The drains on each barrel end at a ball valve. I then have a 1" to 3/4" straight thread (amzn.to/3IkKzxi) attached to a hose. This piece has a 1" pipe that slip locks into it and the 1" ball valve.
I have seen adding some air into these barrels helps add to the overall performance.

How much gph could flow through that barrel with rocks
It depends on your pump. You can make more water push through but then the filter doesn't work as well. I wouldn't go more than 1200 GPH.
