Pantera debuted their signature sound with ‘Cowboys From Hell’ and invigorated the metal scene with raucous hits “Walk,” “Cemetery Gates,” “5 Minutes Alone,” among many others. With the 1990 release of their album ‘Cowboys From Hell,’ Pantera created “power groove” and made them the heroes to headbangers everywhere. Their following album ‘Vulgar Display of Power’ was certified double platinum and widely acknowledged as one of metal’s most enduring masterworks. For the next decade, Philip Anselmo, “Dimebag” Darrell Abbott, Vinnie Paul, and Rex Brown continued to ascend to the top of the music world with gold and platinum album and home video releases and sold out arena tours. Crazy how this album still blows most heavy metal releases out of the water to this very day.
Not crazy at all..this is a True original Masterpiece.
@Elijah Boyd Why did SOAD just pop into my mind while reading your comment...
Generally, I am not a fan of metal. I prefer punk and classic rock. Bought this shit on cassette for like 5 bucks in like 1997. That first song hit so hard, I was hooked. Great album. Vulgar Display of Power on equal footing. If it were all this good, I would love metal.
@Elijah Boyd Thankfully I've never even heard of any of those besides Linkin Park...who I definitely agree...I don't even think about groups like that BECAUSE they're so corporate. Although lately I give Linkin a pass on a lot of my past judgment because of what C.B. was trying to bring light to at the end of his road. But, yeah, I concede a bit of my point....but STILL...compared to Pantera, SOAD sounds like Greenday to me...😆
@Elijah Boyd You're right...there IS no fight when stacked against Pantera. Like trying to pit a rabid chicken against a bear 😆
Still sounds fresh to this day
Always will!

KILLER record front to back. You can never go wrong with this one.
My favorite record of all time! Played it every day for years at bedtime.
bedtime? haha I was thinking to play it when i get up
Definitely!! Play this album loud as hell in a pitch black room is the shit
I'm broken is my favorite rip dimebag
This music pumps me up, but oddly enough, relaxes me when I go to sleep.
Every night before bed lie back and imagine you're the skull being driven
Pantera are and will always be the greatest metal band of all time.
Your right dude!
Damn right, Norman.
@PerryMaholland noob
@PerryMahollandbut they are heavier than Metallica 🤘
They are great but no 1 compares to SLAYER
Darrell was the best guitar player of all time period !! I am 65 yrs old and I can't help respect the way he played. He was without doubt the best and most creative that I have ever heard. God bless him and his brother ! Together they were an amazing combo!
Texas sure knows how to Rock and throw an after Party ,best local band I have ever seen. Who would have ever thought that the 90's would be the good old days that are missed forever.
Phil' s voice Is the best in metal history❤️
STRONGER THAN ALL
That’s right.

Stronger than hELL!!! YEAHH
Hard Lines Sunken Cheeks is the most underrated song of this album IMO, kicks so much ass 🤘
30 years of this masterpiece of pure Metal!!
This is my favorite Pantera record. It takes me back to a simpler time.
Это один из сильнейших альбомов в мире. Слушаю 29 лет. Звук , как они звучали!
100%,с 95 го слушаю,считаю его лучшим ихним альбомом,но люблю все ихние с 90
I personally consider this album as Pantera's peak
I consider the RTS, but this one comes in second to me, and TGSTK is the third and the heaviest!
@G B idk man, I think they fell off the mountain when they jumped from the peak of TGSTK
That would be Power Metal.
Vulgar is typing…..

Still head banging at 64. No bs 2023
@emilia Hello, how are you doing? It is nice meeting you here.
Big fan. The guitar solo in Hard Lines still brings me to tears to this day. The way Dime was able to sing from his heart and through the guitar is simply mindblowing and second to none.
Honestly, listening to this album now in 2023 in high quality monitors and excellent headphones, it seems very futuristic and current, a sound that goes beyond metal, a difficult concept to decipher even if it seems all explicit. Magnificent. Pantera have always been something more than they first seemed
2023... still no band can touch it...

The best !!! Hello from 90's!
Who has bought that on release? Remember this was around 30 years ago! And still kicking!!!
30 years today!!!! 🤘🏽🎂
The last time a real heavy album hit #1 on the charts. None are more deserving of the achievement than Pantera! The tribute (or whatever you may call it) tour next year is gonna be incredible as a younger fan of the band. Darrel passed on when I was only 3, no chance I could have seen them.
Must have been the heaviest album ever to take #1 spot... blows the Black Album away
I really want to get to see the tribute tour as I was a child as well when Dime passed, no chance of getting to see them that time, this tour is chance for the younger fans!
Just cause you don’t like it doesn’t mean its not real music
My favorite Pantera album! Luckily, I got to see this album played live in concert. 💪
13 times
me too, it was a milestone of my life
lucky you, I was a child back them, but looking forward for the tribute tour now, hope they still come to the U.K!
STRONGER THAN ALL !!!!! 💪🏼💪🏼
Easily my fav Pantera album!
The heaviest album known to mankind. Pantera forever!
the throes of rejection transition into planet caravan made me ascend
The Kings of Metal
🤘🏼⚜️🥃
I was a diehard Metallica fan until this album dropped. Dime helped me find appreciation for Something not Metallica because I had a closed mind about how Metal should sound. So Thank you Darrell and all the Pantera crew, including Ms. Rita, for keeping the Legacy alive ; )
Hell Yeah Brother, I second the motion🤘

