- So, the last gunfighter is not sitting at a battle rating of 10.0... And it's quite good flares, 4 x AIM-9D and nice flight performance combine to make this quite probably the best 10.0 fighter. It should not be there... but it is.

@@adrfarling5503 u can only carry 2 though, u can’t carry 2 magics and 530s, it’s a max of 2 missiles unless u carry 9bs. And no flares at 10.3 is very rough
I have died in this thing more by wing ripping than actually getting shot down.
I believe it, I managed to only rip twice luckily

@@kleinerfarmer1 Yeah it helps a bit. But its still pretty limiting having to becareful of your turning when you are trying to win.
facts its more often i lose my wings then actually make it through a match in rb alive on the other hand this thing is an absolute monster in arcade mode where its wings stay safely attached but theres usually not enough players trying to arcade at 10.0 and higher so the games take forever to get into but they are good for a giggle or two
It rips stupidly when stock, cant even turn 6Gs while *slight* rolling without instantly having my wingtips fall off, still flyable afterwards as its only the tips and not the entire wing but very very annoying. Any harder though, and the entire wing falls off.
I feel this aircraft really became great when they introduced battle ratings 11.3 and especially 12.0. I struggled with this one while relatively new since often getting caught up in top tier, but since decompression is is mostly top dog. I think it is also perfect for killing those annoying SU-25s. The AIM-9D is just good enough to fly high, dive down and launch at a Su-25s and others at long enough range for them to not see you...

I remember playing this as my main jet before the AIM-9D nerf, now i switched over to the Tomcat and still won't go over 10g's if i don't have to

I love the thing. I think the wing rip is kinda silly with how easy it happens. However if you hold your airspeed at around 1,000km you can pop air brakes and drop to 850 and you can be relatively immune to wing rip and you will always out turn just about everything. Also I love the aim 9d but I think we can all agree the r60s at the same br are definitely worse for the game balance. The aim 9d has more range but it does take some skill to use where as the r60s are basically guaranteed kills on all the planes without flares from anything approaching rear aspect under 3 kms
Both Crusaders have slats on leading edges, you need to drop flaps to Combat to use them. Flaps also solve issue of wing rips, though you need to be below 900kmh or so ias to deploy them.
That said, F8U is a blast to play now, dodging all the F4S gamers.
Fair, I just didn't remember seeing them when I was playing the F-8E is all. 10.0 is really a dream for it though, it feels good even in an 11.0 natch!
@@GeneralLee2000 If you're fast enough, they won't even drop when you set flaps to Combat. On the upside, you need to go quite much faster than deployment speed to break them off, 1k+ IAS I think?

I fucking love this thing, but ripping your wings is such a buzzkill.
I think it's rather balanced all things considered. Su 25 was 9.7 for almost a year, I have absolutely no problem smacking dumb Russians with this plane now.
And it's not like you can't use some skill if you're in a mig21 or mirage to deal with this, so I say its balanced. Now if the fi3 were to be 10.0, that'd be a lil crazy, cause quite a few 9.0 - 9.3 planes don't get rwr.

The F8U-2 Crusader is my favorite fighter plane of all time in WT. I learned that at above 2,000 m you can pull harder without breaking your wings! And with the amount of burn time on the AIM-9D you can get long range kills of up to almost 6km if the enemy isn’t paying attention! I’m almost at 900 air kills with this plane to an average of 550 deaths. So I think that’s a pretty fair outcome lol

@@YourBBIQScaresMe the Crusader is a fighter but use it as a support role. Caught the enemy off guard. Side climb up to 5,000 m and then turn into the enemy. Use your Aim-9Ds long range too it’s advantage! Again do NOT fly under 2,000 m at high speeds that’s where your wings will snap.

its was 10.3 right? im always get into 10.7 then playing 9.7-10.0 planes but dont see this one a lot in battles...
Yup, it's 10.0 now. The F-8E was also 10.3, so before this change there was no reason to play this variant.
@@GeneralLee2000 it performs better at slower speeds thanks to slats but yeah generally not as useful
I think what is sad is the amount of planes at rank 10 and above in the american tree that have AIM9B. They can't even give the F-111A a fair AAM at it's rank and it gets kicked up to 11.3 often.
ridic if u can get used to the weak wings, I'd rather just take out the f8e tho, worth the .3 increase imho

i dont know why would you play anything else other then F-5E rn, 80% of matches are 9,7/10,0 downtiers and it is pure A-10, A-6E and inexperienced F-5C farm (i have the chineese one)
Very very good plane, but I figured everyone else would be covering it, so I wanted to try something different
Any plane at 10.7 or 10.3 has been clubbing premiums for months. I finished the event yesterday and started flying the 10.7 F4F with 4x9J’s and 2x20mm gunpods. I was averaging 2 or 3 kills a match without too much effort (could’ve been more but I’m trash lol).
I play with the US F5-E, and with the downtiers, its a loosing streak for me, they get blown out of the sky at the start then its juts 3-4 people left for 99% of the enemy team to fight over.

yeah, but recently a7k got agm 65 buff which loafted when launched. so its bit better on ground rb

From a flight simmer perspective it makes me cringe so much every time this guy call his wings "fragile" because they break at 15gs lolll. My man, I guaranty if you take this amount of sustained gs your body would break down way before the jet...
Ok but this is in this game where all planes have a 1.5 times g overload and where every one in a turning plane will try to out turn each other, its a very important consideration. And trust me the wings rip a lot in general gameplay.
