Great demonstration video! I bought mine a couple years ago and I am very happy with them! I tried them out along with Trick and Axis pedals, and the Demon Drives kicked their ass. No doubt the best pedal to date!
I bought a DD double pedal about 6 months ago... Price tag of 699CD was a little more than the Axis pedals.. but being that its made by pearl.. I figured the extra 60 bucks was worth it... and BOY WAS I RIGHT.. These pedals are INSANELY responsive.. I play alot of heel-toe at 200+bpm.. Ive never played a pedal that could stick to my feet through long rolls.. untill the DD! It has the pro price tag.. But if your looking for PRO gear.. its well worth the money! Another great PEARL innovation!
In my opinion it's the best drum pedal! It's so smooth,so fast, you gonna love it! And if you like to do the "heel toe" this pedal is the best for this technic!
i'm really happy with my speed cobra older model. but everytime i see this guy i want to buy a demon drive! the few times i tried at guitar center i didn't see or feel anything extraordinary but it does have a million different adjustments so prob would need ample time to mess around and dial it in
borrowed a pair of these on a gig today, best pedal ever! it was smoother for me than axis and speed cobra and its not over expensive! gonna get these, no doubt!
i own a DW 5002 pedal and i love it. i tried the demon drive out at my local music store and i must say, its very very smooth and can be controlled very well. but IMO its a bit on the light side, i like a little bit of weight in the pedals so i can get some more power from the stroke, other than that they are good pedals and i would recommend them to anyone (who has a deep pocket).
THESE PEDALS FOR SURE. I had axis pedals and they broke after 3 month's. I've played these pedals and it's like heaven. Trust me you will NOT regret buying these.
I'm planning on replacing my 12 year old axis A longboards with either this or trick pedals, idk which one yet though still on the fence but this video is making me lean towards the demon drives.
I want this pedal so much.... I went onto pearl's website really quick yesterday and this baby was just staring me right in the face. It is so totally worth the 360 dollars. funny thing is it is cheaper than the trick pedal but seems to have infinately more features.
@deathdrummerwild It depends what feel you want. Speed Cobra is a chain drive, so if you're used to a chain drive feel but want the lighter feel and leverage of a longboard pedal, you want the Speed Cobra. Direct drive is a different feel entirely, but you might like it. After playing both, I personally prefer the Demons, and my pedals are Iron Cobras.
@doctorrockter Im not sure how you reached that conclusion. I own both and I find the Pearl is really just good for training and workout, the axis has a bit of an edge over it...
I got these yesterday but I cant play well with them because they differ so much from the Iron Cobras I used to have. They have less power but I guess they are much faster in the end.
i love the feel or tricks also buh the thing i find with DDs is that it feels heavier then both trick and axis. the DDs almost imitate the feel or a regular pedal while still having components of what axis and trick has. it really is preference cuz when you get axis or trick pedals it would take you sometime to get used to them because the feel is COMPLETELY different. buh i think once you get used to your pedal youll be in double bass drumming heaven :)
I got this pedal today, and is very good. I just have one question. How to setup it to play fast double bass??? This have a lot of diferent combinations and I dont have experience with a pedal like this. I just want to setup it to play FAST double bass. If someone knows please help me!!!!! Thanks!!! :)
Marketing is supposed to be boastful, hence the endless superlatives, 'only in the world!' etc. That said... this really is some damned good engineering. That is a WILD range of adjustment for feel and response. And in order for all of that to work right... you've gotta have very tight tolerances in manufacturing. Hence the fancy bearings etc. I think a design this complex, if you cheaped out and allowed to much wiggle and play, the whole thing would fall apart. Binding up, jamming etc. So to implement this design, all those details he was showing off have to be just so. Of course he would say 'it's the best pedal in the world!'... but it is fair to say it's a legit contender. Short/long, heavy/light, power/finesse etc, etc. You can make it an outstanding version of whatever your preference is, or change config for different styles. He didn't even get into how, if you have true double bass, you can break the link, move a few parts and have 2 stand alone pedals for left and right. Built into the design to work as a double or 2 singles. There is no absolute, singular 'best' anything... but this is impressive hardware extremely well thought out. When I first head about these, I thought maybe it was gimmicky, or prone to problems due to complexity. Reviews say otherwise, one of the more loved pedals out there. I don't know the names of the engineers that designed this thing... but damn... they did some freakishly good work here.
i got these about a year ago. the only problem is that the lateral pedal I always have to re-oil it. some reason the main pedal is fine but the other keeps feeling rusty and not smooth. Anyone else have this problem?
@MrSlimshady2014 the problems Ive heard from many people with the axis pedals is they tend to rattle appart at the seams (so to speak) I keep hearing horror stories about little parts and screws breaking and or falling out while playing and after speaking with my local music store guru he mentioned that nearly every axis pedal he has ever sold.. has come back for SOME kind of minor repairs.. Axis (IMO) still has some growing pains before they catch up to pearl when it comes to durability!
@sandrail69 The Guitar center close to me has three on the floor... and the one in Boston literally has about 8 of them scattered among all the different drumsets. I bet they sell alot of them.
i use Axis and i personally feel that Axis is better then thse pedals. and people who say axis suck, you guys never took the time to actually get used to them. when i first got them i hated Axis pedals, buh it took about a good 3 months buh afterwards i realised i LOVED them. No other pedal for me. Using Axis pedals is like an aquired taste. like beer and wine.
Wow, atleast now other companys are going to have to up the quality of there double pedals, i hope this will be the new standard in future double pedals
What an excellent presentation.
Clear, confident and sure about what he is presenting.
I like how he goes straight to the point without fooling around, but still remains very interesting! :p
That was my first thought, what a professional presentation, the pedal is much more interesting now.
best sales man in the world
He can sell a cup of ice water for $100.

