That F-104 in the final fight is guilty of something I've seen a ton of players do recently. It's like they hear "your turning is bad" and they're so stuck on that fact that they just refuse to do anything but move in straight lines. I can't tell you how many matches I've lost because it was effectively a 2 or 3 vs 1, all because a teammate takes so long to reset their angle and reengage. Listen people, there's a time and place to turn; and when your opponent is low on energy that's as good a time as any.
That sounds like pitfall #2 for boom and zoomers. Not turning when you should.

Just like the A4E/B, Mig 19's, su7's, su17, T-2, F-1, F40 sabre, and f104 if you thrash it... just gotta remember to pop airbrake for a couple seconds if you're starting a "oh shit" turn to get away from the speed it rips at (~900kmh) once u get in the habit of popping it when u wanna turn super hard or while doing a split-s, then the matches are much much less anxiety procuring 😅
I really don't think that the wingripping is all that bad, it has around the same G tolerance as the sabre, and the same ~100km/h zone from 850-950km/h zone where pulling a maximum performance turn will result in a wingrip, so for Sabre pilots it will be very easy to adjust. Most other planes have the same G tolerance but just can't pull hard enough to wingrip, so it's a good problem to have. I'd say the much larger problem with this plane is the nose responsiveness and how hard it is to get guns on target.
According to the F-8C's manual, the limit load factor of the F-8C is 6.2G.
Aircraft can withstand 1.5 times the limit load factor, so the F-8C has historically suffered structural damage at load factors above 9.3G. this is plane problem, not game problem
@@doodiezgrandpa6520 the plane can out perform if used correctly.. i find keeping energy and making slight turns to be highly useful on 1v1 engagements. if u thrash the plane then u lose energy advantage and structural damage. people always want to use jets like spitfires and forget the limitations of the plane.
@@doodiezgrandpa6520 An F/A-18C has a max load factor of 7.5Gs. If you hit that, the plane doesn't work anymore, yet the F-5C is pulling 15Gs in War Thunder, so any idea that Gaijen is applying real world flight characteristics is laughable.

@@Xiphactinus In this case the instructor is probably the thing that causes issues. IRL most pilots were instructed to at maximum pull around 9 Gs and most pilots physically wouldn't be able to go over that, but this is Warthunder....
@@martijn9568 Max sustained pull before the F-16 was generally around 6-7Gs war thunder is just completely unrealistic and holding the F8 fm to the standards of the irl jet is absurd

the place this plane truly excels is in tier 7 EC. You can spawn with 4 great missiles in terms of range, supersonic speed, and an IFF radar for all of 0 spawn points

Hey Defyn, I love your videos! I’ve learned a lot from you. I was recently thinking about buying the Ta 154 premium plane in Germany and tried to look up guides and reviews on it but they’re mostly old and outdated. I know this sounds unlikely, but do you think you could make a video on it? No one can really showcase a plane like you can.
Honestly, the 154 is one of the best twin engine interceptors at it's br. I believe it has one of the better climb rates at it's br, so it's important to stay above everyone. I haven't played it in awhile so there isn't much I can tell you.
Go for the bombers. Boom and zoom them.
It's quite a good interceptor, great climb, good speed, and very good armament. If you use MEC to WEP without overheating you should outclimb almost everything you face. Go for bombers if they're there, otherwise use your altitude to BnZ and force the enemy team down. One warning is that in the 154 you will be facing the XP50 pretty often. Do not engage it alone unless you have a significant energy advantage! The XP50 outperforms the ta154 in almost every performance metric and sits at a lower BR.
The real F-8 was a highly regarded plane that served several countries for over 40 years. It had a very good kill ratio against the MIG's of the era. This plane also had hardpoints under the wings to carry additional weapons including more AIM-9 Sidewinders. Yes, I was a naval aviator in the U.S. Navy. I worked with guys who flew these and they loved them. I certainly never heard of one losing a canopy. This was designed the exceed 1000 MPH.
I am sorry your game is sad but this plane performed very well for the U.S. Navy among others. The French Navy used theirs until 1999. Not bad for something designed in the 1950's.
The F8 is the Crusader not the Corsair II unless it was intentional in the title.

I love this thing so much! I can almost feel the rage of MiG-19 and MiG-21 players through the screen as I out-turn them in a sustained dogfight 😂. Also the missiles are pretty much just the AIM-9Gs that the harriers have, which feel like a mix of the AIM-9J and E...
Will you try out the FGR with its new radar? I'm quite interested to see if the ability to use sparrows at lower altitude makes any difference.

God, playing stock this thing is an absolute nightmare. I have more fun in A7D stock than this thing (mind you at the time it still sit at 9.7 but still)
Idk having afterburner is a good thing or a bad thing in this thing because the wings certainly didnt like speed
The A-7D has airspawn, which is why the stock grind is more enjoyable. Not to mention it gets AIM-9Js.
F8 is a bundle of fun just be gentle at high speeds, the guns are not the best but the plane handles so well it can get guns on target at angles other jets cant

What do you folks think about the FGR/FG.1 getting the AIM-9G? 9D feels quite underwhelming in this current meta.
Isn't this supposed to be one of the first fly by wire aircraft? No idea about the real thing but with a flight computer you might expect it would be smoother (to aim and such).

