Duddeee i need this soo much right now my p935 is almost broken and im broke these are literally my dream pedal i would be happy with a half broken deamon drive pedal these pedals are sick
I have only demoed this pedal when they first came out. I dunno if it was different then the model shown here but it was gen 1. I could tell that it improves my playing immediately. Probably was the direct drive design but don't know for sure. I'm still too cheap 😂 to buy one but when I have to replace my Iron Cobra this will be on my short list. No other piece of equipment has made me play better that I can think of. I have a feeling I would have less foot fatigue using this too but don't know for sure. Awesome product!Felt better than DW 9000 back then for me. Been playing since 1975 so I'm impressed by very little. This pedal killed for me.
I've tried a LOT of different pedals in my life, including this one and it's VERY good! But i have to say, nothing has been as good as the new speed cobra from tama. But you know, everyone has a different taste.
The new speed cobra are definitly my favorite pedals ever. So damn smooth and powerful and fast. Also have the new iron cobras and they are great as well can’t go wrong with either of the new generation Tama cobra pedals.
The Erratic Drummer I have 2 DW 9000 XF pedals and I’m thinking of going with the Tama Speed Cobra for a double pedal. I’m ordering the Speed Cobra Hihat stand in a few days. The UPS guy HATES ME! And he’s my favorite guy.
Is the Tama Speed Cobra you guys are referring to a direct drive or chain driven pedal? I googled it and the only pictures I found look like chain drive. I’m asking because I’ve been told that direct drive pedals are better but I’ve never played one.
Hey Tom! I was kickin' The Pearl Eliminators with "happy feet" until I watched your Demon Direct Drive Video. Am planning to upgrade to them in the future!
2:20 you mixed up the adjustment for the beater distance and the foot board height. Not that there is an issue but from the way you're adjusting the foot board height, I'd assume you'd be wearing out the teeth on the pedals holding the beater arms. The lines you see on the side of the pedal by the springs 1:58 is so you can line up the foot board height appropriately to match both feet. the lines you can see on the beater holders and the metal parts berfore the beater holders is so you can allign the beaters accordingly. Reading the instruction manual goes a long way guys.
I want this pedal certainly. It made a dw 9000 feel like a slug to me in side by side trials. However my preferred layout only Sonar seems to produce, with their Giant Step Double Middle but not in direct drive, which is the best way to go for accuracy.
I'm a little confused. When you extend the length of the board does it get rid of the heel plate? Because I see these pedals that have a heel plate and then also the same pedals that only have the hinge area without the plate. What's up with that?
No, the plate and the hinge are inverted. The hinge is fixed with a plate you have to unscrew and move back so the plate will come in between the footboard and the hinge.
If you do the "pull back the beaters and let go at the same time" test, the left beater stops way too quick. Yes, I've checked the drive shaft, tested soooo many spring tensions, heights, etc. Nothing works. When you take the drive shaft off, and do the same test only with the pedals - it's fine. Because that shaft isn't so smooth, it causes a little more tension - and you can't loosen the spring enough to compensate. Looking into more even double pedals - anybody have any great suggestions for latest, greatest for fast dbl bass metal?
Adrian Tedstill actually, the image shown on screen is indeed a demonator. You can tell from both the beater and the orange cam. They both have the Z link, so it’s still related to what he’s talking about
It blew my old iron cobra out of the water, but it was a very old cobra. I thought it was better than my guitarists speed cobra also. But, I didnt adjust his to my liking. But then again, I didn't adjust much of the eliminator either, other than turning it into a longboard and taking off the toe plates.
yeh this is frustrating it’s removing all my power in my kicks yk like when you use direct drives you lose a lot of power i’m thinking of switching back
Can anyone explain the difference between the Pearl demon drive spring SP64NF and the Pearl P932 Demonator Spring SP64F? And would it make a difference in my P932?
Hey, Jamie. Hope you’re well. The springs are the same. I hope this helps. Jason Thiele, Senior Sweetwater Sales Engineer, (800) 222-4700 ext. 1391, jason_thiele@sweetwater.com
Thanks for the interest. Kind of a tough question to answer, as a bass drum pedal is a very personal thing. The Axis pedal and this Pearl are both direct drive pedals, so very similar design. I can't say whether one is better than another, but both very good pedals with lots of flexibility and adjustment. Let me know if you have other questions. Derek Senestraro, Senior Sweetwater Sales Engineer, (800) 222-4700 ext. 1243, derek_senestraro@sweetwater.com
personally, the Axis felt weak and thin. The DD is built like a tank in comparison. I also didn't like the feel of it, literally couldn't play it. My buddy loved them though. I's a personal thing, you need to try it out in person, no way around it.
Can somebody recommend me a double bass pedal? I've been playing with a crappy beginner pedal for a year now and I want to buy something better and smoother. I want to be able to practice the heel-toe technique on my new double bass pedal but I have no idea which one to get. Any recommendations?
Hey, Mind Hunter. Thanks so much for your interest. I’m a big fan of the DW 3000 or 5000 series pedal. I think they both would be a great step up from what you currently have. I hope this helps. Jason Thiele, Senior Sweetwater Sales Engineer, (800) 222-4700 ext. 1391, jason_thiele@sweetwater.com

if you cant do heel toe on these pedals, you are doing it wrong. Hell, I have big feet and I can do heel toes on my old iron cobras. I can do them a bit better on the Demon Drive though but its not like the pedal change enabled me to play that technique. If you cant do a technique on any pedal, you do it wrong. That approach will bite you back in the end and you might become one of those fools that have an expensive pedal but don't have proper technique with it. Been there and it's not good.
Yeah i noticed that too! I just bought these by the way, pretty fuckin good pedals My own gripe is you can't un hooke the spring to fold up the pedal in the case like cobras. You have to take the beater out, not very convenient.
He should have specified that these can be broken down/assembled to be two identical single pedals if one wishes. That is very unique. Sure, other doubles can be broken down to be used as two singles, but most others end up being structurally different.
