The only downside of this air fryer is that you need to ignore it’s temperature recommendations because it suggests 400 degrees for damn near everything and burns your food to a crisp! I have found you can cook chicken and pork chops perfectly at 340 degrees at 15 minutes! Also French fries 🍟 come out perfect at 330 degrees at ten minutes!
hi - expat Canadian here : ) much appreciated your video as I've just bought the same model for £10 UK a an auction. Not tried it for cooking yet, just switched it on for a few minutes to see how it it . . . seems to work fine SO FAR. ; ) Seems like the fan noise is a little noisy - where I perhaps might disagree with you about how quiet / noisy it is. Thanks again for your informative video
Don't care for asparagus but I would try roasting Brussels Sprouts. Does the top get warm? I'd use the top to warm a serving plate. You say that carrots and broccoli get dried out, I cook broccoli (wrapped in foil) along with salmon in my Instant Pot. Magic Salmon Seasoning on both. Nice low-carb dinner. I use a smaller AF (Dash) in my camper in summer, fits under the range hood so i can operate the exhaust fan to clear cooking odors. Do the same with my 3-quart IP. New subscriber, you did an excellent job on this video, I like that you get right to the point.
Thanks for your kind comments. My IP does get warm on top but there is also venting there so would not want to block. I’ve since found whole carrots work quite well and make often!
I just bought the 7 quart version of this for $49.99 at Costco to replace my old Power XL air fryer that died on me after only 3yrs and cost over $100.00 when it first came out. It’s quieter, has a larger capacity and actually cooks everything in half the time and much more thoroughly! It’s non stick separate bottom rack comes out so you can easily wash it in the sink or washer and the Power XL that has an internal basket with small holes that is NOT non stick is much more cumbersome and difficult to wash in the sink or washer. Also, since the Power XL’s inner basket has those small holes, food gets baked into them and much of it gets permanently baked on the sides where you can never get it off. This Gourmia air fryer beats the hell out of the Power XL. Just proves things advertised on TV is not always the best products.
A Canadian review. Yay! I’m a big fan of air fryers and actually have a ninja brand that I feel like I paid way to much for at Canadian Tire. No Costco near me since I moved to a smaller town 3 months ago. Anywho, my daughter grabbed one for me and is bringing it to me in a couple weeks😊I love the ninja but it’s too small🤷♀️. Like you I saw the price point and said ‘start the car’ 😂. So I’m glad I came across your review. Excellent report, thank you. If I like this one, my daughter gets the ninja(lucky kid). But she’s just herself so good size for her. It’s just my hubby and I but we like to eat. Also I like the extra rack that sits higher to cook separate foods. The ninja one sits pretty low, so we don’t use it. Have a great day.
Thank you so much for your kind review!! We are still loving our air fryer and use it all the time. Thinking of doing an update with more ideas we have discovered!! Let me know how you like it!!!
You have a very nice manner Dawn! Just bought this model a few days ago. Haven't opened it yet. So gathering info and opinions is very helpful. I'm interested in the veggie capability as well. So will watch the comments for more ideas there. Have you tried beef or chicken burger patties? Just wondering. Would seem a good fit. Anyway ... thanks again and all the best! 🙂
Thanks so much for your kind words! We made the carrots from the recipe book just yesterday and do all the time except just olive oil, salt and pepper, big hit. Patties should work just fine!! Enjoy!!!
I was wondering if you’re using the preset for cooking vegetables. I’ve been doing some research since I’m not sure about getting one. I do have a convection oven so I’m not sure if it would be any faster. How long does it take to preheat? Some people don’t use the presets because they say they’re too high of a heat. Perhaps lowering the heat might help with the vegetables or spaying with oil.
I don’t use the presets just the regular air fryer mode and veggies do cook faster as long as you don’t over crowd. It preheats very quickly, like a couple of minutes, and I always use oil, just a little less than for roasting. Hope this helps!
Just used my new 5 qt air fryer with chicken thighs and a recipe I found on google. Delicious. Wasn't sure how they would turn out, but happy with the results.
I have watched several YT videos that say that frozen broccoli and frozen carrots cook better in an air fryer. I also saw a video that gave a good tip - putting a broken up slice of bread under the crisper to soak up grease / juices when cooking something like bacon, sausages, etc. I am thinking of buying the Gourmia so thanks for the review of the pros and the cons.
Bought exactly the same model, only lasted about two years and it’s dead. Called the helpline and I was told that probably the fuse was burnt, repairing would cost more than replacing. If you know how to solder, it’s not difficult to fix. Is this a piece of disposable equipment? No good for the environment. Anyone who has similar experience?
I did, but it’s not easy to take it apart. Since I didn’t trust myself in doing the soldering, I had to take it apart and took it to someone who did the soldering. You do need patience to put it back together. It has been working since then. You can fix it yourself if you’re handy.
Hi - thanks so much for reaching out!! It depends. The more you put in the longer it takes and more you need to keep shaking to move them around. Works best with a single or double layer but honestly sometimes we want to make more!!! How crispy you want will depend too, easier to crisp with lesser amount. We are a super crispy household!!!
What is it with all you people putting paper in this air fryer?!? It’s totally not necessary! The bottom grill’s slots aren’t small enough for anything to fall through and it’s non stick! You’re only wasting time and money using paper.
The only downside of this air fryer is that you need to ignore it’s temperature recommendations because it suggests 400 degrees for damn near everything and burns your food to a crisp! I was torn between this item and a power oven air fryer, I now know what to pick. I am thankful.

Great review. I just purchased the 5 qt and really excited about using it. Thanks 😊🙏

Try the Simple Roasted Carrot recipe that is in the book. Yummmm!
Thanks for the tip, going to try tonight!!! And thanks for watching my video! Really appreciate!!
They are excellent! Thanks!!!
Hey
How to unlock the bottom compartment of Philip's airfy
Bought exactly the same model, only lasted about two years and it’s dead. Called the helpline and I was told that probably the fuse was burnt, repairing would cost more than replacing. Sorry to hear about your air fryer. ☹️
Did you replace the fuse?

I just bought the same fryer myself. Loved wings in it. Tried the coffee cake, was disappointed, the bottom and centre did not bake.
Agree baking isn’t a strong feature of the air fryer. Wings definitely are!!!!
I want to try the nuts!
This air fryer was on sale at Costco last week for $49.00 CAD
798 (latest model) is available at costco now, on sale for $60.
I bought it yesterday for 39.99
Are you using frozen ready made fries ?
Yes, they work great. When I tried using potatoes I was disappointed in results.
Why does mine smoke?
Oh no, that doesn’t sound right. I think you should return.
I have my one too firstime too use
How hard is it to pronounce Gourmia???????
How much fries can we put in

Thanks for replying I just bought the same like you have before I was using deep fryer that's why I was wondering how much we should put in
@@sabinaarbab6586 you’ll figure it out in no time!!
Thanks again
Apparently roasting Frozen Veg is the solution

cooks fast mine takes 30 mins to cook one slice of bacon at 200c
Lol you put and leave it on the countertop, makes no sense to keep dragging it out of a cupboard
Thank you 😊
It's $39 now at Costco.
Score!!
My air fryer is losing its non stick coating
Oh no! Is it still under warranty? If not, try some non stick spray. Good luck!!!
This fryer is ok. When the basket wears out it is not readilly available to buy seperate.
Hmmm, hopefully doesn’t wear out but something to know!