Great demonstration video! I bought mine a couple years ago and I am very happy with them! I tried them out along with Trick and Axis pedals, and the Demon Drives kicked their ass. No doubt the best pedal to date!
I just bought the direct drive version of the Demon Drives yesterday and I can't even explain how happy I am!
Being a drummer, you're happy when you buy something. That is, until you see your bank account.
Terminator who likes drums: "Your pedals....give them to me, now."

I pick mine up on Friday!!!! I was getting the axis al2 till I played these pedals in the shop today, I ordered the demon drives.
Excellent explanation.

Even when you change it into the long board version its only as long as the eliminator.
6 years later, thank you, I was looking exactly for this info :)

@memphisdrumshop- I am confused between the pearl powershifter or the demon drive double pedal.. Which one should I buy?? I need ur help
I’m getting one for sure now
I wasn't sold on it until I saw this guy.
I'm planning on replacing my 12 year old axis A longboards with either this or trick pedals, idk which one yet though still on the fence but this video is making me lean towards the demon drives.
I cant wait
It looks like a killer pedal! I want one!!
I want this pedal so much....
I went onto pearl's website really quick yesterday and this baby was just staring me right in the face. It is so totally worth the 360 dollars. funny thing is it is cheaper than the trick pedal but seems to have infinately more features.
Pearl is the best company. Not only drums, but hardware AND the Percussions equipment. And I realy wanna try this pedal!! :D
One year later. How do you like your Demon Drives? Thinking of buying myself.
i NEED that!
How do these pedals compare to the Dw 5000's, which also use bearings?
so excited, get to practice with some within an hour :D ohh yeahhh
i'm buying this maybe next week or within the next month. i need the pearl demon drive!
I have one of this. It's really Great!

What if I don't have the key?
I want to extend it to long board, but can't loosen the hinges!
What to do!
no one i know of uses these pedals...but i have played them and they are freaking sweet
Awesome!!!
how much does the demon drive double pedal costs??
awesome
As soon as he said Ninja,i was sold.
no and you can take of the little orange parts on the grip board if you want
i do like the short board/long board feature.
@doctorrockter
Im not sure how you reached that conclusion. I own both and I find the Pearl is really just good for training and workout, the axis has a bit of an edge over it...
how much are the wooden beaters??
whats better this or the axis longboard??
I got these yesterday but I cant play well with them because they differ so much from the Iron Cobras I used to have. They have less power but I guess they are much faster in the end.
This guy is GOOD
what's the point of having the beater spin
If I buy a single pedal, can I buy a link and slave to make it into a double?
i love the feel or tricks also buh the thing i find with DDs is that it feels heavier then both trick and axis. the DDs almost imitate the feel or a regular pedal while still having components of what axis and trick has. it really is preference cuz when you get axis or trick pedals it would take you sometime to get used to them because the feel is COMPLETELY different. buh i think once you get used to your pedal youll be in double bass drumming heaven :)
I bought these pedals because of this pedal :L Do you sell the ninja bolt cleaner fluid? don't really wanna use normal cleaner :|
I got this pedal today, and is very good. I just have one question. How to setup it to play fast double bass??? This have a lot of diferent combinations and I dont have experience with a pedal like this. I just want to setup it to play FAST double bass. If someone knows please help me!!!!! Thanks!!! :)

Sold!
I just bought the double... OH MY GAWD!!
This is exactly what the guy at 2009 Winter NAMM said. I mean word by word! They undergo some extensive training...
@sandrail69 The Guitar center close to me has three on the floor... and the one in Boston literally has about 8 of them scattered among all the different drumsets. I bet they sell alot of them.
@pauli3143 We haven't heard anything yet.
I use the new kryptonite driven pedal... works great.
Super
i use Axis and i personally feel that Axis is better then thse pedals. and people who say axis suck, you guys never took the time to actually get used to them. when i first got them i hated Axis pedals, buh it took about a good 3 months buh afterwards i realised i LOVED them. @Hammy0924
And the axis longboard is superior to both. The eliminator is still quite the piece of work.
Wow, atleast now other companys are going to have to up the quality of there double pedals, i hope this will be the new standard in future double pedals
I wonder how hard it can strike the head.
Bought one of these double kicks :D So expensive, but I'd be surprised if it wasn't some of the best money I've ever spent.
