There are a lot of ways in which the police could have been alerted, which would have been faster, wouldn't temper with evidence and wouldn't cause potential property damage or risked peoples lives (they are in the middle of the 4th biggest city in europe and those bullets will come down at some point and hitting probably some structures and possibly some people)

Well firing blanks isn’t nearly as loud as live ammunition, breaking the sound barrier is what makes the loud echoing crack that carries over distance. Blanks just kind of pop and are difficult to hear in a city even a couple hundred meters away, these were edited over with what tv shows think ammunition sounds like, as obviously for a show they use special props that fire special blanks that are even quieter so hearing protection isn’t necessary, which again is only really necessary with live supersonic ammo. Celebratory gunfire is dangerous when people don't point straight up, but in an arch. Depending on how flat that arch is the bullet may come down with significant enough horizontal velocity to kill or injure. But if it's just falling down it will rarely cause significant damage

Celebratory gunfire is dangerous when people don't point straight up, but in an arch. Depending on how flat that arch is the bullet may come down with significant enough horizontal velocity to kill or injure. But if it's just falling down it will rarely cause significant damage

He ruined many good characters and their arcs (ex. Irene Adler). The last season especially was just ridiculous.
