which I need as I have a long rise. The jacket and the trousers are the only two things I actually like, I could lose the rest and not be bothered (except for nothing to wear!). But finding things this flattering that I am happy with, in the shops, never, never really happens.
