I tried doing this painting as my very first ever. I really didn't think it would be this hard. I've watch so many videos to learn as much as I can. But out of 3 tries I failed bad every time. All my colors mixed together. I'm not really sure how to apply paint to the brush properly. I was confident before I started and it all went out the window yesterday. But I will try again tonight... wish me luck. I love all your videos bybthe way. Great tips and trick I just wish I can actually do it properly.
I always tell everyone, Your first 10 paintings are gunna suck! ha ha ha You can't expect it to be perfect the first time. The best tip I can give is paint it again... Just found your Wild4Games and watched a bunch of your wet on wet videos, then found this channel and glad i did. Way back in the early 90's i'd watched every video of Bob Ross on PBS and just knew i wanted to try my hand at his style of painting, so i bought his master kit. Well to be blunt my clouds looked like mush and my mountains looked like boobs. All i had to learn from was his videos and books, no internet back then for me, but i now know if i had your videos to learn from back then i'd be a master by now. So thanks to finding your channels i'm going to give it another try using your tips for doing it on the cheap to start out. Thank you for sharing your knowledge it means more than you know to this old man.
Thanks for finding both my channels. No joke if you binge a few of my videos on this channel and give it another go. I know you will start to see awesome improvements 💪
Hey, I know this is an older lesson, but it’s really helpful. I was wondering about your palette. Did you paint the back grey? If so, do you have a video on palettes? This would be really helpful to a newbie like me. Peace and blessing 🌺
A quick question if I may? You need to add M white/lie seed to thin out before adding highlights to say a bush. that is done due to paint thickness? yes? How come I am not seeing paints getting diluted over and over just to keep up with how many times said color is getting on top of another?. so when placing bushes on top of land, or a tree, or on top of what ever it needs to be placed on. am I not seeing when the said tree/ bark stem. and leaves are thinned out?. was that paint thinned out as well? I am a little lost. I have seen your vids you take paint from yada, yada and yada mixed them then placed o canvases. but I only see some paints having to be thinned out before going on top on other paint. I do under stand that thin paint can stick to thick. but not vise versa. I am an old man learning a new hobby. so I am a little confused. thanks.
Your question is too hard to answer for a UA-cam comment ha ha ha - but from my personal experience.... You have to have vision of what you will paint. This way you can plan ahead know where your layers will be. This will help you avoid adding too much paint in places... making it easier to build layers. You will see a lot of new painters dilute or add to much paint... What Bob calls a mud mixer ha ha ha
hope you do some more wine wednesday vids. i wanted to learn oil paints specifically for relaxing landscape/sunsets like this. and by this i mean the painting & the drinking of alcohol while doing it :) got a sub from me
Hello! Thank you! If you don't mind, I have a few questions:Please let me know what type of easel aluminum or wood? Which is best canvas for selling? Canvas or canvas boards? I am new to acrylic painting...but guess that is obvious.
When it comes to an easel, dont worry about what it is made out of. Think about what style will best fit your needs and size for the canvases you will be working on. Both canvas and canvas boards are great for selling ( both have positive and negatives, like size and expensive and shipping costs) If you are just starting out... Best advice I can give is go slow, practice a lot, and have fun. The rest will fall into place.
Hey wild really enjoyed this painting tutorial. I’ll be giving this a go! Do think you should do more wine Wednesdays lol as well as painting tutorials as they really help especially for me as a brand new painter
I plan on doing more a lot more of them - Just been super busy with work so its hard to find enough time to film one and of course drinks :P More to come soon
Its both - The canvas has a gesso layer that is already dried on it. Then you apply a thing coat of liquid white on top of it. From there add your colors. Hope that helps.
hey, could you do like with the tape just the top part then remove the tap and start touching the bottom of the top part to make it better or is it better to just fill in that huge gap between tape?

Hi, I am new to oil painting and I just tried yours. I had a few issues. Firstly I am using water mixable oil and I found that I could not blend anything to make it soft and fluffy. Firstly it would not blend at all so I painted back over it with liquid white and started again. Sorry to be a pain. Can you please tell me if it’s ok to start the painting , stop, and come back to it another day ?? Because it’s wet on wet I am not sure. I look forward to your answer I want to do a second one of this one. Love it. Love your work.

