First day of testing after the new year. The train manages to make one pass at 165 (3:39) before encountering a number of issues that slow the train down and ultimately result in testing ending prematurely after only one and a half round trips.
Additionally, we see an Amtrak lite engine move, NJT equipment move, and a 1-car Dinky. Enjoy =)
That diesel and single car was moving!
I don’t think I’ve ever seen a GP40 move that fast. Wikipedia says they have a maximum rated speed of 105 MPH, but it feels like it was moving faster than even that!
Now that is what you call a high speed train
Man. I just love those old NJ transit single level budd cars in the beginning. :)
These are not Budd cars, they are Arrow III EMUs
@@edisonz2006 They weren’t built by Budd either. They will built by General Electric and Avco.
Are they usually that long during COVID? I understand and appreciate the space for social distancing but are there really that many people taking NJ Transit on the NEC these days? I just imagine it's incredibly expensive.
That train is so incredibly fast! On another note: it really looks well-constructed, state-of-the-art, and with all of the specifics taken into account, it should prove to be revolutionary advancement in American Railroads!
6:53 wow that gp38 went flying
it sure did
This is GP40PH-2B NJT 4200 (Ex-Penn Central 3206 GP40)
Absolutely loving the content! Really hoping I can get out to the NEC this summer to get some shots of the Avelia Liberty in service!
Won't be in service until October
I love the sound at 7:34 lol
tbh i love this trains they finally are starting with a new era!
im from italy i love that type of trains my favourite is not the acela but the amtrak with amfleets
grretings from italy
If you notice the white mask and blue sweatshirt that was me. Nice to catch it
timestamp?
@@filgiupo4853 11:02 mark.
I'm jealous of your awesome trains in the NEC. Greetings from Poland
You are from Europe and you are jealous?

7:26 sounds like a ghost coming through
Avelia Liberty: I am speed
GP40 at 6:50 - I am 4 parallel universes ahead of you
Still hoping for some kind of multi-chime horn for the Avelias, but I'm not holding out hope.
Same, no train in America should have that kind of terrible horn, besides, you probably can’t even hear it
@@The_Actual_MS It’s because they couldn’t fit a 5-chime horn like the K5LA and they could barely fit that 2-chime horn.
@@hytale-cmb3238 I read somewhere that Amtrak is changing the horns on the Avelia so I'm holding out hope that they actually follow through.
how do you find out when the tests are happening?
Wish I could have saw it when I went out like a month or two ago, great video! P.S If you want to see it parked pass by 30th street in philly and 9/10 it will be there
2:30 Wow was that a one-car Arrow III? Neven seen that before!
Any time I see a 1-car passenger train like that moving under its own power, I get Pelham 123 vibes.
I’d like the flashing lights
Thats the sound im looking for. that Proper High Speed Rail sounds.
Many people still ask the following question: What causes the wonderful and unique WOO WOO sound of the Eurostar E300 train? Is the sound caused by those small roofs, located at the end of the top of each car ???
What were the issues it encountered if you know what they were?
You’ve gotta listen to this with some air pod pros.
Man!!!! How cool was that!!!!!!!!
Northeast Regional stops at Newark Penn Station Newark Liberty International Airport Metropark New Brunswick Princeton Junction and Trenton?
High speed thrills!
6:48
Woa.
Hello, is that a bullet train? This seems like an interesting place for rail fanning. Very similar to Chicago.
Obviously shot at an off-peak time, but still sad to see those mostly empty trains and station platform. These are hard times indeed for Amtrak.
Amtrak is not alone, every company and corporation is suffering.
I googled the Realease Date for the New acela to Enter Service a few days ago and the Release date was 2021 Scheduled to enter service in the Northeast Corridor in 2021 has it entered service yet ???
No but its scheduled to enter in a few months or so if the testing goes to plan.
October 2021
Cool
5:22 wow don’t usually see ALP45 dp on NEC past Rahway
I wonder why Alstom didn't use distributed power on this train like they do for the Italo AGV and make the power cars into coach cars.
Because Amtrak didn't want that.
@@FanRailer How do you know this?
.... Because that's how rolling stock procurements work. If Amtrak had wanted an EMU, they would have asked for one.
@@FanRailer I thought this train was an EMU.
This is not an emu an emu has power distributed along the cars this is not an emu this is an push pull train because they have loco's