The last gunfighter is a misnomer. It's literally called that because it was the last air platform designed around its usage of guns (as opposed to modern aircraft which have guns, but aren't designed around the gun usage). Even still, the majority of air to air kills in the F8 in real life were still with missiles.
This feels like a plane that would only be enjoyable in sim because there it's much easier to align the plane and you can get really close

Phantom 100%. If you don't fly the phantom like most US pilots (on the deck and turnfighting) you can wreck other planes.... The phantom is STILL the most capable 10.7 plane IMO.

Although its quite boring I find whats most successful is climbing really high, dog fight anyone up there then drop behind the enemies and use your missiles and guns to kill without them knowing you are there (for a time) doesn’t work all the time but its pretty reliable just make sure bot to overload your wings lol

Can someone help me report a bug......it is since the new update .......the bug is that if you put ultra low graphical settings ( which a lot of players have due to low spec PCs) , you cannot lock on and fire any missile ......the missile seeker is turned on, but you cannot track, lock on and fire a missile......this is broken and gives a unfair advantage in too tiers ......please help me ......I am still facing this bug

Depends on the missiles you use
The early missiles you get only have the smaller circle (Aim-9Bs and derivatives, like R-3s and the Chinese one).
Pretty much every other missile can be uncaged tho (you still have to lock with the smaller circle, but afterwards you can lead the missile within the bigger circle). Missiles like the Aim-9E (idk about other countries missiles on this one).
In some other cases they can also be slaved to the radar. This means if you have a radar lock, the missile will try to lock the enemy within the big circle. Missiles like the Aim-9J and I think R-60 too(?) can do this.
This if for IR missiles.

Just hold high altitudes, where you won't rip your wings
My tips ; use combat flaps to control your turns and just keyboard push your nose to avoid over-G. With combat flaps, speed won't exceed 1050kph (this is the rip speed of wings for 10G sustained)
1050kph is the threshold speed. Turn at that speed below 2000m, you'll rip your wing 100% ! Above that, you're ok
By holding high alt, you can "dunk" AIM-9D on slow furballing, afterburning MiG's !
I use AIM-9D like i do with the Matra 530E ! Same "pattern" of lead !
And yes, guns are BROKEN ! In an interview of a former COS of USAF (ex F8 pilot) he said that he performed CAS mission in Vietnam and strafed enemies 80ft away from allied troops ! He said that Colt could hit a door sized target at 750yds ! Colt are spraying way too much right now !
I use left sided guns when i shoot at a right side turning plane (to my right) and vice-versa, bullets seems to "drop" better in the flightpath of the enemy ! Save ammo, more careful aim.. (just set MG and "canon" on different keys)

This plane should outperform the F104 pretty clear cut that they modeled the F8 poorly

9Ds are better at range but easy to dodge if people pay attention
Bleeding his speed doesn't matter at range
He gets all of it's back quicker than me and he outruns me
At full speed it would've accomplished nothing
At close speed he's slower and he's close enough to the point I can shoot him

This match just made me want to go back to the F-104. Granted, I only have the US 104A, which is probably the absolute worst one there is.
The US have the worst starfighters short of the chinese A variant. Every other F-104 model has something that makes it stand out. The german has flares and more missiles, the japanese and chinese both have 4 9J's, the Italian is the fastest one and has radar missiles. It's sad that the US gets the worst version of it's own planes, but I suppose it should be that way with the 104, as they did use it for a very limited time and did not like it very well

the F8J and especially the french F8E(FN) would be much better, with aim-9g/(possibly H) capability on the american one and Magics on the french one, which i think might well give it 10.3 capability.
The F-8E would be better than the F-8J. The F-8J has an air-bleed system that takes away some thrust from the engine, making it slower and not as responsive. Pilots also found the radar quite useless. The only thing the F-8J has over the F-8E is flares

idk if they fucked up the flight model of this thing or they made it worse on purpose as it can effectively counter and outmaneuver migs in real life. in my experience, this thing rips constantly at a speed it was design to fly and do maneuvers on. i wanted them to interview actual pilots of aircrafts like these, not just the crusader, to actually get valuable data, but i guess they'll just throw it off the window if it outclasses russian vehicles like what happened during that abrams crewman interview. the fastest a crew cold reload was 3 seconds. they were trained that way. Not only american tank crews but others as well. But I guess "auto-loaders" on the T-series reload speed will just remain constant as it was designed to do. Then they hide it with the "for the sake of balance" excuse. yeah, balance for the sake of russian vehicles. so much so that other light armored tanks get hull-broken from a shot to the tracks, while a russian bmp can tank both 120mm apds and hesh from a conq and heat-fs without breaking the hull. Fascinating
Most if not all pilots from the navy loved this thing and even called it the "navy's sports car". They loved this plane by a mile. The only problem it has is the constant leaks it had
