Production is minted, the sound of each instrument compliment each other, songwriting on another level, peak megadeth, overall 10 on 10
Everybody likes Rust in Peace, but I always liked this one.
Hidden Treasure's was good also. That came out in 1995.
Everything before Risk was amazing, a 10/10 for me. Except their first album. I can't understand the words Dave is singing lmao
@@cluxx8486 I mean give the guy some credit, he rushed to put together a band from scratch and album from near scratch considering he had multiple songs almost completely written when he joined Metallica which they put out on Kill Em All. Im not a fan of KIMB but its an amazing feat alla things considered.
I like both! @@rustybeltway2373
My favourite Megadeth album of all time 😊
Marty's solos on this are perfection
Ah yes , the Marty Freidman era 😁
I think rust in peace is better, but this one is near perfect
Yup, this and Youthanasia
Max Norman (producer) deserves a lot of credit for how this ended up, arrangements as well as the mix
One of the greatest metal album of all time....
Easily!
In the THRASH catagory, yes - ABSOLUTELY!!!!

Timeless album. It rocked the day it was released (came with a Tshirt, which I still have!) and it still ROCKS today. It has stood the test of time. I've been a huge fan, from the early days of Megadeth, and you never, ever disappoint! Thank you, Dave for four decades of awesome music!
I'm jealous. I got NO shirt with my purchase. GLAD 4 u Tho
I remember taking this cd to school along with my diskman and my catholic fri3nd said u listen 🎶 to this kind of music 🎶 I'm like hellyeah don't u. No my parents won't let me they day it's devils music I couldn't believe what I was told. I said it's just music to make u body nd soul, mind feel awesome ❤ he just looks at me like gave him the 🤟🤟🤟🤟🫡
Indeed, good music doesn't get forgotten. True metalheads will appreciate this.🤘
@@huggybearjohnson4197I'm big on Ozzy Osbourne and love Metallica and Megadeth as well. I'm a true metalhead and absolutely love it. If they call this devils music, those people probably thought Ozzy was the devil himself. Anyway, I'm grateful for decades of amazing music, and Megadeth is one of my favorite bands. Long live heavy metal.🤘🤘🤘🤘
I never got a t shirt, bought this new when I came out too....wth?
Brilliant album - great to listen to again after all these years!!!!!

Hellyeah 🙂 but the new one is very good 🤘
Listening to the whole thing now, they don't do it like this anymore, musical bliss, thrash heavan
My favourite MEGADETH Album 🎸🥁🎸🎸
Megadeth never gets old, even after 30 years. Dave is a master songwriter with clever and meaningful lyrics
Oh "Hell Yeah" I'd love this whole album it rock's and kickass big time. I'd love Dave Mustaine alway's forever into my lifetime......
Skin O' My Teeth is about him being afraid to go to the dentist 💀💀

30 years ago, the world was in shock when Countdown to Extinction was released on July 14th, 1992, and 30 years later, this album is timeless and badass at the same time. Happy 30 years of Countdown to Extinction!!! 😈😈🔥🔥
30 years ago I heard Iraqi heavy metal music being sung in ARABIC!!! I lived it, and so has Dave in his own demonic path!!! It is still my honor to continue to rise with my own music!!!
It's an absolute masterpiece, i haven't heard it for a while..love all the songs..but the intro to Captive honour is simply WICKED!!
Lol i stole this cd
30 years later and we're still counting down. It's lyrics stand the test of time.!
Fuck yes sir!
Ashes in your mouth is one of their greatests songs ever written. It kills in every way.🤘🤘🤘
I just recently re-discovered Ashes... Grade A Deth Riffs, One of a kind soloing, and catchy earworm lyrics
I was about to write the same, I just discovered it!
Best song on the album. And it's great to re-visit this crisp, crunchy follow up to Rust in Peace, because it's got Marty Friedman solos everywhere! For that reason alone it's a keeper
GOT remember this song...