I haven't done a fuill video on it yet BUT I highly recommend using Golden Open Acrylics ( They stay wet longer ): - Colors: geni.us/GoldenOpenPainsts - White: geni.us/GoldenOpenWhite I have also done a few acrylic recipes that you can take a look at below ( they have other mediums you might enjoy ): - 3 Mediums: ua-cam.com/video/nI5D-HC7e5o/v-deo.html - Acrylic Liquid White: ua-cam.com/video/uOZACe0v_Do/v-deo.html Last you can see my buddy Tally walk you through a landscape painting done in Acrylics here: - Tutorial: ua-cam.com/video/LFqd-jj1lQ8/v-deo.html
You would just work in smaller sections with acrylics due to the drying times. I have more acrylic tutorials coming out in the next month or so. Hey Wild! Great looking painting. I think I'll try this one tomorrow but I wanted to add a little bit more of something to make it a bit more complex. Any ideas?
Sure do - the two easiest elements you can add in are more distinct white cap waves near the mid and foreground. You can also add rocks in the foreground with water splashing on them and white-water going around them. Hope that helps
@@WildCreates Thanks for the advice! I like the calm sea you've created, but I might add some gentle waves - I watched a video by Bill Alexander where he created great waves (very stormy though - ua-cam.com/video/QmLJa3Q5cRY/v-deo.html ) but I might try and adapt something from that :)
Thanks for this video, I did my very first painting following this video! How long does it take to dry? 2 days later and mine is still not completely dry. Also, when completely dry do you add anything on top to preserve it? Thanks!!
If you used oil - It will take a few weeks to dry... even a few months if you added a lot of paint and layers too it. Yes, you can add a Varnish coat to the top of it when its all dry. This video here should help you with the process and what to do. - Varnish: ua-cam.com/video/mZfZ1V8g2VE/v-deo.html
I talk about the palette in these two videos here. Plus links in the video description on where you can get it. Palette: ua-cam.com/video/5IVxt6381z0/v-deo.html Customize It: ua-cam.com/video/RGbvgutjWBI/v-deo.html
Tried this one tonight for my very first painting. I think I had the under colors to thick and not enough open space to blend appropriately. And clouds suck. Do you have been send their versions to you?
Best advice I can give is "Do it again". sounds like you know what mistakes you made soooo paint it again and adjust :) You will be surprised at how much better the 2nd one will be. You can always tweet of IG your painting to me - I love to look at them.
Hi I am new to your Channel and I am really enjoying it!! I did some oil paintings a year ago and now they are kinda dusty, How can I wipe the dust off without ruining them and also is it too late to Varnish? Thanks so much!!
Most can be cleaned up with a father duster and a clean micro fiber rag. Just be very soft when touching the painting ( so you don't damage it). If you get it clean enough to your liking, Yes you can Varnish it. Take a look at this video for an easy why to do it: Varnish: ua-cam.com/video/mZfZ1V8g2VE/v-deo.html
not sure which ones you mean BUT I do have a few. I will link them below if you wanna check it out. Abstract: ua-cam.com/video/PPXTqH14iQg/v-deo.html Pour Playlist: ua-cam.com/play/PL1j4vqU7W_o1G87W4lautpOJpT8E1xpYK.html
Prior to adding your cadmium yellow to your brush before you start painting, it looks like you already have white paint on your brush..is this in fact the case, or am I seeing things? Haha
Tes... I re-use dirty brushes all the time. To help save time on clean up. In the example you ask here - I used liquid white to cover my canvas then left the brush dirty (aka I left the white on the bristles) then mixed it with Cad Yellow. Hope that makes sense for you!
No Prob - glad to help you out. If you like that tutorial I am sure you will you will love this 3 minute painting below - Feel free to check it out! ua-cam.com/video/v7NmTKcUZtw/v-deo.html
Hi I just found wild4games last night. I’m a new painter and was watching your video on trees. Can you please post the more advanced with different trees. Also if you can do a video on land. I have trouble after I have my Mountains and trees my land looks like crap. Lol. I just can’t seem to get it. I’ll post a picture. The picture is after I scraped it off because it looks so bad. Thank you these. I have been watching Bob Ross vids but you explain in more detail which gives me a better understanding. I really appreciate it. I don’t know how to submit a picture but I will figure it out and post it in a bit. Thanks again.
You can pretty much use any colors your want..... Look at some reference photos online to get an idea of what might work for your style. Feel free to have fun with it. Happy Painting!
Wild Creates thank you so much just started to watch you videos. Love them. I actually want to make this painting but I don’t have violet as you mentioned in your pallet.
LEAVE THE TAPE OFFF!!!! I loved this once I retried it but the tape made me accidentally screw it up adding paint after removing it… I had to scrap and on the 3rd attempt with no tape I’m satisfied. Of course I think mine blows compared to yours WILD- but I’m loving your tutorials… getting better but man this is harder than learning guitar lol… l appreciate your stuff!!!❤❤🎉
Also I cheated and used a bit of ultra marine and pth blue since I’m an ole pud and scared of pth blue… lol… 😂😂😂… ok I’ll put a pic on instagram. Irk.. lol
Tried this and had an epic failure. Got the colors on and when I went to blend with the 2 inch brush it went to hell quickly. I think I had too much paint on the canvas. Always heard a mistake new people do is not using enough paint so I tried not to do that and probably went the other way.
Ha ha ha - Well the good news is you got to learn from the painting. Its always easy to start with a little paint and add more BUT its super hard when you add too much paint at the start (cause you can't take away easily) I would say paint it again - you will be surprised at how well the 2nd one comes out :)
I finally got a chance to try this one and made a couple of boo boos. First one was my coat of cloud color was too thick I believe and that coupled with accidently mixed in some Magic White to my cloud color caused severe cross contamination issues which showed up pretty much immediately. Soooo, will try again later and follow your directions much more closely (lol) and be less generous with the paint...especially the blue, WOW!!!! AND the wine! I FORGOT THE WINE! LMAO Thanks again for all your great instruction Wild! I'll send a pic of the "next one"!
Never anything wrong with THICC Clouds 😜 Yeah blue is super powerful BUT good news is now you know. So going forward you will be good and aware of it. Wine is always a must, in fact its my greatest tool in my painting tool bag 😜
@@WildCreates Right! I learn a LOT every painting. I'm really finding out how little you need for laying your sky down and it's amazing! Thanks again for what you do Wild! :-)
Its the base coat you put down on your canvas to make your colors blend on the canvas. This video here will show you a great example: ua-cam.com/video/ZpI0Rz6XpcU/v-deo.html
@@WildCreates ok. Thx for the encouragement. The videos r great and learning a lot from you guys on this channel.. switching from acrylic to oil is definitely a challenge but exciting!!!!

