    How much do the bigger tires affect performance? A lot of people complain about the tires just not being as big as the Trail125 and see it as a big downside, I'm just worried about if there's any trade-offs with these.

      @@adventureswithmojo2503 I own a stock 2022 Monkey. Tons of fun riding around here in MInnesota as it brings me back to my childhood riding a similar small motorcycle called the Kawasaki KV75 ((1975 model year). I have different motorcycles but the most fun is that Monkey. Safe travels to you!

    A lot of cool additions and a lot of good ideas but it adding rear sprocket adapter caught my attention if you add the adapter to the rear sprocket and nothing up front your chain will never be in a perfect alignment with the sprockets thus lasting a quarter of the life. that wasn't a good idea.

    • @adventureswithmojo2503
      @adventureswithmojo2503  5 місяців тому +1

      The front sprocket has a lot of float to it and moves back-and-forth because of this. There really isn't any issues. I've already over 3000 miles on it. Without any problems. Not putting around miles there, hard off-road miles miles.

      The monkey's easier to run the bigger tires. Because you don't have interference with the headlight. The Grom headlight sits so low that you either have to put something else on or raise it, so you can put a higher fender.

      No probs, look forward to your findings. I've been doing some research of my own and found some 715mm long with adjustable rebound and dampening. My biggest problem at the moment is working out a way to lengthen the front brake line to allow for the extra 60mm Fork height. Mine is the abs model . Did you find the same problem with yours?

    Assuming the top is slotted aluminum, that looks like a Motion J rack on the back. I have the same one on my 2019 and it's great. I have a Motion J front rack/headlight guard too. They've both held up well and i abuse shit. I gotta make a video about it. Nice bike

    • @adventureswithmojo2503
      @adventureswithmojo2503  10 місяців тому +1

      You're right. It is the motion J rack, and I think it's one of the strongest racks out there that I've seen so far. This winter, I plan on designing a different rear rack that is a little bit wider and has some support on the side. For my sidebags and maybe a Jerry can for extra fuel.

    • @dangareau
      @dangareau 10 місяців тому

      I started building a trailer hitch for the rear rack and a Monkey trailer from a beach fishing cart. I arleady made some rod holders for the front and rear racks. I only live 30 miles from Atlantic City, so I can take back roads all the way to the surf or to the Delaware Bay. Hell now I'm inspired, I'm going fishing tomorrow.@@adventureswithmojo2503

    Super good purpose built Monkey! I'm curious if you are planning to do a rear shock upgrade. You're not a small dude and will all of the extras seems like it would be a good upgrade. If you are planning to upgrade them, what would be your choice?

    • @adventureswithmojo2503
      @adventureswithmojo2503  4 місяці тому

      Yes, I already have upgraded the shocks in the rear. They were actually the first thing I ever bought for the bike. I got them off eBay. They have stiffer sthings, oil dampening. And you can adjust the preload on them. I've been running them for over 2 years now and so far. They've been pretty good for me.

    For riding around town and light trail riding, is the Monkey really worth $700 more than a Grom? I think the Monkey looks better but that's all.

    • @adventureswithmojo2503
      @adventureswithmojo2503  9 місяців тому +4

      I also have a 2022 HONDA GROM. And these are what I consider the pros. And cons between the 2 bikes,
      PROSE FOR THE HONDA GROM
      #1 It's cheaper than the Honda monkey, and it's easier to find used for a good price.
      #2 It's set up so you can have a passenger
      #3 This one would be preference and works with both of them. And that is people like the way it looks.
      THE CONS FOR THE HONDA GROM
      #1 It's not as comfortable, and the sitting position kind of pushes you forward into the tank. It's not as bad on the newer models, but the first Gen. really pushes your crotch into the tank. Especially when you tap on the front brakes.
      #2 The resell on the Honda Grom is not as good as the monkey. They depreciate quite a bit.
      PROSE FOR THE HONDA MONKEY
      #1 It has what I think is the most comfortable seat on any motorcycle. I have been on.Even more comfortable than my Honda goldwing.
      #2 This one may be more preference, but to me. It is a lot more fun to ride than the Honda grom
      #3 This is also preference But for me. I think the monkey looks a lot better.
      Partly because there's not a lot of them out there. And so you don't see them all the time. So it kind of stands out.
      CONS FOR THE HONDA MONKEY
      #1 It costs more than the grom and even used ones if you can find them, hold their value. So it's also hard getting a good deal on a used one,
      #2 It doesn't have a passenger seat or pegs, so it's not designed to have a passenger.
      That being said, I prefer the HONDA MONKEY over the HONDAGROM. But a lot of its preference. If you're able to, I would sit on both of them and take a test ride on both to see what you like the best

    Those tires look awesome! How much do they improve performance off-road? Are they still manageable on the street? Also, are new forks required to run those taller tires?

    • @adventureswithmojo2503
      @adventureswithmojo2503  10 місяців тому +2

      These ATV tires are like night and day compared to the stock tires. Because they have a 6 ply sidewall. I only run around 4PSI in them when I'm off roading. on the street. I run about 19PSI so I don't have as much drag and they're not too bad on the street when you're going slower, you feel each of the cleats a little bit more, but when you're going faster, you don't feel them as much. They are bigger heavier tires so they do take A bit of your horsepower in the bike to turn them. But with the gearing that I have it compensates for that. When I'm off roading. because of how tall they are, you wouldn't need to run longer front forks, otherwise they would. Hit the Fender.