Someone already beat you to it
So glad Dave wasn’t forced to get on board with the Napster crusade. One must never forget just how douchey that whole thing was.
Another MASTERPIECE
True that! Just follow Dave and co. And go from killing is my business, Peace Sells... , So Far, Rust in Peace, Countdown, Euthanasia and Cryptic Writings is a continuous convoy of epically made, no 2 are alike Masterpieces! Even the albums after Criptic are as good of not better then albums released by other bands. And being Thrash😢v Metal never had airplay or the need to change the look of the band to adapt to stink music like grunge! I truly believe that if Lars and Hatfield didn't kick him out we would of never experienced such greatness! Even the soundtrack song and the remakes are done in ways to honor the bands that originally made the tune.Sorry for ranting and totally my opinion but by Mustaine being pissed we got the best!
This album has aged exceptionally well. The production & mix is on point. Content still as relevant as ever. Brilliant musicians. Good on ya Mustaine.
That ride cymbal is like an icepick in my ears. I have on AudioTechnica ATH-M50x monitors, it's pretty brutal.
Good lasting tunes

@@peggyemery2379
Exactly
The mix and production of this album is damn near perfect...probably one of the best sounding metal albums of all time.
Exactly this!
The unique trait Megadeth possesses as a unit has to be the complexity of their music only lyrically they did mature as a band after the first line up change.Muataine has the ability to hurt his nerve and get stronger as a God Thrash for a front man
makes me wonder how I heard of Mustaie before James
Newtons
From memory, you have Max Norman to thank for that.
One of my first serious metal albums, used to give myself ringing ears listening to it on my walkman on the bus every day back in the early 90's. Was so glad my friend gave me a copy, my parents would have shat bricks if they knew I got it.
L
I dont get hos people enjoy music while it hurts their ears at max volume
Ashes In Your Mouth--absolutely savage song and Amazing way to end the album with an echoed E power chord. Breathtaking
Well technically the song never ends because of the repeated fading out E chord and the cymbal hit, but oh my, details...
To me, ashes in you mouth is the best song from Megadeth

Personally I lOVE Psychotron, what a riff. Another great record. Rust in Peace and Countdown are metal masterpieces.
Both are peak Megadeth!
What can I say about this album besides was my first original record from Megadeth, and is on my top 5. Pure magic that just get better and better with the past of time.
This was such an awesome follow-up to RIP - totally different but still every single song on it is unmissable. It's easy to criticize it for sounding clean and commercial like people do with Cryptic Writings but fuck that, this album rules.
Both this and CW are awesome albums! A clean production is great!
with how totally dead metal is in the commercial sphere it's about time to stop complaining about albums sounding commercial lmao this shit ain't coming back for a while or ever
Masterpiece
Man I had this album when i was like 14 in the 90s and just remembered it. Probably the best megadeth?
Possibly the best production of their records, it's mixed nearly perfect.
@@ponzo1967 Dave is pretty strict with making an album as perfect as possible. Always has been like that and always will be.
legendary album, Symphony of Destruction was one of the first metal songs I ever heard and I love it still
I can clearly remember playing this album on my boombox, again and again, the sound was so crispy and heavy, the cover art so impacting, the music felt so meaningful and somewhat mysterious to my pre-teen self... how tf 30 years went by, dammit...
dude so funny I was thinking earlier how the hell did I keep batteries in mine with no job nothing and I cant afford them now ! I still have large collection of cassette tapes and 3 players but NO batteries ! lol
OfCourse just plug it in but from Kentucky we was always up in the hill doing something
I remember getting this album as a kid and playing Super Mario Bros 2 while this blasted on my Sony stereo

