Lads, this is one of them videos that’s going to be referenced for many years to come! Honestly appreciate you guys taking the time to do this, you’ve blown the ‘bro science’ out of the water. I’ve a zoom exhaust and was thinking of upgrading the air filter too but obviously will be getting a remap as well. Is it cheaper do you think to let somebody else remap it instead of buying the gear? I’ve a ducati too that could potentially benefit from a remap so weighing out what’s the best cost effective way of doing it. Also, your Production is spot on as always, I hate having to set cameras up for cut scenes such as moving the van or arriving haha but they always seriously add to the video so keep up the solid work 👌🏻
Thanks for the encouragement Jonny💪🏻 With regard to getting the gear vs doing it yourself, I think it depends on whether you can use the PowerVision 3 on the Ducati. If you can, then it’s a no brainer, you might as well buy one and use it on both bikes. You’d be best to reach out to Frank at DynoJet and give him both bike details and he’ll advise. Good luck 💪🏻
Absolutely Awsome video! Thanks so much for creating this. So much out there in Monkey bikes exhaust .. hard to know what to go for. I love you're method. I know what's on my wishlist now 😁 Thanks 😊
Good luck, so you can understand the power maps of a Honda Monkey from the year 2023, engine type JB03 and 5 speeds? I have the Dynojet power vision 3 and I only have the stock exhaust map, stock air intake
Hi guys guys top vid, I have a jb03 monkey with power vision 3, do no were I can purchase a maps dynojet did load one on when I bought it but cant find anymore
No need to purchase them… they are free! Contact Frank at technical@dynojet.co.uk, tell him you’ve seen the vid and you’d like the maps we created. You won’t be disappointed 😎
Amazing video guys. Very informative! I'm having some real challenges with a local to me DYNOJET chap who isn't getting anywhere near the results you guys have achieved, and now feel I'm getting "brushed off" with a kinda "you don't know what you're on about" attitude. Yet I'm the guy riding it, and I've not realised any performance gains whatsoever. Supposedly they've remapped my Monkey from 7.44 to 9.02hp. 6.54 to 7.49nM. K&N air filter and Yoshi RS3 exhaust. Nothing!! Not a jot of difference. Still slows down in 5th. Can't hit 60 (indicated) on a flat in 4th. Identical performance to a pals non remapped bike (same K&N and Yoshi). What would you advise? Any chance I can speak to one of you?
Hi, and thanks for getting back to me. I'm based down south in Dorset. It'd be great to pick your brains, but not sure how to get in touch with you guys directly, other than through here. I've tried to ping you my details but the messages vanish, so clearly that's not allowed. 🤷♂ Hope to learn more. Best regards, Mark
Hi Sir, may I politely ask for sone questions? If I would upload the second map, optimized on that monkey, on another one (same model year), would it pull out the same performance or it’s necessary to have a dyno launch, because of the whole bike system repeatability? With the new air-fuel ratio/ ignition advance fine tuning, does the gas mileage get better or worse? Does it pass euro 5 periodical DMV check? Is it possible to keep it at max speed for tens of kilometers and I think they keep it rich for that reason: will it be safe with the new map? Having the bike under warranty, does the shop immediately find out the map isn’t stock so it automatically drops or should they investigate each window of the table? Thank you in advance.
Hi, thanks for the comments! So, yes, as long as it has similar modifications it will be fine… of course these engines are not as highly strung as an inline 4, so having a bespoke map isn’t as critical. Yes of course a bespoke map would be better… but you might get 0.2bhp more…and that’s not something you’ll ever notice. Gas mileage definitely gets worse, but that’s because you have more performance and are using more fuel…. It’s still good on fuel though. I’m not familiar with a DMV check, although again, these engines are so small, I’m sure it will fly through any emissions check. I’ve ran this engine flat out on the road, mile after mile and it’s been perfect. You want to avoid it being lean, and that’s one element of the remap As far as warranty, they wouldn’t “immediately know” however a great thing about the PowerVision 3 is you can swap it back to the standard map before taking it to the garage! (Officially, yes, it would more than likely void any engine warranty claims if they were aware.) Just go for it…. You won’t regret it! 😎
Hi guys Love the channel! Currently running ZR1000A2, contemplating switching to new Monkey. Can't stand noisy exhausts so an after market pipe is out of the question Thinking bog stock plus a 145 kit. Went on Dyno jet site but got a bit confused, it's a power vision 3 I'd need to re-map ECU, or take it to dynojet? Kind regards Simon K
Hi Simon, thanks for the comments! More content coming soon… Regarding the 145 on a standard exhaust… you’d be better going to DynoJet as we don’t have a 145 performance map without an exhaust, as most modifiers do the exhaust as the very first step. I understand though, they are loud and can be quite antisocial. Anyway, either way, you’ll need a Power Vision 3, give Frank a message on technical@dynojet.co.uk
Monkey insured from today, being delivered this afternoon How do you guys get around the problem of a modified bike with your insurance company, tried explaining about the extras on mine they didn't have a clue! In my book changing things like rear shocks, mirror extenders etc are safety related which makes the bike better to ride & safer?! Keep up the good work, cracking channel.
An AFT 14.7 is what the manufacturer aims for to be as lean as possible, therefore as efficient as possible to use as little fuel per mile, to be able to meet emissions regulations. The more fuel you can get into the cylinder that can be combusted, the more power can be made. But the additional power, consumes more fuel and this reduces fuel economy. So we aim for mid 13’s AFR. That’s the sweet spot, anything less than that and you start to become too rich and the engine isn’t able to burn all of the fuel. Which results in less power and things like carbon build-up where the unburnt fuel deposits on the internals. So basically, it’s a balance… but mid 13’s AFR is a good place. Hope that’s explains it👍🏻
@@SmallboreAndMore Thank you for your response! I just see in video that 13,2 AFR was aimed. I know that 14,7 AFR is optimum for gasoline engines, but maybe for an small air cooled engine the extra fuel keep the cylinder cooler.
It’s 1.88 BHP gain! Not Half a horse power?? I know the absolute figure feels small, but you’ve gotta remember the amount they start out with is tiny… so it’s actually quite a big gain, 8.3bhp to 10.18bhp is over 20%💪🏻 And the most important thing is you can REALLY feel it out on the road😎
Absolutely class video, about time someone documented this information 👏

So what would happen if i did the exhaust and the air intake but leave the ecu as is?
It would run too lean… and potentially get too hot and damage the engine.

Do you use the stock ecu ? And just use the dump thing to remap the stock
Yes, stock ECU, use the power vision 3 to flash it with new map.

Yes… you need a licence per bike.👌🏻