Rock on Metallica and pantera
Greatest metal band of all time period! In my humble opinion.
BEST BAND IN THE UNIVERSE...just after SLAYER
What an album!!! I'm 36 and still listening to this masterpiece. April 2024 !
I'm Broken has always been my fav Pantera song ❤
Kings among men. Black Tooth Grin forever...STRONGER THAN ALL
There're no bands/records like this in today's music, 99% of new released metal has nothing to do against this raw power
Still crushing
remember hearing this at Planet Music at a listening station when it was released. most insane thing I ever heard.
This whole album is so goddamn good, and Shedding Skin is one of my favorite songs ever. Long live CFH.
I forgot just how good Shedding Skin was. Underrated tune

THIS ALBUM GOT ME FIRED FROM MY JOB!!! PANTERA FOREVER!!! 🤟🤟🤟
heck yeah, favourite album hands down
I've heard thousands of metal albums and I have no idea why, but if someone asks me what's the best metal album ever made this one comes to mind first, I'm not even a huge Pantera fan. Performance, amazing production, sound, compositions, energy, rawness and perfection at the same time, flawless album.
Respect bro
You've heard thousands of metal
albums? It's a Miracle you can tell them apart!
I know what you're going to say....
that you know what you're talking
about because you're a TRUE metal head. Well...I'm a knob

about knobs!!
Ok......I'm waiting for your raging

I recently got hearing aids.I'm 47 yrs old and I remember when cowboys came out and I liked it but because of my hearing being bad I couldn't hear the instruments clearly. I am now able to everything clearly and it's like hearing these albums for the first time and I'm loving it!! Probably driving my family crazy because I been listening every day for a year now!! Plus I play guitar and now I'm able to play Dimes riffs and it's truly made me a much better player and I been playing since I was 16. Thank God for Dime and Vinnie, such a tragic loss!! God bless all pantera fans!! I love u all, each of you are brothers and sisters in Metal!!
Best-Strenght beyond strength, 5 minutes Alone, I'm Broken, Slaughtered, Use my Third arm

I'm about to take FIVE MINUTES ALOOOOOOOONNNNEEE to listen to this blazin record front to back 🤘🏻
It doesn't matter what nationality you are.
It doesn't matter what your views on life are.
One thing is important, we are all fucking fans of the greatest metal band in the history of Pantera
I lived this album out in real life during the 90's 🎉
In 94 i was fifteen and a sophmore in highschool, i really enjoyed all there albums but i use to play thus one song one to twelve over and over and over again. RIP dbd
Few sounds or riffs have been able to capture complete spiritual and physical ripping pain as does 25 Years for me. Those screeches and bends on the verse pull at my soul. We're Fucking you back.
Hail kings a new king, STRONGER THEN ALL. Pantera changed my whole perception on music. There was before hearing Pantera, and then after hearing Pantera. 2 totally different worlds
This came out halfway through my undergrad. It blew up!!!

28 years later and this is still one of the most badass albums ever written. r.i.p. dime and vinny your contributions to the music industry will not go unforgotten
Hard Lines Sunken Cheeks hits as hard now as it did a million years ago when my old ass first heard the song.

Remember children. This took the number one spot! Beating Madonna and Ace of Base. STRONGER THAN ALL!
Pantera made my teenage days, it still rules !
The school bus, 6th grade. My girlfriend let me borrow her brothers CD. The opening track changed me, forever! I had never heard anything like that! Down into beherit, gorguts, severe torture... It all started with a walk man, a rural route and strength beyond strength!!! 🤯

Son of a gun.. Your a baaaaad duuude maaan!
Cowboys hit me the same way in school. I'm a little older
not often i can listning to a whole album now a day, but have admit this perfection... well one song left before it`s over, even if ends with the Barbie song I would call this a timeless masterpiece.. abselutely loved it.
This album was so anticipated following the release of the epic vulgar display of power. Definitely a power house of an ablum worthy of the top spot second to the aforementioned. Phil's voice on slaughtered and strength beyond strength are not only iconic but inspirational to hundreds of metal vocalists. The drums and bass are at their tightest and dime always shined like the diamond he was. Long live the baddest metal band to grace the earth Pantera 🤘🏼❤
Listening to this album years after living this scene is pure therapy. R.I P. Vince and Dime❤
The first 4 tracks of this album are perfection . . . Far beyond what most Metal bands achieve in their entire career. The perfect blend of heavy and catchy. Vinnie's double-bass drum work on Becoming is insanely masterful. Then you have Slaughtered which has to be one of the most brutal metal tracks ever recorded yet somehow it is still groovy. As you get to the deeper cuts, it never lets up. Some of the most epic guitar work comes in Throes of Rejection . . . Dammit, Dimebag was a metal god, on par with his idol, EVH.
So what about the other tracks then?
@@infinitesimotel If you don't know how to read, then STFU.
@@infinitesimotelI mentioned the deeper cuts 😁

They toured with sepltura that summer so amazing, drove 4 hours and did a back to backbshow

In middle school I was obsessed with Pantera! I love all their albums! Rest in Power, Dime and Vinnie

The transition between Throes of Rejection and Planet Caravan is one of the most sensational things I've ever heard.
It was 1994, I consumed this album and still listen to it often. Dark and heavy like no other Pantera album. And then that really emotional cover of Planet Caravan 🤘💀🤘
" Becoming" is a Metal Orgasm.💯🤘🤘🤘🤘
Seen it 94 tour with sepltura loved it so much drove from detroit to next city for next show, amazing
Can't believe it has already been 18 years man... I will always regret not going to see Pantera live the one chance I had as a kid. But we all know Dime and Vinny are still kicking ass and bringing the house down in Valhalla. Rock on Brothers and Sisters!