you are copying the other painter that has to drink wine and paint, you would do better to drop the wine and concentrate on painting, you might do better...will never watch your rediculous BS again!

Is the liquid white gesso or regular acrylic white ??? Confused
Its both - The canvas has a gesso layer that is already dried on it. Then you apply a thing coat of liquid white on top of it. From there add your colors.
Hope that helps.

I haven't done a fuill video on it yet BUT I highly recommend using Golden Open Acrylics ( They stay wet longer ):
- Colors: geni.us/GoldenOpenPainsts
- White: geni.us/GoldenOpenWhite
I have also done a few acrylic recipes that you can take a look at below ( they have other mediums you might enjoy ):

Can’t find your links. Please do more. You are so good.
All my links are in the video description below the video player 💪
Omg bob ross pop vinylssss
They are the best - you should get one for sure
Is there a way you could have an acrylic “equivalent” of how to do this?
You would just work in smaller sections with acrylics due to the drying times. I have more acrylic tutorials coming out in the next month or so. Make sure to hit the sub button to know when they drop.
But until then, here is all the acrylic videos I have done that should help you out: ua-cam.com/play/PL1j4vqU7W_o14Z_YPytXuYhgBtJUwEBSj.html
Hi Wild! Do you put gesso first before you put liquid white?
Yup. Put a nice layer or two of gesso down, let it dry. Then you can add your liquid base on top 👍
Go for it buddy
Thanks for this video, I did my very first painting following this video! How long does it take to dry? 2 days later and mine is still not completely dry. Also, when completely dry do you add anything on top to preserve it? Thanks!!
If you used oil - It will take a few weeks to dry... even a few months if you added a lot of paint and layers too it.
Yes, you can add a Varnish coat to the top of it when its all dry. This video here should help you with the process and what to do.

@@WildCreates I used oils so at least I know what to expect now! Thank you so much and I will check out the link above!!
where can i buy that palette
I talk about the palette in these two videos here. Plus links in the video description on where you can get it.

Tried this one tonight for my very first painting. I think I had the under colors to thick and not enough open space to blend appropriately. And clouds suck. Do you have been send their versions to you?
Best advice I can give is "Do it again". sounds like you know what mistakes you made soooo paint it again and adjust :)
You will be surprised at how much better the 2nd one will be.
You can always tweet of IG your painting to me - I love to look at them.
@@WildCreates thanks for the advice. I had sent you a DM on IG of my attempt.
I just got back from a little vaca so Catching up on all things - Those I will check on soon :)
Will gin and tonic work the same 😆 as red wine
OH it will.... I have tested it 😂😂😂
Hi I am new to your Channel and I am really enjoying it!!
Take a look at this video for an easy why to do it:

@@WildCreates Thank you!! You're Awesome!! 🤗🤗
Love these tutorials! Please do some on the abstracts in the background. Thank you!!