Nick Menza RIP is phenomenal on this album and Rust in Peace 🥁
for me the best record with the best line up....R.I.P. NICK...you were the reason for me to pick up the sticks and learn drums myself.
Nice! Yeah, Nick was savage on the drums. This performance of Lucretia comes to mind: ua-cam.com/users/clipUgkxzIR486MLY9i-THnWdyDyOVNBcECeuQxs
I got to meet Nick on this tour , think may have been my 1st concert ever them or A.I.C cant remember but the whole band was great wasn't no meet and greets they was behind the venue just hanging out talking to everyone after the show. its a killer venue was then , Newport music hall Columbus Ohio, 1,700 max capacity , but I hear they put seats in it now to raise price on seating was general admission but I remember Nicks kit went to the ceiling , rite at it , it was a wild set up
Menza was a beast on this!
Captive Honour! AINT NO HONOUR!! If I HAD to pick a favorite, this is one of those rare albums where every song is so good!
Hard to pick a favorite!! one of if not their best album
I totally get what you guys are saying. First time I saw Sweeting Bullets video I was blown away. But for me the best album is Rust in Peace. I was a young soldier going to Desert Storm. I was a young black American who happened to be Muslim who loved and still loves speed/thrash metal. So many of those songs told a sorry. I was able to picture myself in the song Holy Wars telling people to not fight. 5 Magics we're in my estimate the five weapons systems I was proficient, Dawn Patrol was asking me what if this spilled over the globe. I tear up at times now when I hear songs from that album.
Can you imagine going out on a mission and to get you hyped you play Take No Prisoners!?
I know that Desert Storm was not as hard core as my deployment to Iraq in 2005 but those songs still were in my head. Moving forward to 2004, Kill the King was my "ode" to Saddam Hussein and I literally kicked a chair when I had a chance to go to the palace in Tikrit.
The lyrics! Genius
I was introduced to this album somewhere in 1998 (high school times). A classmate had it on his walkman. He gave me his set of headphones ("just check this old tune" - he said). I could not stop listening to it. Let me just say it was during some lectrure that had just started. I don't know what was the lecture about, I was simply listening to the album during the entire lecture. I was sitting in a 3rd front row, I was looking at the teacher, nodding when I felt I should just to ensure him I am receiving new knowledge, but I was all way into the tunes I was listening to.
Excellent 👌
My Stepson kept insisting I listen to this Album but I'd never listen to Megadeath. I gave it a try, now til this day it's one of favorite albums.
One of the groups best albums 😊
I never was into this band particularly because of Mustang's voice...but took me 8 year's after that ... I'm a huge fan... maestro
Every song is just an ace!!! pretty awesome. Personally my fav MG album, even over the hyper Rust in Piece. Maybe because of dynamics, hooks and the stellar production
I tend to like The World Needs a Hero as my favorite Megadeth album.
Crucify me.
One of the most greatest albums i've ever listened to, it's brilliant, poeerful, with great riffs...
Megadeth slays all, best thrash band ever. JMO.
Not an opinion, straight facts. Megadeth rules!
I was always bummed fuggled as to why Megadeth, which was a much better band than Metallica in every aspect, wasn't more popular than Metallica.

Amazing how memories can take you back in time. I feel like my teenager self from the early 90's. i can still remember when Symphony of Destruction debut on MTV. 10 yrs ago went to my 2nd MEGADETH concert I actually was front of the crowd mezmorized by Dave Mustaine. He threw guitar pics into the crowd i caught one Like slow mo threw my eyes it flew threw peoples hand trying to grab it and like magic or the pic of destiny i raised my hand caught it with one hand like a power fist. i quickly put into my pocket and went head banging powerhouse.i was empowered after the concert. showed my friends it was a heavy metal blessing not to mention when CDplayers came out this was my first album from cassette tapes.
Pick of Destiny 😂🔥
I know what you mean brother, I caught a drum stick, the only drumstick that Nicko threw to mid stalls, October 12th I think it was, 1984, Hammersmith Odeon when Iron Maiden were touring their Powerslave album. Still have it. What made it so special was that I was just starting out my own career as a drummer. It was like passing a baton to me. I also have a Nikki Sixx pic from a Wembley Arena gig perhaps 1989 and a few other things. Bits of a deflated Jethro Tull massive balloon somewhere lol
I saw them 8 years ago. also, I saw them play an acoustic show a short time later. the crowd ruined it by singing along the whole entire damn show. ticket was like a hundred bucks too.
Architecture of agression IS so funky for those that understand what i mean.....Megadeth music never desappoint me , each LP has something good to me

90,92,94,97 - Golden Megadeth 🤘🏻💚👶Best Metall!
I remember it like it was yesterday. About 3-4 years ago, i was scrolling through UA-cam and I saw a Playlist. It was the whole countdown to extinction album. That was my fitst megadeth experience. I was blown away. It was an incredible experience. Through that I got to know about rust in peace, dystopia and peace sells which are my top 2, 3 and 4 favourite megadeth albums. From the day I listened to it, it remained my favourite. I love tornado of souls, holy wars, poison was the cure, hangar 18, lucretia, etc. They are amazing songs that stand with the best of all of metal, but idk, something about the songs on these albums is just different. The solos are so raw with close to no effects (like excessive delay, reverb, wah, ...), the riffs are tight af, the clean parts are out of this world. This album isn't like peace sells with chris poland's unique sound, dystopia with kiko's exotic phrasing and the heavy ass riffs, or rust in peace with the melodic and complex solos. This is raw power. This sounds like straight out of an amp, no sound adjusting, and yet the sound is so perfect. I don't think an album will ever catch me like this one did. Fav album oat. I'm not exaggerating, every single song is a flawless 10/10 imo
Thanks for this album , another wake up America ! More true now than ever.......