Thanks for the tutorial. I made this painting and it turned out well. Happy new year!
Awesome - I am glad to hear that.
Guess i will have to come out with another one soon so you can paint that one too :)
pls pls do more of these
I plan on it
Just gotta think what will be a good wine and paint to share next :)
You are so funny 😁
Thank you 😁
Prior to adding your cadmium yellow to your brush before you start painting, it looks like you already have white paint on your brush..is this in fact the case, or am I seeing things? Haha
Tes... I re-use dirty brushes all the time. To help save time on clean up.
In the example you ask here - I used liquid white to cover my canvas then left the brush dirty (aka I left the white on the bristles) then mixed it with Cad Yellow.
Hope that makes sense for you!
@@WildCreates thank you for the clarity! Wonderful tutorial :)
No Prob - glad to help you out. If you like that tutorial I am sure you will you will love this 3 minute painting below - Feel free to check it out!

I will see what I can do in a future video to help you out with all the subjects
Lol I can tell you were drinking. Especially at the end.
Its a Wine Wednesday after all 😜
What can I use instead of the violet ?
You can pretty much use any colors your want..... Look at some reference photos online to get an idea of what might work for your style.
Feel free to have fun with it. Happy Painting!
Wild Creates thank you so much just started to watch you videos. Love them. I actually want to make this painting but I don’t have violet as you mentioned in your pallet.
Go for it - You can take some red and add a tiny bit of blue and some white and that will get ya close :)
Wild Creates thank you so much. Will do this 👍🏻😊
OK so I can’t figure out how to send you a picture of my painting sorry😥
twitter or Instagram is best.
My socials are in the video discription
Where's the next tutorial for this series? Need more...
Here is the playlist with the ones I have done ( ua-cam.com/video/rJp5_BalJtM/v-deo.html )
More to come soon :)
Wild: Grab a bottle of wine!
Me: :/ I'm 13
Grab that juice box then 😜
@@WildCreates haha
Mine was awful. Not bad so I tried to make it better and...I used acrylic paint. Was that a part of the problem
Acrylics are a different process with this style. I will see what I can do to show you how to use acrylics this way in a future video.
I would so appreciate that. Thank s
No Prob Glad to help 💪
Mine ended up not so good either 😩
Its always easy to start with a little paint and add more BUT its super hard when you add too much paint at the start (cause you can't take away easily)
I would say paint it again - you will be surprised at how well the 2nd one comes out :)
LMAO
Thanks again for all your great instruction Wild! I'll send a pic of the "next one"!
Never anything wrong with THICC Clouds 😜
Yeah blue is super powerful BUT good news is now you know.
@@twinflamedivinefire59 Now you know and knowing is half the battle (G.I. JOE) he he he!
What is magic art liquid white
Its the base coat you put down on your canvas to make your colors blend on the canvas.
This video here will show you a great example: ua-cam.com/video/ZpI0Rz6XpcU/v-deo.html
on this tutorial , how hard would it be to add dolphins,
To be honest I have never painted a dolphin 😝. But adding something like a fin or tail sticking up out of the water would be hard to add
But I'm not 21 ;-;
Then its time to bust out the Capri Suns Bro 💪
Do more plz
I plan on it buddy - Stay tuned :)
U talk so much.... So does ur brush.... Worth to 👀 see. Thnx
Thanks for checking it out & I hope you give it a try.
Ile get a 4 pack of stella
why stop at a 4 pack when you can get a 6 pack 😜
All mud
We all start with mud - I recommend, paint it again - I think you will be surprised at how good the 2nd attempt is.
@@WildCreates ok. Thx for the encouragement. The videos r great and learning a lot from you guys on this channel.. switching from acrylic to oil is definitely a challenge but exciting!!!!
I am glad my videos can help you out.
Wine gives me headaches
Just a suggestion - Go with what you enjoy most.

Glad to help
FRENCH BREAD 🤣🤣🤣
Glad I can make ya giggle :P
you are copying the other painter that has to drink wine and paint, you would do better to drop the wine and concentrate on painting, you might do better...will never watch your rediculous BS again!
Copying.... of course I am not the first to drink wine & paint and I will not be the last. Its an extremely popular thing. You would do better to drop your attitude, relax and enjoy the video and the advice I give. Because I am sure the advice will help ya. If its not your taste that's fine! It is very easy to find another artist here on YT. There are many wonderful ones and I recommend you look around
